The staff at Rosebank Hyatt House are absolutely wonderful and deserve much praise. It is a very good choice for a place to stay in the area.

The sole problem with the good location of Hyatt House is that of course it's actually in Melrose not Rosebank, and to walk to and from the restaurants, cafés, shops and more in the welcoming and very useful Rosebank commercial area, one must do two blocks which are ok to walk during a sunny day but at night not advisable for pothole (yes, in sidewalks) and security reasons. It's fine at the hotel and in Rosebank it's just the bit in between.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, they really made the stay. It was great to be so close to the shops and restaurants of Rosebank, as well as the Gauteng station. The room was a good size and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

Comfortable rooms

The description of the facilities at the hotel need to be clarified as we did not realize that it was a Halaal hotel. It makes it difficult for entertaining business colleagues

The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful, and my room was cleaned to a very high standard every day. Fresh towels were also provided daily, so thank you to the housekeeping and front-of-house teams.

Unfortunately, the noise was a major issue throughout my stay. There is construction taking place immediately next to the hotel, right outside the guest room windows. During the first few days, construction started around 6:00am and finished around 5:30pm, which I could understand. However, on my fifth night (Thursday), the construction continued through the night and into the early hours of the morning. The noise was so excessive that I was unable to sleep at all that night.

We love this hotel and have stayed here more than once. The rooms are clean and spacious, staff are friendly and nothing is to much to ask. It's central to everything.

Awful experience checking in. Firstly check-in is at 16.00 and we were only checked in at 18.00 - had to wait in the lobby with an unwell elderly family member. Secondly - check in staff was checking us under incorrect booking /name Thirdly - locked bag was tampered with by housekeeping.

Disappointing stay – poor transparency and inadequate assistance Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my stay at this Hyatt property in Johannesburg. When we arrived, the room was cold. We contacted reception and were told that the heating system in that part of the building was not working due to technical problems. The proposed solution was simply to provide us with a small portable heater. I had to insist quite strongly before they finally agreed to change our room. Eventually, the room was changed, but the way the problem was handled was far from what I would expect from an international hotel chain such as Hyatt. There were also issues with the condition and preparation of the room. The bed sheets had visible tears, and overall there was a lack of attention to detail and care in preparing the room. Another major disappointment was the restaurant’s alcohol policy. No alcohol was served at the hotel restaurant, and we were told that the property operates as a Halal establishment. However, this information was not clearly mentioned on the Booking.com listing. This is important information that guests should know before booking, particularly when it concerns a significant aspect of the hotel’s services. As Hyatt is an American international hotel group, this was certainly not something I would have expected without clear prior information. What disappointed me most was the lack of transparency and the inadequate assistance when problems arose. A hotel of this level should be much more proactive in informing guests and resolving issues rather than waiting for them to insist. Overall, I believe the management and operation of the property need significant improvement. The standards I experienced were not what I would expect from a Hyatt hotel, and I believe the property deserves greater attention and oversight from Hyatt corporate management. Hyatt is well located within 5 minute walk to the Rosebank Mall, as well as restaurants, public transport etc. Breakfast is excellent, as you can see the items are curated - top notch Halaal breakfast as well. Staff are well trained, courteous and extremely helpful.

Things that could be improved, but are minor in relation to the overall experience: Breakfast could do with a bit more options like the Cape Town branch, or perhaps rotate a few options in for the next day. In the room, there wasn't liquid soap for the basin, one had to use the bottle from the shower.

Great location, excellent facilities. We had breakfast included which was pretty good with variety on both the days we stayed. Another excellent feature was the mini kitchen in the room which can be easily used to cool meals and warm up food in the microwave.

The tours organised by the property are a bit on the expensive side although these are private. But overall, the hotel does not have anything negative

We liked the secure parking and helpful porters. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The shower was amazing, good water pressure and hot! The bed was comfortable. Walking distance to activities.

Only one small elevator for the whole hotel, and it was slow. No alcohol or bar. Barely a restaurant. More of a self-catering, but we were banking on the Hyatt name to provide more luxury.

Location is good. Dining staff were excellent and provided very courteous and hospitable service.

Very disappointed that Hyatt can stoop to such low standards. The rooms are extremely small and the sinks are laughable. An average person would not be able to brush their teeth without spilling water with such a small sink. The mirror in the room is hardly 2ft by 1.5 ft - what do you do with a mirror of this size? Everyday we had issues with towels and not having enough drinking water in the room. The front staff tried to help but did not go out of their way to resolve our concerns. On the other hand the dining staff were great and that was the one great aspect of our stay.

I had a long stay so my room was upgraded and for that I appreciate. The staff by the breakfast was very friendly and helpful. Ausi Vero and her team are exceptional with their chefs at the background. There was just no varierty of food at breakfast. There was only one cheese, one youghurt, one type of nuts no seeds at all. Corrisants were very freshly baked but very limited on most of the days. Spinach receipe can be improved. I was always looking to the water melon at breakfast. The house keeping ladies, Lerato, Olga, Belinda and Anna were very friendly and understanding. I lked the clean and comfy towels every day without fail.

I made my booking through booking.com. I was tossed between the hotel and booking.com when I wanted to reschedule my stay. That was so frustrating. The reception team can be more productive and helpful, try to follow up on the requests made.

The accommodation is very comfortable and conveniently located in a great and safe area of Johanesburgo . The breakfast is good, with a generous selection, and the extended serving hours are a great bonus, allowing for a more relaxed start to the day. Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Unfortunately, the hotel only has one elevator, which often resulted in long wait times, especially during busy hours. In addition, the televisions were not Smart TVs, which limited the entertainment options during the stay.

Pedí hacer un late check-out a las 18:00h pagando, por supuesto, y me dijeron que solo podía hacerlo si pagaba la noche completa. Accedí al pago solicitado pero para mi sorpresa no hicieron la habitación, no cambiaron las toallas y cuando las solicité en recepción para poder ducharme me dijeron que habían tenido un problema y no tenían disponibles! Pagué la noche completa para poder usar la habitación 6 horas y el servicio fue HORRIBLE. No siquiera atinaron a decir le devolvemos parte de lo pagado ya que no pudimos prestarle correctamente el servicio.

The air in the hotel rooms was very dry, even with the aircon turned. I really struggled to fall asleep. The staff though friendly, would sometimes forget you existed. Especially at breakfast. The corners of the bed were very sharp, bumped my knee and foot into them a couple of times.

Overall experience staying at this property twice during our visit was good. Although technically a serviced apartment property, it felt more like a 3-star hotel. The room design is a bit dated and could do with a few updates (e.g. bathroom sink, shower), but rooms were quiet, functional, and a good value. Beds and linens were in good condition and comfortable, breakfast buffet was excellent, and staff were always available and super-helpful. Great location - close to Rosebank Mall and restaurants.

All staff from front of house, to dinning to cleaning staff and maintenance staff were excellent. You could tell they were properly trained and prepared to meet every guests needs. So pleasant and a pleasure to interact with.

The basin in the bathroom was too small. Water splashed everywhere and my head kept knocking the shelf above. Very inconvenient. I wouldn't rebook to stay here just because of that, which is a shame. Although rooms were neat and clean, I know the toilets were not cleaned regularly during my stay. I was there for 7 days.

A minor thing but important for the overall appeal as it is your welcoming station. Very dead flowers on the table with the welcome drink & cookies. They were there for the entire week even after I made reception aware of how unappealing they were.

Location was central to where I wanted to go. Breakfast was tasty and a variety to choose from. The staff everywhere is exceptional, always smiling, greeting and happy to help in any way. The room was clean, and the comfort of the mattress was great.

The hotel had a welcoming vibe from passing through the secure entry point to my first step through the door and this included engagement with the staff. While the reception, foyer, restaurant was compact it felt homely and organised. My room was very well presented, although the couch was the most uncomfortable that I had encountered; however, this was a minor annoyance. I totally enjoyed the breakfast offering; it included an range of cold and hot dishes - the later were delicious. I opted to have the meal in the alfresco area, which was a totally relaxing space. I hadn't registered that the hotel was a Halal establishment; in a way this seemed to enhance the vibrancy of the place. Guest are permit to bring alcohol from outside to consume in theirs rooms or beside the pool. Fortunately, the Rosebank shopping precinct was within easy walking distance; it offered a wide variety services in a space that feelled safe. It was a totally enjoyable stay.

The room was not cleaned thoroughly before our check-in. The view off the balcony was facing the next door construction site which was noisy and very unsightly! Could not dare to open the curtains or door to the balcony. NOT as advertised! It was not mentioned that the hotel is Halal only, which meant we could not enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. The check-in took long and the lobby was disorganised and understaffed. Too many unfortunate things in one stay. Will not stay there again.

Not the property’s fault but construction on one side of the building so maybe request for the car park facing rooms for now until that is done. A more varied pastry menu for breakfast perhaps but not serious as there are a good few options for the price you pay. Maybe have a key card entry at the boom gate as opposed to constantly check license and disc each time you enter/exit although it is for your own security.

The location is awesome.

As a hotel with an excellent location, you should provide a shuttle service between the Gautrain station and the hotel, in both directions. It is quite inconvenient for guests to carry their luggage along the street from the station to the hotel, especially considering that using an Uber for such a short distance can be relatively expensive. Another extremely disappointing aspect is the lack of internet connectivity on the TVs in the rooms, which means guests cannot access streaming services or other online features. Finally, there are no telephones in the rooms to contact the reception or request room service. Guests have to go down to the reception desk every time they need assistance, which is highly inconvenient.

Good value for money. Good food, good location, good airport transfer. Clean and modern. Was recommended by family who lives locally.
