Good
Nothing
The lobby, dining room and hall were all beautiful
Our carpet in our room was stained
We had a very comfortable room and were given somewhere secure to leave our bicycles overnight. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The bar and breakfast room were pleasant and breakfast good.
Not centrally located, and up a steep hill from the riverside, so not the best if you want to explore what New Ross has to offer. We did not need the leisure centre/fitness facilities that were available and consequently it was expensive as an overnight stay.
I arrived late the evening after work, it was kitchen closing time, 8.50pm. I was very hungry and the staff at the bar made all the possible for me to order and have a great meal. I was very happy and I will give 100% for hospitality to the young lady that even if it was Saturday night, bar was full, she took her job an extra mile to allow me to order a starter and a main course. I paid and had the time to go in the room and change from my suit and get confortable. I got a call from the bar to inform me that food was ready and made my way down. Found a little table and enjoyed a great meal. I recommend this great hotel for anyone travelling in the New Ross area.
Only Two things, no lift to upstairs room, especially when you have heavy luggage's. The walls in the bedroom are not soundproof, I did not mind because I was only stay one night and I was there for long meetings for work, so it was late bedtime and 5am up to leave for work. I could hear all that happened in the bathroom in the room beside me also the I was woken by the next room tv few times during the night and by the news in the morning. It was not an issue for me in this occasion because I stayed for work, if I was staying for a relaxing break, it was probably more an issue.
Excellent hotel, booked last minute with request for cot and it was there when we got to room all set up. Even activity packs for kids in room too which was great because we were just off the ferry. Had delicious dinner there also, very spacious. Staff attentive and very family friendly hotel. Even a playground beside car park.
Dinner was lovely with nice attentive staff
There could have been more fresh fruit options for breakfast
Beautiful comfortable welcoming staff
Pillows and duvets synthetic and of poor quality. Do not match the otherwise excellent facilities and ambience
We had a lovely family meal out in the Library Bar last night. Food was delicious, great atmosphere and Annagh our main server was friendly, super efficient and couldn't have done enough fo us. We will definitely return.
We booked in here last minute thanks to the lovely receptionist Sinead who helped us when other accomadation we had booked was a disaster. This was a wonderful hotel and all who we met went above and beyond to make this a wonderful stay.
Friendly staff. Great food and in beautiful setting
The only complaint i had is pity there wasnt a snall game room for older children
The temperature regulator seemed like it was in need of attention in the bath/shower very tight to twist and in general I don't understand why hotels don't install taps with some sort of grips as wet hands can't turn very well.
The pool and gym were excellent. The room was spacious and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Had dinner which was lovely. Plenty of free parking. Loved the hotel, we will be back.
Would have been nice to have details of how to access the wifi, check out time, breakfast time etc on a card in our room. Would like to have had something to put our case on rather than on the floor.
Rooms and staff were excellent. Breakfast was excellent also. We love this hotel and return there for our stay when we travel to Ireland. See my comments below as would like the hotel to remain successful and do see improvements every time we stay.
Evening food in bar was pricey for what it was and not very good. The bar area was lovely and overall facilities were great, but the evening meal options let the overall feel of the hotel down. The female changing facilities in the leisure center were not very clean and looked like it was due a refurb to keep in line with the rest of the facility.
I could spend even more time writing about this hotel, but frankly, they've already wasted enough of my time and money. I've included photos of the "pint of Guinness" that was served in a Guinness 0.0 glass, and the "Scotch" that arrived in a brandy glass—after I had to explain to the barmaid what a Scotch actually was. It's ironic seeing the Brandon House Hotel's social media filled with staff making fancy cocktails when they can't pour a proper pint or serve a basic whisky correctly. From start to finish, our stay was appalling. The food was mediocre, the service was poor, and the customer care was non-existent. The staff appeared uninterested, untrained and completely uninspired. As for management, they need to take a serious look at how they treat paying guests. Rather than listening to feedback, they dismissed it entirely. For the prices charged by this hotel, the experience falls well below what you should expect. There are far better places to spend your money. I could go on for pages about everything that went wrong, but I won't waste any more of my time on the Brandon House Hotel. I certainly won't be returning, and based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend that anyone else does either.
The lady that checked us in and the staff in both the bar and restaurant were nice
Both the single and double bunk beds in our "superior family room" were lumpy and uncomfortable, so neither myself, my husband or daughter got much sleep. Also the breakfast choice was ok and the cooked breakfast wasn't very warm the next morning. When the receptionist asked how everything was and I told her about the beds she replied "We haven't received any reports of the beds being lumpy in that room from other guests"
Really excellent breakfast - just couldn't go wrong with the smoked salmon, Wexford Creamery Vintage Cheddar and poached eggs. The staff are the most attentive we have ever encountered (not only in the breakfast room but throughout the hotel). Seafood Chowder and Prawn Cassoulet are "more please!" on the Library Bar Dinner Menu.
Hadn't realised that not all rooms have walk-in showers and which meant we had to climb into the bath. (All walk-in shower rooms were already booked, but a non-slip rubber mat was available on request ). Also hadn't realised that the Restaurant only opens at weekend. The Wine List in the Bar was very limited. The peppercorn sauce was very disappointing.
I have deliberately held off writing this review because I wanted to give the Brandon House Hotel every opportunity to put things right. Unfortunately, after two stays and several conversations with management, I feel I need to share my honest experience. First Stay – Easter 2026 (Spa Break) I booked a one-night spa break for myself, including a facial and back massage, looking forward to a relaxing getaway. When I arrived, my room wasn't ready, which was absolutely fine, so I went to the spa first. Unfortunately, the spa wasn't the tranquil experience it's advertised to be. It was bright, cold and lacked any relaxing atmosphere. There was no calming music, no candles and very little ambience. While the treatments themselves were good, the overall experience certainly wasn't relaxing. During my facial, the treatment room window was left open and a delivery truck pulled up directly outside. Two delivery drivers then had a full conversation outside the window throughout part of my treatment. It completely ruined what should have been a peaceful experience. The treatment beds were also unheated, which made the experience even less comfortable, and the jacuzzi wasn't working. After checking into my room, I discovered I had been placed on the standard accommodation floor. At no point was I advised that an adults-only floor even existed, despite this being a solo adult spa break. From around 6pm, children were running through the corridors, banging on doors—including mine—and shouting. I contacted reception, who assured me they would deal with it, but nothing changed. After enduring another three hours of constant disruption, I had to ring reception again at 9pm. Only then was the issue addressed. The whole point of booking a spa break alone was to relax. Instead, I spent most of the evening listening to children running through the corridors and knocking on my door. It became so disruptive that I chose to have dinner delivered to my room rather than spend time in the hotel. Later that evening, around 10:45pm, I went to the bar hoping to finally enjoy a quiet glass of wine while listening to the live music. Instead, the bar was still full of children, many wearing pyjamas, some barefoot, running around while adults were trying to enjoy their evening. I spoke to the duty manager, Mina. His initial response was simply, "What do you want me to do? I've already asked their parents." I explained that children remaining in the licensed bar area at that hour raised serious concerns and that, if anything happened, it could become a much bigger issue for the hotel. Eventually the children were removed, but this wasn't until after 11pm. To his credit, Mina later sent over a complimentary bottle of wine, which I genuinely appreciated. The following morning, I discovered the hairdryer in my room didn't work. When I mentioned this at reception during checkout, the response was simply, "Oh... okay." Contact with Management After returning home, I contacted Alison, the Deputy General Manager, because I wanted to give the hotel an opportunity to address my concerns before leaving a public review. She kindly offered my family and me a complimentary night's stay in a family room, along with what was described as a complimentary three-course family meal. I genuinely appreciated the gesture and accepted it in good faith, which is why I didn't immediately leave a review after my first stay. During our conversations before this second visit, I specifically advised Alison that my children were 16 and 13 years old and asked whether the family room and meal arrangement would still be suitable. I was assured that it would be. Second Stay – August 2026 Unfortunately, our second visit was just as disappointing. The "three-course family meal" turned out to be two margarita pizzas, chicken goujons, cocktail sausages and a jug of cordial—a children's sharing platter clearly designed for much younger children, despite management knowing my children's ages in advance. This was hugely disappointing after driving an hour to the hotel expecting the meal that had been described. When we raised this with Mina, he appeared completely uninterested. Eventually he offered a €60 credit for the bar menu instead, which we accepted simply because our children were hungry. The food itself was average at best and extremely overpriced. For example, €20 for a pepperoni pizza and €5.50 for a portion of chips felt excessive considering the quality. Our room was also disappointing. The carpets were visibly dirty, there was damage to the bathroom door that could easily have caused an injury, the bathroom door wouldn't lock properly, and several fixtures, including broken picture frames, were damaged and presented unnecessary safety hazards. To make matters worse, the top shower wasn't working either, meaning the room clearly hadn't been properly checked or maintained before our arrival. I have photographs of these issues. Breakfast the following morning was equally poor. The plates were cold, the eggs were cold, the rashers were cold—in fact, the entire cooked breakfast was cold. There is no self-service coffee machine, yet nobody offered us tea or coffee when we were seated. When I eventually asked a member of staff for coffee, he let out a loud sigh, rolled his eyes and said, "Fine, where are you sitting?" That interaction summed up the level of customer service throughout our stay. Final Thoughts What disappointed me most wasn't the facilities—it was the attitude of management. When I later spoke to Alison again, she dismissed our concerns by saying our children's ages hadn't been communicated, despite the fact that I had specifically discussed this with her beforehand. She also maintained that the hotel had compensated us fairly for the original poor experience. Throughout the conversation, she repeatedly spoke over us and was unwilling to accept constructive feedback. Even my 13-year-old son commented afterwards that she came across as passive-aggressive. Her final remark to me was, "I assume you'll never be back again." She was absolutely right. I've stayed in countless hotels across Ireland and abroad over the years with my family, and I can honestly say this has been the poorest overall experience I've encountered. The Brandon House Hotel has potential, but the standard of customer service and management lets it down enormously. Staff appear disengaged, concerns are dismissed rather than addressed, and genuine customer feedback doesn't seem to be welcomed. My impression is that the hotel benefits greatly from being the only hotel in New Ross. Unfortunately, based on our experiences, that convenience is not enough for us to return. I cannot recommend the Brandon House Hotel, and sadly we will not be returning. One final point that perfectly sums up my experience with the Brandon House Hotel was my conversation with Alison, the Deputy General Manager. After explaining everything that had happened, I was effectively told to "feel free to leave a negative review on TripAdvisor" because, in her view, the hotel's many positive reviews would outweigh a single negative one. The clear impression I was left with was that my experience simply didn't matter and that one unhappy customer wouldn't make any difference. For me, that conversation encapsulated the entire experience. It wasn't just the issues with the spa, the room, the food or the service—it was the attitude towards customer feedback. Rather than feeling listened to or valued, I felt dismissed. Customer service is about listening, acknowledging when things haven't gone to plan and making guests feel that their experience matters. Unfortunately, I never got that impression from the management at the Brandon House Hotel. And if my review changes 1 persons mind about booking this hotel I will be happy
Great staff and manager Mena who looked after me very well Interesting tapas menu I really enjoyed Great room A repeat customer
We enjoyed a short local enough to us staycation here after spotting a really good deal online. I can’t recommend the place enough, staff were amazing, friendly, professional and genuinely looked like they enjoyed their work. Our room was good except for the mattress, we found it uncomfortable but that could be just preference. Food was delicious especially the breakfast which I think was the favourite part of our stay. Specially want to thank and mention Alison who served us breakfast, dinner and literally tea for our stay, she was everywhere but in a good way and always so cheerful. All in all 10/10
Had lunch with my husband and children here today. Food was excellent. Staff were so helpful and nice. Best service from staff I have seen in a long time so professional. Very good value for money also. Definitely recommend.
Such a beautiful hotel. The staff was amazing. Everyone is so helpful. We had a great stay. The food was amazing.
De oprechte vriendelijkheid van de medewerkers
Geen verkoeling in de kamer
Stayed with the family this week. We really enjoyed the pool and the playground for the kids. I wouldn't recommend availing of the family deal with the meal included (the options are quite limited and I wish I'd just gone bed and breakfast). On both nights, the bar was a shambles for food. On the first night, we waited well over an hour between starter and main course. On the second night, it was a battle to get the bill and then pay it. Desserts were delivered but I had to get my own spoon etc. The waitresses were really nice but they appear understaffed and it's all a bit chaotic. Our beakfast experience was more positive and it seemed much better organised. There would also appear to be a lack of visible management around the place.
Great friendly staff and good food at the library bar.
Room was very warm due to the weather. Could have done with windows being opened and fan put on before arrival.
I Had a lovely starter of chowder,no complaint My partner had Haloumi and salad, the salad was poor. I choose open prawn sandwich. It arrived with a sad looking salad. The almost raw prawns looked slimey when I scraped off the sauce which was like a watered down maryrose. The buttered bread was not butter and had gone yellow around the edges..to be honest it was a mess. My partner got a smoked salmon open sandwich.the salmon was so dry it must have been out on a pass all morning. I fail to comprehend how a CHEF COULD OR WOULD allow such poor quality food to leave the kitchen. Shame on them. Ps the "food" was very well priced on the high side. To conclude. You have lost many future customers from my experience there today. All the staff were very kind and poiletly helpful . That is my honest opinion of my experience in the library bar restraunt .Pat
We have stayed at the Brandon House hotel for many times town through the years . It’s a lovely place . While we enjoyed our stay our room while spotless smelt a little musty . We dined both nights in the bar and on night one Eowyn was our server , this young lady is incredible she’s so warm & welcoming and as my husband is coeliac she went through the menu with him and her knowledge of coeliac disease was excellent she is a wonderful ambassador for the hotel, there was another man who’s name escapes me now but he was excellent too . Our only complaint if you could call it that the weather was beautiful so the air con in the bar while it’s lovely to have is set too high we did ask if it could be turned down and it was for a while but it eventually was turned up again (I know it is easier for the staff to work in) so we ended up going out sitting on the terrace to warm up as we had no jackets or long sleeve tops with us. We look forward to our next stay Kind regards Caroline & Gerry Murray
Mancanza dell aria condizionata
Fabulous hotel to stay at beautiful pool and day spa
Nothing I loved everything about this hotel
Amazing. Just loved the whole ambience of the place. And sitting outside watching the sun go down was beautiful. Lucy on reception exceptional. Ger in the Bar (I hope that's his name) exceptional. Great stay
All great no complaints
Dinner was excellent
Pool changing rooms could be better
Lovely hotel and grounds, very good food and nice pool area
The leisure centre was fantastic
The service in the restaurant could have been friendlier
Friendly staff, comfortable room, great vegan options (apple crumble had no crumble on it though!) Kids club available although we didn't end up using it.
Breakfast not included in what was a hefty price for room.
Arrived in the hotel a week ago. Reception desk was fine and friendly . Our room was dated, basic but clean. It overlooked a large plastic bubble in which a swimming pool was situated. After resting for a while we decided to have bar food rather than go down town. (Good decision as the return journey from the town would have challenged the SAS explained later ). The food was fine but the main issue was clearing of tables. Having eaten our meal, we had to ask a staff member an hour later to clear our table. Our table was quickly cleared but much to our surprise none of the other tables were, hence the local feathered wild life feasted happily for the remainder of the night. I like birds but it's not my preference to dine with them. I found the management and supervision of the outdoor area very poor and it was little better indoors as once again tables were full of uncleared of glasses. I must say all staff members were extremely friendly and helpful , a lack of floor management was the problem. I believe it is the only hotel in New Ross so little competition and this shows in many ways. Competition is good. Even with a swimming pool and Spa I would rate this hotel at max 3*. Not very suitable for aged or people with mobility issues as the driveway into the hotel is very severe and many will have an issue walking back up the driveway to the hotel from New Ross. When asked reception stated that there was not an efficient taxi service into the town, we found the opposite , there is a great service and very efficient taxi service called New Ross Taxi Will not be rushing back. Would love to visit New Ross again as we did have a wonderful meal downtown in Bearu restaurant and locals could not be more friendly New Ross is a great town with great people. It needs more hotels
The breakfast was excellent! €15 all you can eat
Scenery was great. But not near anything . To exspensive also. The pool was ok but the towels were dirty.
Very exspensive . Near nothing .
bed was comfortable, good ventilations, breakfast and evening meals were fantastic
Staff where outstanding. The food was brillant.
What I liked was the hotel’s location and the family-friendly facilities, such as the playground and the kids’ cinema. The hotel looked fantastic in the photos, especially with the swimming pool, which was the main reason we chose to book it. Unfortunately, the reality was different because the pool was closed and not in use. It was very disappointing, especially since this was the main feature that influenced our decision to stay at the hotel.
What I didn’t like was that the swimming pool was closed and not in use. We booked this hotel specifically because of the pool. Our kids were really excited and had even bought lots of things to enjoy an evening by the pool. Before our arrival, I received several messages on the 23rd, 26th, and 27th saying that our room was being prepared, which was appreciated. However, at no point did anyone inform us that the pool would be unavailable. If we had known in advance, we would have chosen a different hotel. When I asked at reception why nobody had informed us, the response was simply, “Sorry about that.”When I asked somebody from staff, I was told that the pool had been closed since the morning /afternoon. This means there was plenty of time to inform guests before they arrived, allowing us to decide whether we still wanted to stay.. Better communication would have allowed us to make an informed decision before our stay.
Had a lovely 2 night stay here last week. The food was really good. Staff were very friendly. Weather was fantastic so we enjoyed drinks outside both days. Would definitely recommend
Nice rooms, polite and attentive staff, good breakfast, fantastic food on the bar menu. Leisure centre facilities getting a little tired and in need of attention, bar staff a wee bit slow. Heavier shower curtains probably wouldn't go amiss and refreshing some of the bathroom fittings..... But.....a really good stay.....well placed for a short adve ture around st wexford.
The area was lovely. The gardens were beautiful
We went with our two special needs girls so we could have a couple of days in the hotel and let them swim as it’s limited what they can do. We got told Tuesday at dinner time when we had come back to the hotel for the pool that it was closed for maintenance so we were left with nothing to do with our girls on one of the hottest days. They were very short about the whole thing as much as so what. But to us it was the whole reason for going to a hotel with a pool. Surely maintenance is planned and people should be informed. 😞 we left early as girls were fed up in the room. We were not comfortable in the restaurant as its bus loads of elderly people. But building is lovely
Lovely hotel, nice staff, good food, spa and pool
We had a wonderful stay , staff and food were excellent , some small things like changing rooms at the pool and under staffed in bar restaurant etc, but these most definitely are out weighted by the wonderful atmosphere and the staff who were there especially Lucy on reception and Eowyn in the food areas . Overall we were very happy .
Brandon House Hotel is a gem. We arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome from the night porter. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with everything we needed and more. We'd a great sleep in the large super king bed. Breakfast was top notch, there was a large selection on offer. Staff were friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night to break our journey but we're look forward to returning for a longer stay in the future.
Very good hotel, rooms a good size and beds comfortable, had a good breakfast, staff very welcoming with a special mention to Alex the night porter and barman. It's about a 20 minute leisurely walk into New Ross, which is Ok in the dry but not a lot of fun in the rain! We saw the pool and spa facilities which all looked good, though we didn't have time to use them.
Brilliant hotel helpful staff lovely walk in the grounds and great swimming pool the food in the library bar was excellent would definitely return again very convenient for the morning ferry’s from Rosslare
Only slight gripe about the stay was WiFi in the room was hit or miss
My husband and I were planning on staying for one night only. Some plans fell through, so we asked to book another night and stay in the same room. They were very accommodating and made it work for us. It was a beautiful location with New Ross in walking distance. There was a large free parking lot. It was very welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. The room was a decent size, but it felt very warm. I'd recommend bringing your own washcloth, if necessary. There was a surcharge for the breakfast in the morning, so we did not partake. We had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed New Ross. I'm not sure it was worth it's value, but we didn't partake in all the amenities. It might've been that we only used it as a basic hotel, so it very like a very basic hotel.
Everything was perfect it was so relaxing
Beautiful establishment set in amazing surroundings. The staff were lovely, the rooms large and well appointed. The bar was well stocked and the food was delicious
Absolutely nothing
The evening meal food was great, mostly great staff, room was nice and clean and room service was ideal.
The view in the room, lunch was ok and cocktails need ice but only small things I like that maybe others dont x
A wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were welcoming, the food was exceptional, and the room was large, clean, and comfortable. A beautiful Hotel. The views around the property were stunning. Would stay again.
The hotel was lovely Reception was great very friendly staff Our room had everything we needed, the beds were very comfortable. We had a great 2 nights sleep We had fresh towels each day Lovely Elmis products Room was kept very clean and inspected by Clare the Head Housekepper each day who was lovely. The food was delicious we had lovely breakfasts and had dinner which was really good the staff were very attentive. We also had afternoon tea which was very good and very reasonable for 30euro pp we had so much we couldn't finish it. Overall this hotel is excellent with lovely staff thank you for making our stay very enjoyable.
Really well thought out hotel, very friendly.
Everything fine
The staff were very friendly and helpful, from the front office to housekeeping, very friendly. Rooms are lovely and spacious, food was gorgeous and location is perfect for sight seeing
Nothing to complain about
Lovely hotel. Beautiful grounds. Food fab
Nothing
Lovely beds, very quiet, excellent breakfast, plenty of variety, excellent staff from reception/Bar/Restuarant - very polite and helpful. Used spa - staff there were great also!
Nothing - Great stay
Beautiful and the park outside is bonus points
The entrance , you can only get there by car from main road..
The beds were comfortable, the thermal suite was ok
The food wasn't great and dinner was microwaved , breakfast was disappointing
We had the most wonderful stay at Brandon House Hotel and couldn't be happier with our experience. The hotel is absolutely lovely, with beautifully renovated rooms, stunning views, and a peaceful location just outside the charming town of New Ross. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and made our stay even more enjoyable. What truly made our visit special was the exceptional service. Everyone was friendly, professional, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to Sylwia at reception for her kindness and helpfulness throughout our stay. The restaurant was also outstanding. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served incredibly quickly. A big thank you to Mena and all the restaurant staff for their excellent service, and all the lovely treats. Everything about our stay was amazing.Thank you to the entire team at Brandon House Hotel for making our visit so memorable. We look forward to returning again soon!
Came here for a carvery and left with an empty stomach. The food was awful. Like really bad. For the price too? I won’t ever be back. The only hotel in the town you’d expect them to at least make edible food. Avoid and go anywhere else.
Friendly staff, lovely food, great grounds, accessible location
Cocktail barmaid was visibly angry when we ordered...she was overwhelmed and let us know it
Staff are lovely, the location is so relaxing
Bed a little too soft, but thats just a personal thing
Booked the hotel to visit relatives while attending a first communion in Waterford, we thought the hotel was expensive but thought it was a special event we would use a token we had to pay for the hotel. We arrived to a very noisey family row at the hotel entrance, fortunately the police arrived but the arguments continued well into the evening. Staff are very friendly, our room was basic, breakfast was very good, swimming pool was ok but had no security. We were disappointed
Stayed three nights with my aunt who knew the hotel from years gone by. Positives: Set in beautiful grounds, within walking distance to New Ross, nicely renovated bar serving good food. Negatives: Rooms tired and in need of an update, no suitable lights for reading in the bedroom. The pool area and changing rooms looked tired and in need of redecoration. On the middle night of our stay, very late at night, there was a group of very noisy men using bad language outside the entrance doors very near the bedroom windows, for a considerable time. In the end, they dispersed after smashing a glass and a car horn was sounded.
Very comfortable and friendly. Breakfasts and evening meals are excellent.
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Nice facilities for kids.
Staff were friendly and helpful, food was wonderful. Room was clean and luxurious, breakfast had an amazing selection and the omelette station was devine. And there is a beautiful walk around the hotel and live music in the bar. Overall it was.a.fantastic stay
