Reviewed Sep 13, 2026L'hotel est très bien situé, calme, proche des quais, de cafés et restaurants et à quelques pas seulement d'une station de tram menant directement au centre ville historique (aussi proche à pieds) et à la gare. Les tickets de tram étaient inclus dans le séjour. Le personnel est très accueillant.
En pleine canicule (exceptionnelle pour la région), il faisait très chaud dans la chambre, mais l'hôtel a mis à disposition un ventilateur et des boissons fraîches. J'y retournerai cependant volontiers l'été lorsque les températures sont normales.

They have a brunch that is over the top generous and varied for the price. 24* coffee and tea. A very well equipped room with all the usual shower accoutrement, but a shoe horn, umbrella and slippers. FREE WATER, w fizz and wo, Pepsi and a beer- replaced every day. Full room clean every day. I had a small twin room but it still had a desk, frig and a big bathroom with a TUB.

There was a misunderstanding, probably because we're young, as we had the "quick breakfast". We asked the kitchen staff what we were supposed to eat but then at the check out the receptionist told us we ate way more than what we were allowed.

Badewanne: Zu- und Abgang für ältere Leute zu umständlich. Bei geöffneter Klapptüre nach innen ist der Abstand Türe zur Wand sehr eng bemessen. Leider keine Schiebetüre. Ansonsten sehr schönes Badezimmer

Wir übernachten zum zweiten Mal im August in diesem Hotel weil wir uns dort wohlfühlen . Leider trotzt Zimmer zum Garten gab es auch Nacht keine Abkühlung. Bekanntlich sind alle Zimmer nicht klimatisiert, gelegentlich steht einen Ventilator zu Verfügung, der nicht gerade der leiseste ist. Unser Meinung nach ist deswegen das Hotel Wettstein bei hohen Temperaturen nicht zu empfehlen

Lage: Unschlagbar. 5 min. fußläufig zum Rhein (Wettsteinbrücke); dann Zugang zum Rheinschwimmen. 1 min. fußläufig zu Straßenbahn/Bus. Zwei Haltestellen in die Baseler Innenstadt. 4 Haltestellen (mit Bus) zum Schiffsanleger für Rundfahrten.
Zimmer: Etwas beengt - Eigentlich ein Bett mit Umlauf. Das Zimmer selber war sehr sauber mit hochwertigen Böden. Aufgrund der sommerlichen Hitze wurde zwar ein Standventilator aufgestellt, der allerdings relativ wenig Effekt hatte die Tageshitze über die Nacht aus dem Zimmer zu bekommen.

It was also right by a stretch of the river where there is a rocky beach that people relax at and swoosh in the river from. And next to that was also a stretch of outdoor bars to watch the swimmers go by and enjoy the evening at. Staff all very nice.
No air-conditioning meant the room was unbearably hot. Sleeping was very difficult, because with the windows open the traffic noise was significant all night and there were bright lights outside. If we hadn't been there during a 35+ degree heatwave it would have been absolutely fine and lovely, as otherwise it was a great hotel in a great location.

Very good location, underground parking (a bit tight though), super nice room, big and comfortable bed, and the breakfast … the view, the garden, the options, just insane ! 🫶🏻

The location is excellent and very convenient for reaching the city centre and exploring Basel. We also really appreciated the complimentary minibar in the room, a thoughtful extra that is certainly not something to take for granted. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.
The only aspect that could be improved is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. On particularly hot days, the temperature can become a little uncomfortable, although fans are provided by the hotel.
