Firefly Beach Cottages

I loved that Firefly has a restaurant right on the beach, mid beach in fact. The restaurant has good food and drinks for the cheapest prices you'll find on the beach.

There is a restaurant next door (Chances) who hosts parties, it seemed like every other night during independence week and thr music was ear drum busting loud until 3 in the morning.

Our aparment at the Firefly Beach Cottages was cozy and clean. The cottages themselves are practically located at the beach, which was great for us. The private beach is a nice spot in the shade. The staff was lovely and helpful! The restaurant offers many delicious homestyle dishes and has rich breakfast options. A supermarket, as well as several restaurants are in walking distance. A walk to get downtown is around 30-40 minutes, a drive with a route taxi is about 5. We had a good experience with the latter. Overall, the stay was great, and we had a good time!

The only thing that was a little lacking, was the kitchen equipment. But it was enough for the two of us.

Unser Aufenthalt war fantastisch. Wir waren mit drei Generationen dort und von der 5-jährigen bis zur 60-jährigen waren alle begeistert. Wenn man ein familiäres, persönliches, landestypisch jamaikanisches Hotel möchte, ist man hier goldrichtig. Es gibt in der Nähe durchaus größere und luxuriösere Hotels, die aber lange nicht so einen entspannten jamaikanischen Vibe haben, wie das Firefly Beach. Trotzdem wird das Hotel hochprofessionell geführt. Wir hatten anfangs ein paar Beanstandungen, die am nächsten Morgen sofort und sehr professionell von Dennis vollends gelöst wurden. Man kann sich mit allen Angestellten unterhalten und auf Fragen und Sonderwünsche wird jederzeit nett und freundlich eingegangen. Das Hotel hat echten persönlichen Charakter und wir haben es geliebt. Die Küche im zugehörigen Restaurant ist wirklich richtig gut, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, welches in ähnlichen Restaurants viel schlechter ist, ist hervorragend. Die direkte Strandlage mit schattenspendenden Bäumen und die blumenreiche, gepflegte Anlage runden alles perfekt ab. Und last but not least: Wayne ist der beste Geburtstagsliedsänger auf ganz Jamaica. This man made my day.

Das Personal im zugehörigen Restaurant war langsam, teils unfreundlich und wenig aufmerksam. Es hat sehr lange gedauert bis das Essen oder auch nur eine Tasse Kaffee kam.

The WiFi was hit or miss

The beach area was the only thing we liked. The lady at the reception who tried to find us a solution.

I never leave bad reviews but this one does not even deserve the 3/10 that I gave. It is misleading and false advertising. This property is nowhere near a 4 star. The photos do not correspond to reality. The rooms are old, dark and cramped. We got to see 2 rooms because the first room was a box in a box where my husband and I couldn’t sleep, we both felt claustrophobic. The receptionist found us a different room for the next 5 nights. In the new room same problems: the shower is extremely tiny and uncomfortable, the WiFi doesn’t work and you can’t watch any tv because everything works through the WiFi. There are electric cables popping out the walls. There are no windows just shutters so you hear everything and everyone. No toiletries provided other than a small bar soap… and the list is long. Also the restaurant staff were not very polite and they tried to rip us off two times.

The location of Firefly Beach Cottages right on 7 Mile Beach is great! The food in the restaurant is really good and the vibe is nice. The staff at the front desk is very helpful and Dennis at the bar is the best. The cleaning was good and the beds nice. There is A/C and a fan in the room which is very good. Firefly offers beach towels to the guests which is nice. There is a good supermaket only a short walk away from the hotel. We had breakfast included which meant that we could choose one dish from the breakfast menue with a glass of juice and a cup of coffee.

It says on Booking that Firefly has a private beach but it hasn't. The beach area for the guests is extremely small and a lot of people not even staying at Firefly make reservations for the sunbeds early in the morning. A part of our group stayed in room 16, a room for four persons close to the road. It was extremely noisy! There is no glass in the windows isolating the noise, only insect nets and wooden blinds. At night you felt like the bed was in the middle of the road because of the loud traffic noise. At 3 AM the roosters started yelling and it felt like they were right there in your bedroom. It was awful. None of us got a good night's sleep during our 10 day stay. Addressed the problem at the front desk but they could not offer another room further away from the road. The standard of the room was very outdated. There was no warm water in the tap neither in the kitchen nor in the bathroom. If you wanted warm water you had to turn the shower on. The shower taps (one for hot and one for cold water) were loose and it felt like they were going to come off the wall when you turned them. The water pressure was very low at times but addressing this problem to the front desk resulted in a new shower head and the problem got solved. The kitchen was poorly equipped and there were no electrical outlets for the coffee maker or the toaster in the kitchen area so we had to have them on the floor in the livingroom area to be able to use them. The room was in general very dark and quite poorly decorated, so we stayed there as little as possible. A part of our group stayed in room 4, also close to the road, outdated, dark and noisy. The standard and comfort of the rooms we stayed in was not very good.

Friendly, courteous, attentive staff who made sure I was comfortable and my needs are met. I needed emergency cash and they were able to assist. Food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were delicious and excellent value, not to mention the open air and view of the water. Beautiful beach with tree-shaded area for getting out of the sun. Restaurants and a shopping center with a grocery store and pharmacy all within walking distance. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds.

Small things that can be easily improved - sliding entry door is very dificult to open (high friction), bathroom door cannot be closed, kettle not working, water stagnating in some old brokeb jacuzzy very close to cottage -> mosquitos were really present, etc)

We were upgraded to a lovely apartment on the beach called Pelican. It was super clean and great facilities. WiFi was good. Super friendly and attentive staff. Helped me with all my questions.

It was a little noisy on the first evening because there was a party on the beach a few properties away.

It is a perfect place just right on the beach. Very clean, well kept. Staff is amazing which is not a standard in Jamaica. Food in the restaurant very good which was a surprise as I find beach bars places where they serve bad food. This was not the case. Well equipped

The beach access and location is ideal for everyone at Firefly. The kitchen in the room we were in was well equipped and had everything that we needed to enjoy cooking our favorite meals while away from home.

The price of the room was excellent and the room was very spacious. Unfortunately, the resort had no power when we checked in. Thankfully, the bar had a generator and Sophia served up some awesome rum punches. The electricity was restored later, but in the morning we had no hot water to shower before check-out.

Although, I’ve been to Negril many times before, this was my first time staying at Firefly and I regret not staying there sooner. The grounds and well maintained, rooms are spacious and clean, staff members are extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend and look forward to staying there again!

Nous avions un studio en étage avec une grande terrasse qui donnait sur une décharge pas terrible !! On note le manque d'entretien c'est très vieillot. La propreté est pas top. Manque des ustensiles pour la cuisine des prises. Le personnel du restaurant pas très sympathique.

Everything was superior and we had the best stay. The location is right in the middle of 7 Mile Beach and right on the ocean. They had a restaurant there with very reasonable prices and good food. All the staff were helpful, friendly and on point.

So close to the beach and multiple nightly entertainment venues are just a short walk down the beach. Love the big tree on the beach!

The "bad" would be that it's not a fancy resort. If you're expecting something luxurious this isn't your place.

Everything was great, the location was the best, the staff were helpful, charming and attentive. What can I say it's right on the beach and so whichever unit you rent the beach is just steps away. There is a nice garden at the facility and they work hard to maintain it. It was beautiful. The mangrove tree is just at the beach with shade as cool if you didn't want to be in the sun. The restaurant had good food and very reasonable prices. $2.00 USD for Red Stripe during the day very cold and good. Our time there was too short and would definitely recommend it and would come back there if we could. Our room was clean, neat and working. Nothing bad here just a great place to stay. We actually stayed an extra day because it was so nice there.

Just the people walking along the beach trying to sell you stuff which is no reflection on the facility or the staff at Firefly.

The food was okay. When we had breakfast we had to contend with many sandflies.

I enjoyed every minute of my stay at Firefly Resort. The food is truly exceptional, the staff are now friends! The rooms and suites are very clean and comfortable.

Great location good enough apartment right on the seven mile beach , with good bar and restaurants and beach chairs on the sand by the beachfront, Prices are ok too. Hospitality by the staff was great. We had a good stay.

Service needs improvement and the apartmentstoo, the curtains stick at the front door was broken and the door key keeps stucking most of the times and they didn't fix it for us, position of our room was close to the street and little noisy, bedroom upstairs was little old and I found little bird poop on the beams, ok that is not big thing for me but can be for other peoples. We was told breakfast starts at 07 am but for real u can start order it at 08 am, that's alright not too bad but why not say the real start time. At least all was good enough.

The establishments are absolutely exquisite. You wake up to wild roosters cookooing nearby, beautiful landscape, close to the main strip for taxi services, groceries, general store and pharmacy. Quick stroll through beautifully catered gardens to the MAGNIFICENT 7 mile Negril beach. I stayed in two buildings here at Firefly, 2 days in the Apartment suite which was very clean, beautiful and open to the elements, and another 5 days in the Single Cottage. The cottage was absolutely breathtaking and such a surprise, wow. You will spend most of your time out exploring but coming back to Firefly at the end of the day is a beautiful experience. Staff are extremely nice and want to help you with anything you need. Highly, highly recommend Firefly! -Corey

We absolutely loved Firefly’s location right in the middle of Seven Mile Beach and close to other amenities. The staff was always welcoming and friendly. And the beachfront restaurant amidst the trees was delightful.

I’ve been going to Firefly since the late 1980’s. Honeymooned there in the late 90s. It is perfectly located on the 7 mile beach of Negril. The rooms are quiet and comfortable and you’re never more than a moment away from the beach. The new expanded restaurant and bar is wonderful. If you want a chill vacation, alone, in a couple, with kids, it’s all you need.The staff are all first rate and truly friendly.

Overall a great place to stay. As we had room 17 at the very top, our view was spectacular. Staff were very friendly and helpful in a timely manner. Kitchen setup was good for making breakfast or a light meal. The only down side with our stay was the seating for the room . The bar stools in the room, and on the balcony are only comfortable for a short sitting time, and the only other option was to lay down on the bed. The balcony could benifit from a couple lounge type chairs. As one of the main things we enjoy on our vacations is to relax and take in the experience, more comfortable seating would have made this place perfect.

The location is amazing. Everything is walkable distance and you are right on the beach. The place is quiet and clean. Staff is very friendly and took care of anything I needed. The onsite restaurant is good but there are several other options on the beach as well. I felt very safe during my stay. There is a shopping mall walkable distance with amenities and ATM. I can't wait to return to Negril beach and this place, that sums up how happy I was.

In the room lockers did not work , but they provided me a locker in the office which served my need. The WIFI was horribly slow and would frequently break. This is outside the hotel control. It was not a problem for most of the days as I was just enjoying the beach and it was actually good getting disconnected. But last two days I had to book flights and other hotels and it was a nightmare to complete any online transaction. Certainly not a place to WORK remotely. I did complain to the office and they were looking into changing service provider.

Gorgeous garden property located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Convenient to great restaurants and bars groceries and shopping. Free beach chats and towels were a great perk!

The staff were fantastic

We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment closer to the road which we enjoyed staying in. If you are a light sleeper than the noise may bother you but I sleep way better with noise. The beds were very comfortable and the space was perfect for the 3 of us. The ladies at the reception are amazing and very welcoming. The housekeepers are amazing and we loved the new bedding they put on the beds after a few days of our stay. The service at the bar/restaurant can be a bit slow at times however the food was really good. They have happy hour every day from 12 to 2 and it gets pretty busy and hopping :) They set up televisions in the bar for Super Bowl which was a bonus. Dennis and Marco are gems. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and flowers.

I know there are plenty of loungers but it would be nice to have some already laid out for the day. A couple of the servers seemed annoyed and would serve the regulars even if you were there before them. I understand that they have a relationship with the returning guests; however, we all paid to enjoy the same service.

The staff are great , house keeping very happy friendly and doing a great job, as were the staff in general Curtis always had time for a chat and nothing was too much trouble, Sofia is a great restaurant host and the waiting staff Tina and Barman Marco always happy and good at their jobs. We would recommend Firefly and would be happy to stay here again, Many thanks for a great holiday, Love Ian and Zhanna.

Its only a suggestion but my wife likes to read before bed an its not just here but in general nowhere we stayed in Jamacia had any bedside lights!

Room a little small but nice

Rooms are well appointed and clean— everything you need for a relaxing stay. The staff are PERFECTION. I have never encountered a friendlier or kinder bunch of people in all of my 5+ visits to Jamaica. The bar and restaurant are fantastic md everything is reasonably priced. Location cannot be beat!

Internet is slow but a solution is in the works. You don’t need internet anyways— you’re in Jamaica, go outside.

The staff was great! Everyone was friendly and efficeint. It was great to be right on the beach and within walking distance of so much. If we go back to Jamaica we'll be staying there again.

Location was good and it being on the beach was a plus. Lots of places to go and close to a plaza woth a supermarket.

Water problems. Twice wanter was unavailable. The first attributed to a broken pipe. The second time was on the morning of checkout when we woke to shower and get ready to leave. To our surprise and great concern, there was no water available. Good thing we had some bottled water and did our best with those. Would not stay here again because water shut off seems random. The second issue was asking for a few items of clothing to be washed and being charged 30USD. Disappointingly, the shirts were not ironed, tee shirts not folded. Essentially clithes wete returned wrinkled.

I love the firefly!! The che k in was lovely and kind. We stayed in the cottage!! Cute and right on the beach!! The staff is amazing and the bar..the food was phenomenal and Nrs Sophie is my favorite. She spoiled us rotten.My new go to place to stay!!
