Reviewed Aug 9, 2026Comfortable and cozy hostel, the rooms and shared spaces were clean and well maintained, and the kitchen well equipped. The staff were nice, and they were accommodating when I requested a room change (due to a loud snorer). Good location - quiet area but very close to the city center. And last but not least - good backpacker vibes. I would definitely return if I was in the area.
Some of the bathrooms felt a bit old and could use a touch up (while some were indeed newer).

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026Great location, with a supermarket, a petrol station, McDonald's, and Burger King nearby. It's only a 20-minute drive to the Mount Taranaki trailhead car park.
There is only one bathroom and one toilet on the floor. The bed was a little squeaky.

The main shower by the room had cold water, had to go to another part of the hostel to get hot water. Where I had to go there was nowhere to put shampoo etc. The room said there was a plug by each bed. There was only a multiplug on the ground at end of beds, and there were only two lockers so there was nowhere to store anything.

Reviewed Jun 14, 2026The location was good, supermarkets nearby, and also free parking on the street. Kitchen was well equipped, fridge can be used with organized system. The receptionist was friendly.
The bathroom sink has hot and cold water tap separately which makes it hard to even brush the teeth. The pressure in the shower is low and have to wait 4-5 minutes for the warm water. One bathroom per floor is a bit busy sometimes. Kitchen was being cleaned (and closed) in the morning late rush hours, this could have been done a bit later. The bed was too soft for my taste, but for some it can be ok.

L’habitació feia podor a aigua bruta. Lliteres molt molt incomodes (i això que he viatjat molt en Hostels), els coixins semblen de paper de lo prims que son. L’aigua calenta no surt amb pressió de la dutxa, surten gotes, aixi que es molt incòmode dutxarse. Tot sembla molt vell. Moqueta molt bruta. Sofàs molt vells. Quan vaig arribar a la 1pm la recepcio estava tancada i em van haver d’obrir els que hi havia per allà. Quan es fa fosc, l’hotel es molt fosc. Tenen molt poca llum.

Reviewed Mar 12, 2026My second time at this hostel and it is still a wonderful place to stay. It is comfortable, has everything you need and most importantly it feels homely. Which is wonderful when you are away from home.
Although functional and ok, I think the bathroom toilets and shower could certainly use some upgrades. Especially the toilets, toilet seats.

Bäder und Toiletten könnten sauberer und komfortabler sein. Die Bettwäsche hatte ein paar Flecken aber war noch in Ordnung.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026It was a really good location in a residential area. Fast food restaurants and grocery stores within a short walking distance and not to far from the CBD. A few blocks in the other direction was Pukekura park, a great place to explore.
The bathrooms could have been better. Needs more clothes and towel hooks in the showers.
