It was like visiting family somewhere in the wide world, I could have talked to the host Brad for so much longer. He's amazing! I can recommend his B & B to everyone without anything to complain about. He's also baking his own bread and makes fantastic fried eggs, provided by the chickens in his garden. Thanks a lot for this great stay!

A hidden gem! The room is cozy and well-equipped, with coffee, tea and milk provided. Breakfast is homemade — fresh bread, eggs from their own chickens, and homegrown citrus. Hosts Brad and Fujiko are incredibly warm and full of great local tips. The outdoor deck is lovely. There are also three friendly cats roaming around which made the stay even more charming. Highly recommend!

The hosts were incredibly friendly and gave us lots of great recommendations about the city and local restaurants. Brad also made us a delicious breakfast, and the fresh eggs from the backyard were absolutely amazing! We had such a lovely stay and would definitely come back to stay with them again. 😊

Quiet street. Warm, cozy, and gracious hosts. Bedroom was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast consisted of freshly baked bread and free range eggs cooked to perfection as requested. Would recommend to any solo travelers.

Was a steep climb up the driveway to the house.

The service was impeccable with homemade bread every morning with freshly laid eggs. Hosts were polite and courteous. The towel policy of one per day worked out ok. Amenities were spotless.

Heat management once it was sorted demonstrated the wood heater was capable of throwing out heat. Front door steps were slippery during rain with weeds hanging over risers. I found the lighting to be dim at early hours of the morning upon leaving and navigated the steps very carefully.

Everything was really nice

Brad and Fujiku are very friendly and helpful! The place is lovingly furnished and clean. Toast with eggs was very delicious for breakfast and it‘s not far to the inner city and other attractions like Mount Taranaki by car.

Brad and Fujino were phenomenal, they run a brilliant old school bed and breakfast with stunning views, beautiful clean curated room, Brad made eggs on toast from their chickens in the backyard and I enjoyed every minute of my stay, highly recommend.

There were 3 lovely cats that were great, but if you were allergic this might have been a shock as even one ended up in my room at one point when I went to take a shower.

Breakfast was fine , host helpful , making the most of what the venue offered.

Found the bedroom too small, would be better with another toilet in the house.

16 Havelock - A pleasant place to stay. Our welcoming host and chef Brad who clearly loves living in New Plymouth. The breakfast which consisted of Muesli, Fried Eggs and / or Sausages with Toast and Tea / Coffee which set us up well until lunchtime. The view of Mt Taranaki from the deck.

Very friendly, comfortable and convenient. Wonderful views, including the mountain, on most of our three days. And memorable cooked breakfasts, courtesy our host and his chickens.

Cozy and quaint home, lovely hosts, very friendly, cute kitties, beautiful property, the weather was rainy the whole time but it did not take away from the experience. Would HIGHLY recommend.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und haben viele Tipps für Aktivitäten bekommen! Das Frühstück mit selbstgebackenem Brot und Ei von Hühnern aus dem Garten war superlecker. Alles war total sauber und die Betten bequem!

The room was tiny, but it was advertised that way so very fair.

Brad was very helpful and really easy to get along with. We had beautiful home made toast with lovely eggs from his hens, a great night's sleep and fantastic shower in the morning to start our day.🤗

The only thing we didn't like was the weather, but the host couldn't help that.

Awesome hosts with a very positive energy, super clean rooms, lovely cats, homely atmosphere, great views, quiet neighborhood, good breakfast and the possibility to make yourself at home (make tea, leave something in the fridge etc.)

Sharing the bathroom with others can be tricky but actually worked out really well!

The B&B is absolutely amazing. We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the accommodation. Brad is a very nice host and a nice person to chat with. He bakes delicious bread. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you so much!

The house is well equipped, very comfortable bed, house is very clean and well decorated, and most of all, the owner is amazing, he made us great breakfast with homemade bread. We had a wonderful time and we wish we could stay longer. Highly recommended

The room is spacious for one, everything needed was provided, bathroom and toilet are both squeaky clean. The hosts are both very kind and welcoming, they even allowed me to prepare my own food in their kitchen. The breakfast that prepared by Brad was simple yet delicious, and I personally like the homemade bread very much. Sad that I didn’t get to enjoyed the view due to the weather :( I enjoyed my stay at Brad and Fujiko’s place very much and would definitely recommend to others as well !

The best part is...EVERYTHING. The location, the garden, the layout of the accommodation, the spacious room, and the super comfortable beds. Brad makes a delicious breakfast, especially the eggs from his chickens, which thrive in the tranquility and relaxation of that environment, and the bread! Brad is a man who enjoys life's simple pleasures, and that's precisely what he conveys at all times. Staying in Havelock is choosing rest, tranquility, a pause, not thinking about anything, just existing and enjoying the surroundings. I feel very fortunate to have chosen this place and to have met Brad; he´s been very inspiring.

This is a lovely accommodation. Brad and Fujiko were very warm hosts. Great breakfast. Very Clean toilets and shower. Great view of the mountain from the deck on a good day. Easy parking. Will surely look to stay again on my next trip to New Plymouth.

Emplacement génial quand le mont est dégagé, et même quand ce n’est pas le cas ! C’est proche de tout en voiture. Les hôtes sont très gentils, discrets, et de bon conseil. Je reviendrai ici pour mon prochain voyage c'est sur ! Petit bonus pour le pain délicieux et les œufs le matin 😋

Location was handy to city centre, with views of Taranaki Maunga. Brad and Fujicon were welcoming and non-intrusive. Accommodation was warm and cosy. Breakfast was generous and tasty.

The house is very clean and tidy and peaceful without feeling like you have to be silent. The breakfast is soooo good - fresh baked bread and poached eggs from the chickens that live at the house. Wonderful way to start the day. The beds are very comfortable.

Cats in the house caused me a problem as I have a cat allergy - owners respond well by providing me with antihistamine tablets that did the job. Would have been useful to have that on the booking/advertising information.

Beautiful view from the deck outside, small but comfy room, good homemade breakfast, good location, lovely hosts, best shower pressure ever.

Single room was lovely, very clean, comfortable & decorated beautifully. Lovely breakfast provided each morning & waking up to the smell of fresh baked bread was very pleasant.

The breakfast was wonderful and it was so good just getting up and sitting down to a cooked breakfast. It made the erst of the day so much better. The house was well laid out and clean and very comfortable. The hosts were wonderful.

I can't remember if the advert shows that there is a set of stairs to get to the house. Not a problem for most people but good for people to know so if they can't do stairs they know to go elsewhere.

Brad and Fujiko were terrific hosts, and 16 Havelock was a lovely home away from home while visiting family in New Plymouth. Breakfast was delicious, with Brad baking fresh bread and cooking eggs from their backyard chickens each morning. It was also a nice time to meet the various other guests. I stayed in a single room, which was perfect for a solo traveller. A highlight was the spectacular views of Mt Taranaki and the ocean from the lounge room and deck.

Perfectly located with glorious views to Mt Taranaki. Short trip into town, close to beaches and walks. We couldn’t have asked for more at the end of our North Island trip. Brad was an excellent host with a down to earth, live and let live nature. We totally enjoyed our stay and were kind of sad to leave in the end!!
