The property is clean and peaceful
The drive way is to narrow
Plenty to do (activities, see in surrounding area),peaceful (no noise visitor next door or nearby restaurant etc) accommodation was perfect
Roads (municipal issues not resort)
The view was exceptional!!!
The staff from the restaurant, the ladies from the bar and restaurant, they were not welcoming at all.
The unit was amazing , absolutely clean and welcoming . The view and appeal of the surroundings were outstanding.
The splash pool was disappointing, mouldy with algae. The cover was torn and not attractive at all. It really didn't go well with the beauty of the unit. Sundowners were cancelled.
The property as beautiful and clean
none
neat and clean and fairly well maintained
Restaurant service and food quality can be improved
Beautiful views
No microwave in the rooms, there’s a convenient store to buy some groceries but can’t cook them in your room or warm them up.
Well maintained very neat
The roads are pathetic. It’s a well known resort, so can they not do up the road going into the resort? Also although the accommodation is lovely, having another family stay in the same house is not ideal. A bit too expensive if you don’t have timeshare.
The setting and location
No halaal food served 😟
The heated pool, the views and the service from staff.
The restaurant being under renovation. TVs not accessible to YouTube and Netflix
Really spacious apartment with beautiful views
Some mornings the water in the geyser was cold
Villas and bedding...immaculate Service was excellent
Ok
Ok
The view and the massage treatment
They made a promise to do something cute for our anniversary. "which I said I'll pay for" it was supposed to be a surprise for my husband. Only to walk into a undone room. Power outlets where faulty. Restaurant food was not amazing at all. Either overpowering strong or very bland.
The room and view of mountains
Dinner
Everything. Staff facilities activities Location is also close to other attractions and activities
Shower clogs and floods the bathroom Beds were extremely hard. Struggled to sleep
It was clean , spacious, comfortable, and had all The facilities
The only thing that put me off is that the restaurant was empty when we arrived only 2 other tables of guests , and they took so long to serve us and bring our food , even to come take the order , they took very long between drinks , mains etc
Beautiful and clean
The lack of air conditioners/heater in the cold was a disappointment Furthermore showers were leaking on the sides
It’s very clean and staff is very friendly
The temperature of the swimming couldn’t be controlled as a result we didn’t swim because of the cold water
Overall service and facilities
The heated pool was exceptional since it was freezing, the view was amazing in the afternoon and the staff were also kind.
That they don’t have air conditioners in the bedrooms.and also the geyser wasn’t working but the maintenance guy came quickly to fix it.
The friendly staff and rooms, the a Jacuzzi was the highlight

The staff was extremely friendly, Nombuso and Blk Dragon assisted me with my marriage proposal and they were above and beyond. It was better than i planned it to be thanks to them. Petunia at the Cafe made us the most amazing tea every morning. Thank you so much!
We loved everything
Lovely setting and villa with all amenities

The views
I'm pregnant and wasnt feeling well . The reception was very kind and helpful and called a paramedic to check up on me at 10pm at night . Then everytime I saw the reception staff they asked if I was okay . Which was really kind . A Special thanks to Arnold the security / first aid . Who saw to us immediately and got the paramedic there in a short few mins . He really didnt waste anytime in taking the best care of us . And even reassured us that if we needed anything during the night he was there to assist . Which was really way more kindness than we could've ever expected .
All activities are in one place. No need to drive out
Almost nothing
Staff, especially Nombuso and all facilities and the food
Roads leading to the resort
The cleanliness, facilities
I didn't like the buffet breakfast, and I believe the variety and quality can be better. Better size muffins, fresher fruit.
Yes
The view is beautiful. Also ended the activity’s . I also did enjoy food in the restaurant.
Very clean and child friendly. Beautiful views throughout the resort. Plentiful activities for kids . A perfect get away for a family.
Staff at reception was not patient enough when explain where our villa was.
Cleanliness Location No need to leave the site everything you need is next to you
No microwave on B rooms

Check in process was nor good the staff was not helpful..
Facilities were clean. Splash pool was amazing. Lots of things to do for the kids.
Left side of the gas stove wasn't working. Inconsitent tempertature of water in the showers and baths. Unit 11A.

Beautiful place . Clean
Lots of noise in the house . From the fridge and toilets and gysers
I enjoyed everything, the views, the food was amazing, you didn’t have to leave the resort to have a good time!
Only thing that bugged me was trying to get the bill at the restaurant, my partner and I would wait and wait to try get the bill and it happened more than once. The waitress behind the cashier was also not there for a while on separate occasions so it was impossible to leave when we wanted.
The views are immaculate but ruined by unfriendly staff members.
Upon arrival, Nombuso was extremely rude at reception. She ignored my questions, spoke to me in a very dismissive and disrespectful tone and even when I mentioned it was my husbands birthday, would it be possible to be given a unit with the best views, she gave me a unit that was extremely average with towels that had bleach stains on them, the bathroom sinks had cracks all over them, we had loud neighbours banging doors and screaming at 1am. This was my second time at Cayley, and I must admit I’m disappointed. Everything seems to have gone downhill a bit. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
The property is beautiful. We loved our room.
We booked a hotel room which meant that we had to use the onsite restaurant. The food was not good. The resort needs a new menu and new chef. Also the service was not the best. Food took long.
I booked via booking.com via Beekman . I only came to know that my room ay Cayley self catering resort don't come with a kitchen and microwave oven 3 days before my stay. SELFCATERING RESORT DOES NOT COME WITH KITCHEN. This is the first time I heard of this. I did not have breakfast at the restaurant. I did not dinner at restaurant. All activities were canceled because of rain. That I understand. When booking no indications were made of kitchen/microwave oven which is extremely disappointing.
Please read the above. I spoken to a Lady at Beekman and she was giving me info. about rooms and what entails in the rooms. She know this because She works there. Why was this not indicated at the time of booking
From the location, to the staff everything was amazing.
The bathrooms could do with an upgrade, instead of bath tubs with shower screens they could put in showers. Complimentary water should be included in the rooms. They have bar fridges but no water. Provide milk in the rooms as coffee creamers don't work for everyone.
Very clean!
Nothing.
Everything
Alcohol prices are high.
All the amenities, the staff were amazing. So much to do you don’t want or need to leave the resort. The kids loved it and were always entertained. The views are even better than shown, in person they are spectacular.
Nothing
Its beautiful..heated splash pool..i enjoyed the infinity pool..
1.slow service at the view bar..cocktails too sweet 2. Having to find your own villa in the dark..poor labelling of the houses..no poter to assist just a map 3.having to fetch the iron at the reception all the way from the villas..imagine putting back pjs after a bath then drive to the reception for an iron..what happened to poters and golf carts.. 3. Having to “reserve “ a spot at the restaurant for an ala carte😳 why if its not a buffet…the road there is horrible…no signs on the road, we kept getting lost.. the place has too many unnecessary rules , makes the stay boring…its NO YOU CANT, every Conner you turn
Layout of the chalet not so convenient for families with young kids as there is an adjoining studio and the walls are not sound proof. The road to reach the property is riddled with potholes. Front of house staff most unfriendly and unwelcoming Restaurant was good, staff friendly and very accommodating. Room was spacious, clean. Beautiful fireplace. Dam activites are great , weather dependant. Kids play area also good. The resort is cashless.
The views
The road leading up to the property could be better and the tone of some of the staff members when you call for assistance is unacceptable. Also, it must be properly advised the danger of going down the dam for activities as I nearly lost control of my car while driving back. Also the code to go out the gate from the dam must be pasted near the keypad as I didn’t find it even after I was told that it was there. On the first night I received an sms to inform us that there won’t be any Wi-Fi, internet and DStv due to maintenance. That should have been communicated before the stay so that I can come prepared. I wasn’t happy with that since the network is not very reliable and we needed data to connect with loved ones.
Everything especially the view and activities
Roadways too narrow
The facilities, location, and activities were great. The place is family friendly
The service at the restaurant was too slow. We waited for good 20 mins to be seated for breakfast. When we enquired, we were told to wait even longer. We opted to leave. We went back for supper, the food was terrible.
I liked everything about the place , mountain views, peaceful and quiet. Everything was beautiful even the workers they are kind and welcoming, I'll definitely come back
The facilities
The roads were very bad
The neatness and service
The lady at reception...didn't seem so friendly when we checked out on Monday morning previous interaction she expected guest to know where things are like toilets etc.
Beautiful accommodation and facilities
The restaurant had very long waiting times
No smart tv
The facilities were great and it was very neat and tidy.
The staff are not very friendly or accommodating.
Pool was not heated at main pool overlooking the mountain and check in at 3pm. We reached there at 3pm and had to wait for chalet to be cleaned. Also check in at 3pm is too late . An entire day is wasted waiting but checkout is at 10am. We get 12 hours for first day check in.
The accommodation was clean . Lots of Activities
Staff - The reception staff where extremely unhelpful. They where rude unwelcoming. The people on duty looked miserable with their jobs and it showed. For a 5 star accommodation there was no aircon in the room . The tea & coffee station was not replenished we had to call reception. I had booked 2 separate rooms , however it was not in the same chalet it was so far away from my room. There's no common area to lounge in after 9pm given the fact that our rooms where so small and so far apart we had no place inside the property to relax and play games after 9
Views.
The restaurant and food. Poor
Air conditioners should be installed
Besides my negative comment below. I loved the location and the accommodation on site. Unfortunately, the first night experience at the restaurant spoiled it for us.
I rarely write negative reviews, but our experience here was genuinely alarming. If I could give zero stars, I would. We were served rotten fish and spoiled steak. The moment the plates hit the table, the stench was unmistakable—it was the pungent, sickening smell of decaying meat. It was so offensive that patrons at the tables next to us were literally covering their noses with napkins. Two separate groups of diners nearby actually asked the staff to move them to the other side of the restaurant just to escape the odor coming from our plates. The most infuriating part was the management's reaction. When we brought it to their attention, they pretended to be completely unaware of the issue. They acted as if it were a minor seasoning preference rather than a blatant health code violation. It is impossible that the kitchen staff didn't smell that "death" on a plate before it left the pass. To serve food in that condition and then gaslight the customers while the entire dining room is reacting to the smell is beyond unprofessional—it’s dangerous.
The activities, the view and the peace of mind
1. I was attracted and booked a unit with a splash pool and self-catering but we were downgraded to rooms that were the same as my children. 2. This is despite the fact that I was attracted to Cayley by the unit with a splash pool for me and my wife but where???. 3. The DSTV was not working. The WI-FI was unstable. The bed linen had wet marks and unchnaged. We had to call for the change. 4. The set up ofvthe units is good but guests are booked inconsiderately. My fam was all over the resorts. The receptionist Nombuso has some attitude she needs help. We had to be nice instead of her just to survive there. The fetching of the iron and the ironing board wuuu...
Cayley is the gem of the Drakensberg. The facilities are superb and the staff are very accommodating. We always thoroughly enjoy our stay. Thank you
The road coming up to the resort requires attention.

The price
The location, views, facilities, and on-site activities were amazing with it all being in one secure private resort estate. Additionally, between the restaurants and convenience store, I did not have to leave the site for anything. The prices for activities and meals were very reasonable. It's a family friendly estate, and packed with activities for all ages including an outdoor garden gym. There are also many great places to visit, all in a +/- 30min drive from Cayley, including a service station, Birds of Prey park, the Chocolate bar with many other stalls and cafes at the same site, the Reptile park and many more.
Most of the roads leading to the resort and the R600 were in bad condition, between potholes and complete road closures with detours around roads that were hard to drive on, but easy to navigate around and the roads improved slightly, closer to Cayley. Once in the resort, the roads were great and well maintained.
I liked everything about the property
I hate the fact that there was no air fryer in the villa and I hated that when guests arrives there’s no welcoming porter to assist with luggage and even a complimentary glass of champagne. Talking about Champagne, there was no champagne glasses in the villa, we set up nicely for our dinner and boom no champagne glasses.
