Mountain View Motel

Clean and quiet, plenty of space, car park directly outside the unit, and the best shower I had in NZ! Only a few minutes drive to supermarket, laundry, marina, restaurants, etc.

No sink in the bench top. No curtain on bathroom window.

Easy to find. Reception well sign written and everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. I got upgraded to a different unit booked which was perfectly fine. Far in excess to my requirements but lovely none the less. Great location in the middle of "town" area. The upstairs view on the private deck was of the lake. A very happy and amazing surprise. QUIET Insulated and warm. TV was easy to use. Felt safe as a solo female traveler.

The BED was average. It was tired and in all honesty probably on the list for replacement. That being said. I still found half a bed side to be comfortable and had a GREAT quiet nights sleep. It's a negative but just a minor one for all the pluses the quiet warm cozy homely feel of these units. They are older, so there is marks on the wall, in the bathroom etc.

No handrails in shower. Shower was too low for us taller people.

Great value for money. Really warm with heat pumps in all the rooms. Clean and comfortable. We'll equipped kitchen. Host was very good. We arrived late but still received a warm welcome.

A light by the bathroom mirror would be helpful.

Really great stay at Mountain View Motel. The 2 bed apartment was so spacious and it was really nice to have the sitting, dining and kitchen area upstairs separate from the bedrooms. Really great location, great base to explore Taupo. Could see the lake from the upstairs of the apartment which was really lovely. Beds were also super comfy!! Visiting in Winter meant it was cold but the rooms have am ac/heating unit which helps warm the place up. Car space allocated right outside too which made it so convenient when transporting things to and from the car. Would definitely stay again.

Recently refurbished, room looked great and was very comfortable. The views were also great! They were also very accomodating with our trailer when parking. Very close to town centre.

Location was great, very near to town. The staff I dealt with also lovely even though he was juggling many hats! Very polite, but yes, great location

In the main lounge there were no blinds or curtains at all which I did not like considering the room overlooked houses and buildings at the back. No privacy in this regard but this could be easily rectified. No heating in the bedroom, it was pretty cold. The bathroom was very old fashioned and could honestly do with an upgrade. The toilet was very disgusting to look at, even though it was limescale it did not look good - whole bathroom very outdated. Old fashioned taps which were hard to turn to the right water temperature. I scalded myself and jumped out to readjust, not good!

We were upgraded to a larger room than we booked. Bed was comfortable, bathroom and kitchenette area were well equipped and the soap smelt great! Rooms have been recently renovated to a high standard. Short and easy walk into town, with free parking on site.

We enjoyed our stay immensely no complaints staff were superb. Look forward to staying there again.

The location is convenient and there is a lot of space, heating worked well and check-in was easy. Definitely good value for a night or more.

We had to deposit 200 NZD, which did not happen in any other accommodation so far. Somehow the bathroom had no fans o window so the wet air can't escape...

We stayed for one night as we are travelling to the South Island. Jessica was very friendly and allowed us to check in a bit early. The two bedroom apartments are very spacious and everything was clean and comfortable. Great location for walking to the lake and town centre. Very short drive to view Hukka Falls and we went to a lovely thermal spa.

Good location, only a short 15 minute walk into the town. Unit was clean and adequate size but not spacious, okay for a short stay. Good heating and it was warm in a very cold weather spell. Living area has been redecorated but the bathroom remains a little dated, although it was very clean.

No sink in the kitchenette area was inconvenient and required you to use the bathroom hand basin for dish washing. Not ideal and maybe not totally hygienic. Also there was no extraction fan in the bathroom and toilet areas, quite unusual these days and not really up to standard on this aspect.

I booked for 6 but ended up with only 4 people, but the two storied unit was huge, with more than enough space for six. The view from upstairs was truly a mountain view, and the unit was nice and light and warm.

It would have been good to have a separate toilet and bathroom, especially if there were six people. The single beds were comfortable, but very small - luckily we are small people but it would be a squeeze for a taller/bigger person. The iron provided was dirty on the bottom and burnt a hole in my clothes.

I loved the piece and quite, the beautiful view, I wihs I spent more time in the motel as I was there on business. HOwever the hospitality was awesome. Thank you.

Comfy bed, smart TV with Sky, parking right outside. Friendly staff who give you milk upon arrival. Good location, about a 5-10 min walk into the main bit of town.

This is the second time we have stayed here and enjoyed it. Comfortable stay, very clean, child friendly and well maintained. Kids loved the double storey feature of the motel rooms!

The toilets are a bit old construction but clean. The hot and cold water is still separate i.e. doesn't have a mixer. Also the staff on arrival are polite but could be more warm and friendly.

Great value accommodation. We were travelling for a sports tournament and had an adult, teenager and 10 year old so needed something with multiple beds but not costing the earth. We got a 2 bedroom family unit set over 2 levels with additional single beds in the living room space. While the property is a bit tired it was really clean, well located and beds were comfortable.

Property is a bit tired but we weren't staying there for contemporary aesthetics - we wanted clean, safe and additional space for the 3 of us and the accommodation delivered in that respect.

The location is good, not to close to the town centre. There is a few new upgrades that make it feel new.

The toilet needs upgrading but was really clean.

Not all rooms could be classed as having a "mountain view".
