Nice ambience

I felt the restaurant night meal was overpriced for the serving offered and the breakfast did not begin until 10 am so we needed to drive elsewhere instead of a nice cosy breakfast on site

There was no hot water when I went to shower in the morning. I could not find anyone to tell. at check out. I tried telling them via their chat but got no reply. The email address that they had on their communications did not work - bounced back twice as undelivered. I get that these things (the hot water) happen but the poor communication channels were unacceptable.

There was no hot water to the bathroom toilet area. Only cold water.

Bed was comfortable.

Heating wasn’t effective for a cold winter night. Room was cold and hot water took around 5 mins to reach shower.

It was quaint . Bed was comfortable. Good food and Guiness.

The room was huge, the bed was very comfortable, it had everything you would ever need in the room, and the bathroom was stunning. We had a room with the clawfoot bath, and it was fabulous.

The location was perfect for our group, the rooms were comfy and the meals were outstanding.

You cant get breakfast until 10am which is check out time, so we had to wait in the car for abit while it was raining and we were very hungry! But the chicken waffles were amazing!

Comfortable and quiet rooms, close to the airport and an excellent pub/restaurant for dinners.

A ‘pub’ dinner in a cosy dining room was great, served by really helpful and responsive staff. Best seafood chowder in a long time, reasonably priced also. Very comfortable bed.

Close to airport and great value for money , we were only there for an overnight stop so it was perfect as it is a little out of town if you want to explore further . It describes itself as an English pub , there is a nice courtyard set up as a beer garden and they play music but this is turned off by 9 so not a problem if you need an early night . The food there looked good but we didn’t eat there . It’s a little dated but very clean and comfortable

We had to leave early so it would have been good to be able to access something for breakfast eg croissants or fruit but other than that all fine

A little far from town. Found it a little noisy with the events going on. The room was a little warm but no screen on the window.

Great place to end our South Island vacation. Close to Nelson Airport. Wonderful staff (especially Ian). The pub was a nice local place to have a drink and a meal.

Location is lovely. Enjoyed the friendly and efficient staff. I was grateful that the outdoor music stopped at 9pm

My main negative rating for my stay was the lack of availability of breakfast on the Sunday morning of my stay. I had to wait until the restaurant opened at 10am to order a cheese scone (which was delicious by the way). If breakfast was available it certainly wasn’t mentioned in the information book in my room.

Friendly staff, very convenient to airport (5-7 minute taxi). Restaurant/bar onsite.

No elevator but staff offered to carry our bags, which was nice. Older property, a little tired.

Bar was good staff very friendly and helpful but it was expensive for what it was, advertising didn’t match up. The hallways were not vacuumed and the whole place looked a little tired and in need of a revamp.

It was much smaller than the photos showed, very close to airport with flights at 4-5am. The Resturant and bar played precedence over the accommodation.

Good location and view. Clean and spacious enough bathroom. There’s also a microwave outside the rooms which was nice for heating up a quick meal

No mesh on windows so little flies would come in when windows are open. It was stuffy inside the room when windows are closed. Mattresses were too soft and difficult to sleep on

It is a good place to stay for a night or two. Comfortable beds and standard room for a pub with accommodation. Did not eat there but the food is good pub grub.

Location and it is a beautiful old hotel. Staff friendly and go all out to make sure your stay is good.

Our room was above the pub and outdoor area, and this was noisy, but fortunately by 9.30/10pm it stopped.

Room clean and tidy, comfy bed, quiet area, small place down hallway with microwave, plates etc, very useful if wanting to prepare own food, good restaurant onsite, a very quaint older style accommodation with lots of character

Stairs which my husband finds difficult. The units on ground floor were fully booked

Rooms get really really warm during the day, there’s a noisy fan but no aircon. We were there in spring and found the room to hot too sleep, so can’t imagine how warm it must get in summers. In our room we could hear the music from the pub until 10 pm, after that super quiet. So for adults okay, but with kids could be an issue.

We did not have breakfast because it started at 10am and that was too late for us.

Character and location - 15-20 minute to the airport - easy to find and pleasant reception👍

The shower didn't work properly and the spa bath didn't function. We found out too late in the evening -1130-so said nothing as l am sure they would have resolved the issue for us

Beautiful building and surroundings and the fact to be able to dinner at the same place we stayed. Nice walk around. Close to the airport. The waitress was friendly and we felt welcome.

We struggled to find a parking spot as hotel guests, and we had all our luggage with us. It would be very helpful to have some clearly allocated spaces for hotel guests, restaurant customers, and campervans, which often need two spaces. We also had to wait almost 1 hour for our food after ordering because our order had been forgotten. The food was expensive regarding the quality. We asked for crunchy fries and they arrived not well cooked and white... after 1 hour of waiting.

Stayed as a stopover being close to the airport. Room was cosy and bed comfortable. Great selection of meals and the loaded chips with garlic butter and mushroom sauce was so delicious. Had great water views as well.

Fab place, loved the jazz on Sunday. Very nice meal one evening . Loved our room.

Coffee machine or pods in the room. There’s no cafes around open til 10.am in the area so you have to drive a distance for a decent coffee. Instant just doesn’t cut it. Yuk

Didn’t stay

This hotel was a dive, seriously needs $$ spent on it. The room was grotty, the mattress sat like a wave on the bed bases. Really old furniture, terribly disappointed, so sort alternative accommodation for night !

Reception was hard to find at night, or I'm just a blind idiot whondidnt see the signs... We were welcomed by the manager who was very friendly and helped us with the checkin and getting wine and dessert sent to the room, even thought the kitchen had already closed. The room was large and clean. My wife said she felt like she was staying in an old castle room, in a good way. Im pretty sure we booked the larger room on the property. The bathroom was huge, and clean. The mattress was a little soft/lumpy but we were hiking so still slept ok. There are planes flying over at night since you are right by the airport but it stops from around 10pm-6am. Overall a comfortable stay. Of the mattress was new, i would have given 5 stars for comfort. The pub was excellent, high quality and delicious food. Hailey, our server was friendly and attentive. Thank you! 9/10 would stay again! 10/10 with a new mattress!
