Die Lage
Facilities were really good, breakfast was very impressive and overall hotel staff couldn't fault them
My partner struggled to sleep as the matress in our room wasnt the best.
Great location and spotlessly clean rooms. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Liked the views and the helpful staff the loction is superb.
The place is worn out and used for a wedding venue so can be noisy at weekends however the staff will endeavour to get you a room as far away as possible from any main events there. Television was minute, and old-fashioned, impossible to watch in bed
location
Location, helpful friendly staff
Breakfast looked and tasted reheated
Great location
Have stayed here before. I think it's getting a little tired.
Lovely rooms and comfortable beds.
Breakfast was a bit of a letdown. Limited range of food and poor quality coffee.
Location
Side lamps on bedside not working, all the lamps on desk area not working.
Location
Needs to be refurbished
Location and view
Room was cold and heating didn't work
Location is great.
Very dated decor. Not changed much since the last time we stayed over 10 years ago. Barman was awful, extremely slow (not good when events were happening) no bar skills. Ordered a double JD & coke, he filled the glass up with coke and no offer of ice. Nothing! Overall very disappointed.
Location
No aircon
superb location outstanding views lovely walks right on the doorstep, very spacious room ,
its a little outdated but very clean , cosy and welcoming after all its a 3* although no handwash at sink in bathroom, no basic information in room about hotel layout , and needed more staff on hand to clear main areas at front where people had been eating , dishes and food remnants were left for quite a while , quite a few tables were like that
Very nice location

The staff were courteous, helpful and really went the extra mile to help us both. The location is perfect on the coast. Quiet, convenient and really provides the holiday feel. Breakfast was lovely. Rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable
Zero.
The location was lovely , the staff were very nice , and the food was very good , we don’t like heavy food on an evening, we were able to get lovely sandwiches at 7.45 which suited us perfectly, breakfast was very nice too we would definitely book again
We payed for a room with a view but unfortunately we were looking out at a wooden bench and bushes , I was a little disappointed that we couldn’t see the water if we had a upper room we would have a better view ,I did ask if we could be move but unfortunately the hotel was full , and we did only book the day before arrival
We often visit the Boardwalk for coffee and T. cakes. The service during the week is fine and the quality of the food. Unfortunately it’s not the case at weekends. Everyone’s priority is given to the organising of events. The service drops drastically. The coffee Luke warm and tea cakes not toasted enough. The Boardwalk access is given over to Sunday Lunch prep. Don’t visit on weekends.
Pretty much on the beach, with a close up view of marine traffic in and out of Newcastle.
These days I expect to find phone charger points in my room but these were lacking. Then there was the karaoke!
Everything
Nothing
Everything was absolutely spot on
Nothing everything was perfect
The location is by far the reason for staying at the Little Haven. The room seemed to be getting a little tired but was nevertheless clean. Brilliant for an overnight stay. But will come back.
Nothing really.
The location is excellent
There was no hair dryer in the room - even in the cheapest hotels.I've ever stayed in, there's always been a hair dryer!, i know I could go down to reception and get one , but that's no good if you've already got wet hair! The room was warm and comfortable and had a great view, but the décor was very bland it could have done with more vibrant pictures on the walls. It was all very beige.
The location is by far the reason for staying at the Little Haven as it is a short walk into town and also the rest of the sea front including the fun fair. The room seemed to be getting a little tired but was nevertheless clean. The quality of food, both breakfast and evening meal, was largely dependent on the chef on duty at the time although always reasonable the inconsistency was noticeable.
Nothing to say here really except maybe the uncertainty of whether the bar would be open when returning to the hotel after a night out. This seemed to be dependent on the number of people in the bar to how long it stayed open.
Great location on the sea front
Been several times before but only to the restaurant decided to come up from Norfolk and stay a couple of nights it was brilliant. The staff were very helpful and friendly the room was lovely and clean.
Breakfast seem disorganised, you are given a table then it’s up to you, the cooked food trolley was all covered so had to wait for a staff member the sausages didn’t looked cooked (probably were but pale) people looking lost to see what to do…..
The low room with a river view was more a view of the people on the bench directly below the window.
Breakfast was full of choice from cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, tea coffee, fruit juices and a full English breakfast with a choice of poached, fried or scrambled eggs. jams, marmalade, marmite or honey mini pots.No complaints at all, Oat milk and gluten free bread available.
No complaints.
all good
Loved the position of the property and had a lovely view.
Little bit tired in places, borrowed an iron and ironing board but wasn’t a steam iron which made ironing a heavy cotton shirt hard work.
On the beach
We were put in a room next door to a wedding party noise all night doors opening and shutting music blasting. Would never go back!
My daughter and I had a very pleasant stay here. The staff were very helpful especially when I wanted to move to a separate room from the one booked to share with my daughter. It is sometimes difficult to explain that not all people booking a double or twin are necessarily a couple, but this was no problem here. The hotel had everything we needed and a super position. It would just have been nice if the bar area had been open as well as the bar in the dining room, but no doubt that is due to lack of suitable staff which is a common problem nowadays ! We would certainly come back if circumstances allowed.
We stayed for a few days a from the 5-9th July 2026. And we were warmly welcomed by a lady on reception named Jeanjie. She was very attentive and very kind to us. We were also impressed with the lady who attended our room Charlotte. Unfortunately the safe had been locked by the previous occupants, and we weren’t able to use it. Charlotte did try to help, And was very obliging, however the safe could not be unlocked. It is a lovely area to stay in and plenty to see and do.
Another lovely stay with my husband and Grandchildren. 3 nights in a Junior suite. Fabulous band on the Saturday (Rivelino). It was a little busy as there was a wedding, this affected our breakfast as we had to sit in the lounge alone rather than the restaurant. (Don't put pepper in your baked beans, we can do that ourselves if we like) Some of the waiting staff look very unhappy, helps to smile occasionally. The reception ladies and domestic staff were lovely. Spotlessly clean throughout. Excellent location for the beach. We'll be back again.
Very clean room let down by light switches not working had to take bulbs out for night time lift unsafe for children grab rail missing just bars sticking out which can cause bangs on the head if not aware parking is excellent views are to does for food is mediocre at best service in restaurant is very slow and understaffed shame
Pros: good location- nice staff- food acceptable Cons: This hotel requires urgent upgrades and modernisation still back in the dark ages Restaurant: Too small and dated. Locatied in a very dirty conservatory the roof filthy not nice view when your eating. Serving hot beverages in baby cups.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. It is in a great location.
Nothing at all.
Is what it is . Similar to chain brands
Dated restaurant but clean and good food
excellent location
very clean
Location.
Dated decor feel, seems to cater towards an elderly clientele, I only stayed one night but felt I was too young for this place (I am 56!)
Little Haven what has happened to the cooking of the bacon at breakfast? I have stayed many times but this time the bacon appears to have been boiled it is a grey colour and then put on a barbecue to achieve 3 brown lines across it giving a high smokey flavour but not cooked through. Disgusting! English bacon should be pink my brown with crispy fat.
Beautiful Hotel right at the beach with great views, bedroom had enough room and was spotless. The food in the restaurant was good, Sunday roast dinner was great beef just melted in your mouth and the staff worked hard, and very helpful. Had a great weekend and would definitely recommend
Good location
Very basic dated , very poor customer service . My mother in law was 100 advised at time of booking the put a printed fold piece of paper say happy birthday and a bag of fudge - insult . My mother in law had stayed at this hotel many times 😠. It had new owners and staff that don’t care didn’t even ask if are stay was okay on check out . Just awful for £150 per night for a 2star at best - get in the hotel inspector!
Good location. Nice staff food reasonable .
Noisy hotel catering for corporate functions. No air condition in hotel No room fridge. No room hairdryer. Restaurant service slow and the room conservatory windows were filthy. Bed most uncomfortable more like a water bed mattress too soft. Overall it needs total refuvirb
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a fantastic stay at the Little Haven Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a lovely sea view. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and couldn't do enough to help. The food was delicious, and the location is perfect for a relaxing walk along the beach. A wonderful place to unwind, and I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! 🌊❤️
This hotel is travel lodge standard but charge £150 per night ! Awful kids running around as a leavers party throwing up on staircase . Dreadful lumpy mattress , 1 pillow . Anemic breakfast . Never again poor customer service all round not worth the money .
The room was comfortable
Very hot at breakfast in the conservatory very noisy from the room above very late at night them running across the floor And noisy outside from a party until very late
Beachside location, quaint, intimate. Short pleasant walk into South Shields
Property was fine, just no extra facilities but that was ok for what we wanted. Bit of a wait at the bars at times.
A gem of a hotel situated in a lovely, quiet location at the end of the waterfront in South Shields, with plenty parking and very close to the beach. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. This is a family run hotel and I'd recommend to anyone. I'd definitely return.
Staff were polite even though they were a few short of a full compliment.
Room was supposed to have sea view, it didn't, the first room offered looked back into Northshields, this was changed for one facing Tynemouth, we could see the Northsea if we looked sideways. The bed was uncomfortable I think it should have had a topper. Window had thin curtains, blackout blinds needed!
Generally good
The food
Great stay in a friendly family run hotel. Relaxed feeling with everything you need for a great stay.
Mattress needed changing.
Excellent location on the mouth of the Tyne. Good outside seating area for drinks etc. Everywhere clean and tidy.
Location. Breakfast menu. Toiletries. Room Tea,coffee making facilities. Size of towels.
Size of room could have housed a bigger bed. Disappointed bar didn't have any lemon for drinks, especially given breakfast menu had lemon slices for teas and premium bar prices charged! Shower only just acceptable. Guests do not need to hear staff discussing/arguing about who is going to work late or at what time! Breakfast on last morning was a fiasco. I had to ask for the table to be cleared and reset before sitting down. Then had to ask for bread for toaster, brown arrived but no white which also had to be asked for. Then had to request hot water for the tea, a milk jug, side plates, teaspoons. The staff could not keep up with the demand. Worst of all, because it was hot, windows open meant we could hear every word spoken by guests outside talking on phones, smoking and car doors slamming from early. Location is your best asset!
Their room is clean and their staffs are accommodating and welcoming
Absolutely nothing
After a major problem with our booked Airbnb, the staff at the Little Haven Hotel went above and beyond in giving us a place to spend the two nights, instead of possibly heading home. The reception staff went even further in storing our food, which was planned for the B&B, in a fridge for the duration of our stay, which also included freezing our freezer blocks, ready for our journey back home. The room, a family one, was clean and adequate for our stay, with a wonderful view across the entrance of the River Tyne and out to sea. The breakfast was very welcomed and there was so much variety, that we were all well fed. We will definitely be making a welcome return in the future.
Location
In need of an update
Every single member of staff we met were kind, friendly and helpful, we had an issue with the room and this was resolved immediately. The room was comfortable with the most beautiful view of the sea and passing boats. The location was perfect, right beside the beach and we loved the outside seating area.
Hairdryers and iron/boards are available on request. Breakfasts are cooked to order so expect this to take longer than usual.
Friendly staff , from receptionist to the cleaners everyone had a cheerful smile and friendly welcome. Booked room with a view and was really impressed.
Best location great views and comfortable.
Food not that good.
great locaton.good value great food.
The suite was amazing and worth the extra money. Balconies and views. Stunning location.
The dining area was a conservatory and very hot in the morning. The food was disappointing. Free wifi was only in the lounge. Understaffed at times.
Booked a River view room for one night. Arrived to a big car park which is not the hotels but a private car park still free but you have to put your licence plate no into a wall computer next to reception. Checking in was good. There is a lift or stairs. Room was a good size with good area’s to store your belongings. A safe was in the room. Bathroom good size, shower was over the bath. Room was clean and airy. The river view was excellent. We went bed and breakfast. At breakfast time it was very busy and noisy because the hotel had two bus trips in plus guests who were stopping. It was a buffet style but not a lot of room with so many getting food at the same time. Food was ok. The staff was ever so helpful even though they were under pressure to give everyone what they wanted. Unfortunately it was not a great experience with so many people trying to get food before their coach was leaving. In hindsight maybe the hotel could try and organise breakfast if so many people want breakfast at the same time. Checking out was 10-30. The hotel is in a prominent for the beach. There are outside tables if you want to have a coffee if weather is good.
The location is excellent
No hairdryer in room
Location
Breakfast. Full breakfast cooked items were thrown onto plate. Did not look appetising. Some people had no clean tables to sit at, had to wait for staff to reset them.
The room was lovely and the views was amazing

Lovely location.
Tired and worn out tbh I paid £158 pound for the night and it’s not worth that … I stay in a lot of hotels and this isn’t value for money.
The staff were very nice and the location is superb
The mattress wasnt very comfortable
Situation … on the sea shore Most comfortable in all respects Great parking
Nothing
The location was lovely
Rooms are very dated, not enough plugs and no usb ports on plugs which is the normal for hotels now. Shower was fixed to the wall and could not be moved. Breakfast was okay the first morning. The second morning the breakfast took forever to come and the hash brown was solid (very over cooked) and the sausage was only cooked on one side and raw on the other - the server said “that’s the way they have been all morning” when the hash brown was pointed out to them
Its position
The room was substandard. Bedside lights didn’t work, only main light. No hairdryer in room. Electric kettle didn’t work. Bed was very uncomfortable. No food of any sort available on arrival at :8:30 pm.
Hotel was clean in a nice position
The breakfast service needs someone to over look it no organisation run out of juice, bread for toast,
I had to rate as there were no stars available . Myself and my partner have frequented this hotel for a number of years we have been regular customers. We have always found the waiting staff friendly and professional and have provided a good service overall. Unfortunately the management staff are in a totally different league absolutely deplorable. Require customer service training. Absolutely appalling management customer service. I have been trying to get a response to a simple query since 31.5.26. I have made several attempts to get an answer to my query . In person x3 attended the hotel, telephone calls at the hotel x5 emails x5 . No response. Due to the sheer lack of response I contacted the hotel again 21.6.26 and spoke to a staff member who advised Management did not work weekends. I contacted the Hotel again on 23.6.26 member of staff stated that management could not come to the phone and would contact me that day either by email or telephone. No response totally unacceptable. I would suggest Eamonn Gribben gets customer service training for his management staff .
Ordered coffee and toast. Problem with card machine which was eventuality corrected. However staff decided to hold a meeting and our order was forgotten. Some 50 minutes later a reminder was made to the restaurant and the coffee/toast arrived. Very poor service but the car park was free for the day
Location great food was good
Arrived and was welcomed immediately by a local sounding gentleman on reception checked in, in minutes. I ate in the hotel on four nights having a different meal every night. Each meal was plentiful and so tasty. The breakfasts were also plentiful and lots of choice. The waiting staff were attentive and always happy to help even at extremely busy times. The room was large and spacious but a little dated I'd say USB charging points in the room are now expected. The bathroom was of good quality and good standard. The location is lovely if you like the coast with walks right onto the coast but only a 15 minute walk up to the town.
Just returned from 3 nights at Little Haven. The location is brilliant, right at the mouth of The River Tyne, with sand dunes behind it and lovely views out to sea. The location is SO good that it has in the past compensated for a few drawbacks. This year it felt like the hotel was really making an extra effort, well done. Comfortable bed in a very clean first floor room - we loved watching the big ships sailing in and out of The Tyne from our window. Good breakfasts (especially the baked beans!) although the conservatory glass roof needs a share of some kind to keep the temperature comfortable. It was great to see Cheryl's cheerful face overseeing the mornings very efficiently at the weekend - turned out she is also responsible for the excellent housekeeping. Friendly staff throughout, which makes such a difference. Warm and welcoming ambience throughout. We'll be back next summer!
Everything
Were it is lovely walk along beach
Everything
Clean and great location. We had an immaculate suite with 2 balconies and enjoyed the peace watching the ships go by
Breakfast was basic and limited, the loaf of bread for toast just put on side in wrapper, not much choice of pastry just one. We asked for we’ll done breakfast and sent it back as bacon was quite undercooked
Location
Dirty hotel , breakfast not cooked properly husband ended Ill, dad ended Ill, lack of staff, room wasn’t cleaned, no loo roll, but no staff to ask, the write. Up in description, was not correct, for the amount of money it cost, it was a whole disappointment,
great location
place could do with a freshen up.
Excellent location.
Bed a little uncomfortable. A mattress topper would be lovely Pillows like rocks
Location is outstanding. We love this hotel. Views are amazing. Close to the attractions, walking distance to restaurants in the town centre. Staff are lovely. Bar staff especially. Can't wait to go back next year.
Had a wonderful afternoon here for mams 100th birthday party. Jessica the hotels events organiser made sure everything went smoothly and the room was lovely. Waiting staff were very good as was the food for the buffet. Everyone had a lovely time. I’m sure we will be back for our next celebration
Wifey & I always stay at this hotel when we’re up in the North East. the staff are fantastic and always helpful. the facilities are good and parking is easy but, as people have already stated, remember to log your stay in the tablet by the lift ! yes, she’s showing her age and we know the owners a re gradual updating the rooms etc but the hotel is always spotlessly clean! Despite there being several events going on over the weekend including several birthday parties & a wedding reception we didn’t hear any noise at all ! A couple of minor niggles…Saturday night it seemed that all the staff disappeared at 10:30PM and there was no one behind the bar if you wanted a drink. Also the breakfast on Saturday was more generous than the one on Sunday ie 2 sausages, 2 hash browns, 2 poached eggs whereas on Sunday all these were one of each only. Like I said minor niggles..it was our wedding anniversary and there was a card waiting for us from the hotel in our room when we arrived which was a nice touch ! Just a small heads up…if your satnav brings you from the town centre and along the road parallel to the river, the bridge is closed 9 possibly for 2-3 years0 so enter via Ocean Road and turn left back towards the river !
Breakfast excellent
Lacked atmosphere, could have had an area as a lounge /entertainment area, ie music / bingo
Location
No fridge
Excellent as always highly recommend it
Location and view
We got married at The Little Haven Hotel and I couldn’t recommend it enough. We had a Twilight Wedding which was amazing. First of all I must mention Jess, the wedding coordinator. She is an absolute DREAM to work with and took care of everything! We had lots of DIY bits and decorations and I simply handed them off to Jess the day before and she made everything perdect. The rooms were decorated beautifully and to our request - they have a standard package but we tweaked this and changed a few things to make it totally personal. The buffet was excellent - the guests all loved it! We also brought some additional cakes and it was no problem. We stayed in the Collingwood Suite the night before and the night of the wedding. This meant the bridal party had a huge space to get ready on the morning. The room is massive and super clean. There was a smell coming from downstairs but the lovely lady on reception dealt with this swiflty for us. We were able to bring all of our decorations and cakes the day before - Jess and the team ensured they were stored and kept safely. The whole team made our day so smooth and stress free and I will be eternally grateful!
Everything not one complaint Dog friendly
Nothing Perfect for us.
Polite and attentive staff.
Missing toilet brush. Conservatory windows needed cleaning.
It was amazing
Lovely location, clean
The beds were a hazard. Extremely dangerous, especially for older people. They were on wheels (no brakes) on a hard floor so just moved around everywhere, couldn’t even sit up and relax in bed as just moved away from the wall. Not sure if this is the case in all bedrooms but I did report it to reception team.
Location of the hotel was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff at reception were lovely and very helpful.
Breakfast was a bit hit and miss with some items not being available on certain mornings. For the cost of the stay would have liked a bit more variety, but what we ate was fine. Sometimes a bit of a wait to have your order taken for the cooked breakfast, but nothing life threatening.
Loved the hotel everyone helpful Parking facilities perfect Position of the hotel fantastic
Nothing I didn’t like
