We had a great stay! Bernie and Marie are wonderful hosts—very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The B&B was comfortable and a lovely place to stay. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Beautiful grounds, very peaceful, spacious room. nice decor, great breakfast, spa and sauna, tea/coffee & fresh milk with treats, very friendly local hosts. Lovely extra touches like electric blankets, bath robes, extra heating, heated towel rack (and night time port in the lounge room!)

Large country lodge set in Ohakune complete with cosy rooms, magnificent grounds, guest lounge, spa and sauna. Breakfast was a selection of hot cooked and home-made delights. Bernie and Marie are wonderful hosts......so good we immediately booked our second stay.

A beautiful and comfortable lodge with everything, including breakfast done to perfection. We loved our stay and Rod and Marie went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The lodge and surroundings are beautiful. We also loved the animals including the alpacas, chickens, sheep and cats, as well as the hot tub and sauna.

We needed a longer stay.

Room was comfy and warm. This was a really amazing stay. Bernie and Marie are lovely and spent a great deal of time ensuring we had the best possible time - they recommended us a great dinner in town, have a selection of wines available at decent prices, offered us a complimentary glass of tawny, gave us recommendations for a scenic route on our way to Wellington, made a delicious breakfast of yoghurt, eggs, bacon, homemade honey, jam, marmalade and lemon curd. We met fresh kittens (they are also breeders but keep the cats separate from guests in case of allergies!), the property is beautiful. Really can't speak highly enough of it.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Ruapehu Country Lodge! It was one of our favorite places to stay during our 3-week trip to New Zealand. The property is beautiful, inside and out. We stayed in the Ngauruhoe room, which had a lovely view of the garden. Hosts Bernie and Marie were very welcoming and accommodating. They served a delicious breakfast (complete with Marie's homemade rhubarb preserves). We enjoyed the family-style breakfast because it gave us the opportunity to spend time with other guests from all over the world. The location of the B & B was perfect for day trips to Tongarriro National Park. Bernie was very helpful in recommending sites to see and scenic drives that were lesser known.

A wonderful 2 night stay here started with Bernie waiting for us in the platform as our train pulled in. Before we even got to the lodge we had a brilliant drive up to Mt Ruapehu and the ski lodges just to show us the area The accommodation is delightful. Lush gardens decorated by their own sculptures snd three alpacas ( and a few sheep ) to greet you The rooms are well equipped. The lounge spacious and generously furnished and the breakfasts wonderful Marie’s home made jams and compote together with their home produced Miluka honey gets the day off to a great start This is a fabulous place to stay and will be a highlight of any trip

We had the most wonderful time in Ruapehu Country Lodge. Lovely room, beautiful gardens to sit and relax and a super breakfast to start the day. Bernie and Marie, our hosts, did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and uncomplicated. After breakfast Bernie gave tips, depending on the weather, what trips or sightseeing would be best for the day. Literally next door there‘s a golf course and Bernie lent my husband his clubs and managed to dig up some ladies clubs for me. Amazing! We had a good time on the course, thanks Bernie!!

A quiet elegant and comfortable place to stay to break up a long drive. Delightfully friendly hosts, super comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property and very well kept spacious grounds. The room was really comfortable and there was lots of communal internal and external space available too, including use of a comfortable lounge, spa and sauna. The location is a peaceful country setting but with very easy access to nearby Ohakune where there are plenty of very nice restaurants. There is access straight onto Waimarino Golf course which we made use of and enjoyed. Marie and Bernie were fantastic hosts providing us with everything we needed. We also enjoyed the hearty breakfast which set us up ready for the day. We definitely intend on returning in the future.

Perfect stay. We were here for 3 nights, very nice people, amazing homemade breakfast, sauna, whirlpool beautiful rooms, everything there what you might want. 30 min drive to the National Park Village on a good, empty road. Clear recommendation!

This was the asolute Highlight amongst all accommodations past three weeks. A fantastic wunderland of estate, so meticulously maintained and arranged. Just the driveway is unique and surprising. But the real Highlight are Marie and Bernie. Mange tak Marie and many thanks Bernie. You cared so nicely and made our short stay so pleasant og hyggeligt. The jet-boat trip Bernie arranged on our arrival was great. We left with great memories. Hope to see you again and Happy New Year og Godt nytår!

We stayed for 3 nights. Both Marie and Bernie made us feel really welcome and helped us in every way. Preparing for the tongariro crossing and the relaxing afterwards. The breakfast was also very good. Thank you for the amazing stay with superb service

This is one beautiful place to stay, set in lovely grounds complete with llamas, sheep and chickens. Several days here rather than just two nights would have been perfect. Maria and Bernie are first class hosts. A fine breakfast which included home produce.

We were warmly welcomed by our two hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The homemade jams and rhubarb compote which accompanied Breakfast were a nice touch and very tasty. The added personal touches really made our stay. For example, our hosts recommended a more scenic drive back to Wellington and a place to eat in nearby Ohakune.

The bathroom sink was too small for a serious face wash!

We spent an amazing, relaxing 3 days at Ruapehu Country lodge. Bernie and Marie were extremely friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The communal lounge with its big, roaring fire, was a lovely place to enjoy a glass of red after a long walk. The rooms were clean, cozy and well appointed. We will be back to explore this region further and can’t wait to come and stay here again!! Highly recommend

My husband and I couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough. Our hosts Marie & Bernie were so welcoming and nothing was a problem for them. Our bed was so comfy which was great as we had a big day of travelling so the good night’s sleep was needed.

It is an ideal, cozy and comfortable place. Marie and Bernie are perfect guests, they will give you all the help you need to make your stay perfect. If you intend to visit Tongariro National Park, there is no better place to stay. Let them advise you to schedule activities and places to eat in the area.

We saw a mention of this place in a travel supplement, decided to try it and ended up having an easy, pleasant stay. It's a few minutes out of Ohakune in a lovely country setting. The room was very comfortable and elegantly decorated, with a good size, quality bed with nice linen and a comfortable chair, and doors out to a small seating area, which would be pleasant in summer. The en-suite bathroom was small but worked well with a decent shower and good towels. We could make a hot drink in our room, and the hosts mentioned it was fine if we wanted to bring food back to eat at the lodge, but we ate in Ohakune which had quite a few dining options. There was a very pleasant guest lounge, and host Bernie lit the fire each night; we could have watched TV there, or in our room. We enjoyed the spa pool at the lodge - robes, slippers and extra towels provided, and in the morning we had a good cooked breakfast. Overall a very nice place to stay. The hosts were great at communication around our booking, very welcoming, and informative about the area.

Everything!! Especially the hosts they were awesome to talk to and really helpful when we had no transportation to and from the train. Will definitely be back soon!! The breakfast was wicked too and perfectly set out for us to enjoy each morning.

We loved our stay at Bernie and Marie's home. They both made us feel warm and welcome with their kindness and even as hosts went the extra mile for all of their guests, we were there for one night and the only thing we regret is not staying for a longer duration. 10/10 outstanding service. We loved this place. The staff were so welcoming and thoughtful - an excellent B&B experience. Rooms were comfortable and lodge area was very comfortable. A delicious, home cooked breakfast was included. Finally, they place has a number of animals on premise and our hosts were very kind to let us pet some of the animals including, sheep, alpacas and a few Maine Coon cats!

We were surprised that apart from emptying the bins, our room was not serviced. Communial lounge overlooked the spa, which was, in our opinion, a lack of privacy for everyone.

Everything was great!

Hot tube and sauna were excellent. Fire in the living room was very cosy. Alpacas on site that you can interact with.

Bernie and Marie were absolutely delightful hosts and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The property is conveniently located near to the various activities in the area, which made travelling to and from a breeze! Breakfast was also amazing, and with sheep and alpaca at the property as well, I can’t recommend this stay more!

Breakfast was great - hand built to order with a lot of fresh and homemade ingredients. Sauna really helped after a day on the mountain. Grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Loved the sheep and alpacas.

Everything was great. Cat allergy could have been an issue but I was dosed up and they stay on one side of the house (and they're great looking cats).

Our hosts Bernie and Marie did an excellent job at making us feel welcome to their home. It’s in a perfect position close to restaurants and hikes and the base of the ski fields. Bernie made us a delicious hot breakfast before we left.

Hidden gem in Ohakune! The location is great and beautiful surroundings. It's clean, tidy and warm. Marie and Bernie are great hosts and make you feel at home. Breakfast was yum and their homemade jams were so morish. We will definitely come back.

Based on the nightly price we chose the property for a luxury experience however we were disappointed with the room and in particular the ensuite.

Bernie and Marie were tremendous hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast. Stayed here in 2019 with different hosts. Didn't think it could have been any better than our last visit but I think it is 5.5 out of 5
