The Elvetham Hotel is beautiful situated in a stunning location for sure! In my personal humble opinion, what is there not to like🤷♀️ As I have stated from a previous stay, I cannot fault this amazing historic hotel whatsoever - from the overall ambience of this incredible venue to The Management and their entire team!! The cuisine alone which is prepared with local ingredients (obviously where possible) where the attention to detail along with being beautifully presented and of course tasting delicious on all counts from breakfast to lunch to their afternoon tea! I have yet to have an evening meal here but with my above praise, I have absolute confidence that their evening menu will be everything I have stated above! I have never stayed at a hotel venue whereby The Management along with their entire team have gone that extra mile for all their guests including their four legged ones🐕 I am not one who gives praise lightly or easily but with The Elvetham I have (with deliberate intent) also gone that extra mile here because once again, my entire stay has been exceptional - PERIOD!!!!

Peaceful location.
No hot water, cold breakfast, no one able windows in our room.
An absolutely beautiful Hotel, in a stunning location. We stayed in the stables and the rooms had a lovely nod to its history with horse themed decor. The gardens are immaculate and definitely should be on anyone's to do list while they are there.
Couldn’t fault anything.. perfect place for a short stay
We spent one night at Elsenham Hotel and it was such a lovely stay. The estate is gorgeous, with a stunning historic main building that feels straight out of a countryside postcard. The staff were super friendly, and breakfast was genuinely delicious. A perfect little country‑estate escape.
Only dog frindly (not pet friendly)
De locatie, de entourage en het ontbijt
Raam op kamer kon niet open Tegels in vloer badkamer zaten deels los In de ochtend was er alleen koud water in de douche
History
Breakfast
Location, surrounding land, beautiful manicured gardens. Delicious food in bar and restaurant.
Room was a bit warm as air con fixed at 18 degrees.
Lots of history within the building to look at as well as nice grounds to walk around in.
It would be a good idea to remove outside seating away from the dinning room doors. We had to experience other guest smoking outside by the doors which were open due to being a hot day which isn’t nice when you’re trying to enjoy your food.
Beautiful
Stairs
Location
There were used towels in the bathroom. For this type of hotel, the food was indifferent and disappointing
The grounds
The air con didn't work
Beautiful location and hotel. We could only fit in an overnight stay, no dinner or breakfast, but just to be in such an historical building for a few hours made it a really worthwhile stop over.
Nothing
Lovely setting and fascinating old buildings
Bed far too hard.
This was our second stay at The Elvetham, and this time we stayed in the Stables, which we enjoyed; albeit the main hotel building is of incomparable grandeur. We love the hotel’s incredible history. The 5 km walk around the grounds is one of the highlights of staying here - absolutely beautiful.
The shower was clogged, and the water wasn’t draining properly. That said we did not report it to the reception.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was during the hottest day of the recent heatwave, and our room was uncomfortably hot when we arrived. When we asked for help with this, the housekeeping staff spared no effort in finding mobile air conditioning units and fans for the room, giving us a comfortable night. The buildings and grounds were lovely, including a shady garden with deck chairs provided. The food and service at dinner and breakfast were excellent.
Nothing
Wonderful Architecture and Tradition, nice room (had one in the stable), a very delicious dinner and breakfast!
There was a slight musty smell in the room, possibly coming from the air conditioning.
The location, the surroundings, and the presentation of the hotel.
Beautiful grounds. Room was perfect. Food and service was good.
Smoking tables were right outside the open doors to the restaurant which was horrible when having a meal.
The setting is fabulous and perfect for our family celebration. The staff were all extremely attentive and made our stay very pleasant and our family event a great success.
Nothing
The understanding of staff, and the ambiance of the place.
Nothing
The property and surroundings are stunning.
Our room felt a little shabby in places. We were in the stables and some parts (doorways, hallways) were a little rundown or broken and parts of our room felt shabby.
Location
Tv didn’t work, bed small, shower small, window overlooked another wall, cobwebs on windows, window frames rotten. Decor is awful. Hotel building is beautiful but rooms are like travel lodge. I’d never stay here again.
Visited with my wife for our anniversary. The staff made us feel very special the whole time. We stayed in the Seymour Suite which was fantastic. Complimentary breakfast and a cosy atmosphere the whole time. Even managed to fit in a little murder mystery case file at the bar one evening.
It had a pleasant old world feel to it.
I wasn’t clear till the end whether we did get the room we paid for! Their website said the executive king rooms were on the ground floor. The staff said the website is incorrect. We stayed on the first floor.
Amazing historic stately home . Fantastic decor. The fairy trail entranced my grandson
We just had buffet breakfast which was a bit limited on choice of food. Shower temperature a bit difficult to control.
The hotel was a huge surprise really exceeding our expectations as we drove into the grounds the buildings were stunning, steeped in history, and tucked away from the crowds it felt very special. The staff were warm and welcoming and made sure we had all we needed. We arrived late in the evening and just had time to have a drink in the lounge bar before wandering into the garden terrace area. Our bedroom was nicely appointed the bed comfortable.
The breakfast was not worthwhile it was a bit disappointing as there was no wow factor. Considering it was summer I would have at least thought that maybe they should have had a bowl of fresh fruit and some healthy options other then a full English breakfast and dry cereals & plastic yogurt pots etc but they didn't.
Absolutely beautiful
Nothing at all
Ot is just tge perfect home from home
Very nice air conned room upon arrival, amazing walks on grounds and near by.
Bar staff wasn’t very professional and lack of garnish for drinks like gin and tonic was a bit of a downer
La beauté du lieu et le caractère historique, le calme
Outstanding
All good
We attended a dinner party in the church. The venue was beautiful and the event was beautiful.
The bar prices are rather high!
Spacious
Somewhat of a time-warp
Beautiful hotel with stunning grounds, friendly staff, lovely rooms and fantastic breakfast!

The breakfast was absolutely the best.We stayed in the Stables unfortunately we didnt realise there were stairs but my 87yr old Mum did it as she is determined. The room was lovely and cool with the air con.The room was immaculate and the building is absolutely stunning.Really enjoyed our stay
Design of hotel, gardens, staff, location, restaurant
Nothing
We had the most wonderful night staying at the Elvetham in the Seymour suite. It was perfect, and the additional afternoon tea was so nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful and really made our stay special.
Nothing
Lovely situation and nice rooms
Parking for the Stables, as got back Saturday evening and had to leave my elderly partner outside leaning on his stick while I parked the car in the main car park, and walked back to our room. When we left Sunday morning, I had to fetch the car back over to load up, leaving him standing with our luggage outside. It was a good job it wasn’t raining,or wintertime. I am not young myself, and although we love the hotel, are not likely to stay again because of the lack of parking near to our room in the Stables, which we need as on ground floor. Also our television wasn’t working when we arrived. Called reception who got maintainance to visit and was fixed with new batteries for the remote by a very helpful young man. Maybe check everything is working before checkin?
Very helpful staff
Nothing to note
Historic building
Is not as luxurious as it seems. Food, rooms and service are quite basic
The Elvetham is a genuinely beautiful hotel — the interior is old, characterful, and very pretty, and the grounds are lovely to walk around, especially in the evening. The gardens and plants around the restaurant added a really nice touch to mealtimes, and it was lovely that the hotel is dog friendly. Our room was clean with a lovely bathroom, and it was a nice touch to have water provided. Food was a real highlight — Friday dinner was incredible, and the evening bar staff were fun, chatty, and welcoming. Breakfast was good overall, and staff kindly sorted out gluten-free toast for me. The spa was another highlight — the massage was lovely and the therapist was really nice (the bamboo massage had me giggling, I'm quite ticklish!).
That said, there were a few things that fell short. The room ran quite warm and the air conditioning wasn't up to the job — a fan would have made a big difference. Water pressure was a bit mixed, which was surprising given how few guests seemed to be staying — with a fuller hotel, it's hard to imagine how stretched it would be. We were also woken around midnight by guests next door trying (and failing) to get into their room, which was disappointing. Breakfast service was noticeably better on Saturday than Sunday — dietary requirements were clearly labelled on Saturday but not on Sunday, and I only managed because I remembered from the day before, having had to ask for the gluten-free option in the first place. Background music with adverts playing was a bit annoying, and the car park, while easy enough to get into, felt quite full for the number of guests staying — clearer signage for an overflow car park would help, as it wasn't obvious which turn to take. Overall, a genuinely lovely stay in a stunning setting, though it falls slightly short in places given the price of the rooms.
The location the architecture the main building the grounds
You could not open the window in the bedroom and had to have aircon on instead, no bath tub , the food despite being fresh and good lacked of seasoning ( chunky chips not good ) , the wine we chose was very average
A lovely Victorian pile! - with attractive grounds.
Had to wait a while to get a drink in the bar
The property was set in beautiful surroundings however there was no air conditioning in the main house and I was placed in a room that was 29 degrees. Even with the window open there was no air so I did not sleep well. I had a lovely evening meal and walk but would have been more comfortable in a cooler room.
We liked everything. Location, setting, grounds, staff delightful and helpful, food good. Really good stay.
Room was great, outdoor space was lovely and a great 5k loop for an evening stroll
Nothing
An amazing location, set in spacious green gardens and woodland, with a beautiful setting. Loads of outdoor space for the children to enjoy. A nice bar with terrace to sit and enjoy evening drinks and snacks. Breakfast was excellent, a reasonable sized buffet with lots of choices and excellent quality produce.
Grounds are beautiful, lovely building.
Bed was small and hard. Limited tea tray, no extras in the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant (we are a party of 8) all the starters arrived except my husbands. We ordered a red wine and they bought a fortified wine which was more like a port. Loud music at 1am,no phone in room so had to call from mobile. They did sort the noise out. Lots of cobwebs and generally not very clean.
Huge gardens and amazing architecture .
Love place
Nothing
Easy to get to and superb location with old world charm.
The restaurant service was a little slow.
Fantastic historical building with great grounds. Young staff on duty were without exception a study in great customer care and service.
Room was tired, a lot of mould in the bathroom,
Grounds were well maintained.
This place should be absolutely incredibly but, sadly, it's clearly being managed poorly and suffers as a consequence. The building and surroundings are amazing, the rooms are pretty good though are showing signs of neglect but the restaurant is shocking. The menu was very poor and what was delivered was even worse. No chef has been involved in creating anything tempting and, as a consequence, what the employed chefs deliver barely meets harvester standards.
Beautiful property
Arrival at reception poor. Lad gave us iPad told us to sign it. Said our room was in the stables that was it. When I worked in hotels we asked about dinner, passed on breakfast times, asked for a swipe of a credit card so we could charge to the room. Apparently now this is not the case. We went to the bar and ordered wine and sandwiches. I ordered some nuts to have whilst waiting for food they didn’t arrive. When our sandwiches arrived I said don’t worry about the nuts but can you make sure I am not charged for them. On check out I checked they were still there. When I explained the receptionist took this from the bill no apology was given. When we had sandwiches we watched staff serve drinks from trays yet ignore dirty tables full of glasses. We even watched two male staff move a table to another area and leave the glasses on another table full of glasses. Feel as the there was a lack of management and customer service throughout. Breakfast products were fairly average and service again chaotic. One waitress continually filled a tray to over flowing then went looking for a male colleague to carry. If she filled the tray less and took it to the kitchen I’m sure the job would be done quicker and better.
Architecture ++!
We were only able to stay one night. It is a great hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful grounds. Food in the restaurant was good.
Room was shabby and in desperate need of a refresh. It had been cleaned but there were hair pins all over the floor so clearly missed by the vacum. The bedding had fluff inside when we opened the covers, the windows were covered in spider webs and on the outside of the sash window (room 211) there was a slipper and an old cloth clearly visible. The interior had scuff marks on the walls and furniture. Not worth the money we paid especially as it was a special occasion. Felt more like a budget hotel. Pillows were terrible too. Limited menu. Shame that some windows were blown in the restaurant so could not see the view. on the other side it looked out on what looked like a storage area, very messy and an eyesore. Will not be back. Wish we had chosen somewhere else fir our 10 wedding anniversary getaway.
The gardens are beautiful. Good location
Executive king room in the stable block was poorly equipped. The fridge didn’t work. The hair dryer was a fire and electrocution risk - PAT test out of date, the on/off button was taped down so could only turn it off at the main switch. Meagre coffee/milk supplies. No blind at one of the windows. AND no spare toilet roll- luckily I had a box of tissues. The reception staff were uninterested in any problems. Seemed to be poorly trained. A few errors were made by the restaurant staff, both at dinner and breakfast. Took over 15minutes to get a cup of coffee at breakfast and we were one of first to arrive. Overall very disappointing for such a lovely setting.
The complimentary upgrade to the Seymour suite was great.
The dinner and breakfast were both dreadful. It is a lovely building in great surroundings but is let down by absence of professional hotel management.
We always enjoy staying at The Elvetham. It’s a beautiful hotel with wonderful grounds and dog friendly too!
A minor point but we noticed staff were very slow to clear glasses and plates from the garden/terrace area - for example we had a cream tea and when we walked through the terrace 2 hours later the used dishes etc were still there.
Absolutely beautiful building and grounds. Our room was in the stables which was outside of the main building. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovely dinner in the restaurant (not included but very reasonably) and excellent breakfast which was included. Sat outside in the summer evening in the garden with a cocktail and it felt magical!
The bathroom could be updated but was fine.
Beautiful setting, lovely buildings, nicely presented!
Did not use for breakfast so unable to rate.
That you are unable to use cash at all.
Unfortunately the aircon didn't work. The room was seriously infested with ants. Spent a sleepless night flicking ants of our very hot bodies. The lights in the room were very harsh and no delicate side lights.
I was very disappointed because I specifically booked to have air-conditioning. The room was stifling, a very noisy fan was provided. It was a very disappointing stay. Staff were apologetic about the ants but I really shouldn't have paid for the room. I am hoping to get an apology from them because I have stayed before but I regret returning.
Beauty, quality, staff
Stairs were not suitable for us. Will ask for ground floor next time.
Everything
Very pretty
There was a business Simon which meant we couldn’t sit outside
The heritage,settings and location
My bedroom had ants in the en-suite and the air conditioning did not work and was inadequate which lead to sleepless nights
Everything, it's my favourite hotel anywhere.
Nothing.
Old world charm in a modern setting.
Everything perfect .
The womderful history. The lovely garden/view. The reception rooms so steeped in history. The sympathic way that the building has been changeed for 'modern; use without taking away it character.
Unable to get warm/hot water in the wash basin unless the tap was fully on. Then the water was so firece as it came out it sprayed me & the bathroom floor. As it was hot weather it didn't matter too much but would not have been good if it was winter
Hotel situated on a beautiful estate, well kept.
Stayed here on one of the first warm days of the summer 2026. Booked it amongst other practicalities because of its AC. They however did not work. Can happen but stayed here with 2 kids (1,5y and 4y) in a room with 28+ degrees and staff did not take it very seriously. Promised to get in touch afterwards never heart a thing.
Chambre agréable dans un bâtiment dans le temps sur un parc merveilleux. Avec une jolie chapelle. Un lieu inoubliable
Beautiful location
An amazing* location , full of history , beautifully kept grounds
They only offered an a la carte menu , when there were other options , bit sneaky
Fantastic venue
Everything was good

Lovely setting and attentive staff
Could have been cleaner. Had to move rooms due to cobwebs, live spiders in the shower and hair still on duvet. Second room was much smaller with TV that didn't work properly and it was not serviced ready for our second morning.
What a treat to stay at a classic manor house steeped in centuries of history. The rooms and grounds are really well kept and full of detail. Loved having the informational booklet in the room to tell the story of the estate. Recommended as a reasonably priced manor house stay. Staff was generous and friendly!
The food was just ok.
Amazing
The. setting.
Bed and pillows too hard. Chaotic breakfast. The staff seemed surprised by how busy it was but should surely have been aware of how many guests they had staying with them!
Great scenery, architecture and backdrop. Breakfast was great too
This place was amazing. It’s a magnificent heritage property with history and grandeur. Beautiful grounds to stroll around and a delicious restaurant on site.
Beautiful location
Excellent period property, fabulous grounds and quality evening meal and breakfast.
