Great location in the heart of Fox township. Andy, the owner, was very helpful with local recommendations such as sightseeing, helicopter flights, and restaurants. Our accommodation was spacious and looked to be newly refurbished. Very welcoming extra touches, dressing gowns, coffee pod machine, etc

Great views of the mountains with snow on them!

Though we did not use much the kitchen facilities but I reckoned it is a perfect kitchen for family outings ! Very happy with this compleneness. and also , just steps away from the best restaurant Betsey Jane Eatery & Bar, the food is fantasic !!!

The bathroom floor - I had a fall stepping out of the bath area, as the floor is just TOOOOO slippery even with just a few drops of water. I know there is a bathroom mat there, but it's too small to cover the water trail from the bath area to the mirror area. I literally slipped over 2 ft backwards; luckily, I didn't hit my head (the bathroom is spacious :-)) I am wondering who would put that type of tiles as bathroom tiles !!!! Please do something about it , thanks!

Absolutely everything, the views were stunning. Bed was comfy, the bathroom was nice and spacious. The apartment was overall lovely and had everything we needed.

No Electric Blanket on our bed in Room 4 my feet froze so had to put socks on.

This was a super place to stay for visiting both glaciers. The room was large with a lounge, bedroom and well equipped kitchen. Bed was comfortable and the shower was probably the best we've had in all of our travels. There are restaurants close by and a small store. Franz Josef is about 20km away. Plenty of walks in the area. Highly recommended

The locations and breathtaking views behind the motel. Comfortable bed and beautifully decorated room. Andy is a top bloke who manages and runs the place. We had the pleasure to listen him sing in the morning and patted Bella which was a treat!

The heating was on when we arrived, along with ambient lighting, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lovely furnishings made the space feel both cosy and modern. The location was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. We also appreciated the thoughtful extra touches, such as the biscuits and complimentary bottled water.

Lost power which happens often enough according to locals. This motel has no back up power sources but other accommodation places near by do.

Stayed here for two nights. I arrived a bit shell shocked as I had driven through some fairly awful weather and road closures but the temperature had increased by the time I got to the motel, and the wind had died down, and it had dried up a lot of the excessive rainfall. The owner/manager was very welcoming and informative about local sights. The motel has rooms / apartments in about 3 small blocks laid out around a nice peaceful garden with some bird life, I saw Bell Birds there. If you are visiting Fox Glacier the shop is fairly limited but the cooking facilities in my room were great - microwave, hob, toaster and electric slow cooker - just a shame there was not much food to buy to cook! But that is not an issue for the motel to resolve. Everything was clean and not showing any signs of wear and tear. I also had a lovely new towelling robe in my room and it was one of the few motels I stayed in on my trip that had a bath sheet as well as bath towels. There was an effective heater on the wall, another in the bathroom and electric blankets on the beds. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. The TV had some Sky channels as well as Freeview, but also Netflix etc to log into if you wanted. This would be a good place to stay if you are planning on staying in Fox Glacier.

Clean and spacious accommodation. Car parking at front door. Walking distance to township and short drive to Lake Matheson. Would definitely stay again.

Although we did not expect it to be luxurious for the price, the lack of attention given to cleaning and maintenance was disappointing. The fridge, for example, was covered in mould and there is no way we would have placed any food in there

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Great unit, comfy, clean, great facilities, and excellently located to town. Awesome staff, which shows in the pride taken with the management and sevicing of the motels. Will definately stay here whenever passing thru.

Beautiful small town and views

When we arrived, there was no one at the reception. We waited for more than 30 minutes because the owner was mowing the lawn, and there was no sign or notice to let guests know when he would be back. When we checked in, the unit we were given was different from the one we had booked. The unit wasn’t clean — the bathroom was clearly not properly cleaned, the whole place hadn’t been vacuumed, and the microwave wasn’t working. The only positive thing was that the beds were nicely made. Overall, the stay was just okay, but it could have been much better

The motel was very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and in a perfect location - Restaurants within walking distance. The owner was super friendly and gave great directions and advice on where to go and what to visit. We will most definitely be back!

The gentleman (sorry I’m terrible with names) was so helpful and friendly it was late when we arrived and he supplied us with an extra milk as nothing was open he then walked us to our room and surprised us with a box of toys for my grandson to play with during our stay. The room was clean and had the most luxurious towels. I would highly recommend staying here the location is amazing, walking distance to everything.

Andy was an exceptional host, the location is great and the rooms are comfortable, equipped with everything you may need.

We had a wonderful stay at Rainforest Motel and honestly wished we had planned to stay longer. We arrived in Fox Glacier at around 5pm and had to leave the next morning at 10am, so our time there was very limited. However, the owner, Mr. Andy, was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and hospitable. After learning that we only had a short stay, he thoughtfully recommended Betsey Jane Eatery & Bar next to the motel for dinner, which turned out to be an excellent suggestion. After dinner, we sat outside our room and were amazed by the beautiful starry sky in the peaceful darkness of Fox Glacier. The next morning, we followed Mr. Andy’s recommendations to visit a nearby lake and viewpoint, where we enjoyed stunning glacier scenery before continuing our journey. The motel itself was spotlessly clean, comfortable and surprisingly well-equipped. From the outside, it may appear simple and modest, but once inside, we were genuinely impressed by the quality of the facilities and the attention to comfort. It truly felt like a hidden gem surrounded by nature. We were extremely satisfied with the overall experience and felt it offered outstanding value for money. If I were to suggest one small improvement, it would be adding an extractor fan in the bathroom for extra comfort. Overall, this was a fantastic stay, and one of our only regrets was not planning to stay for 3 days and 2 nights instead of such a short visit.

Comfy beds , fluffy towels

Fantastic host and owner made us feel right at home, even offered us to use a shower after checking out and walking the copland track. Great value for money and right in the centre of town without being on the main road

Best property in our entire trip to New Zealand, regardless of price range. The rooms are so beautiful with loads of amenities. Heck they even have dyson hair dryer and room fan (heater, cooler). The owner is kind and talkative, he made sure we feel comfortable. Property is amazing and has benches to sit and soak in the views. Don’t even think of booking any other stay while visiting Fox glacier, it was just perfect.

This was the best place we stayed at out of 9 properties in New Zealand. The location and grounds were so beautiful with large green lawns and a mountain view that we could see from our room. It was so quiet and peaceful. Our rooms were large. The kitchen facilities had everything we needed. The bathroom was modern with nice ceramic tiling and a strong, hot shower. The owner, Andy, is so helpful. He booked a last minute helicopter flight for us.

Great location ! Good room size. Comfortable bed. Very good wifi. Very pleased to see a Nespresso machine, pods and milk frother. Bath robes as well. Andy and his team are very efficient. They are doing the most to keep the property clean and welcoming. Laundry and dryer available for $2 each. We really enjoyed our stay and ended up staying an extra night. Would come back anytime.
