Lovely place to stay! They did a great renovation keeping the original character and charm of the building - and staff were very friendly. Can highly recommend. Breakfast was also included which was nice.

Stunning room, super comfy bed.
Best hotel ever! A beautifully renovated building with wonderful staff, a very comfortable bed, and a perfect location in a cute town surrounded by beautiful scenery. We were traveling with our bikes, and the hotel kindly stored them safely in the inner courtyard, which made us feel very comfortable and secure. We had a wonderful stay and really hope to come back again soon!
Location was excellent, breakfast was very nice, staff was accomodating and friendly - the room extremely cozy. The daily baked complimentary treats were very tasty.
Lovely place to stay; highly recommended.
Room was comfortable and spacious
With no hotel parking and restrictions on roadside parking this did meaning having to move the car which can mean not being close to the hotel
Old quirky good location

Room was very good, but the ceilings and doorways are low. Breakfast was 8 out of 10, and we did not have dinner. Position in the town is excellent.
Parking is challenging, but we managed.
How it was styled/ decorated. Loved the touch of the stocked pantry with delicious brownies! We also got upgraded to a bigger room by the lovely lady at reception! (I can’t remember her name but she had blonde hair)
There was nothing really that I disliked. We stayed during the summer heatwave and there was no ac with it being an old building but that didn’t bother us, it’s to be expected. But they did have a fan in the room for us and offered us an extra one!
It was centre of the town
It was cramped The bathroom was not really a bathroom - the shower was slippy and from having no tiles in the shower it was hard to keep water from going all over the walls and floor Part of the shower tap missing making it hard to operate There was a noisy fan outside the bedroom window The pantry on the landing did not have good coffee or tea and was a bit dirty Dirty cream carpets and dirty white Boucle chairs everywhere Table for breakfast in front of the window broken and very wobbly - No white sugar available only one member of staff to do bar reception serve breakfast and exit the guests
The room was very cozy. A bit dim in the day but made for great sleeping!
I loved how welcoming and homely the hotel felt. The interiors were exceptional and made the whole stay feel really special. The staff were lovely, friendly and extremely helpful. I also really enjoyed the breakfast — it was amazing quality, arrived very quickly and tasted delicious. Overall, everything felt comfortable, well looked after and thoughtfully done.
everything was perfect !
Delicious breakfast, albeit a little confusing being given a menu with prices, on a bed and breakfast rate. Good location; we were lucky finding a free parking spot opposite the hotel (apparently outside the hotel is only free for 2 hours. No obvious signage to say that). Staff on arrival, were very helpful and gave information about the hotel timings; we were given a key to the front door, as staff leave the hotel around 11pm. There were two fans provided in the room.
Room was very dimly lit and dark; no plug socket next to both sides of the bed for charging phones; rainfall shower soaked the floor in the bathroom; the window was broken in our room 'Wish' and it was noisy, from the traffic outside. There was one small hanging rail, which was directly above the coffee/ tea trolley, so no good for any long items and there were no drawers or wardrobe in the room, so any longer a stay, would have been frustrating.
Everything about our stay was exceptional. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning facilities and a wonderful atmosphere. The surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous and makes it the perfect place to stay when exploring the Cotswolds. The food was outstanding, and the hotel restaurant deserves a special mention – every meal we had there was excellent and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. What truly made our experience special, however, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. Whatever we needed, they were there to assist us and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic stay. Their level of care and hospitality was truly exceptional. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you are planning a trip to the Cotswolds, this is absolutely the place to stay. We would return without hesitation!
Set in a prime location in Burford, hotel bar, breakfast and the restaurant was very good.
The room was small and needed more lighting, it was dark in the room.
Really friendly staff, they went out of their way to ask about our stay, what we had been up to in the day and also kept our dog very well fed! Loved the decor of the room and the main restaurant/bar. Food and drinks are also brilliant.
Food and drink are on the pricey side but then again the location of the hotel might explain this
Cosy and traditional , staff were friendly and very helpful, great location to explore the area. Lovely breakfast and Tapas in the evening
Nothing
No había aire acondicionado.
It was quirky but lovely. Everything we needed was there - we particularly liked the little cakes in the pantry!! The staff were simply lovely.
Nothing
Location was great. The staff were lovely but seemed understaffed and under pressure.
Our room was at the back overlooking the fire escape and the bins. The fire escape was blocked with plastic crates and cardboard boxes and the fire doors often wedged open. The room vibrated when the kitchen extractor was running. The light wasn’t working, the shower valve was damaged. A bit of maintenance would have made a big difference
Excellent breakfast
Bedroom & larder were lovely. I quality coffee included. Breafast was great and super stylish rooms.
NA
We arrived Thursday afternoon and were welcomed by a lovely host who showed us to our room. Everything was spotless, the bed was super comfy, and the design was excellent. We had a street view room and slept with the window open - it wasn't too noisy overnight, though early in the morning you could hear the cars, as it's on a high street. Honestly, that didn't affect our stay at all. Service was excellent, and the breakfast was exceptional! The location couldn't be better. Honestly, our stay was so good it helped make Burford our favourite village.
It wasn't particularly hot the day we stayed, but worth noting: there's no aircon in the rooms, just a fan, so if you're visiting during a heatwave, keep that in mind.
The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and no ask was too much. The room was gorgeous but also extremely comfy. The food and drink were delicious.
The only problem is a Burford problem which is no parking, but we still managed to park around the corner with no issues.
Lovely location Beautiful building and fantastic food Friendly staff
No AC
Superb location, very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very comfy and beautifully decorated.
Location was perfect. The rooms were so cosy. We loved the bar and restaurant areas
Restaurant not open on Sunday evening
Stunning place, really interesting building.... staff were superb.
The room was very very hot at night, although the weather was extremely hot which did not help.
Stunning rooms and amazing breakfast
Attractive decor, great location with a relaxed and welcoming ambiance. Room size was decent. Really good breakfast and coffee.
No AC could be a problem in the very hot weather, luckily we missed that and room temperature was fine.
Beautiful hotel

We had a lovely stay at The Highway. The room were spacious and beautiful decorated. It was very clean and well maintained. The staff were lovely and super helpful, always checking in. Breakfast was great. Also in a great location, right on the high street
Quite a busy road, so could hear the street a bit
From the moment we arrived, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The courtyard was a lovely space to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine! The food was excellent - we ate in the tapas restaurant and enjoyed breakfast each morning. The location was great for exploring the Cotswolds. We enjoyed it so much we ended up extending our stay by one night and will definitely be back!
We stayed at the Highway for the night before our wedding celebrations and we couldn't have been happier with our stay! The room was beautiful and very spacious, Burford is a stunning town to have a walk round, we had dinner and drinks downstairs at Torro too which was lovely, Breakfast was delicious too!
Rooms a little dark but it does add to the whole vibe overall so can't complain!!
All the staff were INCREDIBLY kind and thoughtful. My partner and I were celebrating our engagement and the staff went to great lengths to ensure we truly had the best celebration! Thank you all for making our stay unforgettable :) we will definitely be back! The rooms were really beautiful interior wise, huge comfy bed and the restaurant TORO was incredible, yummy small plates (we could've ordered the entire menu). Breakfast each morning was also delicious - we really felt looked after and truly relaxed. Such a great location right on Burford highstreet and walking distance to everything you could want.
Our stay was during the height of summer (including a heat wave) so the rooms got very hot. We bought our own fan, there was also one in the room which helped. The light was quite dark in the rooms and there wasn't much hanging/storage space in our room (Gold) but it was a small room so to be expected.
Pretty room, excellent breakfast, lovely location.
We loved our stay at Highway. The team have carefully restored the inn, incorporating modern facilities while maintaining the cosy historic features. The tapas restaurant, Toro, was great, and the staff were so kind and friendly, going above and beyond with thoughtful touches.
We liked it all, so nothing to add here!
Staff were all fantastic, nothing was too much trouble.
Waited at bar for service for 10 minutes and nobody came so we left. Room was very hot, window was open but road was noisy. Two fans in room but cheap and did not cool the room. Did not state on booking that rooms has low ceiling height.
Good location. Rooms decent size
I appreciate we stayed in a heatwave and not much could be done to make the room less like a literal sauna, but I feel our room shouldn’t have been offered out. Expecting guests to be comfortable in a top floor room that had the windows and curtains open all day with the fans running doing nothing but circulating inferno heat so much so you dropped with sweat was not good. After nearly passing of out from the heat of the room we were ready to leave, but a staff member offered us a room below which was ever so slightly less warm (as we couldn’t find another hotel with AC) which was kind, so reluctantly took it. we couldn’t sleep at all so it was just not enjoyable. I’m sure it’s a better stay in spring or autumn. The bathroom was very dirty which was disappointing. Very dusty. Mildew on the shower head. Dead bug on the floor. Dust around the room. Grubby looking chairs. I did ask for a deep clean prior to the stay as I have light dog allergies. I didn’t even get a response about it and it clearly didn’t get done so was not enjoyable. There was disgusting black sludge on the shower hose which at first I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, but it’s just gross mouldy build crumbling off up as you shower… The window in the room was not secure AT ALL when trying to shut it and could be a real hazard with a child or dog when wide open. They would literally fall out. The receptionist who checked us in wasn’t welcoming or professional to be honest. It’s like we were interrupting her. The only warm staff member was a young man who seemed the most polite. I’ve run a hotel, so for me there were a few things that need to be worked on. We didn’t bother with breakfast given everything above. I appreciate the weather can’t be controlled but they just did not have a warm demeanour at all. I really wanted to like this hotel but we wouldn’t return sadly. The location is great though on the Main Street. I’m not saying any of this to be snarky this is just an honest review.
Lovely historic building in a pretty location right on the high street in Burford, lovely enclosed terrace to eat and drink during hot weather. Amazing food and delicious breakfast. Staff were really friendly.
Nothing
The staff were so friendly and kind. Atmosphere was so relaxed. Great location.
Although we were provided with a fan, the 3rd floor room in a heatwave was very very hot.
De locatie
staff, room, decor, breakfast - all very lovely
aircon rather than fan......
Stylishly decorated Excellent location Spanish restaurant was lovely Staff super friendly
First impression
The stairs and lack of support getting to the room ha ING to bend to avoid hitti g head on stairs. 5 foot high top of door frames. No food on a Sunday night and poor communications from staff
We loved our time in Burford and the accommodation was excellent!
Very comfortable and clean. Location was great, easy to access Burford.
Beautiful hotel & restaurant. The best nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel bed, a great location & the food in the restaurant was excellent!
The room Surprise was amazing!
There is no air conditioning but I knew that when booking but just making others aware
All staff friendly, professional and helpful. Our room in the attic was charming and very comfortable. The restaurant was lovely and the food delicious. Thank you.

Leuke inrichting. Vriendelijk personeel. Lekker eten.

The breakfast options were excellent , well cooked and well presented. Location of Highway is well placed on The Hill central to Burford with free parking opposite.
The noise from the road - the external old windows were stuck in an open position and the secondary windows were insufficient to shut the noise out. There was a noisy pump within a cupboard in the bathroom running continuously.
Great location. Friendly staff and very comfortable. On one of the hottest nights of the century they provided two fans and we slept well. I also requested an early check in and they took the trouble to call me and say that the room would be ready 3 hours early. Fantastic!
Excellent
Oldy world style hotel and rooms.
Poor quality room fans
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay for my 30th birthday. Had arranged for balloons and a banner which were on the bed when I arrived. Extremely clean and beautiful decor. Particularly loved the pantry down the corridor with drinks in the fridge, tea and coffee and handmade brownies (delicious). But the highlight were the staff who went above and beyond for our stay. We also had a meal at Toro (the tapas on the ground floor). Extremely delicious and good value for money. The free breakfast was amazing too. Thank you for the best 30th birthday trip!
We stayed during a heatwave and the white fan in the room didn’t work which meant we had to keep the windows open to a noisy road.
It was old and none of the rooms were the same, unique character and style but very in keeping

Location was great as was the staff and the breakfast.
Room was on the small side. TV was very small and required personal log in to get onto free view for Iplayer / ITVX etc. Previous customer details still logged in. No tea and coffee facilities in our room, instead you had to go to a communal area on the landing and bring it back to your room.
Clean & cosy
The room was quite warm at night, no AC
Lovely location and beautiful hotel, staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was incredible and so was the breakfast I would definitely return
Friendly staff Lovely decor Loved the wee pantry where you can help yourself to extra tea and coffee and their delicious blond brownies
Unfortunately their restaurant isn’t open on a Sunday evening
From start to finish we cannot fault our stay at The Highway. Our room “Kiss” was quirky, clean and had everything we needed. As it was during the heat wave it was very warm but staff had left us a fan, cool cotton sheet and and a bottle of water on our return, a nice thoughtful touch and much appreciated. There’s a little room on the landing you can make tea/coffee etc and a fridge with cold drinks to use during your stay. The bar, courtyard and front seating area are all great places to sit and enjoy a few drinks and people watch. In the morning Breakfast was most enjoyable and filled us up for the day. In the evening we ate in the tapas restaurant, very nice and fully recommend this too. The staff are all lovely, kind and approachable. The Highway was an excellent choice for us and we will definitely stay again. There is also Free parking on the opposite side of the road
Nothing
The property was beautiful. A 600 old building decorated very modern. Ambitious was very cosy and lighting was dim which helped us relax.
Not much I can say on this one.
Lovely location in the Cotswolds, very good breakfast, nicely decorated
Unfortunately our room was too hot to sleep comfortably, even with the window open (loud road traffic through the night) and the fan provided we both really struggled
Location, staff and general quaint feel of the building.
Nothing to do with the premises but we stayed during the very warm weather. The portable air conditioning unit provided was ok but insufficient for the conditions but this is not a complaint. Those conditions are incredibly rare but there was nothing else to mention on “what not to like”.
Location good, staff excellent, food was very good.
Nothing.
Just how immersed we felt in the Cotswolds whilst also feeling like modern luxury. Service at breakfast was great!
Our room was absolutely perfect, other than the fact it was so hot and we was crying out for some sort of aircon. The building was old with thick walls which meant it retained the heat really well, but did we did find it got really hot and the windows didn’t open too easily
Location and staff
Low ceilings … but no persons fault .. I’m tall and the building is old
The location was excellent and the decor was lovely. The staff were helpful and the food fantastic.
It wasn’t completely clean- the cushion by the window hadn’t been cleaned at all and the windows were covered in cobwebs - which we wouldn’t have noticed as its got additional glazing over original windows but as it was so hot we had to open them. The room could do with another way of being cooled down in the summer as the location on the high street, which is great is also quite noisy with the windows open at night.
Location, breakfast , decor and Staff
Toilet seat in room not fitting properly, fixed it but became loose again . Could hear room next door conversation and tv
Excellent choice for a stay in Burford, funky room in a characterful building with lovely amenities, a very comfortable bed and a great location with free parking across the street. Very nice breakfast and superb tapas restaurant on site. The staff were really exceptional, enabling us to store our bikes securely, providing breakfast slightly earlier than usual and ensuring that our every need was met. Very highly recommended.
So friendly the staff were truly amazing. The pantry was great very nice
Location, staff, lovely room
Need different choice of quilt - it was way too heavy And pillows … definitely improvable, I’ve had better in a guest house
Such an amazing old building which has been lovingly and tastefully restored but maintains its quirkiness,Bed’s were super comfy as was the pillow’s which is a plus for me as I have trouble with my back and shoulders, staff are so friendly and very attentive,Breakfast was really good with a varied selection,I had their homemade Granola which I would highly recommend, would definitely return

Lovely service and beautifully refurbished rooms
Room size was very good
Proximity to the kitchen vent, so had noise coming into the room
Amazing property Great staff
Beautiful building. Uniquely decorated rooms. Clean and centrally located.
Nothing.
The location of The Highway is fantastic, and the building itself is exactly what you want for a cute stay in the Cotswolds. It's got character by the bucket load and it's been decorated to a fantastic standard. The welcome was fantastic, they left some chocolates and a happy birthday note on our bed for my wife, and even got us our first drink in the bar. To be honest all of the staff we encountered were fantastic and nothing was to much trouble. We stayed in the room "Boy" and have zero complaints on the size and layout. It was exactly as the pictures and fitted with all the expected amenities. You really get a feel for the age of the building, the way no door or floor is level and everywhere has little quirks. We didn't eat in the Spanish style restaurant for dinner as we had made other plans but it did look really nice from what we saw. Breakfast was amazing, really well cooked and again nothing was too much trouble. All in all we loved our two night stay here and would go back again in a heartbeat.
The only thing that didn't work as it should was the TV in the room. It's a fire TV so you have to log in to your Amazon/Netflix accounts, sounds simple enough but it just displayed faults whenever i tried and then the remote decided it wouldn't pair with the TV on the 2nd day. Not really an issue as we had better things to do than sit and watch TV. ( Staff did sort the remote immediately) One other thing, the room could really do with a stronger light for getting ready in the morning. The lighting is great on the whole for the ambience but practically it's like getting ready in the dark (apparently)
Lovely old building with slightly modernised interior with taste. Felt so cozy and comfortable with a fully relaxing atmosphere. Decor was calming and staff are beyond helpful and friendly, most welcoming! Really impressed. Free parking on street opposite but not many spaces. Breakfast was included and some of the most flavourful food I’ve had. Definitely worth the price considering how attentive and kind staff are and how beautiful and relaxing the rooms are.
Very low doorframes, can’t be helped as old building and they look nice and helps the buildings character but might not be good for tall people.
Beautiful hotel and super friendly staff. The restaurant at the hotel (Toro) was stunning, would highly recommend, amazing Tapas!
Only thing was the lighting in the room. We love a mellow lighting via side lights but just felt if wanted the option for brightness getting ready in the evening, the big light could have been much brighter.
Loved the interior design….. very Abigail Ahern. Spacious bedroom and en suite.
Everything about this hotel was perfect, the hotel was lovely and in an excellent location the staff were fantastic and couldn’t enough for you and a special thanks too Lindsey, the room was a good size and bed was very comfortable indeed and spotless. We ate at the hotel a lot as food was outstanding especially the Sunday lunch which was the best I’ve ever had, will definitely be coming back here in the future beautiful place
Loved everything about the property
Absolutely gorgeous hotel and room. Amenities carefully considered, the service was outstanding (we were getting married and the staff went above and beyond at every opportunity to help us!). Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and we absolutely loved the little pantry upstairs with homemade treats. Also a rare treat to have such a lovely pod coffee, and fresh milk! A wonderful touch. Just the perfect stay.

Outstanding place to stay, very cosy, very original, food absolutely delicious, staff extremely friendly. Fantastic place to stay.
There is absolutely anything we didn't like it in our short stay. Next time, definitely book for a longer break
Fantastic location, wonderful decor and extremely welcoming staff.
