Two Rivers Ohakune - Boutique Bed and Breakfast

Scott and Ulla were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The facilities in the room were great, clean, modern and very comfortable. Breakfast was well thought out and plent of options. Onsite drying facilities for skiis was really useful. We even got a go in the spa pool for one of the other rooms at no extra charge. You could tell our hosts really cared about providing a quality experience.

We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. The accommodation was beautiful, very comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We especially loved the peaceful atmosphere and how well everything was presented and maintained. The warm welcome made us feel at home immediately, and we really appreciated the thoughtful details throughout our stay. The bottle of wine was a lovely surprise and a very nice touch — we enjoyed it a lot while relaxing in the jacuzzi, which made the experience even more special. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for your hospitality!

Great location, wonderful room

Scott and Ula were very welcoming. Scott gave us great recommendations on where to go to see the Lord of the Rings filming locations. The room and breakfast were both really nice, and we also received a complimentary room upgrade with a hot tub under the stars, which was amazing. Thank you.

Die vorhandene Ausstattung Bestuhlung/Tisch für Frühstück bzw. Abendbrot ist unzureichend, ist aber dem eingeschränkten Platzangebot, ein Raum als Wohn-, Schlaf-Essbereich, geschuldet. Durch die Möglichkeit 2 großen Koffer unter den Betten zu verstauen, gab es eine kleine Entspannung,

Zimmer waren ansprechend, modern ausgestattet, aber räumlich sehr beengt. Hatten für den Zimmerpreis etwas mehr erwartet.

We werden super vriendelijk ontvangen door Scott, de grapjes gingen al snel over en weer. Ons verblijf was zo luxe met een fantastisch uitzicht. Een heerlijke whirlpool, waar wij dan ook graag gebruik van hebben gemaakt. De inventaris is compleet. Omdat het verblijf niet over een wasbakje beschikt voor de borden en het bestek, krijg je een mand waar je de vaat in kunt leggen, dan wordt het schoongemaakt. Hoe super is dit?! Overigens deden wij het zelf, maar dat is onze keus. Niets was te veel voor Scott en Ula hadden wij inmiddels ook ontmoet. De was doen? Geen punt! Scott en Ula zijn zulke lieve en mooie mensen, ze zijn in de 3 nachten dat wij er verbleven in ons hart gaan zitten. Ons verblijf hebben we met een gezamenlijk etentje afgesloten. Hopelijk zien we elkaar weer!

We received a very warm welcome from the owner and some recommendations for nearby hikes and activities in the area. The room was very comfortable and clean and the breakfast provided was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed a soak in the lovely hot tub with a serene few over the river which was super relaxing. A visit from the resident cat was a welcome bonus, I resisted catnapping her!

Incredible location and beautiful cottages, clearly a real labour of love - the hosts were super welcoming and informative and gave us excellent recommendations for nearby walks and restaurants. The spa was divine and you cannot beat the ambience of being right beside the two rivers looking up to the mountains.

A space to hang wet gear after hiking in the wet would be good.

Excellent B&B tucked away just off the high street of Ohakune. The room was private and comfortable with a lovely view over the gardens & stream.. The kitchen & bathroom are small but modern. The location is excellent, I stayed here for two nights as a base for the Tongariro crossing. You can organize pick-up for a shuttle from the B&B if you wish. It is only a short walk into town for plenty of dinner options and the hot tub was lush. The owners communicated well and were very friendly when they met me to check-in. Even booking a restaurant for me on one of the nights. I would recommend.

Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. So nice to arrive to a wonderfully warm room and then have access to the hot tub. Towels were lovely and soft, with extra towels for hot tub. Woke up to a view of the mountain and a nice breakfast awaited us in the fridge. Welcoming and very attentive hosts.

Great hosts, lovely room, good breakfast. The spa tub was exactly what we needed after a long day.

The room was cozy and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay (even local craft beer!). The hot tub was a treat, and Scott was a friendly, thoughtful and helpful host - always responsive, and he even accommodated my charging an EV overnight at the property. The kitty (Autumn) that lives in their house was a totally sweetheart.

The outdoor space is not completely private, but the owners have put in a movable screen you can use to shield the space more if you'd like.

Highly recommend! Two Rivers Ohakune is a beautiful bnb where you fall asleep to the sound of a river and wake up to beautiful fields and hills outside your window. The bed was very comfortable; the room was spotless; and the breakfast (and complimentary snacks!) was great! I stayed here while doing the Tongariro alpine crossing, and the hot tub after the hike is perfect. The hosts are very responsive and gave helpful tips for restaurants and for the hike. Would definitely stay here again!

Three units, we had the single unit offset from main house. Two others share a deck and face river. New owners/host are attentive and proud. Details are considered in room layout and comforts. Ohakune is a ski/mountain activity hub. Outfitters and restaurants abound. If making this stop, Two Rivers will be a great base.

Absolutely loved our stay at Two Rivers! After completing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, the spa pool was an absolute dream—just what we needed to relax and unwind. But the real highlight was being able to swim in the river—such a stunning and refreshing experience! The whole place had such a peaceful and welcoming vibe. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful location between beside rivers with view of Mt Ruapehu (cloud permitting). Hosts were very welcoming and gave friendly advice about local walks. We did the Mangawhero Forest Walk which took around an hour along well maintained trails through stunning forest, recommended. For dinner we did a nice walk through forest to town centre takes about 15 mins. We came back via roads after dark. Room was quiet and comfortable with outdoor terrace and hot tub. It was quite small without much storage space but okay for a short stay. A continental breakfast was provided in the fridge. Ideal mid way stopping off point for us from Rotorua to Wellington.

We loved the place. Scott was a great host, explaining everything and giving tips for the evening dinner. As only 2 rooms of the 3 were booked, we had the big Jacuzzi all for ourselves, which was perfect after the long walk of the Tongariro Crossing. The weather was nice so we could have breakfast on the terrace with a beautiful view of the mountains. Thanks for the warm welcome.

The room was indeed small, but that's mentioned in the description. 18 sqm don't grow by themselves, as Scott liked to explain.

Lovely little self contained cottage with spa. Spa was most appreciated after Tongariro Crossing. Awesome location with beautiful view of river and beyond from the bed. Only 30 minutes from National Park. Scott was a great host. Couldn’t do enough to make sure you had a great stay

Absolutely everything, hosts were extremely helpful in suggesting dining options and walking tracks. Room was beautifully appointed and we appreciated the hot tub after a long walk. Breakfast was exceptional and we sat on the balcony looking at the glacier on Mt Ruapehu whilst listening to the 2 rivers merging at the base of the garden. A very pleasant setting.

The house is not hard to find - if you have a navigation system, but the last hundred meters before arrival, you start wondering you are at the right spot. We received a very warm welcome upon arrival, and an upgrade to room in a separate small house. I call it ‘the tiny house’. It was clean, well equipped, but small. There is no space to store your luggage, no table to eat. I wonder how you will deal with this in the winter time if you have to take care of your ski equipment/clothes. Apart from that, it was comfortable. Breakfast was already in the fridge, a good thing as we planned on leaving very early. One downside: they have a Nespresso coffee machine, but not the coffee of the brand (and that alternative one was no good – at least, I did not like it). Clearly, the owners have the right 'mindset' to run a B&B!

Would recommend at least two night stay. Tranquil location with the two rivers at your doorstep.

Scott is a great host who takes great pride in customer comfort and service. We stayed in the room with the spa for 2 nights. It has all the amenities you require and is very comfortable with a touch of luxury as advertised. The spa is wonderful with a fantastic view, As is the outside deck with a great setting set to the sound of the two rivers. Shower power is great. It's an easy very pretty walk to the town for eating. Scott has owned two rivers for 7 .months and is very open to feedback and is clearly making improvements all the time.

Everything was so well thought out - the lovely welcome packages including great local beers, the breakfast provided and also the offer to book restaurants. The location is also absolutely stunning! The spa pool was really welcome, especially after a long day doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing! The rooms were very comfortable and cosy. Scott was super friendly and accommodating with good recommendations and obvious passion for the area. We loved our stay and would happily go back if we were ever in the area again.

Wonderful stay at two rivers . Scott & Ula are charming hosts , who made sure we had everything we needed. Peaceful setting with fabulous views of the local rivers & Mount Ruapehu from our room. They even reserved the Cyprus Tree restaurant for dinner , which was excellent. Spent a happy hour flyfishing from their garden beach , just a perfect stopover.

On a fine day this place has it all. Close to babbling brooks and gorgeous mountains. Scott, one of the hosts, welcoming and helpful. In our tiny room, care was taken to make it presentable and with various treats. The continental breakfast is adequate and thoughtful. But this place is touted as luxury accommodation and the price charged suggests just that. However we had one of three separate rooms, all of which seem tiny. So- there are two issues. The first is size. There is just not enough room to do much. No casual chairs- just a small eating table. It is a struggle to find a space to put things. The other is the design- those in the adjoining room use a common entrance way and must walk right in front of the outlook windows of the neighbors. So privacy seems not to have been thought through. It is what it is- probably adequate for a one night stay over but even then, it barely makes the cut especially for the upper range of cost.

We were made to feel very welcome, and the little room had everything we wanted. We loved going to sleep with the sound of the rivers just below. Hot tub was great, and we were really grateful for the drying room as we had got very wet when out walking.

I returned to Japan last week. I was lucky to start my first trip to New Zealand by spending the first two days at Two Rivers Ohakune. The location is surrounded by beautiful nature and the sound of a beautiful river. The rooms are clean and well designed, and are designed to ensure privacy so that you won't be disturbed by anyone. And above all, the warm hospitality of the hosts is wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place to travelers who want to avoid the crowds in tourist spots. I will be stopping off in New Zealand for work next year, and I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity. 日本に先週帰国しました。今回の初めてのニュージーランドを旅する中で、最初の二日間をTwo Rivers Ohakuneで過ごすことから始められたことは幸運でした。そのロケーションは、素晴らしい大自然、美しい川のせせらぎの音に包まれいます。その部屋は、清潔でありデザイン性に優れていて、加えて誰にも邪魔されないようにプライベートを確保できるデザインとなっています。そして何よりも、ホストの温かいもてなしが素晴らしいです。ぜひ、観光地の混雑を避けたい旅行者にお勧めしたいと思います。私も仕事でニュージーランドに来年立ち寄りますが、機会があれば再訪したいです。

Great setting. Excellent facilities and friendly staff. Snacks and breakfast were amazing

I went for the girls' weekend away. The accommodation was great, and the hosts were very welcoming. They looked after us well and went out of their way to accommodate us. The facilities are very tidy. Great location close to town, only a short walk away. A spa while listening to the flowing water and birds around us was a highlight. I would highly recommend it!

Two Rivers provided a wonderful opportunity for rest, relaxation and restoration. We felt thoroughly spoilt: waking up to the magnificent mountain views from our bed (Mangateitei Suite), enjoying time in the spa pool and relaxing while enjoying the tranquil surroundings - and the snacks provided. It was good to meet Scott and Ula who were thoughtful and helpful - ensuring that we had a fabulous break in this beautiful rural setting. The weekend away was a much needed welcome treat. Would highly recommend!
