The Royal Clarence Hotel (on the Seafront)

Very useful having access to a fridge and microwave. Milk, tea, coffee & toilet roll all available to help yourself, a great system.

The bed had a frame that stuck out making it awkward to get out of the bed.

We only had accomadation which was perfect for our short visit. Just did sight seeing around the area. Cheddar Gorge. Wells Cathedral etc. we did not have a view from our room but that did not matter as we were out all day

In room no 9 have no chair for me to watch TV it is very poor design which i had to sit on edge end of the bed which i cannot find relax to lay down on my back because of the wall on the left side of wall and the bed was not in the front o f tv this room is need to be redesign and remove one bed out of the room and put the chair it would be ideal think about this

Nick made us feel very welcome from the start! Good conversation with a great sense of humour!! Showed us where to find all local amenities. The hotel is directly on the seafront, so I enjoyed my first morning cuppa watching the tide roll in!

Location and on site parking was great. Hotel felt secure and staff were helpful too.

The space in the room was enough for a solo traveller and convent as close to where I needed to be

So many stairs not suitable for guests with mobility issues

in our basic twin bed room we had comfy beds, big shower cubicle, proper kettle, tea bags available when you run out, use of a fridge, use of a microwave. the room was clean and the bedding is cotton.

Corridor in front of the room. No privacy had to keep the curtains closed. Bed not very comfortable.

The owner was very pleasant and accommodating he even sorted us out a parking space, explained everything in detail and was really helpful

Room was really basic and people walking past the window to your room, sea view was threw the bedroom window across a hallway and then threw another window, lots of rules about toilet flushing etc, and needed a bit more of a personal touch as the soap dispenser is like a public toilet one

No food available. Instead there was a communal microwave and fridge. Toilet did not flush adequately Limited storage facilities I was asked what time I would arrive three times. I had to give my car reg three times (twice by an on-line form and once on arrival).

The 'pre-reception I received from Nick on the telephone, prior to my stay!! He was absolutely hilarious, so I knew that I'd be in for a great experience!! The hotel is right on the beachfront, & I had no trouble parking in front of it. The hotel stands out as it's really quirky. Nick shared some really interesting historical facts about it, which I enjoyed learning about. The bedroom had an unusual layout, which I loved. The first thing upon entering was how clean & bright it was. I loved everything about my stay here, & look forwarding to doing so again!!

Having to run the shower for several minutes to attain hot enough water, as I hate wasting it, but I can't tolerate tepid showers!!

Near to all shops, restaurants and Pier. Great views of sea and waterfront. Staff are super helpful and give maps to all local area.

Parking is tricky, however staff really informative and gave up a space for us.

Stayed here two nights for our wedding anniversary. What a fantastic find this place was. The owners are lovely and friendly, really helpful with places to eat and drink. This hotel is right on the seafront and has free parking, although this is limited, you can park on the prom which is pay and display. Lots of restaurants, pubs, takeaway and amusements, all within walking distance. The room was spotless, bed comfortable, fab shower, lovely white towels, hairdryer, tea and coffee, even a fan was provided which was a god send with the heatwave. We will definitely be back, Bev & Paul

we stayed last weekend at this lovely hotel.. rooms were very clean and bedding and towels were spotless. The owners were a delight really friendly and pointed out places to go and eat... we will be definitely going back again as it was perfect for us. Thankyou all for making our stay very welcoming, we are looking forward to our return visit.

Clean simple near to the beach

No air con or fridge

The room was clean and adequate for an overnight stay. The hostel is on the sea front and our room looked out over the beach. It was close to local cafes and bars.

The bed was more like a three quarter and we found the mattress uncomfortable. The Esplanade road outside was a rat run for boy racers in cars and motor bikes. The choice was either close the window and sweat or open it and get no sleep. On arrival the owner receptionist was rude and confrontational. He abruptly read a list of instructions to us and asked if I had parked between the white lines. I replied 'I'm not sure. I will check,' He seemed to have misheard my reply and took offence at this and when my wife commented began to confront her. We felt as though we were being inducted into a prison. We tried to leave the following day without comment but as I left the owner asked what I thought of the room. I replied 'It was alright' intending to depart quickly, but he persued the comment, I told him I felt the room to be overpriced and became aggressive, We tried to leave but he followed us to the car park, got close to my face and shouted personal insults at me and my wife. At one point we were in genuine fear for our safety. I asked him if he intended to hit me. We did eventiually leave but were deeply upset by the experience.

Apartment was lovely and clean. It was right on the seafront which was lovely although be aware the apartment itself doesn't have a sea view. Also the entrance is so inconspicuous you would never know it was there which I loved

Parking is very tight, we got a space whi h was great but I think there is plenty of parking on esplanade

We had a lovely 2 night stay. Room with a sea view was ideal. We liked the thoughtful additions of crockery, cutlery, fridge and microwave for a room only hotel. Friendly staff at check in. Great location for walking into town. Car parking was good. If there was to be one negative the stairs are a bit narrow and steep. Overall a great stay and we will be back.

It's right on the seafront, decent parking, high street is one street back with plenty of café/restaurants. Tea/coffee available in room, good hairdryer, shower works a treat. Bus stops up and down seafront, train station is a 10 minute drive.

Great location by the beach, great space in the room. If you are a parent with a baby I wouldn’t recommend staying here as there is no lift and very tight to get up and down. our room was 30 degrees even though outside was 17 degrees and the room did not cool down and stayed around 25-27 degrees even with the window open. I understand the building is old and can be hot however this was ridiculous with no air con and this would make me not stay here again. The bed was also like concrete and did not have a good sleep. The staff were nice however. They had a microwave and also access to a fridge so great facilities.

This was a well managed professional establishment, no frills but a superb room very comfortable and quiet. Perfect people like me, working and needing comfort and privacy. My next visit to the area I will check out the Clarence Hotel

Es gab kostenlose Parkplätze vor der Tür und zum Einchecken tatsächlich auch ein Mensch der uns die Zimmerkarte gegeben hat. Von außen sah das Hotel nach nicht viel aus aber das Zimmer war nagelneu renoviert, ebenfalls das Bad. Wir hatten einen L-förmiges Zimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten, tee-station und eine sehr große begehbare Dusche. Der Strand ist gerade über die Straße und um die Ecke sind reichlich Restaurants und Kneipen in Laufnähe

Lovely view of the seafront, bed was comfortable and the room temperature was just right. Handy to have a fridge downstairs for milk for my breakfast. Host was friendly and welcoming.

The constant “please shut this door” message every time you go in was annoying, especially as there were also about 3 signs saying the same. Stairs up to the rooms are quite narrow and steep.

It was central, clean and owners were friendly.

So many steps - from the first door, no good for anybody with mobility challenges. No warnings - just stairs - not customer friendly!

The room was very clean, spacious and had lovely decor. The location of the room was perfect as we had a little communal seating area where we could watch the sunset. The staff were very friendly and welcoming The location of the hotel is great with wonderful views and very close to the beach.

Perfect location on the front right near the pier. Lovely hosts, private parking. Nice quirky room and there is a seated viewing area for rooms 9 and 10 overlooking the sea. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and the guide given by the host is excellent.

Stayed here for work . Rooms are very clean and warm. Parking out front and hotel is in the centre of town ... Pubs and restaurants in 5 mins walk. Location was perfect. Hosts very helpful.

My brother booked us in here, the guy that was checking him in turned up, afyer being stood waiting for ten minutes he was what appeared to be high. He stunk of cannabis, and upon my non smoking brother questioning this, the guy refused them to stay and accused them of being the reason for the smell. He then refused to refund them so they could book another hotel and sent them packing. This is by far the worst show of customer service i have ever heard of where my family is concerned. The guys attitude was terrible, swearing and shouting after simply being asked about the smell from himself. This may not have affected the hotel materially but one member of a team can bring the whole thing down. And that man, will end up doing so.
