Stayed at Phu Van Resort & Spa recently and honestly had a good experience. The breakfast buffet was decent, plenty of options and everything tasted good. Location-wise, it’s super convenient since there’s a VinBus stop nearby, so getting to Grand World, VinWonders, and the Safari was easy. Also liked that there are lots of shops, restaurants, pubs, and even a market around the area, so it didn’t feel isolated at all. Easy to find food and things to shop.
The not-so-good: my room was in the main building on the highest floor and there’s no lift, so carrying our 25kg luggage up was quite tiring. The room itself was spacious, but the bed was very, very hard. I ended up with backache and didn’t sleep well. The bathroom could also use better cleaning. Overall, okay for location and convenience, but comfort could definitely be improved.
Tolle Lage, netted Personal
Only location
Staff was so rude and counting everything even how many eggs we are eating, giving 2 eggs per person in breakfast.Staff even click photoes while cleaning that we stained bedsheet asking for money. We did not broke water glass but still they asked for money i paid in dollar for that single glass.I just left flat slipper in other room but after check out staff was asking for that slipper as well asking for pay money. Manager was not supportive. This is how resort staff treating please think careful before book.
Location
Staff and the breakfast was worst than ever that make the trip a bad experience. Especially the staff at the concierge will score you and threat you if we complaint or make request
Basic clean and comfortable

Very good Hotel
Location was right there on the beach. The price was right, and staff was helpful.
We knew what we were getting. The bugs were an issue in the room every morning. Not sure if the hotel has complete control, but it was still worth the stay.
Great location, in front of the nice beach (one minute by foot).
Communication, very bad in english. You need to use google translate all the time. We paid addional fee for late check out, but on our last day staying there, we needed to pack our bags at 9am and move out. They've sent us to other bungalow without explanation and any previous notice (even regular check out is untill noon). We were there 6 days...
Location was good.
Hotel was too expensive for quality available which was average to poor. No Sunbeds on beach, Sunbeds broken by pool, pool was full of flies too. very old and tired feeling around resort. breakfast was ok but food left to be served cold such as bacon and walking in over broken tiles not a good feeling to it. Not a resort and Spa experience as advertised. Had a bit of a empty feeling to the whole experience.
It was basic but reasonably comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful
Things were broken or in poor condition (eg bedside lamp plug broken, shower head rusty, bathroom sink pipe leaked water). The beach bungalows were very expensive for what you for what you got and the food was very average.
Staff friendly ..It was a 2min walk to the beach ..lovely cabin setting ..and best great to have Aircon facility
Had a plumbing problem..
We booked a bungalow at the pool and got the noisy and worn down bungalow closer to the beach. It was very loud until 2am, and were called troublemakers for requesting the bungalow we asked for. Other guests experienced the same & have been told rooms weren’t ready. They really need to upgrade the bungalows. 1x plus: cleaning lady was very friendly.
Nothing
Everything was wrong since you walk in. The staff greeted you with We are fully booked!! Not even ask that we have a reservation or not until we show them that we have a reservations for 5 rooms for 8 nights . We booked in advance almost 3 months and even messaged them directly that we expect the room we really booked. We are big family with 10 adults and 5 kids. The staff was no English and give us the wrong room without explain anything . The said was upgraded but was downgraded. We mentioned since we messaged after booked that we don’t want beach bungalow room but they still give us that room. It was smaller with bad condition some room was no hot water, toilet seat was moldy. Give the room for a mather with 3 y.o. Boy close to the restaurant with a terrible loud music. We tried to argue with the manager or the owner that he mentioned that he built the hotel for changing the room he give promise that he will but we didn’t get any. We can‘t move because we stay over New year holidays everything fully and not easy for us to find place for big family. And the room really not worth as the price we paid at all. The was a very very bad experience in Vietnam especially this hotel. It was really felt like cheating not only our family that got this situation our neighbor room also got the same situation as us even they went to the hotel the booked the room since March that which room they they want. We will never come back.
I am disappointed to write that this hotel does not live up to expectations. Firstly, the Superior Room we booked did not “boast a walk-in shower”, Booking.com description not ours. The room was extremely dated and in need of modernisation. Whilst the room was spacious, it smelt musky with signs of damp penetration to the left of the window and below the window cill. Not great conditions for anyone’s health especially since my wife suffers with COPD. The room (004) had a limited view and was accessible via a rather dirty communal balcony. We carried our suitcases four long flights of stairs (granted there was some minimal help to start with) to the second floor (2 long flights per floor) since there wasn’t a lift. The air conditioning was ineffective and in general the room was far from adequate, the pictures on the App and hotel website must be at least 5 years old judging by current conditions. How this room can be described as ‘Superior’ is beyond me. Needless to say we complained and, after much toing and froing we were moved to a bungalow (room 423); this was better however, we could only stay here until 28th December as they were fully booked and we then had to return to the original inferior room 004. Room 423 also had its issues, mattresses were stained, the suspended ceiling tiles in the shower room had moss growing from it, the wash basin was stained, cracked and in a sorry state, the ceiling extractor in the bathroom was disgustingly filthy, the electrics were constantly tripping and lights permanently flickering, the front door lock then failed halfway through our stay and our room wasn’t made up on this day either (24/12). As part of the toing and froing we were offered two alternative rooms and neither was an improvement, in fact I’d say they were worse, one room didn’t even have a window and the damp smell was so overpowering. So as not to spoil our New Year I frantically sourced somewhere else to stay. This proved quite challenging given the holiday period but I did eventually manage to find somewhere from 28/12/24 to 1/1/25 at considerable expense. We then had to spend our final night in the damp musky ‘superior’ room 004 back at Phu Van resort and the A/C wasn’t working properly making it difficult to sleep due to heat levels. Not the greatest experience of our travels and certainly not a 3 star hotel as suggested, a 2 star perhaps and that’s pushing it! I could extol the inadequacies of this hotel with a lot more detail, including that of breakfast and questionable food safety standards (salad exposed to flies and bugs with dishes in terrines warm at best) but hopefully you get my points? I’m not sure how hotels are assessed but the accommodation description is definitely misleading and in my opinion contravenes advertising standards, examples being this is described as beach front albeit, there is access to the beach via a privately owned bar where they charge for seating, there wasn’t any beach towels, there wasn’t an iPod dock, the pool wasn’t fenced, I could go on! The internet was very poor and constantly intermittent to the level it was infuriating, it’s either controlled for access or it’s just pathetic. Our entrance door was fully glazed albeit thankfully not transparent, however, it allowed light from the terrace to enter at night until around midnight.
Good location to Duong Dong for bars, restaurants and shops. Nice size pool and access to a very small beach area. Nice little private beach bar!

Spent a week in Phu Van Resort in a beach front (ocean view) bungalow. The location is great, there is everything a tourist possibly needs during the stay and easy access to the beach. The bungalow is quite spacious, the cleaning lady was nice and overall we enjoyed our stay.
However, I wouldn't return for the following reasons: - We asked for change of rooms as the one we got initially was looking at a pile of garbage instead of the ocean. It was super loud as there is beach party every day every night. The bungalow was full of ants, the lights and warm water was not working. After the change we decided to stay but it was still very noisy (earplugs recommended). - If you want to use the beach of the resort, you have to pay for the bean bag or buy something. - Unlike the pictures, there is no gym, it is used as a storage room. - The bed is uncomfortable, the springs stick out of the bed. - The breakfast was ok, not a big selection and not high quality. - The cleanliness of the room was great, however, not the rest of the areas of the resort (e.g. shared toilets are disgusting).
Around the hotel, the local atmosphere, nail shop, massage shop, restaurants and cafes were comfortable, and we were able to take wonderful pictures connected to the beach in its location. The breakfast was also good, and overall, it was cost-effective
A little old hotel
Equal proximity to the beachside and the town centre
Breakfast choices/layout/replenishment needs to be markedly improved to attain even average European standards
Nice stuffs. Good location. Wonderful pool.
Staffs don't speak much English, but we have Google translate, so no problem. The noise of the outdoor unit of the air-conditioner was quite loud.
The property has beach access.
Very poorly maintained property. Main hotel building seems to be a furniture and bedding dumping ground. Floors and surfaces in common areas, breakfast room floor, patio etc require deep clean with hot water. The photographs on the website do not reflect the state of the property currently. Lots of areas where random items are dumped.
on the beach
beds are hard not so comfortable
Great location, nice clean room (stayed in one of the bungalows by the beach) great pool & friendly staff.
can hear music from the place next door until about 11pm.
The hotel was affordable and in a good location with direct access to the beach, and plenty of shops/restaurants near by. The breakfast was okay. The island is recovering from COVID so I think many hotels like this one lack the funds to invest in keeping everything on-site fully operational and to a very high standard (they need more customers to generate the funds, so don't be too put off by bad reviews. If you want 5 star you need to pay much more elsewhere!)
We had lots of ants in the bathroom and found a few in our bed. We went to the local supermarket and bought some bug spray to deal with the issue. Bugs are to be expected on the island. The beach area attached to the hotel is basic, and in the evening you have to pay to sit on the bean-bags even if you're a guest of the hotel.
Staff very friendly
The bathroom is not very good. The beach is not very clean.
Friendly staff
Nice manager. Large Resort with beautiful pool
The manager upgraded our room to beach bungalow. That was really awesome! Highly recommended!
Nice hotel, big and clean pool, very close to the beach
Nothing
Excellent location. Great pool . Big clean bungalow at a very modest cost. Staff were great. Manager Tam was helpful and charming . Highly recommended.
The rooms are really nice and clean. The location is excellent. It’s just seconds away from the beach.
Everything is perfect.
Everything is perfect
Friendly staff, nice manager. We took one extra night here! Pool was big and clean. Area is beautiful and quiet, good restauraunts and supermarket near by.
If you travel low season, be prepare that the breakfast can be littlebit poor. Wich is understandable, as it is not profitable to make a buffet for only a few customers.
Good quiet resort with a comfortable room. Nice terrace in front of the bungalow.
Upon arrival we were told that it was not possible to pay by credit card. Paying with dollars was possible, but with a ridiculous exchange rate. There was only 1 staff member who speaks English, further communication had to be done with the translation app.
Great location. Beautiful beach perfect for sunset. Loads of restaurants nearby, big room and comfortable bed.
We rented bikes, and they were just absolutely crap. He gave us them and sent us on our way without a word. We made it 2 mins out the road before they died because there was no petrol. We hadn't realised because the dials on one bike were broken and the digital display and electrics on the other one were broken. Had to wheel them onto the sidewalk and go walking to find fuel. The man who helped us said our bikes weren't good enough to be on the road. They were junk. Very irresponsible to rent unsafe bikes out to tourists and not tell them they tank is empty.
We stayed five nights in a bungalow (rm 425) and that was nice and large. The bathroom was also a generous size. Swimming pool was large but the water could have been clearer. Breakfast every morning was mainly Asian but we liked it. WiFi (free) worked well. Our position was only 40m away from a nice sandy beach. The location is very good with some great places on the beach and there were many varied restaurants on the main road.
Where to start. Overall we were disappointed with the resort. It used to have many of the facilities that we wanted and be in the condition we wanted but were now not there. I imagine that this has been caused by a lack of travellers to the resort and the owners not having the money to keep it up to the standard that it used to be prior to Covid. Several other resorts adjacent to this resort have had the investment and are in a much nicer state. So where to start. First there is no Spa and the gym is full of equipment that doesn't work and is completely full of rubbish. Our room safe didn't initially work (although they managed to fix this), some outside lights didn't work (fixed after 3 days) and the toilet seat was broken (fixed on day 3 but broke again day 5). There was virtually nothing by way of shelves for your clothes. The staff were a mixed bunch. Reception staff couldn't speak any english and the lead receptionist had a very unhelpful and unfriendly manner. the manager was much better and tried to sort out our issues but he failed to do a number of things which he said he would do. Cleaning, maintenance and breakfast staff were good. The sunbeds by the pool were very old and many did not work properly, same goes for the sun umbrellas. The area down by the beach is just a joke. there were three sunbeds and no umbrellas and the whole area had a look of abandonment. There is no entertainment or music of any sort throughout the day or evening and the pool bar (mentioned in the room information) was none existent. That said there was nothing fundamentally wrong, we were just very disappointed as our expectations were just not met. We were not the only ones with this view as two ladies arrived to an adjacent bungalow on day 2 but after one night they decided to move to s different resort as it was not up to their expectations.
Friendly staff, but it was Impossible to communicate without Google translator. They allow us to stay after the check out time because our fligth was at night. Good bungalow near the beach and a good swimming pool.
They asked for 10% fee by paying with credit card, because of taxes, but taxes were already included in the booking price. Poor facilities and service on the private hotel beach. Poor breakfast and no restaurant or bar.
A beautiful bungalow with a pool outside the door. Very close to the ZEN bar and walking distance to the beach front is about 3 minutes. Very relaxing and quiet. The room was cleaned every day
Breakfast wasn't that great, even if they had boiled eggs and bread that would have made a difference. Although it says spa, and pool side bar, you cannot get any drinks throughout the day or night, you have to take a walk to the beach front bar about 3 minutes to get drunk or food.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and the location was solid, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The beach was close too, about a five minute walk from the back of the property. Room was a good size,
Generally the whole resort is very tired and definitely needs some development. The gym is gone, now being used to store broken air conditioners. The breakfast was a bit limited, with the same few dishes repeating every other day. It was a buffet though, so that was good. The worst thing was the surprise 10% card fee. I know a 3-5% card fee is normal but 10% is disgusting. As I stayed for 10 nights I actually paid for 11 nights.
Wifi worked good. Beach close by with easy access from hotel. Staff at breakfast were nice and helpful even though no English was spoken. First night we had a problem with electricity in our room and went to reception, someone just about to leave helped and called for someone else and soon problem was fixed!
Second day we were out from early morning and came home late evening and found our bungalow door open like 30 cm, I spotted it from far. Probably left open by cleaning. After that we didn’t feel too comfortable. Breakfast was a lot of food. They did have noodles and eggs cooked on spot. Otherwise no signs on any food in the metal containers. They had put towels on the handles and from previous experience you’d think that means it too hot to touch but almost everything was cold. To pay with card they add 10%.
Great location. The restaurant was fantastic and staff was friendly and helpful.
Friendly staff, clean room, nice pool with sea view.
Location
We love to complex and have returned several times, but this time the bed was so hard that it brought pain to my body. We cannot return again if the mattress will be so hard.
Well, staff is working but it seems like they fall a sleep on the way of your request haha ) however everyone is polite and smiling to you. Phu Quoc island is so quite now as no Chines and Korean so mostly Russians and Vietnamese and it made us surprised ,
1 big group vizited this resort for a sort time . Welcome drink was tast (I think it was watermelon),check in took a bit time and rest of our times were perfect. Breakfast need to improve for sure .thanks
Its a nice place if you will come with friends and family so your stay can be more ẹnoyable. Íf you come with a good mood so everything will be pêrfect. Thanks to kind Vietnamese staff from houskeeping.
can not write too much as I did not have a time to discover this resort however I'd like to say thanks to Victor for a great attitude to the guests, he advised a few things for me so I grateful for it as well as to another staff too. good buy
We would like to thank to all of the guys in the resort about nice relations to customers. All was great. Phu Quoc is nice place but I afraid in a few years this Island will be so noisy and full of durty place. See you again in a year.
Friendly and very attentive staff available to answer questions quickly on whatsapp which was fantastic. Lovely large pool area which my kids and I loved. There was always sunbeds that were very comfortable to lie on and relax. Convenient to walk to some nice seafood restaurants. There was also a nice German bakery within walking distance. There was also a smoothie and Vietnamese coffee stall outside the hotel which was convenient! There was mini golf and table tennis wich my 6 year old son enjoyed. Perhaps extra golf clubs would be nice as there was only one. Or table soccer or a pool table could be added. Drinks and food by the pool could be added too however, you could buy a 20,000dong ($1.30AUD) smoothie just in front of the resort! Gardens and grounds could do with a spruce up especially at the front entrance. Breakfast was sufficient, with quite a few options. Would love some pancakes at breakfast but that is just me. They did have some kind of cake available every day. Fruit, eggs, bacon, noodle soup and Vietnamese dishes were on offer..Perhaps, cereal or yoghurt or museli could be added. We stayed in a two rooms with a connecting door which I loved for our family for 85USD a night which was in the main building on the third floor. This building did not have a lift which was a pity. The bungalow rooms near the pool were lovely, as we spent our first night there. It would be great if there was a pair of bungalow rooms with a connecting door to accomodate families. The beach was also a short walk out the back through another restaurant. Be aware that there is not much sand to lay on as there are many resorts claiming/occupying the beach. We sat at Mandala restaurant and bought a drink there. The water at the beach was lovely and clean. Overall for the family holiday, with kids it was very convenient.
Please be aware that a lot of thing and places to visit on the island: 1. Cable Car (I think it's the best place on this island) 2. Pagoda (Temple on the mountain with a nice view) 3. Safari Zoo (Great place to visit with kids) 4. Bai Sao Beach (Wonderful beach with jet ski scooter and boat with parachute) 5. Coconuts prison (Place for adults only) 6. Vinperland (Great for kids) Resort is so simple and we don't have much to tell you as mostly we were outside to discover the island. " Cảm ơn "
Our kids were really enjoying in the pool in the evening as in the afternoon was so sunny, me and my husband liked the beach (So long and many resorts on it with many restaurants) but the way on the beach is via another small resort and sunbeds are chargeable in there. Husband was happy with the small gym (that's what he likes to do daily). The only one issue is the staff afraid to talk with us as they do not understand English even in reception is so difficult to talk with them but there is 2 guys who know everything its Danny and Viktor.
Hello guys, we've been in Phu Quoc 5 years ago and came again so we don't have words. Everthing is totally changed, many many new hotels and resorts on the island. The goverment really work well, as well as peaople too, it's so nice to see it. Our resort was good too. Do not afraid to visit Vietnam.
Great location, close to the beach and a large pool. Air con didn't work well and the beds were uncomfortable in the villas but we're fine in the cabins. Overall would recommend over other local places, especially if you intend to spend most of your time outside of your lodge.
Near the centre of the city, but Swimming pool is not very clean
Hotelli ylitti ehdottomasti odotukset!
So dirty and bad conditions !
