The Wakka hotel is in the perfect location and a beautiful place to rest your weary body after a day of riding. We had a lovely room with a spacious deck and enjoyed the view while cooking our bbq dinner. Loved they provided quality e-bikes and luggage transfers which all went smoothly. Staff were super friendly too.

It is expensive but worth the treat and convenience.

Great staff, very helpful, sorted out our luggage onward transfer to our next hotel.

Our room was very dark with little natural light.

The cycling theme of the hotel is fantastic. The room is very stylish.

I loved what they've done with the place: an old harbour wharf turned into something stylish and genuinely trendy, without losing its character. Very convenient too, with a bike rental shop right next door and a restaurant/bar on site for breakfast, drinks and food (amazing pizza). The staff and service were excellent as well, everyone was friendly and helpful throughout.

Such a cool converted warehouse. Pictures are N Booking don’t do it justice. And if you are doing the cycle ride this is the ONLY place you should consider. The bakery, cafe, restraint, shop are all so cool as well.

I det totalrenoverte lagerbygningen hotellet ligger i kan man både leie svært gode sykler til turen fra Giant Store, spise en utmerket frokost før man setter av gårde, feire vel gjennomført tur i baren etterpå, og spise en bra middag restaurante. Fergen man tar til startstedet for turen legger atpåtil til kai bare et par hundre meter unna. Det går sikkert an å finne enda bedre hotellrom andre steder for samme pris, men dette hotellet er perfekt hvis man vil bo et sted der man ikke har andre bekymringer enn selve sykkelturen.

Ikke noe vindu i selve hotellrommet, og vinduet på badet befinner seg under tak og slipper inn lite lys utenfra. Dette fikk hotellrommet til å føles litt mørkt og trist. Det var også unormalt mye støy fra air condition.

It’s quite new so it’s modern and stylish. Great location close to the port and very convenient if you want to cycle Shimanami Kaido. There is a cafe and restaurant in the building which are both superb.

It is quite hot in the entire building and you have to have the AC running all the time. They could use some more hooks in the rooms and bathroom.

Really comfortable, sleek hotel for cyclists. The man at the front desk really went the extra mile for us shipping our luggage on to the next hotel and even recovering lost items from our room. Overall the whole stay was relaxing with a luxury breakfast buffet, everything you could need to fuel and prepare for a long bike ride, and of course the hotel is right next to the station, bike rentals, and the ferry for anyone starting the Shimaname Kaido.

beautiful design, delicious breakfast and helpful staff. good location nearby the train station and starting point for the Shimanami Kaido. very spacious, the bathroom was similar size to my entire hotel room in Tokyo.

As other reviewers have mentioned, there isn't great soundproofing. I got woken up by the inhabitants of the upstairs room thumping around late at night.

Dichtbij het pondje en het station, na een dag fietsen. Heel leuk opgezet met allerlei fietsen. De kamer was van alle gemakken voorzien.

Vor dem Fenster ( zum Glück gut isoliert) tuckerte die ganze Nacht ein im Hafen angelegtes, altes Schiff.

we were not informed when booking that the restaurant would be closed to for one night due to a race group

breakfast was western style and very tasty!

the location is very central but at the same time the harbour has a alot of noise and gas coming from the ships. our room would have needed renovation.

We were blown away at how stylish and cool the hotel was. From the boutique to the bike shop to the restaurant and bar, and especially our bartender Kam, we could not have enjoyed our stay any more than we did. It was wonderful.

Hotel is well positioned for the Shimanami Kaido start. The bike theme is cool and check in was easy.

Room not so great - we had no window which was a shame as the property is on the coast and sort of defeats the point. As one of the only hotels around, it is expensive for what it is but not much choice around.

Staff was very helpful. We rented bikes on short notice from the hotel and they worked very well. Great location. Coin operated washing machines.

This was the most expensive accommodation we had in Japan. Very unique being an old Warehouse. However the lighting in the room was very poor. We had to use a torch to see inside our suitcase. Apart from that it was fine.

大変清潔感があり無駄のないスタイリッシュな空間でした。ゆっくりお部屋で寛ぐタイプのホテルというよりかは、観光重視で夜に休むためのホテルです。レセプションの対応もスムーズで大変親切です。

シャワールームにもう一つ使用済みタオル掛けや、着替えを置く棚があれば良いです。 深夜、廊下からの話声が少し気になりました。

お部屋も綺麗でなによりスタッフの肩がとても丁寧で親切でした> ̫ < レストランやカフェも併設されているので食事も楽に美味しく摂ることが出来ました☺︎☺︎

お部屋のライトが少し暗めなので明るい部屋が好きな方は少し不便に感じるかも知れないです💦

The location is great; you’re next to the ferry to the island bike route and there’s a nice restaurant in the same building. Definitely a worry free place to stay.

There were quite a few lighting points but somehow some spots could not be illuminated properly like the wardrobe.

Modern boutique accommodation which is perfect if you’re cycling the Sazanami or Shinamani Kaido. The most expensive accomodation we paid for by-far on our entire trip, but it is a great location close to bike hire and has a great restaurant and bar onsite. Staff were super helpful sending in something we’d mistakenly left in our room, which was greatly appreciated. This is our second stay here and would definitely stay again!

There is no onsen!!!

Very cool space, really well created hotel. Such a great surprise when we arrived as so different from everywhere we’d been staying in our 6 weeks in Japan

More lights please! I know the dark vibe is part of the design concept …. But the rooms could do with being a bit brighter!

We booked this hotel for a one night stay and we were pleasantly surprised by everything it offered. + The check in was fast and the staff was polite and helpful. They spoke decent English so we had no issues communicating with them. + The hotel is located in a gorgeous area. You essentially get direct access to the sea and it looks amazing. There's tables and seats outside on the deck so you can go and relax there with a drink or some snacks during the day / night. It's also easy to access since it's about 7 minutes away from the train station on foot. You have plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We haven't used public transportation once during our stay and visited all tourist attractions simply by walking. - The entire design of the establishment is really cool, with industrial vibes and feels new. - The room was perfect for us. Everything was very clean and modern and the beds were big and comfortable. - The breakfeast was really really good, so I highly recommend getting it if you can!

These were not negatives for us, but I'll mention them for awareness: - If it wasn't clear from the pictures already, keep in mind that the rooms are pretty dark. You'll need to keep your lights on, no matter the time of day because the only windows are in the bathroom. - We came here only with our backpacks and had our luggage forwarded to our next hotel beforehand. If you come here with suitcases, it's probably going to be a very tight fit as the rooms are not that big. They're comfortable enough for you to not feel cramped, however, I imagine that trying to open one big suitcase here would be a challenge.

Location was outstanding -close to bike hire and eating venues. It is set on the water so sitting on the deck was amazing after a busy day. So accessible to shopping and sightseeing. Right near the ferry to start the bike trail

Loved the location and aspect of the hotel - nice shops with local goods to purchase and a nice feel to the place. Easy walk from the local station and to the shopping arcade and temple walk.

Our room looked quite shabby and was very dark inside. It really needed a bit of a refurb. The outlook of the bathroom onto the walkway meant you could not open the window to let in any fresh air without people looking in. The Breakfast food was nice and great service by the staff overall. But for a cycle hotel the coffee was very ordinary - disappointing as for us cycling and coffee are a team. I had to laugh when my partner went to utilise the larger coffee machine around the corner from the breakfast buffet, which we discovered had better coffee and was told he had to use the small one on the breakfast buffet instead.

Loved the trendy, rustic, industrial look and feel of the place. The cycle theme was great.

This was the perfect place to stay before the start of the bike tour. It was walking distance from Shimanami Japan Bike Rental and the Onomichi train station. Great breakfast too.

The hotel is amazing! We stayed for one night before renting bicycles and starting our cycling trip, and it was the perfect choice. The hotel has a unique, modern design with a strong cycling-themed atmosphere. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, plus the coffee was absolutely delicious. The location is ideal - close to the station, the ferry, bike rental shops, and the city center. On the ground floor, there’s a bar, restaurant, café, and a great terrace, which we really enjoyed. Breakfast was also excellent - a combination of à la carte options and a buffet, everything was very tasty. A special thanks to the staff as well, they were very kind and helpful, and even assisted us with sending our luggage to the next destination. Highly recommended!

Great position, great restaurant available for breakfast and dinner. Able to have bikes outside our room. The bar stocked Haymans Gin, the oldest known gin in the world!

The lighting in the room was so dim!! No good for old people to be able to see!!

I was there to ride the Shimanano Kaido.. Loved the hotel itself. My room was amazing! So big. Huge stone tub. Loved all the cyclist perks. Also liked the adjoining market, cafe, and restaurant.

I kept tripping on the raised platform that the bed was on. Be careful if you stay. I put stuff across it so I wouldn't keep making that mistake. I loved my Giant bike, but I didn't love the communications with the store- which I realize is a separate business, but is connected to you as a perk of staying there. I asked repeatedly via email if I could get the bike the evening before the ride day but got no answer. The store, which is in the complex with your hotel was not open when I arrived- as I guess they are closed on Tuesdays. I was first in line for getting a bike but getting on the road so late meant I didn't get to stop and enjoy as much. Maybe you can tell them that feedback and also send a brief note in email to your guests who have reserved bikes to anticipate this more. Minor issues all in all. Wonderful stay!

The hotel is very unique in terms of design and location. It is not far from the train station and the town center, but overlooking the sea. Wonderful and modern rooms, there are a lot of facilities in the same complex (bar, shops, bakery).

Prachtige locatie vlak bij het startpunt van de erg mooie fietsroute. Je kan ook fietsen huren bij deze locatie. Ze waren tip-top in orde. Kamer was erg mooi en het personeel heel vriendelijk.

We loved relaxing in the seating area on the boardwalk outside the restaurants.

This hotel is located along the shore walk in Onomichi well located to bike rentals and other bike support Infrastucture. It is geared to support cyclist which most of the guests are. The restaurant is great for dinner (make reservations) and good for breakfast. The accommodations are better than cyclist would normally get on rides but functional perhaps for regular travellers. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate. The rooms are a little tight. All and all, a 10 for cyclists and an 8 for non cyclist travellers.

Perfect end to the Shiminami bike ride! Great design and adjacent amenities. Comfortable beds and cool design. Delicious dinner and breakfast.

Spacious room. Well set up for cyclists with bike facilities onsite. Good to have coin operated machines in the hotel. Great bakery in the building and we enjoyed the restaurant on several occasions. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Geblindeerde ramen. We zaten aan de zeekant en hadden toch geen uitzicht. Even iets drinken aan de bar kon niet, we moesten wachten tot de klanten die wilden eten eerst aan de beurt waren voor een tafel. Is niet per se hotel zelf, misschien andere uitbater. Na het fietsen konden we geen handdoek lenen of huren. Ze verkochten alleen een heel kleintje, formaat gezicht wassen. Had ik voor deze prijs en promo als fietser vriendelijke plek wel verwacht.

Tolle Lage, sehr schöne und moderne Einrichtung

Juste wow ! L’emplacement est parfait à pied de la gare et du départ de vélo . Nous avons couché le premier soir et sommes revenues après notre randonnée à vélo. Nous avons laissé nos valises à l'hôtel et sommes revenus coucher à notre retour du vélo. Les chambres sont spacieuses et très propres , un restaurant annexe à l'hôtel est très bon et surtout pratique.

Shione at the reception was delightful and extremely helpful. She made our stay better! Downstairs the design and shops, bar and restaurant were fabulous. We enjoyed wine overlooking the water and a delicious fish meal.

The room didn’t have a window and was hot and way too dark. Whilst I appreciate this might be their ‘design concept’ I think it would be much more pleasant and make for an easier stay if this decor wasn’t so awfully dark!

As an avid cyclist, I loved the atmosphere in the hotel. The customer service was especially great, even ensuring that my daughter’s allergy were shared with the restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were also fantastic. Love this place and the customer service provided by the young lady at the front desk.
