I liked everything

The location was excellent - not far from Melrose Arch, Rosebank, Wanderers Club or Illovo. The room was cosy and an electric blanket was provided. They also provided umbrellas in case it rained. The breakfast options were pretty good - the only one small downside was that they dont cater for muslim travellers by providing halal food - but I didnt go hungry. I didnt know Joburg used the round pins so they also provided adapters which was extremely thoughtful. On the final day after our checkout, which was at 11am, they also gave us an additional room to pray in before our ride to the airport. Sue runs an amazing place. Highly recommend.

I was given a room right at back, the path to get to it was through the garden with no lighting, the coffee mugs were not properly cleaned, there was no phone to contact to office in case of an emergency or to call for clean cups, the property was old inside and felt damp even though it was February. No value in rate charged

Gorgeous small boutique hotel in Melrose. Felt very safe and a short uber drive to Rosebank mall. Great Greek restaurant nearby which the owner will drive you home after your meal. Henry the hotels driver is great and a good guide for Johannesburg. Sue and her wonderful staff were lovely and a pleasure to spend time with. Room lovely and big and great breakfasts.

Tired rooms Cleaners didn’t clean toilet after last guest and didn’t empty bar fridge of the last guests food.

The rooms were clean and a decent size. The bed was comfortable and had a lovely lounge. We arrived in the evening but the security guard was friendly and walked us to a great restaurant down the street.

The biggest issue was that I didn't have hot water. Since I only stayed for one night and took a shower in the morning prior to checking out, I was unable to request that they address the issue. My colleague who stayed in the room above me had the same problem. My other colleagues who stayed in the building next to us did not.

Check in was prompt and efficient, Room is spacious and well laid out. Bed is large and comfortable, and the unit we had which was furthest away from reception was very quiet and peaceful. Room TV has various services available. Host Sue is very friendly and accommodating. Area is great for accessing Sandton, Melrose and surrounds.

Breakfast felt limited, no cappuccino on offer, and a single small omelette was served. Coincidentally we where given the last cheese, so nothing available for toast, but Sue was very helpful. There also happened to be construction which was not indicated beforehand on booking.com. It didnt really disturb, but i still would have liked to be aware.

I loved the swimming pool, and the general ambience of the place. It;'s within safe walking distance to the Rosebank Mall, which is well worth a visit, and there are lots of amenities nearby too. A perfect location overall.

Die Kommunikation mit dem Personal, als ich einen Adapter gebraucht habe war dieser nach meiner Rückkehr schon auf meinem Zimmer, das Personal beim Frühstück war so herzlich und zuverkommend, Peter am Eingangstor war immer hilfreich. Ich habe mich von Anfang an zu Hause gefühlt, was bei einer sehr vollen Geschäftswoche sehr hilfreich war. Das Hotel ist ruhig, schön eingerichtet mit einem wunderbaren Garten.

Al nostro arrivo le camere erano freddissime, ci hanno acceso subito le stufe a gas in mezzo alle stanze ma il primo impatto non è stato gradevole, sapendo che saremmo arrivati in tarda serata avrebbero potuto accenderle un po' prima.

Nothing was too much trouble for Sue and her team. It was wonderfully relaxing, sitting on the terrace, or having a dip in the pool. The garden is a peaceful haven. It was nice having breakfast at a large table, with other guests.

Melrose Place is a wonderful place to stay — beautiful gardens, peaceful surroundings, and a very safe environment. The staff were amazing, going out of their way to make us feel welcome and offering help whenever needed. Sue was a fantastic host! It was a real pleasure hearing her stories, and she gave us excellent tips for sightseeing.

I had the most delightful stay, the staff made me feel so welcome and cared for. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the location was perfect for our conference just down the road at The Wanderers Club. The gardens were stunning and felt like a total retreat from the bustle of the city. Would 100% recommend to any other travellers.

When the name boutique is used, one expectations are very high. I slept at Mynlyn Boutique in Pretoria, it was wow and met the standard.

It was close to the venue of the show we were attending and we were able to walk to and from safely.

The setting was perfectly peaceful, all staff were very friendly & helpful. Sue, the owner, was delightful. Our 5 day stay was excactly what we needed after our tour of Sth Africa.

It was really cold (but that is the JHB winter). It is an older but charming building with glass doors, so it is tough to keep the room warm (it must be lovely in Summer). They do provide gas heaters in the rooms, but the one in my room kept switching off on it's own. They also provide enough blankets though. The hot water pressure was low and kept dropping lower while showering. They don't provide a box or pack of tissues in the rooms.

Room and bathroom cold as it was winter. Offered a gas heater which we’re not really comfortable using.

The location was excellent. The breakfast was fine but not ideal for some dietary quirks. We loved the decor - very English country home. But the property is so cold despite the heaters liberally available. It just needs thin trees trimmed to let in more light.
