Lovely stay: welcoming staff, great location and great complimentary breakfast
Pillows very firm
The village surroundings
Accommodation very dirty shower disgusting mould room not very clean
Lovely building, cottage was lovely, very clean & comfortable.
Room was very comfortable and breakfast was good. I could invite some guests for breakfast and also was able to check out late which made it easier for the event I was going to.
The staff was very friendly, the breakfast options were phenomenal and the location was great. Easy access to parking spaces and very close to all the shops.
The room was not as well-maintained as I would have thought from the pictures but it was clean and quiet. We also loved the freestanding bathtub.
Very traditional and a perfect location.
Our room had a very uneven floor which could do with renewing.
It was a great location for our stay in the Cotswolds visiting clarksons farm diddly squat and the farmers dog. Room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was amazing. Staff were really nice and helpful. Also free parking on the street!
Rooms could do with a little update no plug sockets near the bed. Shower wasn’t the best but was ok
Nice location. Stsff very friendly. Breakfast excellent
Beds a bit uncomfortable.
Beautiful property Great location
No Soap, Body wash, hand wash
Excellent location.
Very hard bed and hard pillows
Didn’t have breakfast - left early before breakfast was served
We booked some while ago 78 & 79 year olds We had the attic room which was up two flights of stairs with the second flight being steep. My wife would not have managed without my assistance. The bed frame not great and a big step up to the bathroom meant we had to leave a light on all night. Before allocating this room the hotel needs to communicate with its guests
Lovely quaint building. Local to the shops and restaurants. Free parking on one side of the road. Lovely place. Free toiletries.
Yes really nice
Location is perfect
Lack of attention to detail and cleanliness
the breakfast was absolutely delicious — probably the tastiest breakfast we had during our trip.
We booked two double rooms and sadly, the attic room clearly needed a good clean, with dust, cobwebs and even a spider in the room. But the real low point was the service. The blonde member of staff who checked us in was later behind the bar telling us that the owner was “a wanker”, which was incredibly unprofessional and not something guests should have to listen to. Both she and the dark-haired member of staff appeared to be under the influence while working, which made the whole experience even more uncomfortable.
Staff were great, beautiful building and great location
Bra frukost. Trevlig personal.
Småkryp överallt i rummet.
It was a sweet hotel and the staff were friendly on arrival. Such a shame that we were locked out and couldn’t get through to anyone
We were locked out of the hotel after returning from a wedding and unfortunately we couldn’t get through to anyone on the emergency contact number for them. We have contacted the hotel about this but we have not received a response.
Staff friendly, breakfast good.
Did not appear clean and cooking smell from kitchen. The hotel could do with a refurb.
Great location in the village, good size room. Pleasant staff.
Parking is a nightmare. On balance its really a place thsts fine for 2 nights but no more. 3 star really but good value as other Burford places are upto double the cost.
The room was very spacious and comfortable , and the stay is in a great location. The room was a little tired in places and the water pressure wasn’t great but that is to be expected with an old building
Tolle Auswahl beim Frühstück, sehr rustikales aber sauberes Zimmer, nettes Personal, tolles Pub
Good breakfast
Overall. The hotel requires upgradingneeds. It is very tired looking
Lovely setting, easy to park. Lovely bath Lots of stairs, shower room as well as bath would be welcome
Bathroom Bed size
Location - its on the high street and overlooking everything
Read through the reviews! The overall rating gives the impression this will be a good hotel and good experience. Its quite the opposite. First and foremost, its a 5 star rated hotel at premium prices. I can assure you this is nothing more than 3 star and is run down requiring a refurb. Even the employees agree. Our room at the back was bad. Water damage, radiator hanging off, hairs in the bath and the bath drain smelt. Oh - and multiple stains and rips on the bedding. Not even hand wash. The worst part however, was the owner - Andy. Every complaint is an opportunity to not only fix an issue but make the experience even better. Andy did not care about our issues, bearing in mind we were respect and humble and just wanted either a room change or a room clean with a discount given it isn't 5 star. He had a bad attitude and actually smirked/laughed. Andy refused to assist and didn't even want to look at the room but eventually and reluctantly did where he then minimised everything. His only solution was to leave and seek a full refund, so at like 9PM we had to drive home. It then took 3 weeks to get this refund after constantly having to chase it up. Dont say I didnt warn you.
Very convenient
A little noisy from the traffic
Nice traditional hotel with good bar facilities with good beer and a decent breakfast.
Steep stairs up to top floor room. Very noisy main road with windows open.
Location was fantastic smack in the middle of the high street. Staff were really helpful and polite Breakfast was good and lots of it.
There is no parking at the hotel and had to park 200m away on a side street. Low headroom in our room due to old beams. Had to duck when walking around the room and when entering the bathroom, which had a tiny little door.( I am 6 foot 4 though and perhaps should have expected this due to the age of the building). Bathroom was large but bath was heavily stained and several floor tiles broken. Stairway leading to our room was quite steep which may cause issues for some people.Tea and coffee facilities available but no plug, local to the kettle? Also no fridge.Advertised as a 5 star accommodation but felt more like a 3 to 4 star.
Fab location. Full of olde world charm. Bath was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Food was great.
Extremely warm (no A/c so had to keep window open and the noise from the road kept us awake all night long. Lots of farm vehicles seem to use this route after hours.
We had a lovely room and there’s a courtyard out the back to sit outside for a drink. Breakfast was good. Friendly and efficient welcome.
Not the hotels fault but we were over the main high street and just a bit noisy with traffic.
Great breakfast and hospitality
Bed uncomfortable
Big room, and large bathroom. All very clean. Breakfast was great.
A bigger fan due to exception weather.
Friendly staff, great location, lovely room, excellent breakfast
Comfortable bed and room
The shower didn’t work
Room was fabulous large fourposter bed, location ideal . Food really good.
Service was a little hit and miss, the bill and card machine were bought to the table befor we were offered a desert. Parking was a problem as you could only stay on the public carpark for 3 hours, so had to try and find a space on a side street.
Location
Rooms were dated / dusty Whisky an old building, could be updated / maintained better with furnishings and cleanliness.
The bed was comfy, the room was clean and pleasant. The location was great and the breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly and efficient
The shower was dated and I would have preferred a bath.
Lovely room, comfortable bed. Very helpful & efficient staff. Great hotel.
N/A
Burford House was in a good location, parking just across the road or down the side street next door. The room was good, comfortable bed and clean. Breakfast was very nice, good selection.
The breakfast was outstanding not a single complaint. Our waiter sorry didn’t get your name was lovely looked after everyone
We had a hair clip on our bath plug instead of a chain so it was difficult to remove the plug, room was lovely and big, loved the bathroom, probably over priced but I think that’s because of the location
Dinner was lovely as value for money as was breakfast. Main day time staff were very friendly.
No one informed us that there were road works in operation straight across the road and the room was not listed as being on the main high street with traffic ! Bath room showers needs major attention.
A perfect location in the lovely town of Burford! Rooms are spot on, drinks are great, and whilst we didn’t have an opportunity to eat, everything we saw other guests eating looked delicious. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, and the garden is peaceful and charming. Hoping to return again in the future for a longer stay!
Only negative we had was there was no air conditioning and we could not sleep! Our stay was during your UK heat wave.
The above
This property is over 400 years old so the history of the place is amazing. It is in a perfect location with free on road parking
The smell of greasy food hits you when you walk into the building and it really does need a good clean in all areas
Great location, large room, and friendly staff.
There is nothing I don’t like.
Location was perfect and cottage was beautiful with everything we needed.
Bathroom was a bit tired and poorest room. Bath needs replacing and shower was poor. Was very expensive in our opinion
Lovely friendly greeting from Lucy, great room, excellent beer garden and super breakfast. Very good atmosphere, created by all the smiling people who work here, thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you
Quite warm in the room but there was a very good large fan provided
Everything!
Nothing
Food was fantastic
Shower was tired, carpets old
Friendly attentive bar staff. Lovely courtyard garden. Great location and Burford is a lovely town with shops, cafes and restaurants., we enjoyed the buffet breakfast with fresh fruit.
The layout of the room could have been better designed. Moving the kettle to the floor to reach a plug is not ideal, no matter how old the building is! Some areas need a little TLC like the bathroom but it's clean. However, a stained toilet seat can easily be replaced. Bar tables were sticky and your glasses literally get stuck! Photos very different on booking.com
The staff were friendly and efficient.
We stayed here for my husbands birthday. On arrival we were given the loft room accessed by a set of very steep stairs. This I found difficult due to having arthritic knees . I did ask for a change of room, but was told they were fully booked. The room was nothing like the pictures on the website, all the items used for the pictures such as rugs pictures on the wall and vase of flowers etc must have been removed as the room was bare and less cosy looking, the furniture was rickety and unstable. Although the room seemed clean enough, the carpet was stained the bath stained too, it was very much in need of decorating and freshening up. The weather being hot there was a fan in the room but did not work effectively enough, and the windows being old and not maintained would not open, therefore very uncomfortable. They did provide tea making facilities but there was no socket to plug the kettle in so had to take the kettle to the other side of the room on the floor as the lead was very short. I am not sure if we just got the worst room they had or if all rooms were like that. Overall I did not think it was worth the money paid.
Location
Many things but mainly health and safety issues including lack of PAT testing, lots of mould in shower and on bedroom window. Rotten wood on bedroom window and it’s the only place we have ever stayed where we didn’t want to shower. Carpets on the stairs and landing were dirty and worn and an overall smell of “old fat” throughout.
Just a lovely experience
Nothing not to like
Location
Smell of cooking fat as you walked in. Dated, worn carpets and bathroom needed an overhaul. Not enough sockets, no where to plug in kettle. Didn’t smell fresh. Toilet seat yellow.
It felt really homely and welcoming
We liked the property but I had to choose something not having aircon in the heat wave would be the only thing.
Not aware about how many stairs to get to room, difficult with luggage Breakfast lovely only gripe used dishes need to be removed before main breakfast served as tables only small creating everything pushed to one corner and struggling to prevent fishes falling of
The stairs to room
We had our evening meal And breakfast there and the food was amazing
My husbands back Hurt In the morning as the bed his side was dipped
Localização
Preço relativamente alto e difícil comunicação por e-mail
Perfect central location in the village couldn’t be better. The pub had a wonderful seating area at the back, music, beautiful garden, perfect summers evening
A charming hotel with excellent, friendly staff. The breakfast is outstanding with multiple options. Since we were travelling on hot days in June we were delighted to have a powerful fan provided in the room. The toiletries are of good quality and there are tea and coffee facilites in the room.
The carpet would benefit by being changed.
Everything was lovely. The location is perfect and free parking over the road. The building is great very clean and the rooms are the same. Lovely terrace where we had lunch and great breakfast this morning. Staff were all polite professional and helpful. Room was ready early. Excellent value for money.
Nothing
Really comfortable beds and location was perfect
Nothing
Location
Poor customer service , extremely hot shower could not shower it was boiling and the sky light roof window had no blind
Very quaint and quirky with some lovely features right in the heart of Burford. Comfortable with great staff.
Nothing. All fine.
Location and to have a bit of self catering
Condition was awful, downstairs bearable, upstairs so filthy, shower didn’t work, the knob was stuck on scorching tiles cracked and broken beyond a crack, some paint to cover mould may of helped, we had to use bath but no chain on plug just a rusty hair grip, my daughter couldn’t bear to stay in it for a second night so left. the courtyard and garden over grown and filthy. all in a really poor state of repair , a travel lodge would of done better
The property itself was nice I appreciate it’s old but could do either some work in the bathrooms and toilets but rundown
Bed very uncomfortable
Very nice staff and helpfull

Great location in Burford. Quiet, spacious room at back of building, overlooking garden. Large, comfortable bed. Room temperature on cool side which I appreciated. Free 24-hour on-street parking on opposite side of road. Restaurant below with daily specials. Relaxed vibe.
Carpets on the landing could do with a clean now that it's finally stopped raining.
Breakfast was excellent - choice of fruit, yoghurt and cereals followed by a really good full English. We also had an evening meal which was great. The four poster room was a generous size, and we stayed at the back of the hotel, which was relatively quiet. As it's a pretty old building there were a few quirks, but we accept that, because we like to stay somewhere with character. There are plenty of modern hotel chains about if that is your preference. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Parking in the town was tricky. There is a free car park but it's time limited and so insufficient for an overnight stay. There is some free parking in surrounding streets, but we ended up with quite a walk from that. A lot of the neighbouring roads to the hotel were double yellow lined. But that's hardly the hotel's fault and it is on the busy high street.
A very traditional Cotswolds hotel. Fantastic staff and the breakfast is a must.
Parking is a bit of an issue. As the town is busy and trying to get a spot outside was difficult
breakfast was very good, staff were friendly, hotel was quaint. A nice bar area.
The Hotel could benefit from a revamp, and the bathrooms need modernising.
The location is fantastic and ideally situated for exploring the area. The breakfast was excellent, offering great value and perfectly aligned with the overall price point of the stay.
The room could benefit from some tender loving care and a refresh in certain areas; however, it was perfectly adequate and in line with the price paid. I would certainly stay here again, although I would request a different room on my next visit.
Lovely old building with period features. Staff very helpful, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. We had to leave early, before breakfast started so they made us a pack up.
Nothing
Perfect location. Nice little pub downstairs. Staff were nice. Good size room.
Could have been cleaner. Especially bathroom.
Loved the old school decoration and the bar staff were super friendly and helpful
Nothing loved our stay. Hard to park nearby if it’s busy
Burford House is in a great central location on the main street. There is adequate free parking in the streets around the Hotel. Meals were tasty and good value. Staff were very attentive.
Location
La Ubicación es excelente al igual que el desayuno y la cena en la taberna
Excellent staff, great location in a beautiful area. Breakfast was very good.
We found level of cleanliness to be quite poor, although an old building a lot of the furniture and accessories in poor condition. Our toilet was cramped, the sink slow to drain making it almost unusable, shower cubicle in poor state and shower not properly functional.
The food, the staff, the bed and the bath
The traffic noise, the room looked at bit tired carpets looked like they could do with cleaning.
Burford is a wonderful village. We were lucky with the weather - sunny and warm early summer day. The acommodation was as expected, taking into consideration being a bar/restraurant/rooms on the upper floor. Old English house with a soul in the country side. We stayed for 1 night and enjoyed the atmosphere which we had hoped for. Breakfast was good, and we appreciated the friendly service we received.
Too litle water pressure in the shower. Slightly overpriced. Difficult to find parking and we were surpriced by how much traffic there wasin such a small village. But overall, the experience tipped the balance in a positive way.
Location, nice bar areas and friendly staff
Lots of traffic noise.. the High Street is very busy
Great location. Friendly staff, good breakfast. Bar area is nice and outside courtyard lovely.
Room was very dated. Broken window latch. No toiletries.
Breakfast was amazing. Great location, great choice
Rooms are tired looking, could do with doing up
Location, nice room, very traditional.
Parking was the only thing. The free car park we found is only for 10 hours, and it was very busy so on street parking was hard to come across
Location the pub was wonderful and breakfast was excellent
The rooms were dated especially the shower room lots of mould on grout
The location was good. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was ok, but no toast offered and not much continental choice. No extra coffee offered either.
The room, particularly the bathroom, was very dirty. Lots of black mould, stained toilet seat, grime around the taps. Bedside lamps were huge, you had to get out of bed to use them. Windows filthy, decor marked and dirty. Staff not particularly friendly. Had to carry kettle across room for socket. No mirror near socket for hairdryer.
ロケーション最高 朝食も美味しく頂きました
ティーポットが小ぶりで残念.... もっとたっぷり飲みたかったでーす😅
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent customer service and beautiful clean accommodation
Posizione centralissima. Ottima colazione. Sistemazione comoda e caratteristica. Staff accogliente. Superconsigliata.
Nulla
It is a quirky old English hotel in a superb location in a beautiful village. The wonderful staff and the breakfast were outstanding.
The two shower heads in the shower as well as the shower head for the bathtub were covered in mold to the point we couldn't use them. Everything else in the room was very clean.
Short few minute walk from the town's car park. Met with friendly welcoming staff. We were not intending to eat dinner there but very glad we did. The steak and chips were worth the visit alone! Cooked to perfection and great quality food. Our room looked superb and we had a peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was well cooked and served by a friendly member of the team. Exceptional customer service, would stay there again and would highly recommend. Thank you :)
Nothing negative to say.
Everything
The rooms where great, maybe could do with a lick of paint
Overall lovely just simple things let it down
Mix up at check in didn’t look like we had our rooms at point of check in, showers poor in both my room and the cottage
Delicious Breakfast cosy
bathroom needs some TLC Shower was very hot
Breakfast was included and fantastic! Friendly, helpful staff. Large bedroom and bathroom.
Everything was wonderful. There was a dinner party the first night and it was a little noisy when trying to sleep, but I did retire to bed quite early as jet lagged and it is a public house/restaurant after all! Rest of my stay was peaceful! Would definitely recommend the BH!
Great location, good variety for breakfast and helpful staff.
