A big step into the room. You couldn’t get your hands under the sink to wash them and the sink was too high with gaps on either side for things to fall down. The main light was small and right over the tv. Only one side lamp for reading. My husband had no light to read by. One small bar of soap. The staff wanted to know if we were leaving early. They left a note that if you stained a towel you would have to pay for a replacement. You just really didn’t feel welcome. There was no microwave and you had to hang your jackets over the desk. I wouldn’t go back. It turned us off returning to Nelson.

The biggest problem for me was the air conditioning was in the bathroom vanity area and not in the bed/living area. So it was not comfortable sleeping. I had a hard time going to sleep and would wake up all sweaty. If they could move the air conditioning into the bed area it would be very good. We had a queen room.

I REALLY dislike the child size toilets that motels are using. As a older person, they are far too low. Very hard to sit down to and stand up from. Especially if there is no hand rail. The beds are just a bit too firm, could use a thicker topper.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026Stayed here before and was treated very well when we needing an unexpected room, so we knew this was where we wanted to stay again. The full size fridge in the type of room we were in was especially wonderful for those traveling who want to save some money on food.
We were in a family suit. I would have prefered if the bedroom also had a door on the other side with the hall for the bedroom/kitchen so kids can sleep with no lights from parents staying up. Also the hall light would be better no connected to the bathroom light for night time potty trips so others don't get woken up. Otherwise, we love the space.

My only real complaint is tied to the downside to stays in pet-friendly rooms. I'm quite allergic to cats and woke up with scratchy, sandpapery eyes. I can't say if it's feasible to fully clean up traces of dander, but would have preferred not to experience allergies resulting from a previous guest's pet.

There were no wardrobes in the room. But it wasn't a need, we still had a great time even without a wardrobe.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026The staff were wonderful—friendly and very accommodating. Although it’s an older motel, the rooms have been nicely renovated, are very clean, and well located. It was perfect for us as a couple traveling with picnic gear and larger luggage. The motel works well whether you’re staying short-term in an economy room or longer in a queen or king. Highly recommend if you value easy access to your car and a relaxed, practical stay, and aren’t too concerned about stylish décor.
The beds are comfortable, though the pillows weren’t to our taste (we brought our own).
