Very good breakfast.
Was ask when booking if required ground floor which was requested however room allocated was on first floor.

Professional staff cleanliness
Nice clean hotel. Staff friendly and welcoming. Nice breakfast.
Rooms a little tired around the edges, carpets could do with a clean!
The location was what we wanted. We chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the area . The hotel looked very nice online and we really thought it would be a special place to stay The parking provision was accessible.
The bedrooms were like dormitories dark and dingy we did not feel that we could relax in the room just not what we expected, we had to keep the windows open for freshness. We ordered a meal from the menu in the restaurant and when it came it looked awful - we brought this to attention of the waitress they tried to sort out the problem but we did not want to upset them as they were polite and they did not cook the meal so we thought it best to pay and leave the restaurant. After all it was supposed to be our anniversary meal 🤨
Better than we expected, door was noisy to close properly, thinking of other guests, but we were never late anyway
It’s fair to say that there is very little choice of hotels in Retford, but that doesn’t take anything away from the BW West Retford Hotel. First of all, it is very easy to find; has plenty of private parking; and is a short stroll to the town centre. The hotel is situated in a large, grand looking building, and has extensive lawns and gardens to explore. Check in was friendly and efficient and our “Executive” room (I hate that old fashioned word!) is in an adjoining building and was roomy and comfortable. The decor is dated, but rather being antique in style, it has the sort of 70s and 80s hotel decor that is synonymous with executive briefcases, hotel rooms and the like, and consists of mainly wood fixtures and fittings. To be fair, the decor is perfectly fine apart from a simply awful wooden frame cum cabinet that surrounds the wall fitted television. I won’t even ask why it is there, but would suggest that if the management got rid of it, the room would look 100% better and more modern. Breakfast is served in a smart dining room and while there is a continental buffet of fruit, cereals, cold meat, cheeses etc., it was pleasing to find that the cooked options are by order and served at your table. We had various combinations over the three days that we were here and found the food to be of good quality, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Service throughout our stay was exemplary and we certainly rate this hotel highly, and would happily come back.
Great staff, nice property and excellent location.
Lack of information in rooms. QR code in room did not provide the promised info/facilities (choosing not to have room cleaned to help the environment) Not even a note to explain which number to call Reception - NOT good in an emergency! Get it sorted.
Really quiet, very comfortable and clean
Struggled to open window in room

location
the bed was rock hard, the stairs were exceptionally steep, the breakfast was cold, no fried eggs
Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast, free car park.
Place was rather tired
Location, style of property, garden
Nothing
We loved the grounds and location. Staff were friendly.
Buffet style breakfast meant some of food tasted stale (hash browns). Bedroom a bit dated
Comfortable room. Good to have an ironing board and iron.
Window difficult to open, sash cord missing
Good value for money in a period building. Comfortable rooms for an overnight stay and friendly, helpful staff
Decor a little dated if there’s anything to say
Great location short walk to town
Great location and amazing customer service. The “night receptionist” dealt with the complaint about loud noise and the “day receptionist” notified about the “found property” before it was noticed it was lost! Impressive speedy return of items.
Other guests opened the “party” fire doors to have a smoke and, in consequence, the music was very loud until after I had phoned reception who responded really quickly.
All staff very helpful, good spacious rooms and restaurant/bar.
Lovely gardens and outside area
All ok
The hotel is very beautiful and at a great price. Our room appeared to be newly painted. There is a huge garden to explore. The beds were extremely comfortable and soft. Delicious vegan and gluten free options for breakfast. The lady at reception was warm and welcoming. Very pleased with the stay.
Could have used a plug socket next to the beds.
Food was lovely.
Nothing.
Breakfast was excellent....prepared fresh and well presented, not just a buffet like others. The room was a good size and comfortable The bar offered a good choice for evening and the garden made a superb environment to relax. Al staff were attentive, helpful and professional
Theres nothing to not like. Some decor could be refreshed.
The whole package Friendly polite staff Easy check Lovely comfortable room Lovely breakfast Easy check out Great nites sleep

Location
Lovely grounds in an excellent location, very near to the center of town with plenty of parking. Very relaxed & peaceful. We have been before & will go again
Every aspect of our visit was excellent
Nothing
Lovely clean rooms and very helpful staff. The location is very great and the hotel grounds very pretty.
The grounds were beautiful
We were unable to watch TV as the sound was set so low it was impossible to hear it. It was very hard to hang anything in the wardrobe Our room was at the very back of the property. I expected a nicer view for the price!
The staff, the grounds ,the room and the place
Nothing really
Breakfast was lovely, good choice and also hot. The dining room where we had dinner was very cold and tiled floor made it feel very clinical. We had breakfast in the adjoining room which was lovely.
The Dining room.
All great

Great location for Retford and suited us for the golf course.
The bed is pretty uncomfortable and there was a light bulb out on the bathroom. Other than that, I would recommend and stay again
Well kept grounds clean and friendly staff
Noise from other guests. However that’s not the hotels fault
Classy property really lovely
Barman flirted with my misses inappropriate
Friendly professional staff. Accommodated ground floor room due to slight mobility difficulty. Excellent breakfast and dinner ok.
Nice ground floor room - very quiet
Easy to find ...friendly staff ..rooms lovely and clean . Stay here every time I come to Retford.
The environment was perfect
The food the tomatoes tasted raw.
The grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was good.
The rooms are very dated. There was no socket near the bed for my CPap machine, which caused me a problem. The bed was not particularly comfortable. Expected more for the price!
The grounds around the hotel are beautiful.
The hotel rooms are dated. The bed was uncomfortable. I wasn't impressed. For the money I paid, I was disappointed.
Nice spacious room, plenty of parking.
Wanted us to pay an extra £20 to be able to checkin at 12noon rather than the 2pm arrival time, which to aligns the hotel with the likes of Ryanair, and we were attending a funeral and the wake was being held in the hotel. Plus we would have had lunch there. Instead it was cheaper to drive into central Retford park at a pay and display and have lunch than pay the extra £20. We also had dinner in the hotel later on which wasn't really up to standard.
Lovely hotel very comfortable beds & spotless, staff very helpful plenty of parking spaces
Only downside is no lift for Frist floor but did not put us off
Lovely gracious hotel, plenty of parking, very close to market place centre of Retford which is a very interesting and pretty little town! Plenty of places to eat / shop. Hotel dinner was excellent.
Really no issues; all good thanks.
Used to live in Retford , was flying over from USA and cousin recommended west Retford as we came for a funeral ! Very welcoming , comfortable and friendly! Excellent power shower and toiletries included! Loved the bed too !
Nothing to report
Nice room & bathroom but perhaps overall hotel decor a little tired but this did not detract from comfortable stay. There are very nice gardens and we enjoyed a light lunch and drink under shade there as arrived a little early for check in - most welcome in extreme heat of the day. Breakfast on first day was omelette Arnold Bennet - a real treat.
Nothing really but disappointed that the served breakfast menu, in addition to the continental buffet, was not available on our second day (Sunday) although the buffet hot food was fine, it was much more limited.
The hotel was slightly dated, however the room was a great size and relatively cool, on a hot night.
The cooked breakfast was the poorest part. I suspect it had a precooked and waited in the kitchen for a couple of hours and it was still very greasy.
The hotel is in a good position, close to the town and with easy access to the A1. It has extensive gardens and a lovely terrace at the back. Good bar and restaurant with friendly staff and a varied menu. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was also a good size with a bath.
Nothing that I can think of.
There is nothing to dislike about the Best Western Hotel, every thing was just perfect.
Norhing
Walkable to town
Rooms too hot and not able to open windows. Fan was provided .
All of it great hotel
Nothing
We really liked the hotel grounds which made for a relaxing stay. The room was a good size and comfortable, good to have both a shower and a bath.
The Orangery restaurant was very nice but my sirloin steak was very poor, full of fat and gristle. My wife enjoyed her scampi and both starters were lovely.
The staff were fantastic - so helpful and made our family celebrations extra special.
All meals first class.
Bathroom facilities leave something to be desired. Very difficult to get in & out of the bath while suffering from arthritis . It lacks a handle on the wall just to get in to the bath or shower.
Comfortable, clean room. Staff all very helpful & friendly. Food good
Great location, lovely setting, pleasant staff
Rooms a bit tired
Convenient for my plans
Bath dated. Window dated (not easy to open)
The gardens were lovely 😍
There was no bottled water in the rooms
The room was quite clean as expected, it was very roomy and from that perspective great value. The breakfast was excellent and I like the fact that it started at 7am.
Although it was a warm weekend and was quite pleasant outside late afternoon the room itself was quite hot and the floor fan provided didn't really do the job. Sadly if global warming continues then many UK hotels will close because they will not be able to afford the cost of air conditioning installation.
Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant very pleasant. Buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious; veggie options available on request. Gardens were gorgeous. 10 minute walk into town for bars, restaurants and shops.
Nothing we didn’t like.
Lovely building with a great atmosphere
Could do with air on in the rooms
Staff very pleasant and helpful ..lovely garden to relax in...room vlean and comforysble
Sunday evrning meal too dry obviously reheated got yoo long...almost in edible

Very good and quiet location in Retford, plenty of parking and very friedly staff. Good evening meal. Enjoyed relaxing in the large garden after driving down from the Isle of Mull. Breakfast very good.
Only a minor thing. We see quite often that members of staff start moving tables and chairs in the breakfast room when guests are still eating. We understand that work has to be done, but it would be nicer to have the meal without the noice of moving furniture; or as seen in other hotels start hoovering!
needs updating now
Wish they has air conditioning… but at least they provided a fan ..but rooms quite hot
It was a lovely hotel, the staff were lovely and the rooms were really nice. There was plenty of outdoor space for the children to play.
The meal on the Friday was not very good and the drinks were very expensive
Lovely gardens and great food
Rooms were a nice size, clean & comfortable, could just do with a freshen up regarding painting.
Spacious room, plenty of secure parking , good breakfast and dinner, polite staff.
Bed mattress uncomfortable, annex noisy plumbing from room above (we were ground floor).
All good.
But the claim that the hotel is in so many acres of grounds is a little exaggerated. The gardens that one can access are really lovely, but there are large overgrown sections fenced off. So, although the total area quoted may be technically correct, there is only a more limited area open to the guests. Albeit, those areas that are open are of a reasonable size and very lovely. But not quite the expansive grounds the website claims.
No paper to see what is on old agp do no us scan to find what is on offer in room
The setting was delightful and very handy for our needs.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Exceptionally clean. Lovely grounds.
Everything was lovely
Accessible room as use a stick, good breakfast and good options. Evening meals great. Staff lovely.
Having stayed here many times, the staff are still delightful from front desk to restaurant and housekeeping.
OK. It's time someone repaired the sash windows on the upper floor of the annexe. The windows only stay open if propped up with something like a book for example.
Its location, its spaciousness, its all round cleanliness and the gardens.
Nothing.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, and when I had found the pillows hard, I asked the chamber staff lady, and she very kindly brought me some very comfy pillows for my 2nd night. Likewise, I had been quite cold, and thought that the heating may have been turned off because it was warm weather, but when I mentioned it, the same lady told me how to control the heating, and put it on for me, so I was super comfy the 2nd night. The other thing that I mentioned at the desk, at the time was that, as I was staying in an accessible room, there should have been a lift down rail as well as a grab rail the other side to get on and off the toilet. I had to hold the sink and the loo seat, and with a leg brace that made things a bit tricky. However, the friendliness of the stsff, and willingness to put things right impressed me, and I would certainly stay again, as this outweighed any slight inconvenience. Thanks again.
As above.
Lovely spacious rooms, great hotel, friendly staff and great breakfast selection

Large car park Fantastic staff and really clean
Everything
Bed ,food, was great
No sockets by bed,
Nice food friendly staff
Heat in the room from weather
Beautiful grounds, excellent accommodation. Extremely comfortable. Definitely worth the money.
Unfortunately the heated towel rail could not be switched off so created a bit of a sauna in the bathroom. Probably great in cold weather, not so in 30+ degrees.
Good location for a stop over and secure parking. The Rondo Lounge in town for dinner.
Dated decor and noisy room in „cottages“ (in the night the walls shook every time a lorry passed). There was no dinner as the kitchen was busy with an event and the breakfast options were poor given the cost. The reception staff were not trained very well.
We were there for a wedding and stayed the night after. The service was brilliant from responding to (a perfectly delivering on) our booking requests, to guiding the bridal party and guests throughout the day to serving breakfast the next morning. The food was great throughout and they had an really Interesting range of adult non- alcoholic drinks - which is rare to come across.

Beautiful building and setting with lovely gardens.
Slightly dated and rear windows needed repainting and maintenance
Friendly staff food excellent

A beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Both breakfast and evening meal were of a very high standard.
You entered a code to raise the barrier upon leaving. We did have trouble with this but think it was just down to our age.
Staff were polite and welcoming. Everything was accompanied by a smile. The meal was good and the function arrangements were excellent
They need to learn how to make Baked Alaska. Every other element was excellent.
The room was very comfortable.
The restaurant was poor, slow service and poor food.
The location was good.
Alot of noise early in the morning from other customers going up and down, banding doors, laughing and talking.
All the staff that dealt with us were very courteous and pleasant. The food at both breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good with ample portions. Secure parking was a plus with easy access and egress.
We enjoyed the food.
