The location is perfect, very quiet, staff were lovely and rooms would be cosy if they were clean. Such cosy little rooms, nice surroundings. Lovely staff.
The rooms looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. Cobwebs everywhere, hairs round the sink, bath, window ledges, floors, my socks were black after being there (I’ll pack slippers in the future) furniture was dusty and sticky, bath tiles full of mold. It’s a shame because the rooms would be lovely if updated and deep cleaned
It was very easy check in. It had good facilities and the room was located close those. The little mini soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We stayed the night following a wedding at the hotel so very convenient. Friendly staff.
We didn’t sleep very well - due to not finding the mattress comfortable, the curtain wouldn’t fully shut and the room wasn’t very dark. We found it quite hot in the room despite having window open and fan on.
The hotel room was tired ,but clean 😴
There could have been more selection for Breakfast and variety
food had maggots in and the rooms were dirty and unconfutable
nothing
Uncomfortable bed. Initially offered an awful ground floor depressing room in a quiet car park which felt unsafe . A woman on her own shouldn't be put there it was grim and a skimpy 3 inch matress . I paid for a double room but had to move to an u comfortable really narrow single bed! Food normally good there but the chef must have been off as I got an expensive plate of salty slop
Ideal location for our needs
Nothing
Very welcoming and friendly staff.
As we would have wished.
Staff were lovely, responded to our queries timely and were helpful
- The room was very hot and it was very difficult to keep the window open to cool it for our newborn - There was *heavy* mould on the windows - The sink was completely blocked, I had to unblock it myself to even be able to use it and it was dirty and gross - We were promised a fridge in the room when we called a week before our stay but we only got one on day 2, which was quite inconvenient
Had a nice Indian meal and garden area was nice
Stuck in the stables tiny room could hardly move, was not impressed at all at £154 2 nights and nit even in the building , noise from ceilings was terrible creaking was tourcher. people up above moving round most of night, child very early morning running round could hear them talking ceilings were paper thin dont accept the stable rooms
Didn't have breakfast
Bathroom needed an upgrade
Lots of parking available, staff were welcoming. From the road it looked like a nice venue and there was a lively bar area.
The room was in the "stables". It seemed run down, and the layout did not feel particularly secure. Basic facilities, bed not comfortable. We were woken up before 6am by the sound of someone on metal steps outside our room. Breakfast was a disappointment.
Friendly staff great location
Rooms need a upgrade the restaurant take priority over the pub for food

Nothing
Not much.
They need to spend some money on the place, the floor boards have had it and you can here any movement from other guests all through the night. The plumbing is ancient and their food is over priced too.
Everything went well. Great price, and service. Food was very good. Nice gardens and surrounds.
Only problem i encountered was very squeaky floorboards in my room and both adjoining rooms. These were noisy enough to wake me up when people were moving around next door.
Very clean and quite
Could of had a few more pillows
Stay here regularly (every couple of months) - this time had an upstairs room in the stables. Much better than downstairs. Thank you!! Staff are great. Always helpful and accommodating.
If booking is for two people, please put two bath towels in room. Minor issue, and was resolved very quickly
Staff were very attentive and the food was very good.
The rooms, hotel and grounds are tired and need smartening up. We had to.move rooms as not one window opened and it was an extremely hot weekend.
Location and external appearance.
Tired and dirty decor. Mattress badly marked.
Perfect location
Stables are a bit small, not worth the price we paid
Nothing
There is a serious scam being operated by the guy in charge. He cancelled the original booking made correctly through Agoda. Then created a booking of his own with Booking.com, then cancelled this. This is the only booking which appears on the hotel records , the original Agoda booking has disappeared. Due to the Agoda booking being cancelled last minute then Agoda do not refund the money paid for the original booking , but the Elms Hotel tell the guest that this will be refunded. The guests were charged a premium Saturday rate and asked to pay again £85 rather than the original £58 for the Agoda booking. Despite visits in person to the hotel the guy on the desk first denies that it was him who was on the premises on the day of the booking. He was mistaken for someone who he says looks similar who was in charge on the day the booking was made. We are certain however that it was him. There are also what I am sure were bogus calls made to give the guests the impression that booking.com were being called. Calls were made via his mobile , hotel accounts supposedly confirming the bookings , also just on his mobile. The guy supposedly from booking.com saying he could not send an email to confirm the refund as the booking had been made through Agoda. I have more details . I really do hope you will take this seriously and put a stop to this scam. I am certain their will be a pattern of late cancellations which is out of the ordinary. No refunds have ever been received for the original £58 paid despite continued reassurances from the hotel that this would be happening. They kept us waiting for over an hour without any serious progress or confirmation of refund on a return visit we paid a few weeks after the date of the original booking. This is all part of the scam process. You need to stop this guy.
Great value for the night. Room was comfortable and clean. Had a fan too which was needed in this heat!
As other reviews have mentioned you could hear people walking around upstairs but it wasn’t too noisy.
The staff tried their best
It waan restaurae in need of a lot of repairs, it has an indian restaurant which you could smell the food all through the hoyel
Powerful shower
Carpet old and dusty. Needs redecorating. Cobwebs and lots of small spiders. Milk cartons were out of date which curdled the cup of tea. TV did not work had to visit reception twice before rectified. No hairdryer, had to visit reception to ask for hairdryer. The floorboards above creaked a lot when the guest above walked around.
The staff was very helpful and pleasant
The rooms, Very basic, very dated, very noisy bathroom extractor fan. Hallway light switches off before you get the key in the door.
The highlight of the whole stay was that the food was exceptional, freshly cooked, very tasty and good sized portions. Whether you eat in the bar, outside or Indian Restaurant all areas are very clean and nice to be in. Good service and fabulous staff. I arrived late and staff waited for me and carried my bag up to my room as I have a stick. Very kind and made sure I was ok each time I saw them whilst I stayed to perform duties at my aunties. Stable block room was a little tired and basic hallways, but exceptionally comfortable bed. Desk for working at, plenty of room for clothes. TV didn't work initially but was eventually sorted. They had a fan in there for the hot weather which meant although the room was hot, it helped a huge amount. Car park has plenty of spaces and no fear of not being able to park. Being there during the football world cup meant Footee was on the TV in bar area. Having said that it no way imposed on me sitting in various areas when my friend came over, or by myself reading a book.
It would be nice to see some building repairs and decoration work. BUT you don't spend a huge amount of time in your room so it worked for me. I would def stay again.
Very clean and lovely location
It was always perfect
Location service food accommodation all good
Liked all of ot
The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent, a wide choice of lager and cider. Large garden with plenty of shade
The pillow was way too soft and not enough of them.
Food was excellent, staff were friendly. The connection for the bedside light was faulty and the TV in the room too small
As above
Very welcoming, clean & comfortable

Location
Arrived for a family gathering, staff were very helpful. Room was nice, could hear the person above us moving around, we were in the stables section, but didn’t stop us sleeping. Had food in the hotel fish and chips and lamb shank, both delicious. The breakfast was huge, very nice, but couldn’t eat all mine, was full till tea time. Staff very friendly.
Lovley building and very friendly staff . Drinks reasonable price .
Bit tired and Run down on the side of the building and we had one of the stable rooms . Our door didnt shut properly and the bathroom was rundown. Rooms could do with a revamp and very creaky floors could hear people walking about upstairs . Was disappointed in breakfast had to wait ages to be served and the cooked breakfast was burnt and covered in oil and sausages where not great quality .
The location was excellent with ample parking. The reception area was very welcoming as was the bar/dining area
The room allocated was ground floor as requested but away from the hotel in the Stable block with wheelchair assisted access with an exceptional ramp up to the door. However the facilities inside left a lot to be desired especially the bed which seemed to have been an afterthought a timber framed base wth headboard and tailboard attached not a divan type which would have been better the mattress was not protected and had seen better days with severe bobbling of its covering not conducive to a great night’s rest .It was very low we had difficulty getting on and off it as the wooden frame was higher than the mattress not good for a person with a disability.Shower room facilities were excellent adapted well for disabled.Disappointed at not having access to a breakfast menu offered full English breakfast with no alternatives such a shame as it had been highly recommended and why we chose to stay here.
Lovely old building.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar was good and my room was clean and comfortable.
The noise from the room above was very loud- footsteps.
Checking in and dinner
The main problem with room 10 was the extremely noisy floor in Room 16 above, which woke me up every time somebody walked around - five times during the night! I reported this to the Maître D', who said he would get maintenance to check it.
We didn't get to stay Booked through booking.com but on arrival staff stated it shouldnt have been booked as they are fully booked
We didn't get to stay Booked through booking.com but on arrival staff stated it shouldnt have been booked as they are fully booked
In a separate part from the main hotel
Breakfast we paid extra and could have been warmer
Freshly cooked full English delivered with a smile. Excellent location just minutes from the town centre. Ample parking plus extra parking next to our room.
Can't think of anything.
The food was excellent
Everything was fine
Nice and clean and liked the fact Cleaners came daily
Nothing
The restaurant
Sound insulation in the rooms
frendly staff very good breakfast.
nothing
Nice little rooms separate from the main building
Bar staff in the morning looked like they didn't want to be there, I get it but it's still a service industry.
Very clean. Enormous bed. Nice bar area.
Difficult to find the door for late night entry. Kettle couldn’t be unplugged and cord wasn’t long enough to pour water out safely.
Location and price
Bathroom needs updating
Very friendly staff and a real homely feel. What a lovely place. Thankyou for making our stay so very nice
Nothing
Parking limited, I had problems
Comfortable and clean ..exactly what I need for a night or 2 near family in the area .
The bar closes far too early ..😏
Room - good view. Bed - very comfortable
No hand holes in the shower
Clean room. A Good Location . Ample parking.
. bed was smaller than expected and floor boards creak a lot when moving around . You could hear other rooms occupants.
Room ok, bed ok
Every single floorboard creaked when people in other room moved about, basically you could hear everyone else's movements. And the bathroom sink in No.17 was cracked.
The Indian restaurant and the bar are great. The bed was comfortable and clean.
The room we had in the 'stables' was tired and in need of attention. The shower was hot and had okay pressure but the set up made it hard to stand under the water. It took me to ask twice to get two towels for two adults! The sink that didn't drain didn't get sorted during our stay. The room was also really noisy and both mornings we were woken by the noise of people upstairs moving around before six am ! It just feels a bit overpriced for what you actually get. It definitely feels like contractors digs, at normal hotel prices.
Good parking cheap bar

Very friendly staff, and the barcode was excellent !!
It had everything we needed , food 🥘 on site ❤️🔥
Nothing ❤️🔥
Well located for the wedding that we attended. Towels were a good size nice quality. We had a family room for 2 of us and it was a good size with a super king bed. There is an Indian restaurant on site but we were the only guests eating there. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking.
Clearly the building needs a lot of investment to restore and repair it. Hasn’t been decorated in a long time and it is crying out for a facelift. There was a constant creaking of the floor in the bedroom. Breakfast is quite basic . No buffet.
All good
Clean tidy very friendly staff
Staff are lovely, room is great ! Lovely area
People above my room were very noisy Saturday night kept me up a lot of the night. Other nights was lovely and quiet
Excellent
No drinking water
The location was perfect for our visit, and the staff were extremely friendly. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable.
This building has the potential to be beautiful. However, the rooms are very tired, the bathroom was awful. There are holes in the wall and unfinished repairs, holes in the bath, a broken toilet seat and a door that has seen better days. The cleaners should also be advised to clean the skirting boards which were thick with dirt. As for the resident pigeons who are definitely roosting in the attic (not outside in the trees!!) kept us a awake scrabbling about and calling to each other from 4am 🥴. The radiators then turned on at 5am and knocked so loudly we thought someone was at the door, and did a poor job at heating the room. The corridor upstairs smells damp and the carpet on the stairs has seen better days.
The Hotel is extremely dated with extremely dirty carpets in the rooms. I would not book this for staff again.
Main issue was room was very noisy. Could hear people walking around thier rooms as floor boards creeked so loudly. Pipes were also very loud when other rooms flushed their toilets.
See above
Lovely clean room, staff are exceptional, so happy to help in any way. Definitely will be back 😊

Location.
There are no facilities if you check in on Sunday for Monday business meetings. No bar or restaurant. The place seemed to be deserted after 6:00pm. The breakfast was poor and overpriced. Having one appeared to be an inconvenience.
Excellent hotel
Wedding party father of bride in seperate hotel.. dissapointed as when booking direct with hotel phone call, was asked names of wedding party. As a father I expected to be able to spend the night before wedding, close to my daughter.
Fair
Air-conditioned event hall.
Liked the privacy of staying in the stables block. Able to get drinks in bar are and sit outside in the garden
Continental breakfast was very poor and consisted of only a bowl of pre poured cornflakes and 2 pieces of toast for £8.99 No hairdryer in room had to go and ask and no ironing facilities even though I had private messages and they confirmed that they did have ironing facilities.
It was very clean. Lovely hot shower. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. bed was comfy
We stayed in the converted stables and the room was spot on and excellent value for money. We didn't eat but there but the bar was great and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and definitely recommend booking and staying there.
Excellent hotel nothing to dislike
The staff were pleasant and helpful. I very much enjoyed my meal (thai green curry) which they made "hotter" on request. There were plenty of parking options. Power sockets were dotted all around the room allowing a lot of flexibility.
I was staying in "the stables" which I would say were fairly "basic". Nothing wrong per se, but maybe a little dated. The main issue was that it was *very* warm so I wasn't all that comfortable, but then most places are no better... Even though my window had to be left wide open, I did not experience any noise as I was quite set back from all the local roads and the main hotel. The TV was a bit old and small, but it worked, which is better than I can say for other hotels. The shower did not have the most straight forward mixer requiring the odd urgent retreat and adjustment.. For the most part. There was nothing I would actually complain about.
Friendly staff and location
Poor condition of the room Uncomfortable bed No hairdryer Cold breakfast
Location to venue
Room bed poor
