I did not like the fact that the price that was given to me on booking.com was not what I had to pay: there should be clear open pricing formula and not calculated prices based on dollar rates. Also room smelled musty.

A very welcoming host who greeted us with refreshing drinks on arrival. The hotel was clean, spacious, and overall offered a great experience. It is also within walking distance to the nearby beach. The property is located next to a railway track, which even provides a picture square opportunity. The adjacent restaurant, Amal, serves delicious food with Thai options also available. I personally enjoyed the cabin with a balcony, which was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sea breeze. Highly recommended for families and groups of friends.

Location and room size

1. No Wi-Fi since check-in; manager responded rudely when informed. 2. Reception is often unattended; no one available to assist. 3. Restaurant had only one fan; manager justified it due to low staff, spoke rudely. 4. Room was not cleaned despite multiple requests; manager refused and yelled. Also made an inappropriate remark: “you all Indian people are same.” 5. No fans in or outside the room despite very hot weather; uncomfortable stay. 6. No in-house restaurant, making it difficult especially with a child. 7. Delivery personnel not allowed inside at night; had to go out to collect food.

The room was very spacious, perfect for a family or couple or groups. The hotel itself is beautiful and the location exceptional. The food was good and they made amazing fish and schnitzel.

Very kind owners. We had the standard room and it was perfect! Airconditioning works really well so is the hot water. The entrance to the beach is amazing! There are several sunbeds available and we were never without one. Would definitely come back!

The hosts were kind and demonstrated true Sri Lankan hospitality. . Great after a long day out to be able to come back to the hotel and relax before a really good evening meal. The staff were all polite and respectful. cabana is amazing!! Very friendly staff, large rooms, nice bathroom, comfortable beds and a private parking.

It’s a nature friendly location and a very convenient. everything! clean, accommodating and pleasant. Great location as it is in the sea area. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again!

The beach was lovely.

They chained and padlocked the gates in the evening without warning (we were still out) we tried to get in at around 10.00pm. Rattled the gates and shouted but no answer. Had to walk a long way round to the beach and down the train track to get in via the back gate, which isn’t safe at night in my opinion. The AC unit outside of our room was incredibly noisy and I’m pretty confident they took advantage and over changed us for the laundry they arranged. The rate quoted was correct (per Kg) however they said it weighed 7kg. It definitely did not! The breakfast is ok, the beach is excellent.

Great experience and wonderful hospitality..The staff were so friendly and guided us through our trip. I was so pleased with my room. The facilities were top notch. Even had the necessities like kettle, some towels and an iron. The room size was worth every dime.

Terrible experience, unprofessional management...nobody was there ar hotel reception after 5pm till morning 10am..we were charged for water bottles even.. pathetic room service. Breakfast was really bad. Ac was not functioning properly as well that we had to vacate the room

Room was big and cleaned when asked.staff are really friendly.breakfast was a bit repetative but nice.on the whole it was a good stay and right by the beach.could do with a bit of renovation but I think covid hit badly and they are struggling.

No POOL! На мой вопрос - а где же бассейн? Был дан идиотский ответ - вон там море, там и купайтесь! Море необорудованное, все очень запущенное, лежаков мало и они обычно поломанные, нормальный есть только один. За кондей требуется доп/оплата 3000 рупий. Холодильника в номере стандарт нет, но хоть разрешили пользоваться холодильником в столовой, но часто его отключали чтобы включить вентилятор. В целом персонал старается помочь, однако руководство недружелюбно. Больше чем на 1 ночь останавливаться смысла нет.

I stayed in this property for three days.this property has good location.This property has some pbms which the owner should look into it. The sign board and entrance is invisible. This is old British time building but try to make some changes to look like hotels. one side of entrance is dump with old and broken furnitures. The sign board need to be changed because it loose the colors. The back yard and deluxe room are well maintained.

The rooms, the floors, the bathroom, the bed were dirty. The lady at the reception was terribly rude making fun of the complaints in her own language and says "This is not my problem" to the things you ask for. It was a total disappointment. I would not recommend it, anyone, unless one wants to ruin his/her holiday. Stay away!!!

The hotel is one of the cutest places you’ll ever be to. They sent a pick up from the airport for $69 extra with the nicest driver ever. We landed at an unearthly 1.45AM and reached the hotel by about 4.30AM. They had the keys ready for us and we were given Cabana 11 on the first floor. The cabana sadly has bad locks on the door and despite much trying we couldn’t get to lock the door from the inside, which was a cause of worry, but they had been so nice to us we couldn’t muster the courage to start nitpicking at 4.30AM We went to bed and in about 15-20minutes a loud humming rumbling sound started to emanate, I thought it was a tsunami 😂 turned out to be a train, the hotel and the room are almost ON the rail track. The train honks left us uneasy and restless and without sleep. So we got off our backs at around 7.30 and explored the property which is beautiful and just about 50m from the beach (you have to cross the railroad track), the beach is wonderful and not rocky at all. It has lovely sand and I would rate it way better than the beaches in Unawatuna that we had gone to later. The friendly staff is more than happy to pull out the beach chairs and help you with your order or if you’ve forgotten your towel. Overall the rooms, infrastructure and location are possibly a 2/10, but the staff take it above and beyond and make it a clean 7/10.

We saw few pictures on website when we select this place, but actual situation is totally different. Old rooms- not cleaned well. Packed atmosphere. Old and discolored bed linen. Fungal patches over side pillows. Dirty wash room. No information has given. Poor wifi. This is not a place to stay.

We booked because of the pictures shown, and it was nothing like that. It was a run down, broken, almost abandoned looking place with seriously rude staff. The food was bad, the rooms were old and sad, the gardens were unkempt. Just dismal.

Wow . I can’t say anything. That was my second travel to sri lanka . And I can say this city is perfect and this place . Everything was perfect. Location was like heaven. Breakfast was perfect and everything was clean and good . I will back there again I’m sure .

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..... We were surprised when Mrs. NONA took us to our cabana. Its absolutely LUXURIOUS room ever I been in my life. And the beach also very close to the resort. Breakfast was amazing. Special thanks to SARA (receptionist) DEFINITELY WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN. 🏖️🏖️🏝️🏝️🌅🌅

the dinner and breakfast was well taken care by Nona she was very dearly, but the room and bathroom to stay ....the less said better.......the bathroom had no decent shower and neither we had hot water.....there was no basic bathroom toiletries ............absolutely waste by value of money for stay !!

Dirty and terrible hotel, everything is very old, air conditioning did not work normally, a lot of insects and living creatures in the room. The food is just disgusting, the woman who prepared her hands did not wash at all. Near the territory there is a railway, there is a lot of noise from it, there is no pool. I do not recommend !!!

Generally the hotel is a good standard and is in a good location. Rooms are spacious, clean and quiet with comfy beds.The bathroom and the sheets were very clean. Special thanks to the helpful, courteous staff & management for returning my headset which I had left at the hotel. :)

Where to start. Got a deal through Agoda for 2 nights in a cabana and a deluxe room,14k for both nights with bb. The cabana - which has a cozy ambiance with dark lighting and a veranda that was the only plus point…the toilet was unimaginably small where a guy who is 6ft and 105 kg struggled in every aspect you can possibly think of… And the floor is Hardwood which made a huge racket when I was going at it with my lovely wife which didn't help me with my hardwood. So don't book the cabana if you have other plans… The Delux room Which was pretty decent for the price. Basic creature comforts are met… The toilet was huge and that's followed with a but if you are taller than 5'5 the shower is in your mouth which is very uncomfortable. Other than that the room was good…cleanliness of both room I'd rate a hard 7. BB I can simply say it was cute… Had eggs and 2 sausages per guest rule. Had the basic coffee, tea, bread, jam, and fruits. Verdict Staff was good some are very friendly and others are bit shy I guess. Property is absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway… Beach is for both experienced and rookie, need to be careful. With a little bit more effort and upgrades this hotel can turnout to be very worthy. My wife said its not worth the price…

This is an average place to stay. But the beach and the surrounding is very nice and calm. If you want to enjoy beach this ia a very good plqce to be. Nice and big clean room. There is nothing wrong in this place as well as nothing to impress yourself except beach. In this hotel you have to walk 2 mins to beach so there is no any good view from the hotel. Food is also average.

We stayed here for 5 days. Bentota is a quite place, not much restaurants and shop around the area. Palm beach is near the beach just after the railway. The place is relaxing, surrounded by trees. You will hear birds and squirrel in the morning. The room was big and clean but the bed is squeaky, every time you move the it will make sound. One time we ordered nasi goreng for lunch, I didn't like it, it's bland after that we decided to eat outside. The room is not sound proof, you will hear people talking outside, or when the train or bus will pass by. But over all our experience was good, we enjoyed it.

Staff were not helpful. Both manager & chef were on leave. No dinner arranged as restaurant was closed & not informed in advance. WiFi & TV were not working & there was no one to resolve this. Staff don’t know how to respect guests. Overall no value for money.

Alle waren sehr freundlich.wir haben auch ein kostenloser Upgrade bekommen.war einfach und sauber aber wir haben deutlich schönere Unterkünfte für den gleichen Preis gehabt. Besitzer waren sehr bemüht. Abendessen war sehr lecker! Strand war traumhaft und menschenleer da wir in November waren (Vorsaison)

We were staying at this hotel for one night as we are travelling and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were welcoming and accommodating on arrival and throughout our stay. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel is situated on the beach with sunbeds available. It was a great overnight stay, we would would definitely come back!

The worst hotel and service ever! Don't stay there!!! The room we got wasn't the same as on the photo when booking. We felt deceived! Check in was also the slowest ever with an older lady who couldn't understand English and wasn't kind at all. We were looking forward to check out. Expensive for what you get!!! We would suggest hotels.com not to have this hotel in their offer!

Ich habe mir anhand der Bilder mehr von diesem Hotel erhofft. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und war mit einer Klimaanlage und Deckenventilator ausgestattet. Das Bett war ziemlich hart, mag aber jeder anders. Leider funktionierte das kostenlose Wifi nur an der Rezeption und im Restaurant (dort auch nur schwach). Beim Frühstück war die Inhaberin sehr nett, wirkte aber schon fast aufdringlich. In dem Hotel gibt es einen Tuk-Tuk Fahrer, der uns erzählte es wäre ein Hotelservice. Dieser Service kostete aber mehr als Tuk-Tuks, die wir direkt an der Straße anhielten. Auf dem Weg zum Strand sollte man acht vor den vorbeifahrenden Zügen geben!! Es ist kein Warnhinweis angebracht. Erst dachten wir es wäre ein stillgelegtes Gleis, aber dann brauste auf einmal ein Zug an uns vorbei. Der Strandabschnitt ist sehr sauber und mit Liegen und Schirmen ausgestattet.

Fantastisk beliggenhet på den fineste delen av Bentota Beach. Veldig rolige omgivelser, man er nesten alene på stranden! Personalet var fantastiske, ordnet med alt vi hadde behov for! Virkelig en plass verdt å besøke!

Vi blev varmt välkomnade och fick hjälp med väskor, rummet var fint och välstädat. Tyvärr luktade lite konstigt i rummet, vet inte om det var något sorts rengöringsmedel eller fukt, men det gick hur bra som helst att sova. Vi hade ac i vårt rum. Frukost ingick och vi fick snabbt hjälp och frukosten var vanligt turistfrukost som man får i landet. Hotellet är precis vid en järnväg, går några tåg om dagen, men det störde inte oss. Ligger en liten bit från vägen där det är mycket trafik, men det hör man inte alls inne på hotellet.

The key point of this Hotel is its location next to the beach. You leave the hotel garden, pass the train rails and are basically on the beach, which is in wonderful condition (cleanliness, sun beds, etc.) and calm (only few people there, no vendors strolling around). The hotel itself is still in the process of refurbishment. Our room was brand-new refurbished, however, the standard (e.g. bathroom, fridge, AC) was mediocre by best. Additionally, pests were present (mosquitoes, roaches), since you couldn't close windows / doors entirely during the nighttime. That is all fine for a backpacker budget hotel, however, if you charge 75 USD per night like the hotels next to it (Wunderbar Hotel, Amal Hotel), you should meet their higher standards as well. Payment via card wasn't possible, which is ridiculous with that price if you stay some days. I wouldn't recommend it if you get something else in Bentota for the price.

Mauvais rapport qualité/prix, chambre beaucoup trop chère pour la prestation de l'hôtel (aucune). Vous ne faites qu'y dormir, il n'y a rien d'autre à y faire. Statue du patriarche russe à l'entrée. Mince filet d'eau dans la douche, qui fuit. Bonne literie et bonne CLim. Nourriture qui arrive après 1h d'attente minimum et de la saucisse bas de gamme dans les nouilles à la place des crevettes, poulet et calamars!!! Chambre jamais nettoyée ni serviettes changées même après demande, nous avons fini par passer le balai nous même.Pourtant, c'était notre chambre la plus chère au Sri Lanka!

Fantastisk strand. Trevlig personal och tillmötesgående. Ok rum, vi hade standard dubbelrum. Dåligt tryck i duschen.Hade dock ingen koll på vår bokning vi gjort. Och vi fick visa bokningsbekräftelse flera gånger. Och betala rummet kontant. Fanns ingen fungerande kortläsare.

Wery nice place, nice host/hotelowner. She makes nice curry. Authentic place. Quiet beach.
