Beautiful period home in a safe and convenient location. Ample free parking in front of the building. Our bedroom was immaculate and well-appointed. Breakfast (included) was lovely. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place

It is a quaint, beautiful Victorian home that is well-maintained, with charming appointments in each room. We were greeted with the aroma of home-baked goods for breakfast along with a choice of savoury or sweet mains. The French Press coffee accompanied the meal, and everything was delicious. The hosts and manager were lovely and attentive to our needs.

This property needs more interior upkeep: maintenance, not renovations. It is overpriced. The gourmet breakfast was delicious but more like a lunch (no fresh fruit, no bread basket, juice must be requested). The Lasalle bedroom was spacious and comfortable but needs a flow control on the central air outlet. There is no thermostat in the room; we were freezing on the first evening.

Lovely, well maintained, heritage property. Great place but not really for me. It is not suitable for many seniors - stairs are taxing, units are over air conditioned, no desk service. The amenities listed - dining room, lounge, cafe are only available by appointment. On holidays one might want a more relaxed schedule.

The hotel is big, old and beautiful. The rooms were bright, lovely decor and fresh. The staff was the icing on the cake. Thank-you for the hospitality 😊

Josh was exceptional. The breakfasts were way above (think smoked salmon Benedict on vol-au-vents). It's a beautiful building in a quiet neighborhood less than 5 minutes from downtown

Lovely setting. Very easy access to downtown and harbour. No air conditioning, and no elevator, so possibly not ideal for those with limited mobility.

What an amazing stay, beautiful inn with luxurious accommodations. Very attentive staff and the most delicious breakfast. It was better than expected, would definitely stay hete again. Walking to downtown Kingston was a 8 min walk on lovely quiet streets. So convenient to have onsite parking as well.

We had a very nice stay at The Secret Garden

Staff was amazing! Food was amazing! Garden was amazing! I think there should be a garbage can beside the fridge and one in the bathroom. When someone is in the washroom, no place to put garbage.

We were pleasantly suprised with how charming the house and property is. From the front porch swinging bench, to the well maintained gardens and pond. The service is also above and beyond. Josh greeted us all day with a huge smile and generously helpful. We also had the Fondue dinner which was such a fun way to end the day. We will definitely stay again. Great for couples.

During our three night stay in June we were very pleased with our accommodations at The Secret Garden. It is obvious that the proprietors set the bar high for comfort and satisfaction for their guests. The decor and furnishings were in excellent condition and authentic for the period of this fine old home. Just a couple of minor glitches. The glasses / coffee cups in the room during our first night were a bit grimy and we gave them a wash and mentioned it to the staff who made sure to supply fresh ones for the next night. Due to a scheduling glitch (Expedia?) we were moved to another room after the first night, but no complaints as the room was a bit of an upgrade and one of the staff moved our stuff while were were out, after breakfast, including our fridge contents, which was very helpful. The beds / pillows / duvets in both rooms were amazing - like sleeping on a cloud. One other minor issue was that there was a bit too much load on the electrics in our second room, when we used the Dyson fan, TV and a couple of chargers on an extension which was drawing from the same circuit as the fridge - resulting in a blown breaker, but Cyrus got it reset for us and we were careful to rearrange the plug-ins a bit, afterwards. This was the only reason I didn't rate the property full marks.

Our stay was amazing. The home is spectacular! Breakfast was delicious!! Best part was Josh, the host. He’s a definite keeper. He made us feel so welcome and catered to our every need. Thank you Josh.

A fantastic getaway very close to downtown Kingston and the waterfront! Comfortable, elegant, well-appointed rooms with perfectly-manicured gardens and seating areas. Oh and the breakfast was fresh and delicious.

I had a very enjoyable stay and appreciated the attentive service, the gracious reception rooms and the gorgeous gardens and the delicious breakfast. My room was very attractive and comfortable especially the bed. I slept very well. The room could have been a bit warm but a fan and an operable window ensured it was cool enough at night. The bright modern bathroom was well appointed. And views from sitting areas were beautiful. Thanks so much!

The property is historic and has been lovingly restored and maintained. It is in a quiet neighbourhood and the garden is delightful. There are however a lot of stairs to get to the bedrooms which might matter to some people, and the soaps & shampoo have a very strong fragrance which I didn't like. The scone was the best part of breakfast.

Beautifully decorated, stately elegant home for a relaxing time in historic Kingston. Great location for walking to shops/restaurants on Princess Avenue. Would prefer the dispensers to be less FORCEFUL, as the lovely Wellington Soap products are all quite viscous. Gorgeous 4poster bed in McKay Suite. See you again, when the garden is blooming!

Enjoyed my complementary morning coffee in their comfy bathrobes on the porch swing in the middle of an ice storm. The morning breakfast was lovely, enjoyed the ensuite and fireplace in the McKay room.

Beautiful property; we were in the MacKay room and enjoy the spacious room, delicious breakfast and the staff are wonderful. We left our car parked and walked to everything. Dining choices abound. I would recommend this to adults and save time to relax on the porch.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this daringly restored magnificent Victorian heritage property. Staff were attentive and friendly. They left clear instructions and keys for my late check in and even packed delicious homemade scones as I left before breakfast service on my last day. The breakfast of either grilled portobello mushroom on toast with poached egg and pesto or fresh fruit crepe was scrumptious. Being Queens alumni, I appreciated the significance of staying in the Bader room. The four poster bed was very comfortable with an assortment of pillows. Custom Secret Garden toiletries manufactured in Kingston were luxurious. Being an avid gardener, I enjoyed the well kept gardens immensely. It was so nice to relax at the end of the day by the koi pond or on the porch swing. I would highly recommend this gem and will stay again. Many thanks to the owner Jason who even contacted me to ensure my stay was perfect.

This is lovely BnB. The air conditioning is regulated centrally for the rooms. Ours at the top of the house was quite hot and we had to ask them to put the heat down. Would have appreciated if this was pointed out to us. Otherwise a beautiful experience.

Lovely heritage property with gorgeous gardens, elegant decour and beautiful stained glass windows throughout. All staff were welcoming, friendly and provided top notch service. Wish we had more than just one night.

Cute bed and breakfast. Food was good. Friendly and helpful staff The bed was far too high! I literally had to put my foot on the bed rails and jump into bed! If I was older or had bad knees or hips I never would have been able to get into the bed. There was a small stair but not enough room on my side of the bed to put it there and it was a tripping hazard in the middle of the night Also, Covid is over! Time to tidy the rooms and fresh towels!

Lovely place! Beautiful environment. We really liked our room, it was charming spacious enough, bed was comfortable. Really loved the washroom, modern yet reminiscent of the era of the house. Highly recommend staying here.

The property is lovely. Our main complaint was the room we booked had a bathroom located down the hall. It was private but you had to leave your room and walk down the hall to use the bathroom, shower etc. not much fun in the middle of the night. We were not made aware of this until check in. I may not have booked had I been aware of this. Awkward if you ran into someone else coming out of their room.

This is a lovely B&B in the heart of downtown Kingston. The rooms are beautifully updated with quality amenities for coffee, small fridge, toiletries etc. The location is perfect for exploring Kingston or attending business at the hospital or university.

Beautiful inn! We had a lovely stay in the Martello room. It was an extremely cold weekend in Kingston and it was so nice to come back to our cozy room with the fireplace. Our breakfast in the morning was delicious and the staff was very attentive.

This is a beautiful, historic property that is conveniently located between the downtown core/waterfront and the Queen's campus (both easily walkable in less than 10 minutes). Staff was very friendly for our full stay. We arrived past the normal check-in time, which we notified the Inn ahead of time. We were warmly welcomed, and the manager went out of her way to ensure we were comfortably settled-in from our journey. The only disappointment was after our first night. We hung the "Please make up the room" door hanger, but there was no service to the room during the day.

The only problem with the detached bathroom was the worry of disturbing other rooms during the night. While the breakfasts were good I prefer a variety of things to eat each morning. Over all our stay was outstanding and we will stay again.

Great Location, Great Hosts

The B&B itself is lovely and well located in Kingston. The bed was fantastic. The bathroom was super modern and shower great but typical - form over function and there was no counter space. The B&B is also in an old house and had tons of charm and original features - but it was not quiet. You can hear people walking above you, hear TVs and talking from other rooms and the fan in our room went on and off and when it came on - it was loud. Just things to consider. Finally - breakfast, which was included - was nice but for the price being charged per room - I feel they could have offered a lot more. We wouldn't stay again

The house and gardens were very beautifully done. Staff - including Chef from Newcastle, U.K. - were delightful. Breakfast was deliciously and artistically prepared. Our room was on the very top floor which would be challenging to some given the extensive stairs and potential difficulties in bringing up luggage. Conveniently located both to downtown restaurants and to University campus.

Beautiful vintage property with just enough contemporary zing to the decor. Especially loved the pretty bathroom with the huge shower. There were also many small thoughtful extras in the room. We have already recommended The Secret Garden to friends.

Our stay at the inn was fab! Would recommend for anyone coming to Kingston who would like to explore downtown, but also have a cozy place to stay at the end of the eve. Breakfast was also SO GOOD! Such an enchanting little Bnb - we will be back!

The property is very nice, beautiful garden and nice porch. Our room was on the third floor; during our stay it was very hot in Kingston and I'm guessing the AC was not having good reach up there. There was a fan in the room that helped a bit. Also, the room had the bathroom outside on the hallway. Private bathroom, but on the main hallway.

It is an old building made very comfortable and friendly yet up to date with rooms and decor.

The property is a renovated heritage property that is outstanding with a garden that is a delight.
