Kwa'lilas Hotel

Good location, quiet hotel, comfortable beds, and clean. Coffee maker in room, kettle available upon request. No daily maid service - only upon request.

Nice large shower but very slippery when wet and no bars to hold onto which is dangerous. I use a wheelchair and there were no marked handicap parking spots and it was very hard to handle the big heavy doors to the lobby as they had no electric handicap buttons.

Decor and bedding. Liked that we could open the windows in the room and didn't have to use air conditioner.

We asked for our room to be serviced and it wasn't. Had to go to desk and ask for coffee refill, etc. We feel room service should be automatically included, shouldn't have to request it. Would like to have tried the restaurant but it was closed both nights.

Room clean and comfortable beds. Friendly and obliging staff. Food in pub is great for breakfast and dinner. Easy free parking on site. The hotel stored our luggage and allowed free parking whilst we went away on a four day wilderness experience.

Die Zimmer sind sauber und groß genug. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Man kann einen Wasserkocher ausleihen.

Port Hardy ist als Ort eine totale Katastrophe. Das Zentrum ist voll mit Junkies. Man kann also nicht spazieren gehen oder den Pier genießen. Hätten wir das vorher gewusst, hätten wir uns den Weg in den Norden der Insel gespart. Aber wer bin der Fähre kommt oder auf der Durchreise ist, schätzt das Hotel bestimmt.

It is clean, modern, the staff and very welcoming, the restaurants very good and its location makes it superb for late night ferry arrivals to Vancouver Island and early departures to the mainland. We wish we could find a comparably good hotel in Prince Rupert!

Nothing, we’ve had four excellent stays and enjoyed them all. When we arrive from the mainland, we feel like we are coming to a familiar, reliably excellent and welcoming beginning of our vacation!

Wir haben in Port Hardy übernachtet, weil wir am nächsten Morgen zeitig die Fähre nehmen mussten. Dafür lag das Hotel ideal. Zimmer waren sauber und gut eingerichtet. Auf Rückfrage gab es auch einen Wasserkocher an der Rezeption.

Sehr gutes Hotel. Perfekt wenn man wie wir am nächsten Morgen sehr früh zum Start der Inside Passage muss. Restaurant im Haus ganz hervorragend und sehr zu empfehlen

Sehr schönes Hotel mit einem großen Parkplatz ohne zusätzliche Gebühren - Reception rund um die Uhr, da wir mit der Fähre erst um 01.00 Nachts angekommen sind. Sehr schneller Check in!! Das Zimmer war sehr schön, die Betten bequem und das Bad war moderat groß und sauber! Im angrenzenden Lokal kann man sehr lecker zu Abend essen und auch das Frühstück ist perfekt. Wir waren dort zwei Nächte und wollten eigentlich am Samstag erneut frühstücken, aber es war nur eine Person im Service und alle Tische waren voll. Da wir Whalewatching in Telegraph Cove gebucht hatten (war extrem gut!!!), mussten wir leider ohne Frühstück gehen, da es einfach zu lange gedauert hat.

The hotel is nice and clean. Everything you need.

Everything was top quality. The two beds were king size and comfortable. The bathroom fixtures and shower were excellent. Lighting was above average for most hotel rooms. It was quiet including the air conditioning unit.

No variety of pillows. They were large and firm. Need lighter, smaller and fluffier pillows.

The staff were very friendly and the facilities were clean and comfortable.

Lage des Hotel, Nähe zum Fährhafen Port Hardy. Rezeption auch nachts 1Uhr noch besetzt, wenn man von der Fähre kommend einchecken möchte. Letzteres ging super schnell und problemlos. Frühstück konnte zugebucht werden und wurde frisch gemacht (á la carte). Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmte in jedem Fall. Zimmer waren ruhig, renoviert und sauber.

It had a really noisy air-conditioner. I don’t think it was even working. When I arrived into the room I realised that I wasn’t going to get a good night sleep so I went to Reception and asked whether I could change rooms due to the air-conditioner noise, the girl and Reception said yeah, we’ve got issues with some of the air-conditioners. I said. I don’t think I’ll get a good night sleep with that level of noise. Can I change rooms. She said I could change the rooms but you still might have a noisy air-conditioner. I said how about you show me the rooms that are empty and we’ll find one that doesn’t. She said we don’t normally do that. I pushed and got them to show me another room which the air-conditioner was just as noisy so at that point I gave up evidently they know they have the noisy air-conditioners and trying to fix them but they haven’t been repaired. I did not have a good night sleep. I mean it was really noisy. Disappointing because everything else was good.

Not much around the hotel in terms of on the door step walkable. Restaurant was shut when we were there. Long wait for food at alternative eating option.

Love the area, always a nice quiet stay at the hotel.

We like this hotel because it is stylishly decorated with the local indigenous arts and the services is very good.

We had a fine dinner on our first night at the Kwa’lilas hotel with excellent food and good service. The decor was fabulous authentic First Nations. The room was moderately sized and well equipped. Parking was outside and convenient.

Na een 16uur durende ferrytocht checkten we hier midden in de nacht supersnel in. Beter kan niet en dat is wat je graag wil. We waren aangenaam verrast door de frisheid/nieuwigheid van het hotel. Mooie schone kamers (niet al te groot) met uitstekende bedden en een prettig nieuw interieur. Ontbijt in het naastgelegen etablissement is goed. Personeel heel vriendelijk. Was het overal maar zo.

Niets, behalve de airco die een soort basis lawaai maakte. We hebben ‘m uitgezet en beschouwen dit als een incident.

Size of the room, microwave, poor noisy Aircon. No pool, no gym, no happy hour, no indigenous food on the menu ! Living on its past !

The room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel itself has stunning decor with lots of First Nations art and is First Nations owned and operated. The Ha'me' restaurant is intimate with lovely meals and appetizers and the cafe is casual and cheerful with great breakfasts. There's a small but excellent gift shop too. I'd definitely stay there again if in Port Hardy.

There was an iron available but no ironing board as someone else was using it. Might be good to have an extra one kicking around. That's it. Nothing to complain about really!

Such a beautiful hotel, clean, spacious room and SUPER comfy bed!! Fantastic first nations artwork all around and very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food in both the premier restaurant and the bar, we really couldn't have wanted more! Shout out to Liz in the bar area who was super sweet and helpful. A great place to stay as a base for exploring the north of Vancouver Island, highly recommend!

Had a wonderful dinner at the main restaurant and a really good pub lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed both. Room was comfortable, clean and bright. Great location, just uphill from where our ship docked. The hotel let us leave our car there for the week, which was SO convenient.

This is a modern, well run property. The rooms and facilities are spacious, spotlessly clean and modern. The staff was warm and helpful. It is beautifully decorated with First Nations art. We were so happily surprised with how comfortable and lovely this turned out to be!!!

Nicely appointed— beds were comfortable and I liked that there was a fridge.

The reception wasn’t friendly. I noticed this for several guests checking in. The woman had no patience for people asking if their room was ready and was irritable with people asking questions. A gracious and warm reception is so important in a lodging environment. Even if they have a policy of no check-ins before 4 o’clock, they can at least act like they will try. Tell people you will take their number and stay positive and upbeat.

The hotel was a suprise to find, with easy check in, a clean, contemporary room, and good food at the restaurant. Very convenient and comfortable.

We've found in quite a few hotels/motels that the shampoo and conditioner is attached to the wall and often the shampoo or conditioner is empty—that's a little frustrating when you're standing in the shower!

Having arrived early into Port Hardy and reviewing the run down town, we didn’t expect much from this hotel and would be up really early for the inside passage ferry so it was really just a place to sleep. How expectations can be so wrong. Being a hotel full of First Nation heritage was a welcome change from the run of the mill chain hotel. The decor was tasteful and depicted the First Nation culture. The hotel was eco friendly and encouraged guests to consider the environment. We we given a sizeable discount when we arrived as our room wasn’t ready which was great too. The meal in the restaurant was probably the best we have eaten all trip and was of a high standard of quality and presentation. All in all it was a good stay and very enjoyable, albeit a little short as we were up at 4am for the ferry

Thinner pillows, impossible to sleep on a pillow that is 8” thick. A complementary coffee & muffin wld have topped off our stay.

Grosses Hotel- entsprechend unpersönlich. Viel kommen und gehen. Unser Zimmer lag direkt am Parkplatz. Das Zimmer roch irgendwie komisch. Mit offenen Zimmer ging es dann aber, allerdings bekam man so natürlich die nächtliche Ankunft der Gäste mit, die mit der Fähre aus Prince Rupert ankamen.

The restaurant experience was not great. Tables were dirty. Took a while for someone to clean one for us. We watched a lady just wonder around while the other did everything. No one brought us our drinks. I went up to get the coffees, the lady brought the glasses for waters but never came back with water.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The pub attached to the hotel had delicious food for both dinner and breakfast - highly recommend the bannock bread breakfast sandwich! I would recommend this hotel to anyone. A great gift shop as well.

A little noisy from floor above.

Clean modern rooms, comfortable beds and breakfast was menu-based in the adjacent restaurant. The pub/restaurant served good food for a reasonable price and very friendly staff. Port Hardy modernized over the years with good barista coffee bar, shops and restaurants.

The strict 4pm check-in was annoying after coming from a long outdoor trip and wish to shower and clean-up. I suspect that access to cleaning staff is one of the reasons which may be applicable for whole of Port Hardy.

This is beautiful First Nations owed and operated property with a stunning decor, very comfortable and clean rooms, and many options for dining. Big THANK YOU to Ida, who checked us in and helped us in the most kind way possible after our car broke down on the highway on our way to Port Hardy. I wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommend!

The people working at the hotel were very nice.

The faucet in my room was loose from the sink, so in order to use it I had to hold the base with one hand while adjusting the flow or temperature with the other. I find it hard to believe that such a thing was unintentionally overlooked. There wea another skew-up but I forgotten.

Lobby was attractive. Hallways and rooms were a bit better than standard. Very disappointing was the front desk attitude to those arriving a bit early. The grumpy woman on the desk simply tells everyone that check-in is at 4pm and to come back then. No “let me see if a room is available” or even “we can store your luggage in the interim.” The pub is fine with a definite local customer base. The dining room is expensive and we felt not worth it. The setting looks more promising than what follows. The menu reads better than what you get. There are not a lot of places for dinner, but do look for alternatives.

Une odeur dans la chambre due à la climatisation. On a stoppé et ouvert la fenêtre. Nous avions pris un forfait avec petit déjeuner bien plus cher que le coût du petit déjeuner donc à éviter d’autant qu’on nous a fait payer un chocolat chaud !!

The hotel had nice interiors and was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was also very good.

The tv was analog and had horrible picture and sound. It’s as if it was from 1997. The other thing we were disappointed in was the customer service we received from Anne at front desk. She was horribly short and curt with us both checking in and checking out. We had inquired about the possibility of checking in prior to 4pm, which she let us know with great displeasure was not happening. We were waiting calmly in the lobby then until 4pm. She left her shift at 3:06pm and walked right past us. The gentleman who took over the front desk at 3 immediately notified us that our room was ready and happily checked us in. I don’t recall his name but he was very professional and courteous. We also over heard Anne tell another guest upon check out that she very much dislikes Booking.com and that Expedia reservations are her favorite. We suspect this is why she treated us so poorly. She desperately needs customer service training.

Attractive rooms with lots of space and attractive First Nation accents.

Soap & shampoo containers in the bathroom were empty. It took away from the overall good vibe. Hopefully just a momentary lack of attention.and not indicative of the housekeeping overall.

Thought that breakfast was included but it was not😳apparently because I had booked through Booking.com Has I known that, I would have certainly booked our stay directly through the hotel. My mistake, lesson learned! I will certainly recommend Kwa’lilas Hotel to friends and family.
