The location was good, excellent view from the room. Staff helpful and friendly .Breakfast was at best average.

There is a Chinese Restaurant in the building which we didn't try, so can't comment on the food, but the smell of the oil used in the food preparation managed to penetrate the building. The rooms had no air conditioning, so it must be horrendous when hot.

Dislikes: 1. The location takes 15-20 mins to walk to the town centre, I wish I had chosen a hotel closer to town. 2. Reservations don't work Saturdays and Sundays, so if you want to make changes to your reservation on the weekend after you arrive you would have to wait until Monday as Reception will not help. 3. The bedroom is not soundproofed so you can hear people talking in the corridor, the bedroom doors do not have soft-close so you hear bedroom doors slamming shut. 4. The bathroom has no window or no extractor fan

Casino staff were great.

Room was in a poor state, bathroom tap dripped endlessly, hole in shower curtain, bulbs next to bed didnt work, toilet roll holder loose, and no plug sockets next to the bed. Waiting staff in breakfast hall all zombies with a language barrier in some cases too.

There are only two plus points for this hotel one being the free car park the other being the sea view.

The hotel is very outdated, needs a complete refurbishment especially the bathrooms. The dining needs to change as priority is given to coach parties and groups for dinner in the restaurant while other residents have to use the bar area which is very busy and noisy although the food is good .

we liked this hotel that much we are going to book for next year. our room was lovely very clean bedding was spotless ,only thing i found was the iron was a dry iron not steam, but wasnt something i would bad mark hotel for, my husband found there was not too much room between toilet and bath again would not detour us from stopping again. The staff are all so friendly too. The breakfast was beautiful plenty of choice

could have done with a steam iron and a little more space between toilet and bath, if your tall your knees maybe touching bath when your sat

Noise from the air conditioning unit

In recent times parking restrictions in Douglas have become more of a problem. The Best Western has a very large car park which solves that problem. It also has more facilities than most hotels, offers a great breakfast service and has lots of friendly and helpful staff. All at a reasonable price.

For me there was nothing to complain about, give it a try, see for yourself.

Bed was too hard, caused hip pain. Hotel generally felt tired and old, needs deep clean and refurb. Strong smell of cigarette smoke from smokers at promenade entrance could be smelt throughout lobby areas.

No socket next to the bed, description says socket close to the bed but was actually across the room opposite the bed. The round table next to the bed on one side was unnecessary, I would have preferred more space and a small bedside unit like the other side of the bed. There was no air conditioning and no small window to leave open, only the sliding door for the balcony. What we really didn't like was the interruption, twice, just after settling in. The first was a man who knocked and shouted "room service!" and entered without consent until stopped by my partner, the man had no tray and we had not ordered anything. He left after apologising and saying he thought the room was empty. Ten minutes later, a woman knocked on the door and my partner answered, she said she was from housekeeping but again had nothing in her hands and we had not requested anything. She apologised and said she thought the room was empty.

Clean room sea view which was a nice bonus.

Over the bath shower, shower head wasn't very secure staff only came in on third day , had to pay extra for breakfast but it was a good breakfast selection, but overall it served my needs.

Breakfast was great! Pool area is lovely too. Staff are very kind and responsive.

Carpet was totally worn out in deluxe room. Room and bathroom generally need an upgrade. Not 4* I wouldn’t say but views are spectacular and the room was okay. We will go back, as health club facilities are a bonus and rates are reasonable.

Location was superb with close bus and horse tram stops and free car parking for residents a bonus. Breakfast was good with a great choice. The view from the room was great. We asked for a sea view and ended up with a balcony which with the hot weather was superb for ventilation.. Looky,s bar was good for food with a good selection at reasonable prices although during the world cup spaces were limited. We used the Majestic Chinese. Again the food was good and prices reasonable. Te staff were always cheerful and helful.

Building looking a little tired and a shame that the Paragon restaurant and, apart from breakfast, was limited to coach etc parties.

Location within easy walking distance to Douglas and large free carpark. Excellent breakfast with friendly staff. Use of gym and swimming pool. Good WiFi. Lovely sea view.

Rooms only cleaned every 3rd day and so we had to ask for bin liners, clean mugs, tea supplies etc. Not a huge problem as cleaning staff were lovely and helpful but annoying!

Everything was excellent as always when we all.stay for the manx 2 day trial wouldn't go anywhere else

The restaurant was lovely, though we only used it once as we wanted to sample other places during our 5 night stay. Loved the seaview from our room.

Not so much, didn't like, but was a bit disappointed.... We had a 'balcony' as requested, but it was too small for even a chair! Room was only cleaned every three days, though we could request tea/coffee, towels if required...we didn't do that!

The breakfast was lovely could not have faulted..location was lovely too

Brilliant location and good carpark. Staff were lovely and helpful. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, the only slight downside is that it's a bit tired and in need of an update, this in no way spoilt our trip and I would return. Most importantly, the breakfast is ace.

Perfect location. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay with attention to small but important details, for example, floors, stairs, bed, headboard, doors do not creak. Main doors do not slam. No noise heard from neighbouring rooms. Good food in the bar or via room service. Great choice of breakfast food. Gym and spa/swimming pool included in price. Clean and tidy. Rumble of air condition units serving lower floor were mounted on flat roof outside our window, but did'nt spoil our stay. Only 1 double wall socket in room.

The hotel is extremely tired. The communal areas are dirty and obviously have not been hoovered or cleaned for ages; even the carpets in the rooms are not brilliantly hoovered - the bottom of my husband's socks were covered in hairs and 'bits' from walking on the carpets in the room.. The website clearly stated we could book breakfast and an evening meal on the day but this was not possible because we had not booked in advance; but when we tried to book online, the option was unavailable as we could book on the day; therefore, this information should be removed from the website as it is extremely misleading. We chose this hotel as we had stayed previously a few years ago and as we were travelling with my 90 year old mother and wished to be able to have an early evening meal at the hotel to accommodate her preferences, however, this was not possible.

The hotel is in a perfect position for transport around the island and walking into Douglas The facilities were excellent, we used the leisure facilities several times and it was always very clean and well tended to, we used Lookys bar for food which was very good and great value for money

Looking its age in need of updating. Carpets and furniture well worn. No restaurant for residents, advised only for coach parties, with a restricted menu. Food available at bar, but not my idea of 4 star facilities. Bedroom cleaned after 3 day intervals, so dirty bed and bathroom at that time, and coffee/tea only replenished on asking. Again NOT 4 star!

Location, Room size, Large patio windows. We even had ago in the Casino (first time ever), lost a fiver! House always wins.

Room only had 2 usable sockets. The other 2 were occupied by the TV. This made for lots of swapping over when charging phones, fans, kettle etc. There were other sockets by the bed but these had been covered over.

Very easy check-in with some hiccups with key cards (new system being put in during our stay) that was swiftly put right. Breakfast was amazing and top quality, you really can’t do better in Douglas. As said before, the room let the hotel down. The room was facing the car park, the heat was intense, the fan didn't cut it. Opening the window is an option when the machinery calms down. The rooms could also do with a refresh. On the positive side, the food is excellent, the staff friendly and the facilities make it a 4 star with pool, jacuzzi and gym. Never used the slots or casino but there if you fancy it. Lookys bar is fine too, and even cheaper than some of the local pubs.

⭐☆☆☆☆ If you’re looking for a genuine 4-star hotel experience, keep driving. The rooms were like sleeping inside a pizza oven whenever the weather got warm. Three nights of trying to survive the heat should probably count as an endurance sport. Housekeeping must have been on annual leave because not once during my stay did anyone service the room. No fresh towels, no clean bedding… nothing. By the first night, some of the lights had also given up, which at least made it harder to see how tired the room looked. To be fair, the bar and casino have had a nice upgrade. Unfortunately, that’s where the investment seems to have stopped. Once you leave those areas, the hotel feels like it’s been forgotten. Calling this a 4-star hotel is incredibly generous. I’d struggle to give it 2 stars, let alone 4. The only thing that was consistently hot was the room. A very disappointing stay, and sadly not one I’d recommend.

Grubby ,basic ,breakfast good thats why a 2 star otherwise it would be a 1 star ,all the rooms are tired the main entrance is round the back it needs closing and starting again ,the entrance carpets look like pub carpets from the 80s which they probably are ,definitely not worth the £500 plus i paid for the 5 nights

Big car park. Great food in Looky’s. Convenient location, albeit a long walk to the Electric Railway and even longer to the Steam Trains.

Room insufficient storage space, didn’t have a walk in shower (had to step into a bath, although plenty of grab rails). No aircon.
