Location and setting
Extremely tired decor
Beautiful setting
All fine
Ground views, location and comfortable bed. The rooms, although very dated, were v clean.
Additional fee for cooked breakfast is a minus in property which claimed to be 4* The rooms ( although clean ) could do with an update. Carpet in the hallways screams to be replaced. The property is beautifuly located ,but no direct access to walking trails, which is a minus ( but I believe it’s a bigger issue involving multiple land owners etc. ) Overall bit too expensive for the value.
The property is set in a very picturesque area of the new forest. The main building its self is a wonderful example of the architecture of the time, and ‘classically English’. The surrounding fields, one of which has deer in it are also visually pleasing, and the option to look at the local village shops or surrounding walks is nice.
Some bits in the main building are a little tatty, with the odd bit of trimming concealing wiring showing obvious ware (as old wires protruding) or pain starting to flake from behind the room door. These are relatively minor complains, as the venue was clean and the main receptions areas, and restraint is well kept. The only other complain would be drink prices. These are more in line with ‘London prices’ compared to other local pubs in the Hampshire area. Food is reasonably priced in the restaurant, but alcohol is on the more expensive side.
The receptionist was amazing. She made us feel very welcome. A beautiful old building. We had tea outside on the patio looking at the green. A fantastic stay
Nothing
Location fabulous-so peaceful… Breakfast very nice…
Two days running my bacon turned up nearly cold… Also the staff behind the reception desk need to smile more! Out of four people, only one of them greeted us with a smile! It’s the little things that one remembers!
Location was great
Room was tiny, window didn't open, was clearly damaged by damp and very dingy, with paint peeling off the walls
Beautiful and tranquil and peaceful.
All good no complaints.
Beautiful setting. Great breakfast included.
Room was not as quiet as I'd have liked
We loved the manor-house vibe, with its carved wooden panels and beautiful fireplaces. The grounds were charming, offering great views across the park. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food, though we didn’t dine there often, was very good.
Unfortunately, we noticed the upper, fixed part of the window was dirty, with spider webs and dead flies on it, even though the rest of the room was spotless. They weren’t visible from below, but when I went to remove the webs—since my wife has a spider phobia—I discovered them. The hotel handled it well, apologising and offering us compensation. Despite this, I’d still recommend the hotel, as we went on to enjoy a truly lovely holiday.
Beautiful location
A very expensive room , and only a continental breakfast included.
Beautiful and great location
Pool out of order :(
A beautiful old English country mansion with so much charm and character in a lovely setting
Maybe needs some exterior painting
Grounds were pretty and the deer at dusk and dawn were so lovely to see.
TV in room didn't work, and we really wanted to watch a sporting event.
The hotel is in a beautiful location with the village and walks close by. It was a relaxing and peaceful stay. Just what we needed.
It’s dirty, the bed had rips in the sheets plus it looked like it hadn’t been made properly someone obviously sat on it. And the room smelt like old men. the bathroom was disgusting it had water marks everywhere and pee stains up the wall, there was dog poop bags out the front, the seating we had to ask for cushions it was just all a bit of disappointment really I won’t be going back there and oh the pool was green yeah not great.
The view and the dear in the garden
the ambience , very original and unspoilt
the doors and corridors need a good makeover ,really rather scruffy, no lift
Breakfast and Dinner was very good. Staff were all mostly friendly and helpful. Pool was very good, few leaves but that was expected due to the trees. All of the nearby deer and the views.
The ladder on the pool was loose and a bit dangerous. Ant issue meant we couldn't leave food or drink on the side in the cabin. How the shower door opens into the shower in the cabin.
Loved the garden suite. Although the balcony was dreadful!! Broken in several places and needs re painting
We paid a lot of money for our room and a hot breakfast should be included . The tea and coffee were served from urns and was awful. Couldn’t believe you had to pay extra for specialty coffees ie a cappuccino.
Parking was just outside the room as been told, the room as very big and spacious
WE have booked for a garden view but instead we had overgrown hedges, and the wooden patio and stairs were all rotten and dangerous to use, room service was not completed on some days and had to chase the housekeepers after 17.00
Area, views etc
Rooms, mattress, noise
The location was perfect.
The hotel was dated and tired looking. We had one of the garden suites and all the wooden terrace was broken and in disrepair. The steps leading down onto the grounds were broken and quite dangerous. The ladders getting into the swimming pool were also broken.
Location was good
More of a events hotel catering for weddings, what have been better to have known there was a wedding on before arriving. Very short staffed so took 25minutes to get a drink, tables were left uncleared in the dining room
Very quirky
Rooms were small very unwelcoming not value for money
Pool, front terrace, outdoor seating, breakfast, dog friendly. The deer warden!
We feel hard flooring would be a good idea for the dog friendly rooms. Carpet is possibly not the best option.
Hotel location was ideal and seeing the deer in the adjacent park in the evening was a definite highlight. Hotel food in was also very high quality. Complements to the chef and the staff. WiFi was great.
Room 4 despite being identified as a ‘Classic Superior’ was disappointing. A hotel room really needs only 3 things: a comfy bed, a good shower and a tv that works. Everything else could be considered garnish. Unfortunately, room 4 at the the Burley Manor failed on these 3 essentials. The bed. To describe it as ‘firm’ is an understatement and it definitely listed to the left. However the highlight was the wave like action created when someone walked down the corridor outside! You are lifted up and then placed down as the guest walked across the floorboards to their room. The shower: The hotel prides itself on having Green credentials and there were suggestions in the room about how to use less water but the fact that the isolator that switched between the overhead shower head and the handheld one wasn’t working at all meant that water poured out of both at the same time making any other water saving ideas completely redundant. The TV in the room was a relic from the 1990’s and pre dated smart TVs. Unfortunately the aerial cable didn’t work and it was impossible to get a signal on any channel. As a result we resorted to watching iPlayer on a phone because happily the WiFi was, as advertised, of high quality. Extras: The room had an iron and ironing board but oddly no hairdryer which again seems to be a standard in most hotels. There was also no ‘do not disturb’ door hanger which despite requesting twice during our 3 night stay, never materialised. The reception staff did however take account of our verbal request not to disturb the room. We were also travelling with bikes and one of the reasons for booking the Burley Manor was a question response stating that a bike rack was located behind the hotel. We never found one and ended up chaining the bikes to the rear fire escape. As other reviews have identified, despite being a beautiful building in a lovely location, this hotel feels really tired and needs some money spent on it.
Excellent view out of our room was fantastic the room comfortable and quiet
Breakfast buffet selection was reasonable and the accommodation was comfortable.
Not enough staff. Waited 20 mins to check-in and service was always slow or almost unavailable for both bar and outside restaurant. The exception is that breakfast was OK, apart from being told that for hot food we could only book for 7.30am or 9.30am, neither if which were suitable - so we opted for the cold buffet instead.
The property itself was beautiful and on the doorstep of the village centre. We saw people walking to the pub at the end of the road. It’s very pretty and has so much character. Outside seating in the front was really nice to have a coffee before getting ready for dinner. We didn’t use the pool but looked nice from the room. The place is popular and parking is limited, even the overflow was full. The room was pretty and the furniture had lots of character. The tea room is stunning and the breakfast was really enjoyable! Definitely worth the upgrade from continental. Would stay again if they promise to give us a room with a comfortable bed if that’s even possible. Oh and address the dust build up of course.
We stayed in room 30 and had an AWFUL sleep. Both of us kept waking up as the bed was rock hard and so uncomfortable. I’ve never slept on anything like it. Also I dropped a T-shirt on the bathroom floor very close the radiator and picked it up to find a thick layer of dust. Then saw the same behind the toilet. A lot of dust and cob webs. There’s no lift but that didn’t bother us. Some water damage on the bathroom but again that didn’t bother me as it’s expected for a high traffic area.
Beautiful historic property well maintained with a modern extension inkeeping with the style of the original building. Large rooms with good facilities and very comfy superking bed (garden suite). Very easy access to the pool and easy for luggage too as lots of parking available. Great location. Lovely food, excellent staff.
I was only there one night. Possibly they could have some board games available or chess etc but they might have done and I missed it as was only one night’s stay.
Very good surroundings and lovely house
Room had no extraction unit in the bathroom and water leak from shower over the bath onto the floor, furniture in the room all a little odd , nothing matching and sizes a little bit overpowering for the room .
Lovely views and a magnificent building - needs an awful lot of work though.
Firstly, our room didn’t lock. We alerted reception who said we could stay in a different room that evening but the hotel was full the following evening, leaving us worrying we’d need to find somewhere else to stay the following night. They said they’d check it and come to find us in the restaurant. Two and a half hours later, punctuated by a very average and expensive meal in the hotel restaurant where the staff behaved as if they’d never served a meal before, we went to reception to investigate. No apology was given and they jumped straight to money off the room, assuring us they’d move someone else the next day if the lock couldn’t be fixed and that we’d be happy with the price reduction. No help was offered with our luggage to change rooms the first evening and no understanding was forthcoming about the effect this all had on what we hoped would be a relaxing stay. When you add this to the following, the stay was throughly disappointing and might actually constitute the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in: - overpriced drinks served in dirty glasses (lipstick stains, etc) - peeling paint in the swimming pool and sun loungers that had seen much better days - missing items from the menu when food was served - an additional ten pounds per head for a cooked breakfast - a very poor continental breakfast included - threadbare and stained carpet that clearly had seen a moth infestation - slippery bathroom floor when dry causing a near fall - booking.com listing says ‘adults only’ twice (it definitely isn’t) and then refers to children being welcome in another place on the listing Overall it was expensive, tired and needed additional staff.
Beautiful area, beautiful building. Staff were helpful and friendly. Pricing was very reasonable.
Some parts of the interior had flaking chipped paint and needed fixing up. More sound deadening needed between rooms/ floors as we could hear the noises coming from the pipes or when someone in another room uses hot water you could hear boiler noises etc.
The location is excellent and accessible. It looks grand from the outside. It had a swimming pool - not used this trip. Staff were pleasant and helpful in the bar and breakfast dining.
The hotel has seen better days, the chairs in the room and dining room need attention - the upholstery is torn, and the chair cushions sag. The window frames were rotten, the windows need cleaning, they were covered in spiders webs. The room had been decorated, but the paint was peeling in the bathroom and the bedroom walls. The air fan - needed due to the heat wave, needs attention - it was too noisy - it needs replacement. The terrace string lights were not switched on when it got dark, so it you could not see very well. This is a potential safety hazard - with elderly guests. It would seem that money is not being re-invested in the upkeep of the hotel. Breakfast eggs were hard, the hash browns were undercooked and looked anaemic. Pricey for what you get. Finally, not surprisingly, the receptionist on check out did not ask whether we had enjoyed the stay or had any problems.
Location
Perhaps the corridor walls were a little tired
Location
Poor breakfast. Rooms tired looking.
The manor house was lovely and the grounds beautiful. We enjoyed the pool.
It was so hot in our room that we were unable to sleep. The tiny fan provided was useless. The hotel should have planned for hot summers much better.
The breakfast was terrible, the afternoon tea was ok and although the majority of staff were trying there was not enough staff to ensure a comfortable stay.
The breakfast. !!!!! Awful.
Beautiful location
Leaking water pouring through the ceiling in the dinning room for 2 days !!
The outside pool and the location
The bed was very hard and room a little tired
Beautiful views. Very comfortable room. Staff were excellent
The only small thing would of loved higher seating around the pool. Deckchairs were a big no and the beautiful sunloungers were very very low making them difficult to get up off.
Nice location
Shower did not work at all - only trickles of water. Bed was very small. Whole building needs some work.
The grounds and landscape
Unfortunately, our experience fell well below the standard we expected, and I feel it is important to make you aware of the number of issues we encountered. Firstly, there were no ashtrays available anywhere outside, which was inconvenient and poorly thought out for guests using the designated outdoor areas. The swimming pool itself raised several health and safety concerns. There was paint peeling from the pool, and a glue-like substance came away and became stuck to my partner’s hand. In addition, the pool was absolutely covered in flies to the point that I ended up using the pool net myself to remove them, as it was unpleasant to swim in those conditions. There was also a serious lack of communication amongst your staff regarding the hotel’s no-glass policy around the pool. There was clear signage stating that glass was not permitted, yet when I asked for a plastic cup, a member of staff informed me they could not find any and told me to take a glass bottle to the pool instead. A short while later, the same member of staff came over to ask for the bottle back, explaining that he had forgotten about the strict no-glass policy. This inconsistency demonstrated a worrying lack of communication and training. Furthermore, if the hotel operates a strict no-glass policy, I would expect plastic cups and plastic bottled water to be readily available, yet neither were. On arrival, I used the downstairs disabled toilet, which also serves as the baby changing facility. I was shocked by the amount of mould and visible water damage present. Not only is this unacceptable from a cleanliness perspective, but it is also a potential health risk, particularly for babies and young children using the changing facilities. The Sunday roast service was also disappointing. Your menus and advertising clearly state that food service begins at 12:00 pm, yet we were informed it did not actually start until 12:30 pm.
Great location beautiful grounds and lovely building. Continental breakfast was good too.
Needs updating around some areas and the pool but didn’t spoil our stay.
Staff very polite and the bed was super comfortable
The breakfast was way over priced. Warm orange juice and £20 per head for a cooked breakfast the eggs were over done crispy and horrible and the potato rossti was a frozen hash brown. Which was so over done it shattered and half flew off the plate
Location.
Awful room. Small hot and not value for money
The building itself and surrounding area was absolutely beautiful, gardens were well kept and lovely too. Saturday night meal was lovely, starters on Sunday were lovely.
Upkeep isn't good, flaky paint in the outdoor pool, unstable ladder to get out. No parasols for shade. Bathroom appeared to be black grout, until you looked closer and realised it was mold. Flaky paint in the bathroom and bedroom. Possible water damage on the ceiling too. Fan in the bathroom, filter was disgusting. Threadbare carpets throughout the hotel. Brocken chairs in the dining room with fabric hanging off the sides. Cobwebs everyone, especially in conservatory type dining area. Staff were poorly organised, not attentive at all, left waiting to order food, drinks, dessert etc. One table were even asked if they wanted to order dessert before they'd even ordered any food. Sunday lunch was cold and roast potatoes were grey and dry. Event being run on arrival day which wasn't on the website and we weren't made aware before arrival. Then told restaurant was closed due to it, offered to order sandwiches from the bar. Sandwiches and salad were tasty, however the bread was covered in tomato juice and seeds and neither of us had tomatoes in our sandwiches. Told the pool was closed until Summer when we asked on the first day, it was late June and 28 degrees, told them they needed to open it the next day as it was over 30, which they did thankfully. Website states pool is open June to September.
The location and the look of the building
The room
Everything, fantastic room, bathroom restaurant and location.
Nothing at all
Lovely scenery
Service was slightly slow but staff were fantastic in the end. Definitely will be back
The location
Receptionist quite rude The furniture to sit on outside was taken away to use for a wedding so no where to sit in the evening Breakfast was quite unorganised not enough cups or cutlery no napkins supplied Advertise a swimming pool but unable to use apparently as the ph level was not correct surely this us something that should be checked regularly and corrected daily !
Great location and views. Grounds were tidy
Staff didn’t seem friendly with very little interaction. It was intended to be a special location for a very special occasion. We were lost among the other wedding parties and when we complained about the noise at 6 in the morning it was met with a shrug of the shoulders and a a sorry but it was a bride and guests getting ready.
This is the second time we've stayed at Burley Manor and it was just as good as the first time. Everything was perfect.
Nothing
The room was a good size for what we needed and lovely location
It is dated Pool was closed despite heat wave Restaurant poor quality so we didn't use it as pre warned
I loved the location and easy walking distance to new forest. Easy to park on the hotel grounds. I liked that I could order food at a reasonable price and sit outside on the seating overlooking the fields, early evening time. I enjoyed that my room had a bath to relax after a long day of walking.
My room wasn’t ready at the allotted time so had to wait in a very hot lounge area. The outdoor swimming pool wasn’t open on the hottest week of the year. The bed was extremely hard and the pillows extremely soft so didn’t get a good nights sleep as I was uncomfortable.
Nothing
Hottest bank holiday weekend, their swimming pool was closed and they didn’t inform us of this until check in. We booked a garden suite which the balcony was so small two people could not sit down. NO MInI frigid in the room - for water It was like a care home. Don’t Book
The location was fabulous and it’s a beautiful property although it needs redecoration in places.
My room wasn’t clean. Either the bottom sheet hadn’t been changed or the cleaner dropped sugar in the bed by mistake.
Beautiful manor and setting
Pool not open even in heatwave but it is seasonal
The bedroom was spacious, comfortable and with tasteful old style decor. The bed was firm and perfect. More milk, better soluble coffee and provision of biscuits would be an asset. We loved watching the deer, the house martens and other bird life. The food was delicious though the cheeses at breakfast were too mild for my taste. The toasters were too slow. The staff were lovely, particularly Alex from Ireland who was delightful, friendly and bright and the lady who cleaned our room was sunny and warm. The gardens were beautifully maintained. Such a brilliant location!! Would love to have been introduced to the man in charge of the deer and learn more about him and them.
Irritating milk sachets which tended to explode. Not enough of them. Poor soluble coffee. Lack of local biscuits. Slow toasters in dining room. Some of the seating not supportive enough.
The staff were incredible. I was a little late arriving for check in and had issues with my card payment, and the reception team were very friendly and patient, and gave me an alternative payment option. The restaurant breakfast team were very friendly, there was so much choice on the menu, and the food was delicious. The wait and bar staff at my friend’s wedding reception held at the venue were also very friendly and attentive, and the wedding breakfast was also delicious. The housekeeping staff were also friendly and took the time to say hello as I was walking around the venue. I absolutely loved my stay and hope to visit again sometime!
Nothing, it was all fantastic!
The continental breakfast was so spread out it became farcical jams and toast were so far apart i gave up walking around because the toast was cold by the time i found a table. The staff were friendly but we were left to our own devices and not explained where everything was.
The room that was allocated to us was very very tired stained carpets and bedroom furniture looked like it was bought from a car boot sale. And as for the peacocks screaming at 2am was not pleasant!
The location is beautful and the building.
Full english breakfast wasnt included and its nearly £200 a night which is strange but continential is. The food in the evening is overpriced also.
Lovely house in beautiful grounds, the bed was very comfortable
The hotel is shabby in places, it seems like maintenance is very low priority. We stayed in room 41, purporting to be a suite, all the way around the outside corridor. The bathroom was in very poor condition and the wooden deck outside the room is in a treachorous state with odd bits of wood holding it all together. The bushes are very overgrown, the worst in the row, it felt like we were put in the room that they use for staff rather than a very expensive hotel room. The practice of charging an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast would remain just an annoyance if it weren't for the fact that the cooked breakfast just isn't very good. Its meagre; the toasters don't work properly; there are no side plates; the coffee is rough. If you were having the continental, that in itself would be a big disappointment as the selection is meagre also.
The location, quiet and relaxing. Deers in the park in front of the hotel. Could see them from our room. The kindness of the staff. Lovely stay. Dogs were everywhere and very well treated by staff: water, treats.
The wheelchair was not easy to manoeuver in some areas but staff did everything they could to help us.
It was unique
Nothing
The outside of the building
Looked great from outside
Adequate.
More choice would be advantageous.
Location
Poor state of repair, the same area of poor repair noted from 4 years ago in the hallway. Room 7 had a strong smell of damp and the window had been opened to probably clear it but it soon returned when closed. Floor worryingly uneven with foot end of bed higher than head end. Furniture everywhere tired, damaged and with sunken flat cushions. Dirty stained carpets throughout. Several blown windows in conservatory. Lack of breakfast options, no boiling water for teapot and hot water dispenser warm not hot at breakfast. The continental breakfast is a choice of two cheeses, two hams, no rolls, two pastries, cold tea served twice, uncooked croissants in the middle. No mention of smoking area and no ashtrays at front of property so cigarettes outside everywhere, smoking area was noticed when leaving. The few cushions that were put on some of the chairs were left out all night so wet in the morning. Key card faulty so Yale type lock supplied with plastic keyfob with handwritten room number and a Christmas Cracker type key ring. It seemed to be fully under staffed, long wait for someone to arrive at reception for check in and for coffee in bar. Staff stressed, no one was friendly or polite, limited drink choice in bar. Barman doubles up as restaurant manager so long wait for drinks. Would not accept cash, had to pay on arrival, probably so you didn’t argue the overpriced rooms and service. Breakfast included but only continental with limited choice, all buffet style. Cooked breakfast additional charge. Carpets stained and threadbare in places. Dining chairs seats collapsed, coverings hanging off. Lounge area unclean with cake and food remnants all over furniture.
Loved the character of the house and the deers in the field, very comfortable bed.

Staff
Location was beautiful, staff was friendly, room was a good size, but we did pay extra. Food was good. Charming Burley was only a short walk away.
Whilst the food was good it was expensive for what it was.
We liked our stay at Burley Manor and if back in the New Forest, would stay there again. A lot of comments says breakfast was basic but I think there were enough choices, I would add boiled egg to the choices and it would be a good breakfast.
We had a nice stay and liked everything.
A quiet, comfortable hotel
I've stayed here 3 times and my impression is that the management have gradually reduced the staffing to the point where there are now not enough staff to cover all the jobs. I waited for 15 minutes to check-in (at a peak time) because there was no one at reception, and the one person i could find (in the kitchen) didn't know where the receptionist was. He turned up having been doing other critical jobs. I do not blame the staff - they can only do so much. Breakfast also has been reduced in food and staff. The evening food looked expensive and not very interesting so I always eat elsewhere.
Beautiful hotel, lovely character and grounds
Restaurant staff could have dealt with dropping an entire glass of prosecco over me much better! To not even offer us a free drink or clean the table/ move us to a clean onefor us was appalling.
The views were spectacular and the staff were all friendly.
The bed was hard, the pillows soft. Service charges were added on without any notice when upgrading the breakfast.
We found everything excellent. The dining room was very attractive as was the rest of the hotel. The room had a view of the deer park and grounds was warm and comfortable. The food was delicious and all the staff friendly and helpful
Nothing at all. This hotel has now become a favourite place to stay and we will definitely come again. Its position in the New Forest is a great place to explore surrounding areas
I liked the location of the property.
The staff were not trained on the bar I could not order cocktails as staff did not know how to make them. Even had to tell them how to make a gin and tonic and what glass to put it into. I had the worst meal I have had in the restaurant which ruined my stay and would make me not want to stay there again. Rooms and bathrooms were a bit outdated and mirror in room was disgusting and could see in it.
Location is great. Staff were very polite and accommodating.
Rooms very tired. Hotel in need of an upgrade. Lots of potential but very mediocre and below par from similar 4 star hotels.
Lovely location, beautiful country house
Room was a little run down, noisy plumbing. Carpet strip in doorway to bathroom exposed. Bath didn’t drain properly.
Breakfast- not advertised that although you book for breakfast included, you are only entitled to a continental breakfast, it’s an extra £10 per person for anything cooked. People need to to be made aware of this at the point of booking, in order to avoid embarrassment as this is highlighted in front of the entire breakfast room.
I didn’t like the fact that I paid a significant extra amount of money to have a bath, however we stayed for 3 nights and there was no hot water for a bath at any point over the 3 days. I highlighted this to staff and they came up to the room and turned on the sink and shower taps and said I may need to do do this to get hot water in the bath, but even that didn’t work ! One packet of biscuits in a room booked for two ? The bar is definitely not adequately stocked - we arrived on a Thursday for a Friday wedding and they ran out of a variation of drinks within an hour !
Beautiful building in a lovely location, we were there for wedding and it was lovely. Friendly staff.
It’s obviously an older building and some issues with flooding which needs to be addressed. Our room was beautiful but had some of the plaster on ceiling hanging off. (Wasn’t dangerous). We booked with breakfast included and when we turned up for breakfast was told this is only continental breakfast and had to pay an additional fee for full breakfast. We paid extra on first day but didn’t realise until next day they had overcharged us as the menu said £10 per person extra and we were charged £11 per person which may not seem much but the original booking cost was quite expensive. The breakfast was lovely but not worth the price tag.
Beautiful place/setting Friendly staff Deer park Wedding breakfast lovely
It said 'breakfast included' but they charged extra for full English! They should state 'continental breakfast included' The room rates were expensive enough & although all rooms were nice, some had better facilities & views but were cheaper than those without ! It's a shame because other than that it's a lovely place in a beautiful setting.A lot of people chose to go to Burley cafe for breakfast which is just at the bottom of Burley Manor driveway & turn left.
The building, area, village, ambience, room size, robes and staff.
Couldn’t access our balcony. Door wedges in the room would be handy…wedding party…people in and out and carry stuff etc
Views and scenery
It’s very very tired shabby and old fashioned everything is either chipped or broken, there was an iron burn in carpet and quite stained , Know hot water in sink and bath and shower was okay! . The restaurant was not all all organised evening dinner was quite good but very expensive for what it was ! Breakfast very chaotic to say the least took an hour to get our breakfast when we did it wasn’t just about warm! Then in came a well known celebrity who people recognised and she shouted at us all : ok stop staring at me I’m going somewhere else made us feel very uncomfortable really did ! Won’t be going back anytime soon it was nothing like I had hoped for and definitely not worth the money we paid for it !!!!
Beautiful setting, traditional style in its own grounds , free parking on site, luggage was carried on request
No lift , but was informed in advance
Location great , Beautiful views we also saw the dear out by the gardens .(lovely) Staff great
It was lovely and old but needs a lot of attention to it. It could be fantastic place if money spent on it The bed was so hard , didn’t sleep . We ordered prawn sandwiches. Which we got but had raw and cooked prawns in .not good , I took it back after I had noticed as didn’t taste good.carpets up stair in the landing stained quite bad .
Location. Open fire place.
Toiletries at the hand basin and shower cubical. Nothing where the bath was. Drinks asked for at the bar didn’t arrive.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere and great location for a visit to the new forest and surrounding areas
The location is beautiful, easy to find
Fire alarm at 07:00 woke us. Not the staff fault ? But was our one night honeymoon.
Staff attitude and service very good. Food good.
Condition of room, peeling paintwork, cracks and loose plaster. Cobwebs hanging from ceiling, overall cleanliness. Considering the price charged for two nights which was extortionate for the quality of the supposed Deluxe Bedroom then to find on checking in this did not include the breakfast cost. The hotel refunded the 1st breakfast cost and we declined the 2nd and when local to find an alternative.
They had a free of charge electric port
The continental breakfast could have been a bit better. More options.
We loved the deers and the pigs on the grounds, nice pool area and great location
The rooms could do with a Neaten up, we didn’t have food so we couldn’t rate this
It was very small with no space to place anything like toiletries etc.
Better planned space
Room was lovely, very comfy bed, beautiful view. Delicious breakfast - note if you book through Booking.com you pay extra for cooked.
Continental breakfast just adequate, room spacious and well heated, hotel in great location.
Breakfast options could be lot better e.g. selection of fresh bread, more fresh fruit, variety of yogurts and better quality coffee. Washbasin stopper in room faulty preventing water draining away.
