La Roma Motel

Ok for a one night stay passing through but the sheet and spreads were way too small. They only covered half way up the bed and very thin.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had amazing food.

Horrible bathroom

Needs to be updated dirt on all doors, shower old and lots of black in tiles. Face cloth and towels had dirt stains. The main ceiling fan light flickered off and on then wouldn’t work. Strong air freshener type smell caused stuffiness. Restaurant didn’t open until 10:30 so not able to get breakfast. Check in was easy and friendly staff. Could hear the tv next door through the night.

Room was clean but this is an old motel, very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Dirty old comforter on the bed. Worn floors, moldy tiles, very worn sofa. Would never stay here again! Not sure why people rated it a 4 out of 5 stars! Really a two at best!!!

The staff member we dealt with was great. However, the rooms (we had two stays there, on our way to and from Ottawa) could have been much cleaner. There was dust under the TV, etc. and the floors were filthy, in both rooms in which we stayed - #1 and #12. In the latter room, the bathtub faucet and spout were all water stained, so we did not even shower. We got up in the morning and put our clothes on and left. We will not be staying there on any future travels. The bathroom floor tile in #12 were all broken and had some odd pieces filling in. The workmanship was terrible. Caulking looked like a child had done it with gobby icing. The rooms really need fussing up if they want to have their business survive. It’s unfortunate. Donna

Excellent restaurant attached

How is this 3 stars and above? Arrived for a two night stay and at first arrival the ceiling light was not working but figured it out much later through the dusty and rusty ceiling fan. The fan blades are warped from humidity; the floor is dirty by discovering black brown foot mark when wiping the floor outside the shower. The dresser drawer are all loose, no AC and an earwig crawled on me at night. The mold in the shower grout and the nasty dust in the bathroom ceiling vent says it all. What used to be a business of St. Basile for well over 40 years is no more of the basic standards. I truly hope their restaurant does not have the same issues for this would be surely health code violations. Sorry La Roma but you have seen the last of this writer.

This is by far NOT a 3.5 star accommodation I booked for a 2 night stay to visit family and upon arrival I was given key and wifi. Upon entering the room the ceiling fan did not work or its light but figured it out. The fan blades are warped from humidity and dusty, and the AC does not work , rather just for heat. The bathroom floor was dirty from wiping the water off the floor with the white towel, the dresser drawers are all loose and you could cut your feet by screws loose from the divider between the ceramic and cushion floor. And ventilation duct is dusty from well over a year untouched. the floor by the bed is dusty and filthy. the window sill could use another paint job. At least there was hot water enough for a shower and the main door lock and bolt worked. Sorry La Roma, I grew up with this establishment in my town for over 40 years. this is the worst i've ever seen it . Stay away anyone.

Clean room & friendly staff!

I have only good things to say about La Roma and its owners. Friendly, cheerful, helpful Owner & Wife. Room was clean clean clean. Yes, the motel is old, but its charming. There's an outdoor pool, access to a river with picnic tables on the lawn. Chairs outside the room allow for relaxing before dark. The bed was comfortable and the night was quiet. There's an attached restaurant with delicious Indian food. We enjoyed curry shrimp. This place is not luxurious but its extremely comfortable and very economical. Would not hesitate to stay here again on our way through .

This was a perfect spot while we were traveling and celebrated our 43rd Wedding Anniversary their . the staff gave us a basket of goodies to help celebrate and it was very nice of them. We were traveling with our Pocket Beagle and the hotel was very Pet Friendly.

Room was comfortable other than the jacuzzi tub we were looking forward to did not work unfortunately. Other than that the room was great.

Was very clean and easy to find. Owner has done a good job refurbishing an older motel. He was very nice to talk with. Price was very reasonable. Would definately stay again if going this way.

Everything about this motel screams "needs to be repaired or torn down". That is all I can say about it. If we weren't so tired I would have driven on.

This is an older hotel with a new owner. The room was older but clean with no rugs so no smell. The property is alongside a creek/stream and quite pretty. There is a pool but it was closed when we were there since it was September. This is a family run motel. It suited our needs well. The restaurant on site is Indian but other restaurants are just a short drive away.

We were welcomed back as we had been there last year, around the same time. Wonderful place, great location, very clean comfortable ad the food in the restaurant was to do for! We'll definitely be back.

Even though we got there later at night. The people who own the place where do helpful friendly and go out of there why to help you.

The door to our room did not shut all the way. The Temperature dipped down to freezing which made for an uncomfortable a cold sleep.. The good- I had the buttered chicken from their restaurant and it was excellent . All the staff were very pleasant and very accommodating . I definitely will be back

Friendly personable staff

The motel room was not ok. Awful actually. The door into the room doesn't close properly, which left a big crack between the door and trim. Perfect for mosquito and spiders. The air conditioner was really noisy and didn’t work properly...the fan kept seizing, making a screeching sound. The fan over the bed only worked when the lights were on. One switch worked the fan, lights over the tub and one over the tv. We removed the bulbs to use the fan because it was over 25⁰c. The toilet is crammed between the shower stall and wall, with barely enough room to sit for a 5ft 125 lb woman. The shower is tiny, old and leaky. This room needs a complete renovation. It is smelly with a strong scent of mold and worn out carpets. The bed was comfortable with clean bedding and good pillows. The restaurant is Indian food, it was fantastic and fairly priced. We had the Butter Chicken and Lemon Chicken dishes, both were really really good. We won't stay at the motel again but would visit the restaurant again.

Was not given information about climate control in unit poor property aesthetics sheets where not properly proportioned to the beds , very uncomfortable night,feel much over priced.

Unfortunately the beds were home made and not in a good way! The bathroom was old with rust in places.

A lovely old motel that, despite its age, was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, the staff polite and friendly. An excellent budget stay. And try Rani’s restaurant (which is part of the motel). Great Indian food!

Older, family run motel just outside Edmundston, N. B. that has been updated. Room was clean and smelled fresh. Perfect for our stop over stay as we were making our way to Nova Scotia.

This is a $99/night motel at best. The owners are doing the best they can with what they have but it's old and the rooms are dark and dingy. Some renos were done, but it needs more. Although it was very clean, I didn't want to walk on the floor barefoot.

I'm travelling with my autistic child and my service dog. I messaged to ask about requirements for my dog and the owner called back almost immediately to reassure me that there would be no hassle. The staff was so kind, and the restaurant on site was amazing! They even helped find an option for a rather picky child (Indian food is tricky!) Beautiful property and lovely experience all around

Good for one

It is an old motel with updates being made but stands out as best value in the area. Staff are awesome! Restaurant on site is fantastic.

The owner was so friendly. As I work in an Indian cuisine restaurant l, we werent in the mood for it. However, we were able to order from Uber Eats and it was super quick. The room was clean, ans the bed super comfortable. The AC was pretty loud, however, worth it as it was a warn night. The pool is cold, but clean and was fun to get out and be able to stretch our legs and move around as we have been on a 3 week road trip. Very impressed with our stay, and if we end up in this area again, we will absolutely stay there again.

Old and needs updating. Doors don't shut properly. Needs new beds. Could not turn off bedside lamp, had to unscrew the lightbulb.

The room didn’t look like the pictures online . The bedding was very poor quality. There were no blankets . Comforter was probably not cleaned in between clients . There was no towel bars . The bathroom was divided and the floors and walls had poor workmanship . I thought we payed a high price for the quality of the unit that stayed in .

The toilet pressure was low and leaking a bit. Motel was dated but comfortable and the owners were so kind. Would stay there again.

This property is EXTREMELY over priced and not well kept should be noted a a last resort or keep driving and pick the next available place !!! Not even any towels in the room !!! So displeased should be one step up from.sleeping in your car Should be $50 a night But the restaurant had excellent food.

This is our second time staying there, the owners and server at their new restaurant were amazing, they were all very friendly and kind, always ensuring their visitors were well taken care of, will definitely stay again next year during oir road trip.

The owners are making an effort to update the property and it is clean and comfortable. There is an outdoor pool that was great and an onsite Indian restaurant.

Lovely little spot just off the highway in Edmunston. Staff was extremely friendly, the place was clean and had all the basic amenities, and there was a nice little river with some chairs to sit in on the property, had a relaxing afternoon sitting with a book.

Surprisingly lovely property beside a river and parkland. I had my coffee by the river an d had a short run around the small park area. All staff were wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but barren. Motel life, I guess things would go a walkin’.

The beds were very hard and the sheets were old and worn. The room was clean bit the bathroom was tiny and I didn't want to shower there.

The bed and bedding was horrible. The air conditioner didn't work and we couldn't open the window, because the AC was in the window. The room overall was pieced together with random furniture. We will not be back and would never recommend. I wish new owners all the best, but I feel they should have done renos before opening.

Overpriced for a one star outdated hotel room. The bathroom only has 3 feet of space to move around in. Very basic room for $277.00 a night.

Quiet little motel just off the highway. Perfect for the overnight stop when driving out East from Ontario.

Stay for one night was fine, I think the price was a little high, but it did the job, also, the restaurant menu could have been in more English.

The family running this motel has owned it only for a year and a half and they are trying very hard to make it better, but it has a long way to go before it's work $260 a night. It’s clean enough but there are a lot of rough edges.

The room was very dated, not well kept. Bathroom very small, mold on the shower curtain and in the sink. Bolt on the door did not lock. A lot of hair on the towels and bedding. Floors very dirty. Connection to wifi non existant in the evening however, great in the morning. Noisy, with a constant knocking sound every 15 mins during our entire stay. Very overpriced.

The only motel that I could find 7 weeks prior to my trip. Easy access off the highway. Clean room but it is very dated.

It could use alot of modern upgrades. A larger washroom/showertub unit. New flooring in washroom as tiles all cracked up.

Becoming very rundown. Old cabins onsite falling apart. Did not want to remove shoes in room. Bathtub…no comment. Window air conditioner basically did nothing. It wasn't filthy, just didn't give you a good feeling. Severely overpriced but only one around with vacancy…go figure. Pictures are NOT current or reflective of how property looks.

What a charming place; a bubbling brook, rabbits, and lovely staff. While the facilities may appear to be from another era, I hope to see the new owners continue to bring new life to this lovely property.

Nice old style motel on the banks of a river. The rooms are somewhat dated but totally in keeping with the motel style. Staff weee super friendly, room was comfortable and the on site Indian resto was quite good!

Enroute from Nova Scotia to Ontario, there were no other available rooms on a Saturday night. We were too tired to keep going, so we made do. The room had a heavy smell of deodorizer, probably to mask mold or other odors. The blinds were broken, missing pieces and didn't fully cover the window. The bathroom was very tired and black mold was growing on the wall and back of shower curtain. The beds were hard but looked clean enough and we managed a reasonable sleep. We got up early and showered. Passing on the Kirkland coffee in the mugs that had a taste like the room deodorizer, we grabbed Tim Hortons instead.
