Fabulous stay. Room was spacious and had everything you needed. Bed was comfortable with quality bedding. Food was top quality and excellent value for money. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice. Special thanks to Frankie on reception who was very welcoming and efficient. We will definitely be returning.

Great location, welcoming & friendly staff, lovely old building with race horse theme throughout. Good selection of tasty food on the menu, served efficiently and cheerfully in the restaurant. Comfortable bedroom and shower room in period furnishings.

A few potholes in the car park and entrance. Otherwise, nothing to complain about.

Real ale pub in a nice small village.

The maintenance was poor and the room was far too hot and very difficult to cool down. On arrival they asked for a bank card and appeared to note the information manually which is unacceptably insecure.

Food and staff were excellent. Good parking.

Location suited our travel plans. Quirky decor and friendly atmosphere, there is an elephant in the toilet!!! See photo Food was excellent and served with a smile this includes a superb breakfast.

The Black Horse Inn is a hidden gem! Set in a beautiful quintessential English village, with very friendly local people. The Inn is tastefully decorated with lots of different areas to sit and eat for those looking for a quiet dinner for two to a full party of family or friends just wanting to catch up and enjoy the atmosphere! The staff are super helpful and always willing to accommodate where possible. Fantastic food although a small menu for vegans, the kitchen is always happy to cater where they can for us non meat and dairy folks! Highly recommend staying at this gem of place!

Honestly haven't got any gripes about this place! Perhaps more options for Vegan food would be good - especially if the Sunday Roast menu had the Yorkshire Pudding as a vegan option!

We had a very good meal on Sunday engine in the bar, staff were excellent. We slept very well in a lovely room and enjoyed a very good streak the next day We will be returning to the Black Horse in the future

Impressive large room, excellent food and lovely staff. Field at the rear for walking the dogs was an added bonus.

Doordat het erg warm geweest was was de kamer ook warm en er waren weinig mogelijkheden voor extra ventilatie

Really comfortable rooms, full of charachter and spotlessly clean. Easy check in. Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly and made us feel wrlcome. We had our evening meal there, there was plenty of variety on the menu and the portions were ample and the service first class. The location was ideal for our purpose and all in all it was great and I would highly recommend

What is not to like!!!!!! Rooms very individual, comfortable, clean and well appointed. Staff are friendly and efficient...food is absolutely great......and all just off the A1 in a beautiful part of the country.

A lovely country inn in a nice location deep in the countryside. We were staying for a wedding nearby but we were given such a lovely large room that it felt like a holiday, we especially liked the separate TV lounge area.

The breakfast was quite basic, the kind you would get in any hotel. The room was quite hot, a fan would be useful, also a lamp near the TV so you don't have to have the big light on. Additionally we were disappointed not to be able to store our luggage after check out, we had wanted to go for a walk and then have lunch but had to immediately call a taxi and go, and when we were waiting for our taxi we were even shooed off the table we were waiting at because they were reserved, despite the pub not being open yet. It just felt a little inhospitable and like they wanted rid of us.

Staff were fantastic - all extremely friendly and went out of their way to help. Food highly recomended - we ate in restaurant 3 nights and stayed for 4 breakfasts - all had great quality produce which was cooked well. Plenty of choice on evening menu to suit most tastes. ( The restaurant was popular - so suggest booking in advance to avoid disapointment). Rooms of a good size and very comfortable with quirky decor - we were happy that our room has separate shower and bath. Plenty of Yorkshire tea & milk provided in the room and topped up daily. Coffee machine with pods and hot chocolate sachets also provided.

Minor supply chain issue with baked beans not being delivered in time for cooked breakfast for the first few days. This was out of the pubs control but staff took steps to resolve this by the end of our stay. The breakfast menu had plenty of tasty alternatives, so wasn't a big problem. On one night the people in the room above us were noisy with loud voices until early hours of the morning. Seemed to be a one -off and not repeated on other nights.

Lovely property with very friendly staff. Very nice large room Kauto Star. We stayed there on one of the hottest weekends with 2 dogs and the room was spacious for us all and lovely clean and had everything we needed from tea and coffee facilities was like a little apartment.

We liked all of it the only thing we didn’t agree with is we have two dogs and was charged per dog per night but the room needs cleaning after 1 dog or 2 dogs it’s the same cleaning procedures. But we would still go back as it was a lovely friendly place and the food was fantastic breakfast was great and gave out dogs sausages.

Ambiance, food & room made it a very relaxing stay

Have stayed here twice before & always enjoyed however this time an older member of staff, not with a local accent, came across abrupt & rude in the way he spoke to you when explaining things. Another member of staff explained the same reasoning in a polite manner.

Excellent friendly staff, quality beer and wine choice. Atmosphere in the pub was good too. Nice rooms, quirky too, we stayed in the coach house. Parking was plentiful and easy.

Food choice on the menu could have been better, quite limited options although the food quality was good. A podded coffee machine would be a nice addition.

The location was nice, the staff were friendly. The room was clean and tidy, as was the pub/restaurant. Parking was very easy. The shergar room has its own garden with a seated area too.

Pet hate for the wife, No long mirror in the bedroom 😭. Sadly served a burnt starter at dinner which literally left a bad taste in the mouth. However it was swapped when we complained and an apology given.

The room was very hot and there was't a fan. We could hear the taps being turned on in the next room to ours. We were expecting to stay in the pub but were taken to a cottage further down the lane.

The staff are very good and helpful

We were here in January and couldn’t fault it that’s why we booked again but we noticed a few things that had not been as good as last time, the standard of room cleaning was quite poor. We were there for 3 nights and the towels was never changed we had to ask for clean towels. Also we had to ask for toilet rolls as they were never replaced.

Visiting the area that I lived at when I was younger this property was an excellent choice for our overnight stay, room was beautiful, staff very friendly and helpful the food was on another level. This was our second visit but will not be the last.

The only problem was that there was a group having a meal just outside our window and as the night progressed they were a little rowdy.

Our only gripe was the property advertised breakfast is served between 8am & 10am. Unfortunately we could not stay for the first night but arrived at the property at 9.30am the following morning. We were declined breakfast and no refund. That was not a great start.

Our one night stay in the Black Horse Inn was excellent, the food was excellent and the room could not be any better. Checking in was simple and the staff were all very helpful.

The room was fantastic and the bed was very comfy. The location was good and the pub was very nice with a good choice of food and drinks.

Not much really, the only thing was i could hear the guy in the next room talking and snoring but that was probably because he was very loud.

It was let down a bit this time I’m afraid . We go away a lot and stay in lots of pubs and hotels and have never come across this before. It was let down by a local whom didn’t know us and was rude. Nasty comment made to hubby who was waiting at the bar minding his own business. Honestly i do not expect that in a village pub. Especially a well to do one. I know not pubs fault but it made my hubby feel really uncomfortable. And it was from a well to do older gentleman which honestly you wouldn’t expect . probably trying to make himself be a funny man in front of his friends at the expense of my husband. We don’t pay money to stay somewhere to be humiliated. Just such a pity because it really is a lovely place.

The breakfast choice was very good as was the food. We also had an enjoyable dinner and wouldn't hesitate in returning.

We were there to attend a wedding at a local wedding venue and the location of the Black Horse was good

Levendig country hotel in een heel rustig dorp. Veel parkeerplaats. Fijne buitenplaats om te zitten, open of overdekt. Vriendelijk personeel. Prima eten, wat vlot op tafel staat!

Er is 1 laadpunt in het dorp (eVolt), maar dat werkte niet met mijn NL kaarten. Gelukkig zijn er bij Leeming Bar wel rapid charge punten.
