Grandhotel Giessbach

The lake and mountain view from the hotel is fantastic.

It is a bit inconvenient for outdoor activities near Jungfrau, but it was a good experience to have stayed here. You are also concerned about getting food. The hotel is the only choice.

Everything, a remarkable experience wish we could have stayed longer. Food excellent, views and walks amazing. The whole place is a dream to behold.

Traumhaftes Haus an ebensolcher Lage mit grandioser Aussicht. Tolles Frühstücksbuffet. Schöne Parkanlage. Eigene Standseilbahn zur Schiffsstation. Kehrli-Terrasse sehr schön, feines Essen am Mittag. Essen im "Elisa" war auch sehr fein, im "Cascades" fühlten wir uns kulinarisch weniger gut abgeholt. Freundliches Personal im ganzen Hotel.

Der Check-in verlief leider nicht ganz perfekt. Da wir zu früh da waren, mussten wir uns noch etwas gedulden, was überhaupt kein Problem war. Unser Gepäck wurde aber nicht gleich unter Verschluss gebracht, es wurde bei der Réception "vergessen" und stehen gelassen. Erst nach wiederholter Erinnerung von uns nach über 60 Min. wurde das dann korrigiert. Auch wurden wir beim Check-in nicht auf das zentrale Mini-Bar-Angebot im 3. Stock hingewiesen.

Fantastic location in a beautiful natural setting surrounded by a stunning waterfall and park on the one side and the lake Interlaken on the other side. The Quality of the Breakfast and Choices, were fine.

Unfortunately, the dinner in the bistro was very disappointing and did not meet the standard we expected from a hotel in this category. Although the breakfast was good, the service provided by a tall blonde member of staff, who spoke with a Polish or Eastern European accent, was unpleasant. Her manner came across as arrogant, dismissive and not particularly helpful. This did not reflect the level of hospitality one would expect from a hotel of this reputation. Another significant problem was the considerable noise from the rooms below ours, facing the inner side of the hotel, on two consecutive nights. We complained and later discovered that these were apparently staff rooms rather than guest rooms. Even during the summer, employees should be expected to keep their windows closed or reduce the noise after 10 p.m. and in the early morning so that hotel guests can rest. Overall, the Grandhotel Giessbach is a beautiful historic property in a spectacular setting. However, considering the very high room rates, guests are entitled to expect a higher and more consistent standard of service, food quality and nighttime tranquillity. Guests should not have to argue for basic courtesy and peace; these should be taken for granted at a hotel of this class and price level

Traumhafte Lage, wunderschöne historische Möbel, sehr feines Essen und sehr freundliches Personal. Das Hotel ist eine wunderschöne Anlage.

Zimmerausstattung ist sehr dürftig. Schade, dass man nicht auf einigermassen schöne Kleidung im Abendrestaurant achtet. Etwas Stil passend zum historisch stilvollen Hotel wäre angebracht statt Shorts und Turnschuhe. Die Tagestouristenströme, die mit der Giessbach Bahn kommen und das Hotel heimsuchen sind schon viel.

Die Lage ist super, die Bedienung sehr zuvorkommend, die Kaffeemaschine im 3. Stock toll für den frühen Kaffee, der Pool war sehr schön, wenn auch wegen der Hitze etwas rutschig.

Die einzigartige, geradezu dramatische Lage des Hotels ist fantastisch - bei schönem wie bei schlechtem Wetter. Die Küche lässt mit einfallsreicher Abwechslung und perfekter Qualität keine Wünsche offen, die Hotelbar ist ideal gelegen und die Cocktails in grosser Auswahl professionell (heute selten!) gemixt. Hunde sind willkommen!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for two nights in a room overlooking the waterfall. The location is truly extraordinary, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The surroundings are magical and were the main reason we enjoyed our stay. The female restaurant staff were very pleasant, polite, and kind. The staff working on the funicular railway were also very friendly and helpful.

However, apart from the exceptional location and scenery, the hotel did not meet our expectations for a four-star property, especially considering the high price. The level of service was very limited, and the facilities and guest services were almost nonexistent. There was no air conditioning, despite the hot weather. Keeping the windows open at night was not a practical solution because the sound of the waterfall was extremely loud. This made the room uncomfortable and gave us the impression that maintenance throughout the building was inadequate. Some members of staff were very kind and welcoming, while others displayed a noticeable lack of courtesy. Our first experience at the restaurant was particularly disappointing. Although we had made a reservation in advance, the waiter assigned us one of the least desirable tables and explained that the better tables were reserved for guests who visit the restaurant repeatedly. This was a very strange and disappointing policy. As hotel guests who had made a reservation, we expected to be treated fairly and offered a suitable table, regardless of whether we were repeat customers. The hotel also did not provide an iron in the room. My husband requested a steamer, which was eventually delivered to our room. At check-out, the receptionist asked him to bring the steamer to the front desk because she believed that he had received it from there. He explained that it had been delivered directly to the room and that he had left it there, which is the normal thing to do. The receptionist then appeared annoyed and had to contact the housekeeping staff to confirm that the steamer was in the room. This kind of conversation should not take place in a four-star hotel and reflects a lack of attention to basic guest-service standards. The receptionist was otherwise helpful and explained that the hotel is owned by a charitable foundation and relies on donations, which is why it does not offer a high level of service.

L'hôtel est magnifique, avec une vue superbe sur le lac. La décoration et l'ambiance donne l'impression de vivre en 1930... On adore ! La piscine est très grande et naturelle. Petit déjeuner parfait et accueil excellent.

Chambre avec vue sur la forêt (arrière de l'hôtel), choix décidé par rapport au prix... Dommage que les bords du lac ne soient pas aménagés pour la baignade... mais cela ne dépend probablement pas de l'hôtel....

Magnifique endroit, vue sur le lac de Brienz, cascade à proximité de l'hôtel, funiculaire charmant pour descendre au lac. Personnel très à l'écoute. Petit déjeuner pantagruelique et excellent. Service à l'ancienne très agréable.

Incredibly beautiful place. Very comfy beds and pillows…wonderful staff for the most part. Great breakfast buffet. Wonderful location. Loved the natural pool and we found a tiny beach to swim from about 10 minutes along the path to Isaltwald. The hotel won’t recommend it because it is rocky but perfectly safe if you are careful and have water shoes. Beautiful hike up to the top of the waterfall takes about an hour and a half with photo stops (wear hiking boots because it’s a steep descent). We walked to Isaltwald where you can hire kayaks and paddle boards - it’s about an hour and half each way but a gorgeous hike with a beach bar to refresh

The daily influx of tourists from the boat can get a bit annoying, but without them it’s unlikely the hotel could sustain itself. We were out most of the day when they are present (from about 10 ish to about 5 ish). It’s a beautiful place so it’s great that lots of people get to enjoy it. If you start your hike up the waterfall between 8 and 9 you’ll likely be mostly on your own on the way up. 8.50ch is too much for water! Please stop charging this at dinner!

Geen airco op de kamer. Wij zaten op de bovenste etage en was er te warm. Daarnaast moest ik om in bed te komen een dakspant en schuine wand ontwijken.

Ein Juwel von Hotel, die Lage, nettes, freundliches Personal, wunderbare Aesthetik. Die ganze Anlage schön eingebettet in wunderbarer Natur. Angenehme Abläufe mit Parkplatz und Seilbähnchen.

Leider war die Dachschräge im Zimmer sehr störend und sogar etwas gefährlich wenn man nachts aufstehen muss für einen Gang ins Bad.

تجربتي في Grandhotel Giessbach كانت للأسف مخيبة للآمال رغم جمال المكان والموقع. حجزت غرفة موضح في الموقع أنها مكيفة، لكن الغرفة كانت بدون مكيف رغم أن الجو كان حارًا. كذلك دفعت مبلغًا إضافيًا مقابل إطلالة، لكن الغرفة التي حصلت عليها كانت بدون إطلالة. كما أن أوقات تسجيل الدخول والخروج (4 مساءً و11 صباحًا) متأخرة ومبكرة جدًا على التوالي. أما المطعم، فهناك مطعمان فقط وخيارات الطعام محدودة. حجزت طاولة مع إطلالة، وعند وصولي كانت هناك طاولة متاحة، لكن الموظف رفض إعطائي إياها بحجة أنه يريد الاحتفاظ بها لضيوف كانوا موجودين في اليوم السابق. لم يتم حل الموضوع إلا بعد تدخل المدير. للأسف، شعرت طوال وجودي في المطعم بأن الموظف كان يراقبنا ويتصيد الأخطاء، مما جعل التجربة غير مريحة. باختصار، المكان جميل جدًا ويستحق الزيارة، لكن يحتاج الفندق إلى موظفين أكثر احترافية وودّية، خصوصًا أن الضيوف يأتون من مختلف أنحاء العالم. كما أتمنى توضيح سياسة منع التدخين في الغرف بشكل واضح، حيث تم تغريمي 250 فرنكًا. أعترف أن الخطأ مني، لكن لم يكن واضحًا لي أن ذلك ممنوع. وفي يوم المغادرة، حصل موقف آخر غير مقبول. في تمام الساعة 11:01 صباحًا، أي بعد دقيقة واحدة فقط من موعد تسجيل الخروج، دخل شخصان من خدمة الغرف إلى غرفتي دون طرق الباب أو التأكد من أن الغرفة خالية، بينما كنت في ذلك الوقت شبه عارٍ. كان من الممكن أن يكون الموقف محرجًا جدًا، وكان دخول الموظفين بهذه الطريقة انتهاكًا واضحًا لخصوصيتي، خصوصًا أنني لم أكن قد غادرت الغرفة بعد. الموقع رائع، لكن مستوى الخدمة والاحترافية لم يكن بالمستوى المتوقع من فندق بهذا المكان Unfortunately, my experience at Grandhotel Giessbach was disappointing despite the beautiful location. I booked a room that was advertised as having air conditioning, but the room had no AC, which was especially uncomfortable during the summer. I also paid extra for a room with a view, but was given a room without one. The check-in time is 4 PM and check-out is 11 AM, which I also found inconvenient. As for the restaurant, there are only two restaurants with limited menu options. I had reserved a table with a view, and there was an available table when I arrived.

La vue sur le lac face au coucher de soleil est exceptionnelle. Très agréable également de pouvoir accéder à un aménagement pour se baigner dans cette eau turquoise !

Absence de room service ou simplement de pouvoir faire un café dans la chambre.

Rien, juste le prix de la chambre un petit peu élevé mais ca reste correct vu le cadre, on avait pris une chambre avec vu sur les chute d’eau et le lac.

The location is historic built on a natural wooded mountain overlooking a wonderful waterfall and overlooking the interlaken lake.

Absolutely incredible property. All the superb amenities. Full of history. View is incredible. Easy access to hiking, boats to lots of small villages.

Belle bâtisse et magnifique vue. Le restaurant « les cascades » sert une nourriture raffinée avec un très bon service attentif.

Décevant et très cher 400.- pour une chambre minuscule vue sur le parking. Aucun sens de l’accueil à la réception. Pas de service dans les salons, les clients doivent faire la queue au bar et emmener leur verre à table ensuite pour l’apéritif. Par ailleurs, j’avais une réservation pour une chambre vue sur cascades, confirmée par téléphone avec le service des réservations, à l’arrivée nous n’avons pas obtenu la chambre réservée. Aucun dédommagement.

The location, experience of being in a natures park, hiking through the park, swim in the lake, the music, breakfast, fenicular ride was beautiful.

Traveling with kids would be wonderful to have a more kid friendly experience, ie. game room (board games). Also a gym with yoga mats.

Highly recommended for a long weekend! Great location with the best views on the lake and nearby waterfalls. Breakfast and dining was superb. Staff is professional and very friendly. Great job 👍

Völlig überteuert für das Gebotene. Keine Klimaanlage im Zimmer.

The ambiance of the building, the views around the hotel, the pool, the walking around the hotel, the breakfast was generally super with a great choice.

The little half-gipfelis were dry and unimpressive. Some of the guests were way too loud, shouting at each other in the gardens and surrounds. Its a little sad that there was not much water in the falls, but then there had been little rain.

Wunderschön gelegenes Hotel, fantastische Aussicht, sowohl auf den Brienzersee, als auch auf die Giessbachfälle. Schönes Frühstückbuffet, erstklassige Küche im hoteleigenen Restaurant "Elisa" (3-Gang Überraschungsmenu in der Halbpension), sehr freundliches und sympathisches Personal im Elisa, aber auch sonst. Ein Naturpool, an dem man wunderbar entspannen kann. Alles sauber und gepflegt. Gratis Tee / Kaffee auf der Etage verfügbar. Ein Pianist!

Eine Minibar / Kühlschrank im Zimmer wäre sehr wünschenswert - wir mussten Medikamente kühl lagern, konnten diese dann aber problemlos an der Rezeption hinterlegen. Gästegruppen, welche im Restaurant laut mit ihren Handys telefonierten oder Filme schauten, fand ich persönlich dem Niveau des Hauses nicht angemessen. Da würde ich mir entsprechende Hinweise wünschen.

Ich wurde zurückversetzt in ein anderes zeitalter, wunderbar! Trotzdem fehlte es an nichts.

Ich könnte nichts nachteiliges erzählen. Wenn man weiss, wie viel arbeit, organisation, überlegungen und flexibilität hinter allem stecken; chapeau.

اعجبني. حسن الاستقبال من قبل موظفي الاستقبال والتواصل معي بالتعليمات حتى وصولنا للفندق ، الموقع خرافي جدا. لطيف وممتع . الفندق عبارة عن قصر او مبنى قديم والاثاث تراثي ومميز يحسسك انك في العصور القديمه ، يوجد جلسات خارجية مقابل الشلال او البحيره. منظر جميل جدا

عدم وجود تكييف، علما بانهم وفروا لنا مروحه عن طلبنا لها ، عدم وجود اشخاص لنقل الشنط الى الغرف ، عدم وجود خدمة غرف للاكل بعد الساعه 10 ليلا

Doskonała lokalizacja, piękne wnętrza , przemiły i zawsze gotowy do pomocy personel. Kawa i herbata oraz jabłka dostępne cała dobę . Urokliwy basen z pomostami i wygodnym fotelami do opalania się, sprzęt do badmintona I gry w kręgle. Dookoła park z wieloma ścieżkami no i wspaniały wodospad. A, I jeszcze można zjechać do jeziora zabytkową kolejką I płynąć stamtąd w kilku kierunkach. Czego chcieć więcej?

Die Lage oberhalb des Brienzersee ist atemberaubend schön und einmalig. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig, es gab sogar Prosecco und alles was das Herz begehrt.

Emplacement incroyable et l'historique de cet hôtel. L'impression de vivre quelques heures dans un autre temps. Très agréable. Les balades autour de cet endroit sont aussi très agréables.

Absolument rien.

cadre idyllique, vue majestueuse et ambiance sereine dans ce bel établissement divinement placé entre le parc et les cascades d'un côté et le lac de Brienz de l'autre, séjour hors du temps grâce à l'architecture Belle-Epoque. De plus, son personnel aux petits soins et le petit déjeuner merveilleux. la chambre était spacieuse et agréable.

l'isolation phonique des chambres (mais qui est propre à ce type d'architecture) pourrait être améliorée et des rideaux voile pourraient être posés pour les chambres à l'arrière du bâtiment pour davantage d'intimité puisqu'un passage à hauteur des fenêtres se trouve là et est à l'occasion emprunté par des clients de l'hôtel ou du personnel.

Wir sind spontan verreist und haben dadurch nur noch das "letzte" Zimmer erhalten, sprich über dem Personalraum mit Beleuchtung die ganze Nacht.
