Beautiful hotel and grounds. I wish the pool had cocktail service during pool hours. The wines were not so tasty, but the gorgeous rooms and environment made up for it, lol
Super cute boutique feeling getaway. The highlight was the rooms they have vaulted ceilings, huge tubs & walk-in shower. Really felt like your own mini home right on the vineyard.
Everything was nice, clean, easy and friendly. Nice view and very convenient the shuttle bus

How relax and comfortable you feel, the beautiful view and also their breakfast was delicious
EVERYTHING!!!! This place is my favorite getaway/ disconnect from the world spot!!
Carter Estate is a beautiful and peaceful hotel with amazing views. The room was extremely spacious—around 700 sq. ft.—with a comfortable king-size bed, queen pull-out sofa, dining table, and plenty of room to relax. The bathroom was especially impressive: high-end marble finishes, a large walk-in shower, two oversized sinks, and a massive jetted tub that felt almost as big as a guest room at some hotels! Our rooms were connected through a private foyer with an exterior door, which is perfect for families traveling with kids. Sitting on the balcony in the morning, enjoying the scenery and watching the hot air balloons was an amazing experience. With only about 60 rooms, the property feels very private and quiet, and each room offers plenty of separation from neighboring guests. The pool area was also updated and very well maintained. Carter Estate is a perfect choice for anyone looking for peace, privacy, spacious accommodations, and beautiful Wine Country views.
Great place to get away from it all.peace and quiet is unbelievable 😀. Jacuzzi tub makes it hard to leave. Keep up the great work!
Location, pool, jacuzzi, quietness.
They use to have a breakfast delivered to your room and it’s not there anymore. Disappointed. Hung out at the pool and no one came to take a lunch order.
The room backed up to a vineyard, the scenery was beautiful. It was quiet except for the neighbors slamming the room doors next to us & talking very loud in the foyer.
The room was beautiful solid price and well maintained. In the morning you can see the hot air balloons taking off it was nice.
Great room. Great view. Above average but not spectacular breakfast. The "mini fridge" in the room was just a cooler and we had issues getting a real fridge for our breast milk delivered. Added unnecessary stress to our stay. Thank goodness for Caroline at the desk who picked up the slack of the earlier shift's mistakes. Wake up early and watch the balloons from outside your room over breakfast.
The rooms are very nice, lots of space......they need to start replacing the black-out curtains, they are starting to shred and on a previous stay, half of the curtains were coming out of the connecting hooks, pool is awesome, quiet....enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine. We were in town for a concert. The A/C is a tad loud when it turns on and off, but if you're not a light sleeper, this is the place for you!
I really enjoy this property. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway in the middle of wine country, then this is the place for you. It's so peaceful and beautiful. The rooms are a good size and it's great to awaken to the vineyard every morning. The staff is very helpful and outgoing and it's great perk to have access to a shuttle to go back and forth to South Coast Winery. My biggest issue, was having the room updated. Apparently some rooms have a let out bed as a bed and it should be an actual bed. I wasn't made aware of this until after I had checked in.
We paid too much money to sleep on a stiff warped Murphy Couch Bed. Didn’t get any rest on the horrible bed and it gave me back stiffness and my legs were hanging off the bed .
Great, large room with patio overlooking the vineyard.
Our stay was very nice and cozy. The bathroom was huge and very nice. We loved it. We would definitely stay here again. I recommend this hotel.
This was my second time staying here and unfortunately was very uncomfortable and got s skin rash after using the Jet bathtub.
Lovely vineyards- Quaint bungalow with an amazing soaking tub.
No food on property outside of 7-11 style packaged snacks. A limited menu is available to order which doesn’t offer food sensitivity options.
The property was beautiful. Love that I was able to walk out to the winery from our room.
No complaints
Really nice boutique type atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of a large resort. Views and landscaping were impeccable. Room was comfortable with high ceilings, expansive bathroom area and nice patio and views
The patio view was breathtaking. Watching the sunset with my boyfriend filled our hearts with happiness. It was a truly unforgettable evening.
I liked the quiet and the patio that faced the vineyards. It was peaceful and beautiful.
They need to replace the carpets with vinyl flooring. The carpets were stained and dirty.
Location and architecture was beautiful…Staff was friendly and professional at check in and out.
VERY outdated interior/room. Carpet was old, stained , and wrinkled. Bed was uncomfortable and was coming out of an ugly sofa base. Curtains were wrinkled and cheap looking, and there was a big sticky stain in the refrigerator. Pool and jacuzzi need updating too. Lovely property but rooms were not good.
The peaceful setting was wonderful
Nothing
Incredible venue with wine country charm, come for the location and stay for the amenities. Wine that punches above it's weight class and views that are better than Paso.
Gorgeous property, in my opinion they can provide the best accommodations in the wine country. Rooms are very spacious. The views of the vineyards from the patios are mesmerizing and relaxing. Plenty of trails for your walk around. The tasting room is one of my favorites, love their champagne.
Views/panorama. Great room.
All was fine.
Carter Estate Winery and Resort is a wonderful place to stay - if you know a few things in advance. Pros: Great location in the middle of their vineyard, in the middle of the Temecula wine country. Each bungalow has a private patio facing the vines. It’s so relaxing to unwind with a glass of wine and take in the beauty. If you book through them directly they even give you a bottle of wine upon check-in! On some mornings around 6:30am you will see hot air balloons which is so fun. Bungalows are spacious, with high ceilings and impossibly large bathrooms. Linens are exceptionally white, soft and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Shuttle to their sister property South Coast Winery is convenient when running. Room service usually arrives quite speedily. Cons: Bungalows, while nice, have become somewhat dated over time. We found wear marks and staining on furniture and window treatments. They are in need of a refresh and I would get rid of the carpeting. Food/beverage leaves a lot to be desired and does not reflect what is shown on the website. In-room dining comes in compostable packaging with plastic utensils in plastic bags. The Vineyard Grill has limited availability poolside and while we did not sample that on this trip, it’s not as “high end” as the web site indicates. Just be aware. There is no bar. The small pool is nice and very kid-friendly. At least on our two-day stay there were always loud kids there. Again just be aware if you’re there for peace and quiet (maybe a bit better during the week)? Otherwise, we love staying at Carter and will return.

the sunrise side and had a wonderful experience, which is why we chose to return. Unfortunately, this visit was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we discovered a bag of dog waste left on our patio, which immediately put a damper on the experience. The room itself appeared to be in need of some attention and updating. The headboard had peeling leather, the blue accent wall was covered with noticeable white scratches, and one of the bathrobes even had a hole next to the hotel logo. Considering the price of the room, we expected a much higher standard of maintenance and presentation. These issues made the room feel worn, dated, and far less luxurious than advertised. The following morning, we planned to enjoy coffee and breakfast on the property before starting our day. To our surprise, the restaurant was closed, and the only options available were room service or the in-room Keurig machine. This was particularly frustrating because the hotel's advertising creates the expectation that on-site dining is readily available. Instead, we had to leave the property and search elsewhere for breakfast and coffee. While we have fond memories of our previous stay, this visit fell well short of expectations. For the rates being charged, guests should receive accommodations that are well maintained and amenities that match what is advertised.
We had an enjoyable stay at Carter. Let's get the "bad" out of the way first. If you look at the photos and think the decor is dated and a lot of brown, you would be correct. Yes, someone tried to do Italian/Tuscan decor blended with suburban Temecula. No getting around that. It needs a serious refresh but it's also very clean. The fact remains that there is a nice (electric) fireplace, a large enough soaking tub for two, a large shower with two heads, comfy bed and a nice patio overlooking the vines. You can sip you coffee or wine and enjoy the quiet in privacy, surrounded by roses and greenery. There is also a beverage fridge, coffee maker and bottle of wine provided at check in. These units consist of only two rooms, with one shared wall. The amenities of these cute little private suites outweigh the decor by a lot. Just sit back, relax and enjoy. Comfy and cozy. The location, if you are wine tasting, is perfect. Service was excellent. We did not order room service or use the pool. We did take a nice walk around the vines/winery paths. This was a last-minute stay for a birthday. We are very picky hotel snobs and some reviews made me nervous. When I walked in the room I'll be honest I was a little disappointed. However I walked out relaxed and happy. Tone done your inner snob, chill, drink some wine and enjoy. We will be back.
Nice room located right in the vineyards. Very well located and easy check in. The bathroom has a nice jetted tub and a seperate large shower.
The bed was a fold up Murphy bed with a matress that wasn't much more than a futon. The bedding was on the cheap side, and not at all luxureous. For this price range I expected a little more in that respect.
The patio over looking the vineyards.
Room was well appointed, view of vineyard was lovely, and staff was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the pool & spa.
Seemed a little pricey. Wished the Tasting Room stayed open later than 5 pm. Huge Spiderweb on patio, spiders in the room.
Beautiful vineyard- wonderful views. Terrific wine. Over priced rooms- need new carpet. Pool is lovely, and staff working there were so polite and welcoming!
Small place, small room, no help, uncomfortable bed, very high price , unhelpful staff, very disappointed with experience
Do not stay there. There is nothing to do at all. Do not get tempted by Resort and Winery in their title. Everything is absent - no restaurant - there supposed to be some kind of Pool side grill which was also closed and no way to get anything to eat or drink. We were offered a shuttle to some nearby restaurant - which we flatly refused. This place is by no means "resort" - there are hundreds of places around much better. Do not even go there - it is like dead zone - absolutely nothing is going on. We did not even stay after checking in and seeing that there was nothing available - we have left. I will be dealing with Chase requesting full refund. The weekend was ruined.
Quiet, clean, hot air balloons in the early morning!
Nothing
I liked location
The rooms have pull out couches for beds. Mattresses is not comfortable and mattress are short. Also the WiFi is spotty , unable to watch a movie on the tv.
Rooms were nice and comfortable. Beautiful view and quite relaxation.
The room service was the only way to get food and drinks and it was horrible. We don’t even finish the pancakes for breakfast. However there were a lot of nearby wineries that had nice restaurants.
I am so sad to have to write this review. My wife and I have been going to Carter yearly for about 5 years now. We just love the quiet atmosphere and the rooms over looking the vines. Stunning! But sadly, the place is desperate need of a refurbishment now. It just did not have the same magic feeling as years past. I really hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and invests in the estate. We hope to be back next year but for the first time will research other estates for our 2 night stay. Here are the issues: 1. Stains and worn furniture and inside of the rooms. Just reslly damped down the vibes (see the pictures) 2. Really bummed they discontinued the continental breakfast they brought to the room. We loved getting up early, snacking and having coffee while we watched the hot air balloons. 3. Was greeted with a huge spider on our pillow as we entered the room. 4. TV reception didn’t work well at all. Not a huge deal as we did not use it much but to have it basically non-functional was disappointing especially considering the cost of the rooms. Just a total meh time and no where close to the standards we were used to at this resort. Made us sad.
If you have never been here, you are missing out. Beautiful rooms and property to enjoy their patios, pool, wine tasting, and walk in the vines. We have been going here for years.
Loved the outdoor space for our puppy
Rooms were a bit dated
Wonderful and quite beautiful, the staff were amazing and wine was high quality.. nice to not have a headache after tasting.
My Wife and I stayed for a long weekend and were thrilled with Carter Estate's location, service, and amenities for a relaxing getaway! Our room was spacious with a wonderful view and patio. We most certainly will be looking forward to our next stay!
The center of wine country with beautiful bungalows overlooking the vineyards!
A few minor maintenance issues in the bungalow that should be addressed.
Such a peaceful stay!
I would love to visit again after they’ve finished updating the rooms.
Its location, relevant to some great wineries, including their own.
Not that we didn’t like it, but we were a little disappointed that it doesn’t have a spa.
I like the location and the privacy.
That it is private and intimate.
I recently stayed at Carter Estate Winery, and it was truly unforgettable. The private bungalows made the whole experience feel peaceful and luxurious, and having the pool just steps away was such a treat. Every staff member I interacted with was genuinely kind and helpful, which made the stay feel even more special. The property itself is stunning — I enjoyed a breathtaking sunset and an equally beautiful sunrise the next morning, complete with hot air balloons drifting across the sky. It felt like a perfect little escape, and I’m already looking forward to returning.
Большой красивый номер, великолепный вид с террасы, необычно большая ванная комната.
Мы путешествовали семьей (3 человека) в номере постоянно чего-то не хватало, то кружки, бокала, халата, Геля для душа вообще не было, а в остальном все отлично.
Highly recommended Resort, great privacy, price, spacious Villas with covered private outdoor seating area and amazing panoramic views of the mountains, vineyards and best location, caring staff and best wine in the Valley. We are so glad we're a Wine Club Member for years with all the discounts, our favorite bottle of wines, amenities and special treatments plus a bottle of Carter Estate wine upon check in, thank you, we'll be back again soon, best rating in our opinion.
Such an amazing stay. The location was perfect. The room was absolutely amazing. The bed almost commands you to stay in it, it’s so comfortable. The bath tub is HUGE. An astounding view with a private balcony. Even though it was cold, spent every night out there listening to music in the distance. Stargazing. Saw wildlife walk by a couple times. It was all so surreal. Went on a hot air balloon ride and this was 1 mile from where the balloon ride meeting place was. Couldn’t have asked for a better time or stay. Will definitely be staying here again if they have the availability.
The room was nice and we had a patio and faux fireplace. The room looked updated and we called for housekeeping and they came right away.
We had a great time staying at Carter’s. We came down to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Rooms are clean and staff is nice. I wish we would have booked 2 nights instead of one but definitely be back soon
Unique location with wonderful views of the Wine Valley. Great comfortable rooms. Well maintained, and kind staff. From the arrival to the departure that staff was friendly, efficient and attentive. Spend two wonderful nights celebrating with family...
Your property is in a great location, the two adjoining rooms worked well for our family, and everything looked beautiful—both online and in person. We were also looking forward to the breakfast, but our experience was disappointing. When we arrived, the information we received about breakfast was confusing. We had expected a sit-down dining experience where we could enjoy a meal together as a family, but that turned out not to be the case. The food itself was underwhelming: the eggs were cold and tasted like they came from a powdered mix, and the breakfast burrito appeared artificially colored and lacked flavor. It's surprising that such a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds falls short in areas like clear communication and food quality. We would genuinely like to return, but not unless these issues are addressed.
Convenient location for visiting Temecula wineries. Rooms are specious and well decorated. Patio on the vineyard is nice for watching hot air balloons pass by. Easy parking. Bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the wines at the winery. Only drawback was there was a small tv in the room. Other than that, a perfect stay
Location, views, Accommodating friendly staff and jacuzzi tub.
The age of the Murphy bed and stained old carpeting. The owner is 100% responsible in investing back into their hotel. It shows they do not care but only the bottom dollar profit takes presidency.
Check in time is 4 o’clock. Our rooms were not ready. They told me they would call me when they were ready. We had to go check at 5 o’clock. No one was at the office. I had to call and get someone to come. We were told there was food being served at the pool area. Apparently that’s not even a thing they do. The girl in the front desk was very rude. I would never ever stay there again. I’d rather give my money to another location that appreciates your customers.
Everything.
Great location. Large rooms with an incredible view. Near South coast and Ponte wyneries that offers Great restaurant options
Lovely stay at Carter Estate. Room was clean and grounds were well kept. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere! We stayed for 2 night for NYE. The weather was cold and rainy but the fireplace kept our room cozy. We also had a nice view and the vineyards and hot air balloons from our patio.
Love this place. Peace and quiet, lovely views of the vineyard, nice rooms and my favorite is the soaker tub. Located in the middle of wine country but not overly crowded like some of the other resorts.
Not clean, poorly kept up bedding and carpet. Vomit stains on the side of the bed, caved in mattress, sauce stains on the wall.. this is supposed to be an adult only hotel…
Took a timeout from the city for a couple days and had a wonderful stay at Carter Estate. The bungalow was large with high ceilings, the food was delicious and we always like taking a walk around the property. Parking is easy and right in front of your room.
Great location and wine was really good.
We had the Murphy bed and one side of the bed the bar was coming off but my husband fixed it. When I went to lift the bed up to turn it into a sofa the wallpaper on the other side was completely peeled off of one side it just was an eye sore. There also was a big stain on the carpet.
Lovely location. Didn’t live the bed but everything else was fabulous. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, a friendly face and a lovely view. I really like this place.
Beautiful location - our room was ten feet across from the vineyard. The patio of our room faced out , looking out at the vineyard and rolling hills in the background was so refreshing. Maya, working at the reception desk made the trip that much nicer. Good customer service seems so increasingly rare. Management should know of / recognize Maya's professional, personable and customer service oriented disposition. We had a couple of housekeeping requests which were handled very well. Thank you Maya. Good wine. Thank you Carter Estates.
We have stayed here before and love this place. We enjoy sitting on the patio, drinking wine and looking out over the vineyards! Room are great and we like the hot tub.
We loved our stay. Our bungalow exceeded our expectations. The tub and walking in show were amazing! The view of the winery, from our private balcony, was spectacular. Sunrise was breath taking! 5 stars all the way!
The property is in a great location: easy to get to other wineries for wine tasting. The casitas are set back from the main road and were quiet. Shuttles were available to the South Coast Winery & Resort which made it nice to have dinner there. It’s an attractive property.
The room had a king sofa bed for the primary bed. It was marginally comfortable. Water pressure in showers was weak. The electric fireplace in the room was very noisy to run although it gave off good heat.
Slipped away for a two night vacation to explore Temecula. We loved Carter Estate. Very intimate and we almost had the place to ourselves. Rooms are huge with a giant bathtub. We had a Murphy bed room and were surprised at how comfy the bed was. Lovely to have a table outside on the patio right on the vineyard. Downside is there really is no food service after lunch so we were a bit at odds at dinner time not really wanting to venture out. The wines themselves are quite good. Much higher quality than their sister property across the street. Some very acceptable tastings. We had a package that included the tasting. Not sure I would have paid 30 pp otherwise. Only comment about the rooms was the very small tv which dated the room and made out typical evening Netflix impossible. An easy fix. Bigger and better quality needed.
Huge bungalows overlooking vineyards, we woke up to incredible sunrise and hot air baloons! make sure you order their delicious breakfest board!
Un lugar donde puedes platicar y meditar con mucha facilidad
My boyfriend and I stayed in a Murphy bed bungalow this past weekend. When we checked in we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies. They gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and it was delicious! The bed was comfortable for being a pullout. The room and bathroom are a nice size. The rooms are dated but they go with the ambiance. They are very clean. The views from the patio are breathtaking! Very romantic! I wish it wasn’t raining this past weekend as I would have loved to walk around the vineyards! We will definitely be back. The parking area is very accessible!
We love staying at Carter Estates, it is our go to spot in Temecula. The private bungalows in the vineyard is just a fairytale stay, and the staff is always super helpful and accommodating. We also love that south Coast winery, which is our favorite wineries across the street and Ponte winery is right next-door I didn’t know we could get shuttle service until this trip to those locations so I’m very happy about it and we can’t wait to stay again.
