Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The food was excellent, the staff were great.
The room ( 105 ) was quite small, it had too much furniture, the back of the desk chair obscured the TV to the level that we had to ask housekeeping to remove it from the room, the armchair faced into the room and had to be moved in order to use it to watch the TV, likewise the coffee table. The only place for the luggage rack was across one of the wall drove doors. I often think that hotel owners need to actually stay in their rooms in order to see if they actually work for their guests.
Location, sea views, easy access to the town. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Adult only.
We had no complaints.
Breakfast was so good with everything cooked and presented perfectly. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
I booked this at relatively short notice as a short break following a health episode earlier in the year. We have visited Sidmouth many times but had not stayed before. Being an adult only hotel had a bearing on my choice and also we knew the location was perfect for us. The hotel has a charm that is rare these days with fresh flowers and wonderful staff on all levels. The attention to detail and service is refreshing to see, corners have not been cut and it is good to see so many young people involved. . When I twisted my ankle whilst out in Sidmouth they were so helpful bringing ice to the room a couple of times which really helped. I would expect to be staying here in the future, we loved it.
Here for lunch yesterday as a birthday treat for a friend. Lovely food, efficient and kind staff made for a wonderful time. The raptors on the lawn and the Chinook flypast were the icing on the cake. Thank you
Visited The Belmont again for a couple of nights. Lovely hotel with great staff. Accommodation, food, service and location is excellent. Highly recommend.
From arrival to departure an excellent stay in a hotel with high standards in all areas encountered.
Enjoyed a 6 night stay at the Belmont in glorious weather. Belmont is a first class hotel, superb lounge and restaurant, with attentive and friendly service. We stayed in a deluxe sea view room with balcony, and with the views, couldn't have wished for more. Special mention has to be given to the restaurant, changing 5 course menu every day, and waiter service is excellent. Only feedback, the real ale beer offering in lounge is poor. Only doombar was served by pump, staff unaware how to look after it, was served cloudy on more than one occasion. Guests were going to the Tap Room at the end of the promenade for lunch and evening for drinks where they served Salcombe local beer. The deluxe bathroom does need refurbishing, old fittings and furniture. In summary, perfect hotel, will hopefully return.
All meals were superb, staff excellent.
Bed was standard, would have preferred King or super King.
Thoroughly recommend The Belmont Hotel for a special occasion. or just a relaxing holiday. Enjoy the delicious food in a beautiful setting
I stayed for a long weekend with my Mum on the recommendation of many friends who always stay here. It really is an exceptional hotel. You can’t beat the location- on the seafront and just a few minutes walk into Sidmouth town centre to the shops and restaurants. The hotel is immaculate and beautifully decorated. Everything in the bedrooms were beautifully cleaned and fresh with illuminated mirrors, brand new fans to keep cool, and we had the best night’s sleep on the soft bedding. We enjoyed the bar in the evening with wonderful sea views and the breakfast was excellent. What made our stay so wonderful though were The Belmont team. Even before we arrived, they went out of their way for us with their customer service. They were able to ensure we had two rooms next door to each other and even brought in specially a mini fridge for my Mum’s room to keep her medication chilled! All the team here from front of house, restaurant, bar staff, and house keeping were friendly warm and professional. You can see why it is an award winning hotel. We had a wonderful stay here and will definitely book here again.
Meals gave value for money; location fanastic - right on sea front and next to Sidmouth cricket club (big cricket fan) centre of town within walking distance; good car parking; staff very friendly. Relaxed approach to clothing attire in bar and restaurant - took my suit as I had heard it was needed in restaurant but it was too hot to wear and was reassured by staff "smart casual" was acceptable.
Bedroom faced South West, so it was very hot; drawing the curtains, opening the windows, using the fan didn't really solve the problem. Slept very badly on last night (Thursday) which left me very tired for the long journey home (110 miles). I slept on (rather than in) the bed on all three nights. One of many reasons for lack of sleep on Thursday was because of beads of sweat across my whole body - which needed drying by a towel.
The staff Friendly and helpful
Didn’t like the fact we couldn’t open our Front room door out to the garden in our bedroom.
Beautiful location and wonderful food Hidhly recommend the Horizon restaurant I shall certainly visit again -
the sea side location without the common arcade and food outlets
Dinner was excellent. There was plenty of it and well presented. The staff everywhere in the hotel were very friendly. Very nice atmosphere.
It may be better to have two rates for breakfast. One for continental and one for full English. My partner had cereal and toast and I had fruit salad, yoghurt and toast. This cost £20 each. The same charge as if you had a full English as well. Breakfast is full waiter service, so you could definitely work with 2 rates.
Spa facilities and location to the beach, each meal was delicious and all the staff were friendly and helpful
Rooms need air conditioning as only one small window
Quite .. location was good ...car parking was good
Expensive restaurants...no shorts allowed !!! Little bit stuffy and maybe I wasnt expecting the age group that was there ...
Great location and lovely room. Staff very helpful on arrival.
The food was very expensive and we didn’t feel it was good value for the money
Didn’t have breakfast. Location was perfect. Loved the little extras in the room. Loved how friendly the staff were
We expected rest and relaxation in a first class hotel and we received just that. Could not have wished for more.
Location. Friendly staff great service
Bedroom was nice and bed supper comfortable clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly.
The en-suite bathroom could do with some refurbishment. Shower fittings were old with low pressure and we were unable to change the angle to use the shower as the holder broken, and toilet seat was broken and kept moving when used.
This is my 3rd time staying at Belmont, and always pleasant experience, staffs are very helpful and I love the hotel which is very classy.
Good location with front elevation facing the sea with regency designed building slightly raised and distanced from the esplanade, enabling adequate onsite parking covering about a quarter of the frontage. Furnishings in bedroom and public areas of good quality. Particularly liked the lounge and bar area together with adjacent anti - room both with appealing furnishings and good view over the terrace, putting green and towards the sea. A good option for slightly less formal dining with later last orders for dining. Good storage in the room with plenty of hangers and drawer space. Staff generally pleasant and competent.
The room designated as a standard sea view room in a four star hotel, I believe was overpriced for the facility provided. The usable part of the room was not large by any stretch of the imagination and the en-suite was exceptionally small with no space on either side of the wash basin, Although well fitted with Laufen toilet and basin and quality tiling. A four star hotel demands greater space. The shower lacked water pressure. A refrigerator in the room is also a desirable requirement. Iwould say that the hotel is rather pretentious with delusions of grandeur and hubris. This is a seaside vacation hotel and whilst I support it's desire to maintain dress standards in public areas, I believe the stated preference for jacket and tie for male diners is an outdated practice and does not reflect the styles of today particularly on a warm summers evening, I do however support a smart casual approach. With a latest entry of 8.00 p.m. in the main dining room, I believe this is rather early. The television was rather slow to initialise. The hotel information on the TV showed sample menus only. To be of benefit the actual daily menus should be displayed.
A nice hotel on sea front. Our daughters booked this for our Golden Wedding. We were put up in the roof (3rd floor) and due to the heat the room was like a sauna!
The location and service were on point!
The building is beautiful however the only downside I would say there was no aircon in our room. We had a smallish window which was constantly left op en and a small desk fan. It was quite uncomfortable trying to sleep in high temperature. This is my only small gripe I have.
Excellent service throughout from planning to fulfilment through the agency of events manager Wade Berry, ably and impeccably supported by all staff involved. Quality of food and drinks and overall service to a very high standard enjoyed and appreciated by all. Nothing was too much trouble - even to the extent of searching for a missing walking stick!
A lovely vibe in a wonderful setting
Zero
Location was ideal; use of the facilities next door was a bonus. Breakfast was full of excellent choices and the additional bar/dining options were great!
Air conditioning in the room would have been a great addition.
Всё шикарно, но отель чистая аристократия )) в общем там все кто заработал на пенсию, кайфуют и отдыхают. Жив номере с шикарным видом. Вокруг прогулять и покушать отличное время при провождения
My partner and I had afternoon tea on the terrace over looking the sea. This was a wonderful experience on every level. The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. The location is idyllic. The afternoon tea was in my opinion, better than most of those served by top London Hotels. If you are in Sidmouth, this is something you must try. This place is truly a gem.
Loved that it was an Adult only Hotel.
Having to pay extra for breakfasts, which was very greasy. Cobwebs in Bathroom and Toilet wasn't clean.
Excellent location , really great friendly, helpful staff.
Could do with air conditioning in the rooms. Very hot !
Excellent hotel, well managed. Wonderful position on the seafront. Fine dining with a comprehensive menu. Cannot fault the hotel, will be returning later this year.
Breakfast was good, a lot of choice. Location excellent. Staff were really good.
Room was very comfortable, beautifully furnished if a bit pokey for £300.
Excellent location and friendly staff.
Temporary building works.
We have stayed at th belmount hotel numerous times and in my opinion the best hotel in sidmouth the service and food are excellent we had a deluxe room with a sea view witch was lovely I would recommend this hotel to anyone
Excellent hotel offering traditional top quality dining experience in a superb location. Goodservice, nice rooms
An excellent Hotel with high standards , great location with courteous, informed and very helpful well trained staff.
Posiition
Evening meal.
Excellent food. Beautiful views from sea facing rooms and terrace. Air conditioning in restaurants and the Residents lounge which were much needed in the heatwave. Facilities which we could use at the Victoria hotel are very good. The outdoor pool area at the rear of the hotel lovely and relaxing.
The staff were SO helpful. The lunches DELICIOUS! The room EXCELLENT! Thank you.
Beautiful to look at as you arrive, so impressive. Spotlessly clean and staff that were so friendly. Aircon in public areas was very welcome
Room was a tad small, lack of aircon in room was a problem and I can see being more of a problem as summers get warmer
The hotel was beautiful, stunning views, exquisite decor, clean, Everything you needed was there. The bedrooms were a decent size, walk in shower, comfy bed, lots of storage space. The staff made the hotel, exceptional, nothing was any trouble and everything with intention to detail. That made my aunties holiday.
The Belmont is our favourite UK hotel and our stay here was, as usual, very pleasant in spite of the excessive heat outside! THe staff, without exception are delightful and alway ready to help.
A very comfortable stay. All the staff we very well trained, very polite and always helpful. We had an excellent breakfast with many choices. Our bedroom was rather too hot, but the country was having a heat wave, so temperatures everywhere were exceptionally high. We really enjoyed the swimming pool.
Everything perfect.
Only filtered coffee Would give a 10 if you could get a strong fresh coffee.😃
The equal of top hotels we have stayed at around the world. Not just best in Southwest, but best in U.K.
Air on but a fan was provided.
Great hotel and service. Exceptional location. Very helpful staff. Spa facilities were impeccable and would highly recommend the treatments offered.
Had a very happy one night dinner, bed and breakfast stay. All staff encountered were exceptionally polite and friendly.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at The Belmont in Sidmouth. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully presented. The modern bathroom was spotless, and we appreciated that the room was serviced daily upon request. The TV was excellent, and it was great being able to relax and enjoy the World Cup matches during our stay. The staff were all kind, friendly, and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with plenty of choice, and the hotel’s location directly opposite the beach was perfect for exploring Sidmouth. The parking facilities were also excellent and very convenient. A particular highlight was access to the spa at the Victoria Hotel, The Belmont’s sister hotel. My wife and I had a fantastic massage experience there. Our masseuse, Sadie, provided exceptional service and gave us some very helpful advice regarding our health and wellbeing. It was a truly relaxing and memorable experience. Overall, The Belmont is a stunning hotel, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Sidmouth. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily return in the future.
Very little to dislike during our stay. If I had one suggestion, it would be that breakfast could perhaps be offered as a buffet, especially considering the price. The cooked breakfast was enjoyable and of good quality, but a buffet with a wider selection and the option to help yourself would have added even more value. Other than that, everything was excellent.
We have stayed here and at many of the Brend hotels and the food is always amazing. These days air conditioning is a must, so we would not consider staying again during summer months unless it is installed.
An outstanding quality hotel full of traditional and friendly English charm, double linen table cloths and silver cutlery provide and excellent basis for high quality cuisine coupled with first class service. Rooms are a traditional , very clean and comfortable and an adults-only environment ensures a more relaxed stay
Clean. Airy and staff were very helpful,
Nothing to not like,
Have stayed in the Belmont several times now and every time is perfect from the food, accommodation, staff to the wonderful flower displays throughout the hotel. Personally I really enjoyed the pianist who frequently played whilst we ate our evening meal.
The location was great
The formal dressing
The service and food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were superb, very fresh and hot. The room was comfortable and refreshed each day.
Unfortunately the guests were very old and it felt a little like a care home. This is not a negative comment on the hotel, but reflects the resort in general.
As you arrive at the lovely south Devon resort of Sidmouth, the hotel stands out on the seafront alongside its sister hotel, The Victoria. You approach the hotel under the archway off the promenade, and it soon becomes obvious that you're going to be pleased with your stay As part of the award winning Brend Hotel collection, The Belmont must rate as one of the best From the moment you check in, till the moment you check out, you'll feel like royalty. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 25 years and will continue to stay here in the future. With the management team led by Tim Beauchamp, a "hands-on" manager, many of the staff have worked here for several years which proves volumes and shows commitment to Tim, The Belmont, and The Brend Hotels collection. Rooms are light and spacious and well appointed, service is exemplary, and all the staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help. Nothing is too much trouble. The food in the restaurant - well, it would be hard to beat for quality anywhere. Believe me, you won't leave hungry. Other names to mention must be Linda and the lovely ladies in reception, always smiling, and of course, the hotels deputy manager Wade, once seen, never forgotten, numero uno in customer service. The Belmont Hotel in Sidmouth, combining old-fashioned service with excellent food, surroundings, and facilities. For those sun worshippers, swimmers, or leisure facility users, you can also take advantage of the outdoor pool and indoor spa facilities of the equally impressive Victoria Hotel next door. You can understand why people continue to return to this hotel and indeed to the resort of Sidmouth, with its genteel old-school charm, independant shops and cafes, pebble and sand beaches and, thankfully to most, lack of amusement arcades . They often say that Sidmouth is Devons' best kept secret, and I can see why
Can't wait to return to such a friendly and efficient hotel. The dining experience is excellent. Nothing too much trouble.
Beautiful hotel.great location
Nothing
Super seafront hotel. We had a room upgrade which was so lovely as it was our wedding anniversary. Love that you are guaranteed a parking space and the use of their sister hotel which is actually next door.
There are negatives as far as we are concerned.
Fabulous traditional high end seaside hotel. Brilliant location with sea views and pretty gardens. Use of outdoor pool a bonus. Adult only policy enhanced the experience . All the staff were very professional and helpful.
Nothing
Staff were excellent. Friendly, helpful and knew their jobs well. The room was well maintained/recently redone. A good bathroom with walk in shower, large sink, bathroom cabinet and a shower with all the controls in all the right places. Fan, safe, loads of plug sockets. The bar was good too. The young woman behind the bar was thoughtful and efficient.
Room was very warm
What a Brilliant Hotel so relaxing the staff were so helpful through out the hotel. Breakfast was delicious friends were really impressed the meal we all had at lunch time. Are room was very clean and most comfortable nice view over cricket field and beyond. A very big thank you to all the staff at the Belmont Hotel. We will return!
My mum and my sister always visit and stay for a couple of days to celebrate mums birthday (97 this year), so my wife and I decided to join them as a surprise for mum
Came to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday. The food was excellent, with the sea bream cooked perfectly. The service was excellent and all in all it was great value for money. The view was made especially special today as the regular visiting Harris Hawks were there on seagull patrol.
Lage
Vermeintlich luxuriös gestaltet. Kein Gepäckservice. Kein Bad mit Fenster! Zimmerausblick auf Vordächer und Abluft.
Dinner Breakfast
Booked a deluxe room which wasn’t deluxe it was a single with a sea view chocolates and fruit and I had to pay for dinner and breakfast as extra. Next time I’ll book a single room and get dinner and Breakfast included.
Everything
Nothing
Felt well looked after.
Had to move TV a little so could view it.
Delicious, bespoke breakfast, a real treat.
The Hotel was a little hot at night
Location, Atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. Good food and we appreciated the upgrade to a room with a sea view.
The room was at times a bit too warm especially at night but a fan was available for use.
The location and its staff.
It was dated, the room was a little shabby the window trim was broken hanging in the room the en-suite fan was really noisy and you couldn’t turn the light on without it.
Anthony helped with our luggage and was a mine of historical information about Sidmouth. Thank you. We liked the free parking for a change. We enjoyed the bright room overlooking the Sidmouth Cricket Club. My husband enjoyed his breakfast on the first morning. The reception staff were professional and eager to please.
Only received one night’s amenities kits and they were hidden behind a mirrored cupboard.
Its location, the staff
Nothing at all
It is spacious and well looked after, with sufficient space for parking.
We liked it all
It is always a pleasure to visit the Belmont, whether to stay or just to have coffee or a meal. Staff always very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
Great choice served efficiently.
Bathroom could have shelf for wash bags
Excellent location for the sea front, shops and buses. The food was excellent, and the room as very confortable.
Location perfect as it’s situated on the seafront. Parking available for all guests.
No aircon. The bedroom was so hot and windows could only be opened a tiny bit . A good quality fan was provided in bedroom but it only circulated the already hot air . Although we really appreciated the lovely sunny weather, the room was unbearable.
Would recommend this hotel for a short break of 5 days as we did. Food very good and service was first class.
This hotel is wonderful. We came as part of a coach party staying for four nights but we were all treated as individuals and no differently from independent guests. We had our own table for two throughout our stay and the food was excellent both at breakfast and at dinner. The hotel is adults only and, being out of season, most of the guests were retired people ( nicer term than OAP's!). The staff were very friendly and attentive. They are obviously used to working with older people and nothing was too much trouble, especially when looking after guests with disabilities. We had requested and were given an excellent twin bedded room with a walk in shower and a sea view. The hotel has high standards and requests that gentlemen wear jackets and ties at dinner although one or two guests who hadn't brought them were fine in less formal wear. Our luggage was taken from the coach to our room and vice versa when we left. The hotel is family owned and part of a small group of hotels in Devon and Cornwall. This really showed. I can usually find something to moan about when staying in a hotel but the only thing is that the hotel was too hot for our liking. Our bedroom was very warm even though there was no heating on and we kept our window open. I think it would be very hot in the summer. Only other problem was that the lift, which seems pretty old, broke down one afternoon although it was fixed in a few hours. The Belmont is next to the Victoria, another hotel in the group. The Victoria has many more facilities including a pool and spa and Belmont guests are welcome to use them. Many of our fellow coach travellers had been here several times before ( one lady 7 times before) which is a great recommendation.
Excellent Sunday lunch served by such nice people. Good ambience buzzy dining area. The roast lamb and beef were exceptional. Thanks to everyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at The Belmont Hotel. My room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. The food was superb. and the staff, friendly, courteous, and efficient. I will stay there again.
Another lovely stay at this wonderful hotel. We come here to relax and recharge and have never had anything other than an excellent holiday.
Ideal luxury setting to book a special Sunday lunch or evening meal Good choice of courses and wines served in a restaurant full of traditional charm
First thought was expensive, but when you see what you get you realise it’s very good value. Excellent
Possibly a small fridge in the room, certain medications require a cool temperature
The Belmont is a superb location, staff are exceptionally good, food of the highest quality, would highly recommend
Lots of simple, classy, touches that you don’t always get at hotels (even really good ones!) these days. Does everything I really quality and friendly hotel should do .
Lovely afternoon tea for mother's day with my Daughter with lovely sea views The staff were friendly and efficient and accommodating to our dietary requests. The afternoon tea was simply lovely with lovely touches of balloons, mini prosecco and chocolates. Thank you for making my mothers day a little extra special
I love The Belmont one of my favourite places. The service is second to none. After coming 20+ years the standards have never dropped. It is an amazing Hotel and the decor is perfect.
Enjoyed a fabulous and relaxing stay. Beautiful, clean and comfortable hotel, friendly staff and delicious food. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable. Congratulations to Brend Hotels on your recent award - we completely agree that you are the ‘Gold Standard’ in hospitality - thank you for all the gifts you shared to celebrate this success with your guests!
The hotel is ideally located on the sea front and close to the town. Whilst it is an old property it is very well kept with a high level of decoration throughout. The customer service was exceptional and quality of food very good indeed.
I would have two minor gripes with this quite magnificent hotel. The coffee was, in general, too weak and was never quite hot enough. This applied to breakfast and also the after dinner coffee. And secondly the breakfast plates were never cleared away quickly enough. These are very small tables that do not allow much room for side plates and cups and saucers. Everything else was exceptional.
This was just the most amazing place to stay! Friendly attentive staff, scrupulously clean and the food was tasty and beautifully presented. At last, somewhere that still cooks breakfast to order and serves it on hot plates! Thank you! Exceptional value for money. Please don’t change a thing, we shall return.
Hotel staff were great in all areas. Felt very homely and was beautifully clean. Room was immaculate and had some nice touches eg flowers and chocolates. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing with some good choices. We stayed only one night but it certainly wasn’t enough!!
Great location.
Very dated approach.
Food was excellent, staff were good. Room was very clean.
All good.
In good condition. Ladies and Gents toilets outstanding.
