Blue Wave Motel Mount Maunganui

Room had no air conditioning. It was hot and humid, so was very uncomfortable. Only had 2 fans that were not oscillating.

Just a short walk to the beach which is great. Villas were well appointed with all you need for a stay.

Plenty of parking. Conveniently close to the beach.

Loved our stay. 2 mins walk to the beach, use of boogie boards, surfboards and free washing facilities was great. Nice friendly staff and happy to accommodate your needs. Easy driving distance to shops at the Mount. Would definitely stay again.

Every pleasant place to stay easy to find and not to far away from the nightlife. Staff very helpful and nothing is to much trouble. Would stay again if in the area but hopefully longer next time. Two nights was not long enough. A++++++

Unit was spacious, with a couple or spare single beds in living area. Well equipped for self catering and small outside deck and grass area to sit. Found location good.

Great location, staff are lovely. The only problem we had was the heat in the room. The room did have two fans however all that did was move the hot air around. Would suggest proper air conditioning. But other wise the room was fantastic. Lots of room for 5 of us.

Thank you for the great stay. Room quite roomy and great with the full fridge with freezer and full size oven. Single beds were very comfy, but found the Queen bed so soft and uncomfortable. But overall really enjoyed our stay and it was only a 3min walk to the beach via the beach access walkway. Reasonably quite too and a small back patio on Villa #7, with a outside rinse off shower for after the beach. Will definitely come back here again.

Comfortable and spacious unit in quiet location close to the beach

The manager was pleasant and helpful enough. Appreciated information about where to find places. However, no cleaning was done and no linen changed during our two day stay at the motel. Also, the bed making was poor and cleanliness in the bathroom especially was below average.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The unit was spotless and comfortable. There were no additional amenities, but a terrific basic and clean accommodation.

We found the room catered for our needs and was well presented however when we arrived the unit was open and extremely hot, without air conditioning we weren’t able to cool the rooms down so it was a very uncomfortable evening for us.

It was very comfortable and clean. But it was a very hot day and the fans weren't enough to cool us down in the room.

A very pleasant and well maintained motel. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Our unit was smart and well equipped. Just one quibble. The summer weather was hot. Two large fans were provided in the unit. The fan itself was enclosed within a safety cage. Unfortunately, when fired up they sound like an aircraft taking off. It was impossible to have the fan on in the bedroom and sleep at the same time because of the noise. Other than that, a great stay. It is a five minute drive into town, a couple of minutes to a large shopping mall, and there is an Indian Restaurant just around the corner.

This is the second time staying here. I find it very spacious, clean and comfortable.

There was copious amounts of space for us there. We were only there for a night for a wedding and were quite upset we couldn’t stay longer.

Five minute walk to low-traffic area of beach; 30 minute walk to restaurants, more populated beach area. Friendly, knowledgable management. Great place. Would have stayed in that area longer if we would have known better.

We had an excellent stay here. The check in was friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and nicely renovated. Kitchen facilities were adequate to prepare basic meals. The property was nice and quiet at night.

Was a bit surprised to be fair. Was not expecting it to be this good for the money we paid. The room we were in was renovated nicely and the beds were comfortable. Would certainly recommend this motel and would stay again. Great value for money!

Was a good choice as the villa was spacious and the beds were comfy. Extras were 4 pillows on the doubles. A small thing was the heater in the bedroom wasn't working. It didn't detract though but I thought the manager would want to fix it if he knew. Lovely sunny outdoor deck off the bedroom. Would stay again. Well done!

Lovely welcome upon arrival. Room was beutifully presented, very functional & cosy. Alot of renovtions had been done so the decks off the bedrooms was lovely. Id definitely go back

Amazingly immaculate unit with great amentities

Our room had just been renovated and was very nice, modern and great colours. We were very comfortable and loved the fact it all felt new and revived.

Great location in a mostly residential and quiet area but 2 mins from Papamoa Beach. A bit far from the commercial area but still walking distance (4km). Nice accommodation with full kitchen, 1 queen bed and 2 twins. Ideal for family wishing to spend time near the beach in a home away from home.

Nice quiet location away from main roads. Pillows are quite big and uncomfortable if you're not used to that otherwise all good

Great host. Host for this weekend was chatty, informative and knowledgable and also willing to go out of his way to being very helpful and obliging. The motel is old and needs to be upgraded, which I believe they are in the midst of. Completing 1 villa at a time. Certainly very comfortable, great supplies of shampoo, body wash and hospitality items. I would stay again and recommend others to this facility.

My unit and another were burgled. The duty manager was slow to do anything except call the owner. The owner took charge but I still have no correspondence from the motel re the police report number, etc

A bit dated but very spacious and comfortable. There were only 3 of us but the room could have easily accommodated 6. From a cleanliness perspective there was a little bit of mildew in the bathroom area and the kitchen cupboard shelves were a bit sticky but otherwise everything else was fine. The free wifi was good. The location is a little bit away from the main shopping/beach area of the 'Mount' but was fine for us being a 5 minute walk to the beach, a park with playground or the local shop. A short drive to Bayfair Mall or Baywave pools. Overall we'd be happy to stay here again.

Decor and facilities a little dated but clean and comfy

Would be great for a family due to the separate bedroom. Ideal for my visit as close to the business district.

An error with the booking however I was given a serviced apartment which was beautiful and almost new.

Great little motel conveniently located between the Mount and Baypark Arena and a couple of minutes walk from the beach.. Manager was very obliging and advised that he is working through the units refurbishing them. I saw one of the renovated units and it is looking very smart. One street back from the main road so very quiet. Comfortable beds and well stocked kitchen (cutlery/crockery etc.)

Stayed in a room with two double beds and two twins and it was HUGE!!! Two beds were in one room and the other two beds were in the main room. Full size refrigerator and lots of cookware and dishes. There was even a full cupboard of extra blankets and heaters in both rooms which was handy as we were there during some cold nights. Located in a super cute and quiet neighborhood and is within walking distance of a huge grocery store. Is a block away from the beach and a thirty minute walk from downtown. The only con that I experienced was that we didn't have a freezer to keep our ice cream but that was our fault for not noticing before buying ice cream ha ha.

Good Motel with all the basic necessities. Clean and easy access. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We arrived a Lil early and there was no problem for an early check in. The area was residential and I had thought it was closer to shops etc. this wasn't a huge problem because we had a car.

Was great! From the service to the comfort of being away from home, just what we needed. Also reception guy was awesome, answered every question and had good response for everything that was needed. Top man 10/10

Great place to stay and very welcoming hosts. Perfect unit for my friends and I and we enjoyed our stay, def will look at going back again. Only disappointment was that another guest parked in our carpark and since it was a visitor we had no idea who they were until they moved in morning. No fault to the owners especially since carparks are numbered. Owners were very apologetic. Added plus was being able to use a washing machine and dryer.

Rooms were dated but clean and tidy. Staff were very helpful. The rooms were spacious with four beds in total but the double mattress in the bedroom was past it's use by date.

This was certainly a stay I won't forget. Book this hotel as It looked nice and tidy and clean. Hotel staff were great, as I entered the room I thought this was clean and tidy but when I shut the doors the smell of moth ball musky smell was overwhelming. Whether the smell was due to the slightly moldy curtains and slight moldy bedroom ceiling I'm not sure. Went to bed ended up waking and midnight to bad asthma and ended up sleeping in my car.

Older style motel in quiet area. Excellent for families with surf boards etc available free. Close to shopping

Just what we needed after camping out on the Coromandel for the previous week. a good place to dry out and re group before moving on.

A spacious, well appointed motel within easy reach of a lovely, clean beach and only minutes to "The Mount". We had the best nights sleep in the most comfortable beds. The staff were lovely and the kids loved the free wifi. We would definitely stay again.

I needed a place to stay for two nights while attending a family party and didn't want to pay a fortune, while wanting somewhere handy in Mount Maunganui. Blue Wave was fine on both counts. It was not flash but it had everything I needed including free wifi that worked very well, a reasonably equipped kitchen and a comfortable bed.

This motel needs a total refurbishment...was dirty and the fridge never worked properly. We were there for 6 nights and it was $137 per night and very very disappointing. Will not recommend it and willnot go there again! Laundry and barbecue filthy! Never used them. The Manager was very pleasant though but that did not help ....

Close to beach but the room was in poor condition considering the cost - $140 per night.

Hard to find a hotel like this in town I travel around New Zealand and nothing compared to this one

The staff at the office were so friendly. The rooms were huge and well equipped. They were so clean we actually had a game of trying to find dust... we couldn't. The only thing that could improve it would be an extractor fan in the kitchen but that is only being picky
