Inn the Bay Bed & Breakfast

The B&B was situated across the road from the beach. Room was a decent size and comfortable. We never saw the host and we self checked in and out. Breakfast was continental and reasonable for $20 each.

Would have been nice to meet the host as we don't bite......well not during the day!

Only stayed one night. It was so comfortable and clean and homely. I absolutely recommend this B&B. If we come back to Kaikoura we will stay here.

The Inn was well located just out of the main town but toward the seal colony. The room was large and clean. The retrieval of the room key was very clever!

Given reviews we were expecting to meet the owners to get advice on the area but we probably arrived too late and saw no one in the morning

The room and shared space were excellent, really comfortable, clean and perfect for our requirements. As I have an Allergy to pineapple, they were more than happy to make a breakfast bowl just for me. It was delicious and all so fresh

In The Bay (great name!) is in a very good location clear of the hubbub of Kaikoura town center and yet on the sea front with fabulous views. It was just as advertised with good, well maintained facilities and spacious rooms with well appointed bathrooms. Breakfast was fresh and very convenient.

Kylie was very welcoming. Our, room was spacious & we also had the full use of the guest dining/sitting room. Continental breakfast was enough for us & we enjoyed the homemade bread.

The bed really needs replacing-it wasn’t very comfortable.

We stayed in the Endeavour room and loved how spacious it was, as well as the view of the ocean from our room! The bathroom (shower especially) was amazing! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast provided was so great! There was also a lovely little sitting area outside for us to listen to the sounds of the ocean while enjoying our coffee/tea/breakfast. We thought the bed was going to be too soft for us, but we still had a pretty decent sleep. We did notice some dust and cobwebs in the higher corners of the room, but this wasn’t a huge deal to us, as overall everything else was otherwise clean. Enjoyable stay!

Room was very large but on ground floor and people walking by could look in. Sitting area was on the drive in which was not ideal but if you had an upstairs room this problem would be negated. Breakfast was in-room and everything was there that would be required. Bathroom was gorgeous.

A lovely room that's stylish and very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is glorious with a wonderful shower. Breakfast was plentiful and had lovely special touches such as really nice honey. The beach is across the street and the walk around the headland to the seal sanctuary passes the front door. Very accommodating host who was very helpful.

The family who own/operate the property are super cool and friendly. They gave great suggestions, and we had an awesome time. The location was perfect, right on the beachfront, a short drive from a seal reserve. And it's great for kids, as it is across the street from a nice playground.

Great location opposite the beach. Our room was very clean and comfortable for our 2-night stay. The bathroom appeared to be renovated recently. Our hosts, Luke and Kylie, were very welcoming and helpful. The included continental breakfast was fresh and perfectly suitable for us as we are not big breakfast eaters. Our room, which was located facing the road, was very quiet. I'm not sure if the room at the back of the property would be a better option during busy times.

This was a gem. Beautifully presented room with the most impressive shower recess of our 3 week road trip. 10 minute walk to The Pier restaurant and 15 minute stroll into town where we spent an evening in the iconic Strawberry Tree Irish pub where the food and Guinness were excellent. And then of course there were the seals and their pups nearby. Luke and Kylie are doing an amazing job balancing family duties, careers and Inn the Bay. Having experienced the 2016 earthquake and dealt with the pandemic, they deserve every credit for maintaining their business at such a high standard. All visitors to NZ should put Kaikōura on their list.

The position is ideal to get the best from Kaikōura. 15 mins walk to the town centre but quiet and relaxed . Luke and Kylie are the perfect hosts. The room was spacious with a good view of the bay. Good off-road parking and generous breakfast.

I was expecting a bit more for breakfast than fruit and yogurt, but it met our needs.

Great location and host who took the time to share recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. Pleasantly surprised to find this was a small intimate family run Inn with our own lounge kitchen area to enjoy quiet space to relax and eat our breakfast in the morning. Would highly recommend staying here.

The property was in a great location across from the waterfront. We stayed in the room with the Queen and Single beds and the facilities were amazing. The property has a shared living room but the other guests that were checked in were friendly and approachable. Thank you to Kylie who made my sister and mine's stay at Kaikoura magnificent!

Breakfast was nice and easy being in the room to make ourselves, and the location being right on the beach and near town was fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Good location close to the beach. A fully self contained lounge, spacious bedroom & bathroom. Host was helpful in explaining the nearby facilities and preferable meal locations , which was also provided in a helpful and instructive compendium. The bathroom was spacious and with heated floor. Easily accessible to the local sights. Breakfast was pre-prepared at our available own timing.

We found the front unit roomy and very comfortable. Double curbless shower is fantastic. All amenities we could need are included. Quiet, convenient, on site parking. Four-star accommodation.

Continental breakfast is quite disappointing. I have booked it for my family to enjoy a good continental breakfast. However it did not turn out to be any good experience. I had strong feeling of being overcharged for the included breakfast.

The owners are exceptionally nice and very accommodating. they make sure you feel at home and provide a home like stay for the person. I felt so safe and would like to go back again! The pantry had all the breakfast one can need and is stocked with everything.

This is not a negative point as we knew this going in, but grab rails and a place to sit in the shower could really make this place accessible to many more.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful B&B. The room was very spacious, and tastefully decorated. A nice breakfast was provided in the morning. Would stay again if ever back in the area.Fabulous

Our host gave us several tips both for while we were staying in Kaikoura and also when we left in the direction of Blenheim. We enjoyed chatting with him and highly recommend the accomodation

We arrived in late so didn't get to enjoy the beach across the road. Well appointed room, comfy bed, lovely big bathroom with walk in shower. A lovely continental breakfast to kick start our early morning departure. I would definitely stay again.

Luke and Kylie were fabulous hosts, Luke greeted us and gave us great tip on a hiking trail that we did the day after our arrival. We saw hundreds of fur seals, got a great workout and a wonderful lunch at the Pier Hotel. The place has a great view, walking distance to town and rail line. Kylie even drove us to the station on day of departure. Would highly recommend this property.
