Balcon del Mar

Spent a week at these apartments, good size, spotlessly clean, well equipped kitchen, air conditioning (20 euro deposit), shower, provided with fresh towels mid week and room clean. Low key, quiet chilled vibe, good sized pools and plenty of sun loungers. Friendly helpful staff on hand when required otherwise left to your own space. Amazing views of the surrounding area. No issues with some occasional noise in background of the odd cockerel and the full resort has cats living life in the Canarian sun. We regularly walked down to Amadores beach, 20 mins, along lovely path spotting local wildlife, birds, geckos, cacti. Amadores has nice facilities and bars, restaurants and you can follow cliff side walk round to Puerto Rico beach - 7 euro for taxi back up for those that want to avoid the steps/path from beach to hotel, but enjoyable walk if your fit. Short walk to the Europa Centre from hotel with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from - enjoyed entertainment in Barbacoa. Kids loved Angry Birds, adults boat trip to Port Morgan.

Location brilliant next to Europa staff friendly two big pools

Just spent 8 nights here. Hotel is dated, and could do with a refurb. However, there is a lot to like. Friendly staff, location, claanliness, spaceous appt and everything functional. However, a few small things sort of disappointed us. First, no BBC or ITV channels, (We used youtube to get some Enlish channels, GB News and some music channels). There are cokerels right outside the appt to wake you up, and the maids trolley going past your room quite early sounds like a train passing!! Finally, we chose self catering to divide our meals between eating out, and making our own basic meals (we took a few packets of sauces, curry, chilli c.c etc) and the basic self catering items not available was noticeable. Cheese grater, potato masher, measuring (microwaveable, pyrex?) jug, salt and pepper pots? Also, the microwave was on a shelf so high, we had to stand on a chair to keep an eye on whatever is in it!! We did manage though, and would definitely recommend the hotel, but would like to see these few issues addressed.

Siisti tilava huoneisto, josta löytyi kaikki tarvittava. Henkilökunta oli ystävällistä ja koko hotellialue siisti. Allasbaarista sai hyvät snackit, sen tarjonta oli positiivinen yllätys. Hotelilla oma minimarket, josta saa mm. vedet, leipää jne. 500m kävelymatka vanhaan Europe ostoskeskukseen, josta löytyy isompi marketti. Maisemat todella upeat!

Kävellen ei oikein voi liikkua ainakaan takaisin hotelille keskustasta tai rannalta, sillä matka on jyrkkää ja pitkää ylämäkeä sillä hotelli on korkealla. Hotellin respa tosin soittaa taksin aina ja taksi on edullinen; 5-7e rannalle tai ostoskekuksiin Puerto Ricon keskustaan.

I stayed here with friends last week Absolutely perfect Well equipped apartments Extremely clean Nice comfy clean beds Big balcony The pool is great And the onsite bar /cafe was really nice. The breakfasts are lovely The onsite staff are very approachable and if you have a blip soon sort it out . The apartment are right at the top of gran canaria but the views are amazing and there's a Europa shopping centre 5 minutes away with good well priced restaurant Try Amadeus €14.95 for a three courses . Don't worry about getting about the taxis are cheap and lots of them We shall most definitely be returning if only to see the cheeky roosters who live on the side of the hill 😃great fun ...

Such a shame to give a bad review as stayed in 2009 and that was much different. We stayed here for 9 nights. Cleaners only changed towels twice. Despite them being soaked as the shower leaked. So had to keep towels on the floor. Towels were very old with holes and bleach stains. We asked reception for new towels and they said no!!! Sheets was not changed once!!! Beds were like ironing boards, Very noisy all through the night. Very little sleep any night. Also charged 3.50 euros a day to park our rented car!

Lovely hotel, received a really friendly welcome. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. Hotel is nice, didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on this. If you're looking for a clean, friendly place to stay would recommend Balcon Del Mar, really good value for money

My friend and I spent six nights here in November. We had a two bedroom apartment and found it to be very clean. Everything we needed was in the apartment, apart from one thing.... Sunbeds! The terrace is huge and could accomodate them easily. it is just our preference when on holiday. Otherwise it was a lovely place with friendly staff. Oh and our entertainment was watching all the cats with their kittens.

The place was clean and friendly but no bar after 8pm, no restaurant and no entertainment. Room cleaned every 3 days but don't make beds, was there for 11 days and had to ask for bed linen to be changed on the 9th day

This was our first time self catering, so it's hard to compare to other self catering hotels. The 2 bed apartment was fine, 2 x twin rooms with a single sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen was basic, fridge with a small freezer drawer, 2 hobs, toaster and kettle. The noise from above us and beside us was loud, very inconsiderate families above and in the room next door, crashing around, shouting and what sounded like rearranging all the furniture. I did ask to be in a quiet location and I don't really feel this was noted, as we were near the pool bar (which wasn't really an issue an wasn't loud), but there was quieter locations, like we could have been top floor and would have avoided the noise from above. The pool bar was OK, although I waited to be served for 15 mins, when I was the only person waiting, the barman cooked 4 lunches and served them, before serving me 2 drinks. This was a bit unnecessary in my opinion. Price wise, beer €3 pint, cider €4.5, coke etc €2.50 (better to get these from the shop). The shop onsite was OK but nothing was priced. We only got cans of drink (1€ each) and icecreams (2.5/3.5€ each). 2 pools (states 4, but 2 are tiny padding style pools, so really only 2 pools). 1 slightly heated. Sun loungers are not directly next to the pool, they are across the other side on astro turf. Europa Centre is 5 min walk, plenty of restaurants, shops and 2 hippo dino supermarkets. Small kids soft play/trampolines and entertainment, also sports bars showing the footy. 2 x beaches nearby, 1 puerto rico, 40 min down loads of steps, watersports and marina, and 1 Amadores, this is much nicer, few restaurants and shops, peddle boats (€15 per hr) and a inflatable obstacle water float. Taxi back from either about €6. There are taxi ranks at either. The commercial centre is near puerto rico beach and that's got lots more restaurants, shops, larger supermarket, McDonald's etc, Morgan Mall (water fountain outside). Overall it is much more peaceful during the day than an all inclusive hotel, no racing for sunbeds, not the loud drunks by lunchtime or the school canteen style meals. No entertainment, but we knew this, could do with a sports pitch/somewhere for the kids to kick a ball around etc. Views are lovely all around the hotel and its very clean.

Location to the Europa centre, plenty of storage for clothes. No sunbed wars. The food around the pool bar is lovely. The two regular staff who wear blue at the pool bar were great, and so are the cocktails.

There could be a little more shelf space in the bathroom, but it's not a major issue

Excellent staff, excellent apartments, complex is clean, no rushing for sun beds, plenty to go round.Overall everything is excellent would recommend Balcon del Mar to anyone who wants a holiday in Gran Canaria.

Family of 5, stayed end of August. Couldn't fault our accommodation, staff were amazing v helpful, friendly and went above & beyond for us accommodating any requests. Our rooms were v clean, & comfortable...air conditioning fantastic & needed. Pool was clean & never v v busy, loads of loungers with umbrellas. Cleaned daily which was fantastic. Location is on top of mountain, stunning views from the accommodation but also when you walked across the road, view is amazing. You can walk safely 5mins to restaurants/bars & shops but would need taxi (5mins) to go to the beach or restaurant strip below (long walk with lots of steps!!) Taxis are v cheap tho and they too are v friendly.

Can't fault it really, felt v safe there...code to get into the accommodation. Our view from our balcony was amazing 😊

El apartamento comodo y limpio, buen servicio de administracion y mantenimiento, buena conexión wifi, piscina bien atendida.

El check-out a las 10:00 sin posibilidad de permanecer en la piscina durante el dia tras abandonar el apartamento. Es obligatorio pagar un adicional.

Las instalaciones perfectas. El personal muy amable.

To be honest I cannot really fault the hotel, the location, food, cleanliness, size of apartment was all good. The only reason I have scored it as I have is because of a thief. The only thing that I despise is a thief.. my wife had her Swarovski necklace stolen out of the bedside drawer, on the day the cleaner had been in obviously I should of used the safe & couldn’t prove she took it but it was there when we left in the morning.. Lesson learnt.

We booked this hotel last minute for the 6 weeks holiday. We visited end of August. We were initially a little anxious but do not be. What a beautifully clean and well organised self catering accommodation. The room easily accommodated myself, partner and two child. With two single beds and a double. The double room had a door for privacy. Plenty of wardrobe space especially in the double room. Not so much in the other spaces but can easily make do. Huge balcony and great for relaxing and catching the last rays of sunshine on an evening. Really well situated near the Europa Shops, lots of restaurants. If you want something slightly nicer head into town for €5/€6 each way. Good night life and if you like sports plenty of bars to get the football games on. The pool bar is ok, good for kids and a reasonable price. Happy hour for drinks 16:00-22:00. Personally the breakfast at Mambos is better. The supermarkets are all close by and good prices. Overall great place to stay with kids and would recommend. The room had: • Microwave • Kettle • Towels • Linen • Dish clothes • Washing up liquid • Bin liners • Toilet rolls (plenty) • Airer to dry clothes • Wine glasses There isn’t a hairdryer or any toiletries. Tax is 3€ per room. Air Con 20€ refundable on leaving. You can keep the room (if availability) until 6pm for €45.

Si vas con niños pequeños no se puede cerrar la puerta por dentro para seguridad, tuvimos que bloquear la puerta por las noches con una mesa.

Great apartments with spacious interiors and a huge west-facing balcony. Well equipped and kept very clean. The pool area was often busy, but we could always find a lounger. Location is convenient for the Europa Centre (about 10 minutes’ walk) with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Be aware that the walk to Puerto Rico centre really is a challenge — it’s mostly downhill and takes around 40 minutes with no real shortcuts. Get a taxi back up the hill is really steep. It's about 7-8 euros. We hired a car. We were mostly able to park for free near the apartments some days we had to park a lot further away. They do have parking spaces but they charge 3.50e a day to use them. They were mostly empty. Be prepared to be woken up at 6am by a rooster and random chickens and cats that live in rough ground behind the building. This did get quite frustrating although my kids did love watching all the kittens. The only real disappointment was our final day. Our pickup wasn’t until 8pm and when we asked for a late checkout, we were told the room was booked out. We requested to keep it as long as possible and were advised we might be able to stay until 11am. However, at 10:15am reception called insisting we vacate immediately as “cleaning staff were waiting.” This forced us to pack in a rush, only to see that our room wasn’t cleaned until after 2pm — making the early push to leave feel very unnecessary, especially as we were travelling with a family. We then spent the rest of the day going in and out of the luggage room. There is a courtesy shower available, but unfortunately it’s very small, enclosed with a metal door, and faces the sun directly, making it feel extremely uncomfortable. Aside from this, we were happy with the accommodation overall. The staff were generally friendly and helpful whenever we dealt with them, and the rooms were always cleaned to a good standard, though the cleaning schedule is a little irregular and could be made clearer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend these apartments — just be prepared for the final-day arrangements.

Just got back from Balcon Del Mar after a 7 night stay with wife and 2 teenagers. Booked with Jet2. First time ever to Gran Canaria for us, have to say the apartment is spacious, quite clean, with A/C (20€ deposit for the remote control) 2 swimming pools, beautiful view, ideal for families looking for relax, peace and quiet. It’s at the top of a mountain, like most the hotels/apartments/Airbnb in the area, so if you are planning to go to the beach, (playa des Andres is beautiful) I’d strongly suggest you to get a taxi (6€ per way) unless you are brave enough to walk under the boiling hot sun! We ended up renting a car with the hotel, 4 days €165, reasonably priced without all the fuss of excess fees, deposit, etc.. you pay and drive, brilliant. That gave us the opportunity to explore the island and drive to and back to supermarkets, etc.. you can drive to the opposite side of the island in less than 1.5 hours so if you like exploring, it’s definitely worth the trip. nice restaurants by the beach too, perfect for a quick lunch or a fancy dinner with Lobster, Paellas or any fresh dish you like. Definitely recommend the hotel and Puerto Rico, we made good memories and we hope to get back there soon!

Just returned from a weeks holiday with family. Very clean and spacious rooms. Pool area nice but found no atmosphere and got tortured by the local stray cat. Our room was 108 and our view was numerous stray cats and the local cockrael. which in turn didn't smell nice . Another downside is having to leave the room at 10 Am on checkout day which i thought was extremely early when most other hotels are 12 . Our pickup wasn't until 6 pm Hotel was ok have stayed in nicer 3 star hotels in puerto rico amd i wouldn't recommend here. Beds also extremely uncomfortable

La piscina es bastante profunda por lo que para personas un poco más mayores o que no sepan nadar se complica, mejoraría el sistema de apertura de puertas y renovación de la ropa de cama no vendría mal.

I almost don't want to big this hotel up too much, as it's a hidden gem. But they deserve it. We're a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teenagers that stayed in August 2025. Rooms were great, really spacious, air conditioning was 10 out of 10, with cleaning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. No issues with cleanliness at all. Staff were great. Reception was always happy and helpful, we had a few minor issues with the door lock, squeaky doors and little stuff like that, but the maintenance team was there within minutes to fix. Pools were nice. On the small side, but the hotel isn't busy so they were probably perfect for the hotel. The staff at the pool were excellent too. They made great food and drinks, without ever not once seeing them smile and make everyone feel happy. It was a real mix of nationalities during our stay, with UK, Irish, Spanish, German and Scandinavian countries all in the hotel. The hotel feels really secure with pin numbers for room locks and to even get into the hotel, and it's super quiet at night time, which was great for sleeping. The only way this hotel could be improved for me is for there to be some entertainment going on throughout the day. Also for perhaps there to be a singer/entertainment on and the pool bar open a bit later. If you want to go to a bar after 9pm then you have to go out of the hotel (Europa centre is only 5 minutes away). But that's really just a personal preference for me. The hotel is excellent though. Would definitely stop here again.

Loved our 10 day stay at the Balcon Del Mar. My wife and I have been to Puerto Rico around 10 times over the course of the last 20 odd years and this hotel is one of the cleanest we have stayed in. On arrival ( 11pm ) we were greeted by friendly staff , easily found our room and thought the surroundings were lovely. Spacious room and spotless. Quiet surroundings with early morning call from the local Cockrel ! We had great weather too. Bar staff were friendly and pool bar provided decent food to be fair. The only downside to our stay was that we couldnt keep our room on after 10am vacate on departure day, forcing us to sit around pool for a few extra hours till 6pm before being collected. Other than that we couldnt fault the place. We would definitely come back here and recommend to others.

Just returned a few days ago from Balcon del mar a lovely, friendly , chilled stay.Our experience was above our expectations a little anxious as we was traveling with a child with additional needs however the facilities and atmosphere was just what we needed.The sunbathing area was set back from the pool taking away any worries for parents,a pool side bar with drinks and snacks was available and reasonably priced,our apartment was very spacious, clean, great size balcony, and secure.we had the best time and would recommend to anyone.This was our first time staying at Balcon del mar and was not disappointed Thank you to everyone for enabling us to have some great memories see you next year .

Good size apartments on the hill between Puerto Rico and Amadores. Lovely quieter location, with no noise from Europa or commercial centre. Previously we have stayed at servatur sunsuites/terramazar. These apartments are slightly bigger and also have a huge balcony. Balcon del mar was £500 cheaper for a weeks holiday than the servatur and personally I would rate it better. Aircon is free , just pay a deposit for the remote. WiFi is superb throughout the complex. We have had no issue streaming and downloading films. Pools are a decent enough size and the pool bar is good value on food and drink. Europa centre 5 mins walk. Beaches at amadores and Puerto Rico 25 mins walk or €6 euros in a taxi. Anfi del mar €11 euros in a taxi. House keeping isn’t every day but you know that when you arrive and you get what you pay for. Mops and cleaning items are available in the room. Staff have all been brilliant, really friendly and happy to help. Still got a few more days here but for a budget friendly break you can’t go wrong. Got an evening flight back so hoping to book a late check out but if not they have a room available to shower etc. We will def come back here again.

We have been here 5 nights and this review would have been 5 star- had we not got to today (the 5th day) and still had no cleaning of the apartment whatsoever. I had to ask to change the towels after 4 days yesterday and was told they already had changed them. They hadn't, my sons been in the apartment being sick for 2 days, I think I'd know and I have a pile of dirty towels sat in the corner of the bathroom. Having to make the beds and change the bins and sweep the floor ourselves whilst on holiday is absolutely wild. You usually get housekeeping daily. Big spacious apartments, but thats about it. Wouldn't return.

Was a last minute holiday after a few issues where shall we start well there was 7 of us traveling 2 of our party had mobility issues so was a bit worried when we got here but as soon as we were greeted by the hotel staff we knew we would be ok the staff couldn't do enough for you so helpful the rooms were very spacious and clean and the balcony was huge we had breakfast at the pool bar nearly every day and the lady who served us and cooked the breakfast was amazing so friendly and warming the food was really good no fault there the pool was lovely and clean all in all a very nice hotel would definitely stay here again if we come back to gran canaria well done all the staff

The staff was really friendly and helpful. We asked for recommendations such as beach, restaurants and they gave us very detailed ideas. The apartment was amazing and had everything we needed and the view is really breathtaking. We would definitely go back anytime. With the price we booked we were amazed and it exceeded our expectations. We went there with a baby and toddler and they provided all equipment like highchair and cotbed so really made our stay comfortable as much as they could.

Stayed for a week during the May school holidays. Pleasantly surprised at how spacious and clean apartments are. Everything you need. Only issue we had was the occasional cockroach that would visit the room. Mentioned it to the helpful reception staff who dealt with it swiftly and we saw no more. Pool area nice with plenty of sun loungers. Drinks at the pool bar are reasonably priced. Very close to Europa centre which we visited often. A nice 5 min stroll along the road. Taxi varied in price between €5-€8 down to the centre depending which way the driver went. The views are beautiful over the hills. I would definately stay again for a relaxing, reasonably priced get away.

A really relaxing and friendly hotel, superb pools, great views. For some Easter sun we were very impressed. Clean and well organised. Downsides are the location, right at the very top of the hill and the two larger pools were very deep. Walked down to the beach most days and got a taxi back, only 6 euro. Very near eurocentre, superb for football but restaurants a bit dated and hit and miss. The Chinese buffet and the Indian probably the best, all the others a bit samey and overpriced. Top cheap Easter break.

Had an amazing stay at Balcon del mar, the apartments are huge with everything you need and the balcony is also huge. There is barely any noise during the night so we were able to get good sleep. The pools are clean and one is heated, there is plenty of sun loungers and very clean toilets and shower rooms. The views from the top are breathtaking! One of the best sunsets i have ever seen. The snack bar is good, we ate a couple of times there and the food is very nice, the staff are also very friendly. The receptionists are also very friendly and helpful. There is a few routes to the beach which take around 30mins to walk, we just got taxis back and was only 5 euros. There is also the Europa centre close to the hotel which has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would return back. If you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet place to stay that has stunning views then i recommend this place.

Fint opphold for familen. Rolig og trygg plass hvor ungene kunne løpe fritt, vi kunne se dem fra terrassen. Eneste var at vannet i begge bassengene var litt kaldt og at en ikke får morra sola på terrassen. Ellers bra plass i nærheten av shoppingsenter, med dagligvarer og restauranter

Wow a day before we came on holiday was told change of accommodation should have been sol y paz. Balcon De Mar was a very pleasant surprise. Beautiful clean spacious, amazing view, staff so helpful and pleasant. Would recommend here to all. Yes a little further to walk to pubs and restaurants but a lovely walk checking out the view at night.

Close to centre, walkable to everything

We travel on the 4th February 2025 were sented here 9 and a half hrs before we went on holiday as we were meant to stay in Sol Y Paz just up the street as we have stayed here a few times on the pass also have stay the Collina Mar across the road but when we were sent to Balcon Del Mar we had or doubts but I'm glad we did go here as it was fantastic place to stay reception staff were amazing as were all the cleaners and bar staff nothing was to much trouble we had 3 appartments as we were a family if 6 and place is spotless and bed were so confy cleaners come in about 3 times a week and your front door is electric key pad to enter as is front gates to appartments we all will be booking here again as we can't fault this place well done Belcon Del Mar

Lovely view, big balcony, clean rooms and area. Quiet location, shopping center nearby. Nice pool area, minimarket and pool bar had excellent food. Acees by key code was very handy. Only negative issue was the balcony smoking from orhers.

Absolutely amazing we got moved here and I have easy we would go back there in a heartbeat. We had a two bedroom apartment in room 419 looking over the pool. Everything was spotless the staff were amazing. It's only less than 10 mins walk to the Europa centre and that was taking my time and enjoying the views. They have a shop and bar/ restaurant plus two large pools plus a baby pool. The views and the sunset are amazing. We will definitely be returning.10 out of ten from us.

Hotel was roomy and very clean. Bar food was excellent too. Staff very friendly also.

Location was OK. Hotel is located about 1km from beach. Very steep hilly walk. Taxis available but sometimes you have to wait quite a while for a taxi.

Lovely place. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Apartment was lovely and clean. Nice size balcony (cloudy when we were there) sunbeds would be good on bolcony We even booked for a massage to our room which was amazing. Also let us book out at 11am Definitely recommend.
