Great location and verandah has a great view

Great location, close to the centre of Russell but slightly elevated so it has a wonderful view. The room was spacious and well equipped with a veranda that we spent a lot of time sitting on.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Russell. Beautiful views, handy to everything, big rooms and great ensuites. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely go back!

The location, serenity, the host, and the room were great.

It was stylishly presented with beautiful furnishings & exceptionally clean & comfortable. The host Sue (not forgetting the very gorgeous Lulu dog) was warm & welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. She had filled the fridge with gorgeous goodies for our breakfast & many items were home made (lush marmalade). The views from the villa were stunning.

A stay to remember - a tropical storm a power cut and then a delay to getting to the Opua ferry due a blocked road - apart from that we enjoyed ourselves very much. Sue is a lovely host and went out of her way to help.

The weather!!

The property is on a slight hill and has a lovely view with a great verandar and outdoor furniture. The host Sue is lovely and when I asked for some ice for our drinks, it was not a problem. You get fresh fruit each day with anything else that neeeds to be replaced for your continental breakfast. Town a a few minutes' walk and everything is close by. There are also some lovely walks near the property. Russell is small, so eveything is clsose. There is a big supermarket and plenty of restaurants and cafes. We did the tall ship sailing boat trip which was great. The room was spacious and comfortable, I would definitely recommend it. I think you are better off staying at villa Russell with the lovely outlook and spacious verandar than along the waterfront.

Lovely location .Very comfortable bed and pillow. Local new Zealand fruits to try well appreciated.Always enough tea and coffee in the room.

The continental breakfast from the room fridge could have been more exciting, rather basic.Missed variety. Fruits were very nice. No eggs or cheese.

Old style balcony with beautiful vista. We could sit out for meals and fully relax. We liked that there were windows behind and french doors to the balcony so we had air flowing through at night. The kitchenette had everything we needed.

Fabulous location…incredible views of the harbour from your balcony. Hostess was incredibly personal and kind. Very large room with plenty of space to move and relax.

Really cool way to offer the continental breakfast. Friendly atmosphere to learn about the area. I wish I brought a flashlight cause kiwis aren't the area. 5 minutes from town. If you forget something it's soooo, easy run back and retrieve it. And let's not forget. The fur babies come to visit

Welcomed by Sue, and shown around the lovely accommodation and made sure we were comfortable Sue is a great host, there is lovely views from the verandah and table and chairs to sit on.

Breakfast was supplied, bit disappointed, thought we may have had a cooked breakfast, the breakfast was in the fridge on arrival. For the price we paid I would have expected more and fresh each day.

Spacious clean and comfortable . Well located with beautiful views over Russell. A short walk into the centre with shops and restaurants as well as the ferry service across the bay.

Location was perfect, walking distance to township. We didn't use our car once for the whole 2 days. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was just what we needed.

Beautiful view but absolutely no sun to this property at this time of the year. The shower was brilliant, but wet everything - the toilet the hand basin. Maybe another extractor fan would have helped.

The location is very good , walking distance from the sea waterfront where all the restaurants and bars are located . The breakfast was correct , we found everything in the room and the refrigerator . We had breakfast in the terrace just out of our room, it was great ! Mrs Sue , the owner of Villa Russel is a very nice lady and help us a lot giving very interesting suggestions .

Could have done with air conditioning as the rooms face west so are quite hot/get a lot of afternoon sun..fan was good for one of us in bed but didn’t cool down other side of bed

Breakfasts supplied were very good. Washing machine.

Very very small fridge inside the unit although could use a bigger one down in the garage. Only had a microwave with no other cooking facilities eg hot plates so could only cook on the BBQ outside, which isn't covered, even when it was raining. No dryer. Not a complaint but endemic to Russell in all accommodation I have stayed in (not just this one) is the "conversation" about water usage as they all rely on rainwater, no one will use any more or less then they normally do when on holiday.

Beautiful location, lovely host. Only five minutes to town.

Location was central to Russell and surroundings. We didn't use the car for transport after we arrived in Russell. We could walk or take walk on ferries wherever we wanted to go. The homemade yogurt was a nice treat for breakfast.

It was in a beautiful quiet idyllic setting with amazing views from balcony of Russell Bay, short walk to the lovely town and bay. Very comfortable with all amenities and fresh fruit and breakfast provided. Sue is a wonderful host who is very involved in the community and has vast information about the area. We loved it.

Nothing. It’s was perfect

The owner , Sue was exceptionally hospitable and had thought of everything a traveller might need and value. There are just 2 suites and you can be very private. The room is enormous with a very large bed and sofa sitting area. There is outside seating as well. The breakfast provided was delicious and thoughtful. The main area of Russell for eating out and shops is a short 5 minute walk . The drive up to the villa from the main road is very steep and could cause a problem for limited mobility but one could always drive down and leave the car at the bottom, walk into town and then drive back up if needed. The height is so worth it for the magnificent views of the bay of islands. Thoroughly recommend this lovely place.

Beautiful location. Host Sue is so kind and helpful- nothing is too much bother. The view from the room and veranda are breathtaking. Russell has so much charm and there is lots to do. Room is very well appointed with spacious wet room. Breakfast items provided in room so can suit yourself when to eat.

Amazing warm welcome by the owner - gave us all the informations we needed to know about both the accommodation and eateries/restaurants/sights. Very spacious accommodation with everything one needed for a comfortable stay - appliances, china, crockery, etc. Villa Russell was located amongst native bush (with the beautiful birdsong) only five minutes walk into the town centre - a superb location with wonderful views over the township and across the harbour. Breakfast was included - to enjoy on the veranda.

In perfect location of picturesque Russell - walking distance to ferry, restaurants and historic sights around village. Our room was huge & well equipped with every comfort and more for our stay. The deck was perfect for breakfast and surrounded by a beautiful garden full of birdsong. Sue was the perfect hostess giving us tips for our stay as well as providing a fantastic breakfast. Did I mention the breakfast?!

Great location, lovely host. We had a problem with water - it appears there was a fix needed with the tank so seems like a one-off. We had breakfast included with our meal but it was too basic and could be better.

Fantastic view and a perfect location for the town, restaurants and ferry. The room was large, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The weather during our stay was awful, but this was a great place to sit out on the covered veranda and watch the weather. Sue kindly let us use the drier when our clothes got soaked. Breakfast was lovely, and a chance to get to know Sue and Lulu the dog - this was a really great stay.

Excellent breakfast, unfortunately because of the weather we were unable to eat on the verandah until our last day. Our host was lovely & most helpful.

There was nothing wrong with the accommodation , just unlucky that there was a cyclone while we were staying there, however we still enjoyed Russell & hope to return one day.

very beautiful location. view is fantastic. Sue is a very friendly host. her breakfast with fresh fruits is amazing. you hear a lot of birds. the village is very cute with nice eateries and the surroundings are stunning.

shower next to the toilet. when you shower floor and toilet gets wet. we had a lot of rain and the humidity was very high: also in the room so our clothes were damped

Parking was a bit tricky, but was OK

We loved the location and the view. We felt connected to the centre yet distant enough to feel relaxed. Sue was a very welcoming and hospitable host with local tips and very helpful with parking and storage to meet our needs. The breakfast was lovely on the deck the first morning and inside on the second due to the weather.

The room was exceptional it was large and homely including a super king bed with a great bathroom and shower.

Our favourite stay in New Zealandl. Great accomodation, beautiful views and a wonderful host. Highly recommended.

We like the views from our room. I like the accommodation having shower robe and they have it. Excellent! Customer service was excellent. We like healthy breakfast and the dining overlooking the sea. Convenience of walking to town was great. Parking not so easy as it was elevated but not an issue.

Sue is a wonderful host. The place is very clean, and the location is fabulous. Walking distance to the Main Street. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Highly recommend this stay. The views were pretty and close proximity to town and waterfront (5mins easy walk) and 10min walk to Flagpole hill. The service was friendly and efficiently - nothing was too much trouble. True Kiwi hospitality. We will stay again.
