Character, fabulous room, location
Breakfast was a disappointment
Great location in the town close to all amenities. Free Car parking.
Bar shuts a bit early
Endroit très bien situé avec chambre et lit spacieux Un petit déjeuner varié et de qualité. Restaurant et bar très sympa Ambiance très british et cosy
Neant
Great location and good value. Good breakfast.
Bathroom shower not controllable, so powerful and super hot, scorched my feet!
Friendly staff & good food
On the upper floor the walls are very thin - could hear a lot from adjacent rooms
Bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and professional. Food was 1st class. Lovely hotel.

Excellent food and service. Great value.
Good choice at breakfast. Lovely location right by Wallingford Castle Meadows. Own handy carpark with EV charger. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
TV didn't work initially but they sorted it out quickly
Location good. No clear instructions in advance for finding car park Our room was fine and quiet (at the back)
Dinner service very slow , food average breakfast poor. fruit juice had run out, fruit out of tins, I only wanted scrambled eggs and mushrroms out of the full Enlish but amount was tiny. Half a mushroom!
The hotel is very conveniently placed for Bunkfest.
When we left the hotel last year, we were told that a booking had been made for three nights this year; on calling to verify some time prior to travelling, we were told that the booking could not be found and had to make other arrangements for Bunkfest this year - having found a place to stay for two nights we managed to book the final night. I hope that this does not occur next year.
Fantastic location bang in middle of town for bunk fest the local festival
Our stay was during Bunkfest and clearly was extremely busy and getting served drinks was at times difficult. However the staff were exceptional and extremely helpful. Without them we, my wife has mobility problems, would not have been able to stay. They went out of their way to accommodate us. There was one gentleman, sadly I didn't get his name, was a credit to the hotel. He will know who he was if he reads this as I made sure I thanked him personally and shook his hand. Thank you once again for your hospitality.
Great location for the reason we came.
Tv did not work
Being on the ground floor!!good sized room, great location for the bunkfest weekend. Car parking
Having to pay extra for breakfast, altho it was a very good breakfast
Right in the centre of town so close to everything
Frokosten var ikke noe særlig. Gammel inntaket frukt og mye fett.
Frokosten.
central location for the bunkfest comfortable room and bed clean room with plenty of tea and coffee
the TV in the room did not work for our entire stay, the reason given was it affected all bedrooms. as far as we were aware no one came to try and fix it.
An excellently cooked and presented breakfast. Very comfortable and clean bedroom. Though in centre of Wallingford little traffic noise.
Ideal location in middle of town
Glenda was a lovely host, the room was spotless with all the facilities you need and the breakfast was amazing 👏
Nothing
Location was ideal for our race experience at the nearby Blyton race track. Friendly host and staff. We booked dinner, which was delicious, as was breakfast the following morning. Clean, comfortable room. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend
Nothing
It was nearby for our trip to watch the fastest man on grass at caedby corner
We were put on the second floor which was extremely difficult with our disabilities
Locatie midden in het centrum, zeer gastvrij

Handy for the town. Room was clean .breakfast was lovely, evening meal was good also.
Just a shame that they cannot get more people in the bistro in the evening.
Easy check in. Room exactly as described and perfectly clean and comfortable. Great breakfast
This is a lovely pub with good food in the evenings, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. The beers and drinks were good and we had a high quality evening meal. The rooms are clean and spacious, with good quality towels and linens. The cooked breakfast in the morning was good.
The bed in room 3 was very uncomfortable - you could feel the springs through the mattress. This needs to be replaced, or a decent topper put on.
Wish we had made a reservation for dinner before traveling.

Lovely room, decent pub downstairs with good food. Great breakfast too!

Nothing
Good location, comfortable.
Breakfast choice was poor even at 8am! Not enough staff in the bar and serving food in the evening. Poor chap virtually on his own and it was busy.
Free off road parking very handy
En suite very old and dusty in the corners. Room was very tired.
The position is great and the central courtyard a real sun trap. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean.
Our room was dark with no outlook except a hedge. It is an old building so we understand the constraints but we were disappointed. Some areas of the room need updating and the bath/shower area in particular. The remote control for the TV was hard to activate. Small things in themselves but they make a difference.
The shower was good.
The walls in the dining room were depressingly black, but the old photos were interesting. The self service breakfast was uninspiring. Staff were not really engaging.
Serving staff were very nice.
Annoyed we had a freestanding bath with a shower attachment in the en-suite of our room which wasn’t indicated in the room summary 😫, it just needs a decent shower! And a window for ventilation.
Leuk gebouw, geweldige ligging

Location, car charging point,
The car charging point is in a difficult to park location . Not for the first time, a non charging taxi was parked in the space and we had to ask for it to move. The bathroom needs a deep clean. Having lived in this area I know there is a problem with hard water, but the toilet looked like the lime scale had been allowed to build up - not pleasant. The carpet had not been properly vacuumed around the bed, there were biscuit crumbs on the floor. The breakfast is expensive - we actually ate at a nearby alternative which was much more reasonably priced. However, overall none of this was so bad that we felt a need to complain.
Breakfast comfy beds dog friendly lovely staff good position
Location
Expensive, very tired & tatty, shower/bath clearly not been functioning properly for some time. I dont believe we are the first to mention it. Ice m/c not working. Didnt try & any food and wasnt tempted by the look of 'The Bistro'
Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Room comfortable and excellent breakfast. Ideal for our overnight stay in Wallingford
We had an excellent sleep very peaceful hotel We enjoyed the facilities and had a lovely breakfast The staff were very helpful
Nothing
Brilliant location
The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. The property had plenty of character maintained from the original building, which was nice to see for us. All the staff were very friendly and approachable.
The portion size at lunch was not as much as I would like personally, although my appetite is usually quite large.
Great location. Full of character. Friendly staff.
Good location and free parking. Across the street from Waitrose.
The room on the Main Street was really noisy and so close to the buses as they went past. It was difficult to sleep. We moved to a more modern room at the back and this was so much better.
Lovely village
Delightful old property, centrally located. Friendly staff, spacious room, excellent menu.
Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms quite spacious and facilities overall very good. Food from onsite bistro every good. Pub and locals were welcoming.
Exceptional service and evening meals.
A larger mirror in the bedroom was my only small request
Lovely, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Breakfast was great and well received, and we also enjoyed the lively lunch thanks to the chef and kitchen staff. Nice relaxing accommodation.
Only downside was accessibility to the upstairs room due to the long pathway and stairs until we realized there was a second much shorter route. But still loved our stay.
Central location great breakfast and friendly staff
Too many stairs
Good location, breakfast was good
Very out dated furnishings, understaffed, poor value, view of car park
Excellent position in town
Limited food menu, not great quality
location excellent nice courtyard for drinks etc
Room was very noisy right on high street why is the more expensive rooms at the front nr the road and not at back overlooking the car park lack of staff & very limited choice of food
Bar staff were either nonexistent or inadequate
Location
Obvious from the initial greeting from the pleasant young ladies in reception this hotel is passionate about providing a 1st class service and stay. Room was spotless, everything you need and judging by how many local people in the restaurant/bar in the evening had travelled to enjoy really well presented excellent meals it was no surprise it was well supported. Staff and management very friendly and accommodating. Good location in traditional village setting with local store, parking etc handy and close to main road networks. Definitely return.
Nothing.
I liked the fact that breakfast on the Sunday was served till 10.00am. My son who had stayed with friends joined me for breakfast and we were both delighted with the choice and the food. The service was friendly and efficient. I loved the toast - not overdone - just as I like it. The choice was excellent.
My shower was too powerful. You asked me not to touch the taps so I didn't but the pressure was really strong.
The age and the features and history
There was t really anything around so unless you wanted to drive out the only place to eat was the George.
They could improve the tv reception no BBC 1 and I was following a programme that I couldnt watch
Location is great for a Wallingford visit
Hot during summer and the fan in the room was too noisy and dirty
Great position for all Wallingfords activities
Nothing I can think of
Wallingford is lovely and the hotel location was great for where we were going.
I needed to request a clean towel as the one in the room was dirty and we were ground floor next to the courtyard which was very noisy into the early hours which was annoying.
Location and car parking on site. Nice beer garden. Room was fair for the money
Location is great and staff very helpful and pleasant. Fresh towels and bedding.
Room was incredibly noisy (facing to main road) and heard every car, lorry and even people's conversations almost as if they were amplified. Room was dated, and really could do with a freshen up as
It was convenient.
Noise from the street at 4am. Dirty mugs and spoons upon arrival.
I was very impressed with the hotel, and will stay again if appropriate.
Nothing, really.
Traditional feel and welcoming staff

Breakfast was adequate, juice was a bit watery. Fan in the room was a godsend. Staff were friendly & helpful Tea/Coffee facilities in the room were excellent & even had oat milk - well done.
Shower in room was faulty & gushed out of bath tap at the same time Open landing window covered in cobwebs Rubbish in the back garden near car park. Not able to offer every dish on the menu as had run out/not had delivery?
Well played out staff really friendly
Car Parking was a little bit of a struggle.
Beliggenhet og personalet.

Central location lovely Area
TBH we’ve stayed before The hotel is looking tired House keeping were reported to reception for poor service on 2 evenings! Breakfast very good Only saw one waitress who was amazing Nothing was too much for her! Not value for money Won’t stay again Sorry☹️
Very convenient, clean and welcoming staff
There was nothing to dislike
The room was clean and the bathroom also. The bed was comfortable, and the tea and coffee facilities were satisfactory. Breakfast was very good, and the meal in the evening was lovely.
The room was looking tired. It was in the old part of the George, we had stayed in the new part before and that room was very good. The wardrobe was very antiquated so the door didn't shut correctly. The breakfast when helping yourself to fruit and cereals there were no serving utensils. They were very short staffed in the evening one girl looking after the bar and waiting on us in the bistro.
The staff were very welcoming. The room and breakfast were great.
Great place to go for a drink in the lovely courtyard and excellent food too. Libby, Scott and the team are very friendly and efficient with a special mention for Michael and Fred. Highly recommended
very good breakfast
lack ot parking spaces
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms
Everything from start to finish. A warm welcome from Lauren when we arrived.
Nothing
The staff were all smiling, polite and friendly. The breakfast had a variety of options and the location was brilliant, central to everything.
The safe in our room was damaged and we were only aware when I was about to use it. The inconvenience of having to lock valuables in the our suitcase was irritating but bearable as our stay was only one night. My rating would have been high but for this.
Breakfast was ok.
This attic room had very poor ventilation and it was a very hot night - The George should at least have provided a powerful fan. I chose the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast option - wish I hadn't - the menu choices for dinner were very limited and the food uninspiring to say the least.
Lovely rooms
Half used shower gel from previous guests left in the shower
The location was excellent with a brilliant bus service to other places, we did not eat breakfast as it was a little over priced.
The room could have done with more storage space for clothes, 2 small bedside drawers was ok for a short stay but any longer they would have been inadequate.
Fabulous location in the centre of the town. Good breakfast and lovely courtyard for relaxing outside in the sunshine. Quiet and spacious room.
The area was lovely perfect for where we needed to get to. The breakfast was very nice
The bathroom and bed was clean but there was a fan supplied that had clear years worth of dust in it, as well as dusty sides. The carpet also looked like it needed a good hoover.
Lovely pub with very well appointed rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful and food very good.
Nothing
Lovely place - staff were pleasant and bed was so comfy
All good
Airy room
Warm welcome, comfortable and clean room and excellent food.

8.6/10Rooms generally described as comfortable, cosy and in some cases spacious with good beds; occasional comments about smaller rooms or stairs to certain rooms.
