Baba Guest House

Baba, the host, is nice, smiley and helpful!

No Value for money

Dirty Baths , TV not working

It was a very calm place and comfortable!

Hidden away and just steps from Ganga and Ghat! Highly recommend the property!!! The rooftop cafe was closed during our time as it was too hot but rooms are clean and comfy we were able to check in at 9am !!! !How amazing and Suraj ji was a star helped us with bags and organise us transport to station when we were leaving. This guest house is surrounded by small cafes and shops sp u are at right place .They all went extra mile for us 🙌 thank you

Maybe just having filtered water available. They had mineral water availabke

Way to guest house is just horrible

Cleanliness was quite okay

Merci !

Beautiful and very cleans rooms. So close to the main ghat!

Staff is coperative Have no photo

Nothing .Stairs are very scary.veg food and non veg are available on same place.some people were smoking there. Maybe this place for young people not for Us

Fica a poucos passos do Ghat.

Very nice roof top cafe and Restaurant. Room was nice. Very good location in Varanasi.

Very helpful and cordial staff. We enjoyed our stay. It is located in narrow alleys, not accessible to car or auto/tuk tuk. We got dropped off at PDR Mall Luxa and we walked for 15mins to the guest house. If you want to go for any sightseeing, expect a 10minute walk to a point where you can get an auto. The place is located right on the Dashashwamedh ghaat. The building is old so don’t expect any luxury.

Baba Guest House, Varanasi – A Perfect Stay by the Ganges My stay at Baba Guest House was truly memorable. The location is absolutely ideal — just a few steps from the ghats and the famous temple, right in the heart of Varanasi’s spiritual charm. From the rooftop, you get a breathtaking panoramic view of the Ganges River, especially at sunrise and sunset — it’s an experience that touches the heart. The rooftop restaurant serves delicious food with a peaceful ambiance, making every meal special. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, offering excellent value for money. What makes this place stand out most is the staff — polite, humble, and always ready to help. They were extremely caring and supportive, especially with me and my small child, which made our stay feel like home. Overall, Baba Guest House perfectly blends comfort, hospitality, and tradition. The price is very reasonable for such a beautiful experience. I would definitely love to come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Varanasi!

All is fine.

Everything is perfect

- Great location near the river - friendly staff - proper bedding - Great restaurant

- old ugly bathroom - moldy broken plaster - windows in awful state - noisy - dodgy looking geyser - no view at all - overpriced for the standard provided

The Location. The owner and family very helpful for all the information. They came to pick and drop us at the main road.

Nothing

Nothing.

The way the Indian guests get treated in comparison to the Non Indian crowd. Also the cafe.

Good guest house located 100 meters behind munshi ghat. Rooms are clean and decent sized. 24 hours hot water is available. Staff are courteous and helpful.

There was nothing can like in this property, There only one thing this property is nearby ghats

We Arrived Varanasi on 5.30 am early morning, We call them nobody answered of us ,even I canvey them 1 day before of our arrivals time., Very small stairs and long also , washrooms door was not proper working positions.

The guest house is located a minute away from the ghats. The rooms are clean and all basic amenities are available. The roof top has a great river view. The staffs are friendly and will help you out.

Nice old house near the river with the picturesque view on the roof. Rooms are clean and cosy, without insects. The restaurant on the roof was great, serving delicious Western and Indian food. The staff of the guesthouse was very nice and helpful, the administrator was ready to solve any problem we had. I hope to stay here once again next time.

Everything was great

Location was good even though it's up a narrow lane. Quiet at night, Rooms basic and quite small but with some toiletries. Manager spoke perfect English and staff helpful. Manager booked taxi to airport for me which went without a hitch.

Charged me 5% extra for using credit card. never paid more than 3% elsewhere. Had a meal in the restaurant and got my first case of the runs in over 6 weeks of travel in Sri Lanka and India. Next door room's bathroom was open to my bathroom (for their venting I assume) so you could hear a lot from next (bath) room. Cable TV didn't even work on the free channels- Subscription not paid up. Linen quite stained.

Everything was perfect: Staff: Very friendly family ❤️ They were always helpful and warm towards me. After check out I could stay in the lobby before my bus. Location: Great. Next to the river and close to famous Ghats. Also close to main road where cabs are available. WiFi: Very good Bathroom: Always clean. Toiletries provided. Room: Clean and cool. Price: very affordable

I liked everything! Would love to come back.

Helpful staff, room very clean and the cafe/restaurant at the penthouse

Bed too hard for me

Good position and good staff.

Overall it was ok

Laudry service with so complicated pricing system (different price for every cloth type) that they can't provide you with estimate. We ended up paying twice what I expected and what I considered reasonable

Perfect location, 2 minutes away from ganga river. There is a roof top cafe which I love, cozy and good food.

We weren't given the same room we booked for the first night, though they changed our room for the other nights.

Very friendly and warm hosts, who make you feel like home. We loved the location of the guesthouse, because its very near the ghats at a convenient and calm place. Besides that, rooms were spacious and clean with a nice view. We will definitely stay at Baba Guesthouse when we will ever come back to Varanasi. Thanks again!

Nothing, all good!

Lovely friendly guest house in a great location just minutes from the river and ghats. helpful staff. I used their airport pick-up service as I arrived late at night. I was very grateful as vehicles can’t get to where the accom is and not sure I’d have found it on my own! but easy once you have your bearings. I booked a sunrise boat tour through them (in small row boat) which I’d highly recommend. I had only booked an economy room but for my first 4 days they put me in a deluxe room on the upper floor which offered a view of the Ganges which was lovely. there is a lovely cafe on the top floor which does great breakfasts.

The economy room I had to move to for final 2 nights, although clean and comfortable with attached bathroom, had no window so no natural light.

Location, behavior, staff are good. Location is very good. It is just 10-15 steps away from Munshi and Darbhanga ghats. If one does not like the steep stairs of the ghat, then they can easily come here through Bangali Tola. The stairs of the Guest House gave us old-world charm, but not ideal for elderly people as they are steep. But for young people it is good.

The inner-hashbolt of the room was not good, I had a feeling that if someone pushes from outside, it will break open. It should improve. Also the inner hashbolt of the toilet was not working.

Well located in the heart of Varanasi. Excellent rooftop restaurant.

Unfortunately the low level of maintenance of the building is evident. Our room was damp and we asked for a new one, they kindly changed it. However, in the new room there was a strong smell in the bathroom. I would highlight the need for improved cleaness as well (dirty bedsheet and bathroom). Additionally, our booked airport drop off arrived half an hour late, causing us to almost miss our flight. Overall I would not recommend this place.

Great location, nearby the Ghats, very friendly staff!

Baba Guesthouse is located right on the Ghats and is central for all that is going on. Within 2 minutes you are right on the river. Perhaps the nicest surprise was the rooftop cafe. This is a gem serving really nice food at great prices

All good

Brilliant location. Gopal was very helpful work boat trip and taxi organisation

Good

Good

Proximity to the ghats

No windows in the room

The food in the cafe was good

The approach road is terrible. It is quite a long walk to get to the hotel (more than 1km through dirty slippery narrow lanes). Rooms are very very small. For 2 adults & 1 child, it felt like living in a matchbox.. we couldn’t even open our suitcases together.

Perfect location. Warm, hospitable owner and family.

Location was great

Too hard to find

Location of Baba guest house is perfect, in the old part of Varanasi, very close to the gate where light ceremony is held in the evenings on daily base. Rooms are clean. There is a nice roof restaurant run by French lady on the top of guest house

Nice and simple place. The restaurant upstairs is amazing. The staff is very helpful. Overall good experience.

The location is not very clear. Once ordering an Uber we couldn’t get to the hotel simply because cars and tuktuks can’t reach the location. Would have been nicer if they had told us in advance. Only reachable by walking.

Really good location. Staff were lovely and room was clean along with bathroom.

Perfect location, 1 minute from the ghats. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable.

It's a heritage property nested by the side of Ganges in one of the many alleys of Bangalitolla. The people are very helpful, always available to cater to the needs of the guests; the 'Adha Adha Cafe' at the rooftop is a superb place to chill, and their food is also outstanding; the rooms, although not very large, are cosy, comfortable and budget friendly. There are comfortable sitting arrangements throughout the lobby so that the guests can hang out wherever they want. Gopal ji and his wife were very warm and welcoming. They are actually the bridge between the bulk of foreigner backpackers and travelling Indian families - they make both feel at home. This is a recommended place for both solo and group travelers.

The property is itself very interesting and elegantly decorated. Mind the stairs, which may be a bit steep for elderly people.

Position

Noises of air conditioning machine just outside the room. People standing and sleeping outside the room. Bad smell coming from air conditioning Dirty bed sheets

Excellent position, friendly staff and typical buildings

Heritage Building... Perfect host... Nearby Ghat... Superb Ganga view from rooftop.. Hotel assistant Munna will be at your service all the time.. Best hotel in Varanasi... Perfect stay.. Thanks for making our stay comfortable Gopal Ji.

NOTHING AS SUCH

Location was superb, and the staff were polite and caring.

Cleanliness in the common areas could have been better.

Very welcoming staff, rooms for every budget, great location. 3rd visit and still haven't been disappointed. Would highly recommend to any traveller ! Thanks for the stay !

We absolutely loved our stay at baba guest house. The room we had booked had no AC, and by the time we arrived they offered us to take a look at another one and choose witch one we preferred. The room was clean, shower always hot, bed was comfortable and we had enough space. AC was working perfectly too. The restaurant upstairs is great (what makes breakfast super easy!) and the staff is suuuuper helpful and kind. We had a lot of questions since that was our first time and stop in india and they didn’t hesitate to help us the best way they could. Plus, location is great to explore the city! After looking through a lot of places in Varanasi, Baba Guest House seemed the best, and we are certain that going there will be a great experience for everyone :)!

everything was perfectly fine

The host is really very cooperative. He helped us to plan our itinerary for a three day stay and arranged for a boat trip .

all well

The owner and staff are super helpful and made my trip enjoyable. The room is clean and comfortable. Also, the location is great. If you go out of the entrance, turn right and go straight, you’ll find out Dashashwamedh Ghat.

Nothing

Nice common rooftop bar and lounge area. Staff are helpful and amenites are clean. Recommended!

Not easy to reach the first time.

It was clean, in a great location and staff were very helpful! I would stay again and would also recommend them to my friends.

Nothing, it was great.

My stay at Baba Guest House was awesome. The owner was very welcoming and careful in satisfying my needs or any problem I could have had. The room I was in was very clean, nice, furnished with class. The location is perfect for those who want to stay close the Gange and visit its many ghats.

floor wasn’t clean

Superb location....all staffs were helpful, specially Gopalji. Nice guest house to stay

This place is a good choice if you are travelling on a budget. Location is perfect close to the ghats. There is also a really nice restaurant on the rooftop.

Bed was very short. They were renovating the place so at times there was a very strong paint smell.

It was simple and soothing experience.

Location is great. 2 min walk till river, 10-15 min walk to main Ghat. on the rooftop great place to eat and drink. old drinks.

no window in room. And during our stay, some rooms were paited, so there was a smell of paint

nice and clean, staff very friendly. restaurant on the top floor

Nice central location, simple but clean room. Great view from a window. Not very noisy

Cars can't get to the hotel so you'll have to walk(but that applies to every hotel there)

Hospitality,service

Nothing

👌 best stay in varanasi but cost is high any way no problem

Everything about Baba Guest House was just amazing..😊 It's just 1 minute (walking distance) away from Dashashwamedh Ghat.. and 30 seconds from Darbhanga Ghat.. Room was clean..There was provision for 24X7 hot water and Wifi.. Gopal Jha ji, his wife and other Staff members were courteous and infact at the end of our trip they felt like Family..Ah! such a great hospitality! 🙂 They have an amazing rooftop Cafe called Aadhaa-Aadhaa run by a beautiful Indo-French couple Raju and Emi..Food was top-notch (I would say-The best in Varanasi) and reasonable in terms of price.. There is a beautiful library, games like Chess and Domino that you can enjoy with your Coffee and calming music. Gopal ji and his wife will make you feel like Home with their sheer sense of humour, amazing hospitality, good food and the quality of service they provide in their Guest House.. Visiting Varanasi again for peace, happiness, tranquility and spirituality.. And our stay would be again at Baba Guest House without any doubt.. Thank you and Best Wishes 😊

Everything was just amazing.. Loved it.

Its a great location considering the Munshi Ghar is just 100m from the hotel. Gopal Ji was very kind and also managed to arrange for food at 11 PM in the night. The rooftop restaurant has good staff and good food. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. Hot water was available 24/7.

No windows from my room so no natural light. Room is pretty tight with just a bed and a table. Shower did not work well. Rooms are quite closeby so if you have noisy neighbours that could be a spoiler.

Temple view and near ghat

Mice in room. not that much cleniness
