Great location
Unusual smell in bar area. Building is a maze! Rooms of same category vary hugely with some much better than others.
Nice hotel, good location
Hard bed
We’ve visited this property multiple times and have enjoyed our stay each time

Clean great location and helpful staff
Sehr sehr schönes Hotel personal super freundlich gerne wieder
Es gibt nicht zu beanstanden
Great Room, stayed in the Junior Suite. Decent Breakfast selection. Live Music during the stay and evenings
Location is very convenient
We did not like breakfast buffet which had limited to options
Rooms were comfortable and stocked with coffee and tea. Carpeted floors. Restaurant and bar very nicely fitted. Good central location.
No longer parking available with the hotel, spa was closed for refurbishment - the main reason I chose the hotel having used it a few years ago. But the room price still quite high given the facilities were closed. The walls are paper-thin and this particular stay was extremely noisy. Not sure I'll stay again, given the many other options in the Cotswolds for a similar price, and where breakfast is probably included.
Not great pillows clumpy, soft
Exceptional hotel and glorious room overlooking the market square. Reception staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Bar staff the same. Wish my stay had been longer!
Fantastic location with wonderful staff
Plug didn’t work in superior room, no facecloths or shower caps.
Great location. Room was bigger than expected. Food in restaurant was good.
Strange sewer smell in some areas. Lack of parking.
Beautiful rooms - elegantly restored - everything was spotless. Great service and an excellent breakfast.
Had evening meal and breakfast at hotel both were of high quality and excellent Lovely comfortable atmosphere
Our room was luxurious and overlooked the market square and church. It was very central and everywhere was within easy walking distance.
We couldn’t open the bedroom windows so it was a bit stuffy.
Location was great
Our room was a long walk and too many stairs from the entry. Didn’t help that the lift wasn’t Working but that wouldn’t help with the second set of stairs.
Loved interior design. Nice atmosphere. Beds very cosy.
Room cold.
Bar, restaurant and location was excellent.
The feature room was in an old part of the hotel and the floor was very uneven and quite disorienting. Loose plug sockets in wall by the bed. Mentioned it to staff and said they would fix them. Cobwebs in light fixtures.
Air conditioning, position, fab vegetarian breakfast.
Communication at check in could have been better.
Room was amazing bed was very comfy and lovely bathroom
Super!
Breakfast was very good - was very surprised and delighted to have an authentic flat white coffee88 at breakfast. Staff were very professional and accommodating.
The rooftop terrace was a little disappointing as there were hardly any views. Would have been good to have had freshly squeezed orange juice even if it cost extra.
Had an amazing visit for lunch today. We were served by Dani and Keira and the service was perfect. The food was unreal as well - the best we’ve eaten in a really long time. We cannot wait to come back!
Lovely hotel, in an ideal location, shame no parking on-site (but just a minor niggle). Bar and Breakfast staff were lovely and helpful, shame about receptionist staff who seemed bored and we were inconveniencing them by checking in.
We stayed here for two nights in room 112. The facilities within the room were excellent. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean with a desk for tea and coffee making facilities and two comfy armchairs as well as access onto a small roof terrace exclusive to the room with table and two chairs. Modern bathroom with walk-in shower and quality toiletries. Wall mounted TV with access to a variety of apps. We ate on both nights at the restaurant and the food was excellent and good value. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was also of a good quality. The bar was welcoming and well stocked with comfortably appointed seating areas and access to an outdoor area. All staff were friendly and efficient. There is no parking at the hotel but a drop-off area outside enabling bags to be left before parking in one of the town’s car parks which was a five minute walk away. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Great location in town centre, friendly and helpful staff. Very welcoming. Lovely, clean and spacious rooms.
1. Limited parking 2. Average breakfast
Beautiful building, decor, and service was brilliant.
Didn't have any negatives to report
We had a fabulous meal in the Kings Head Brassiere Cirencester last night, the best meal we have had for a while, i had the short rib of beef, the wife had chestnut and wild mushroom pie both were outstanding. The desserts were lush, the waitresses were very good, the pub/hotel is lovely with nice decor. We will definatley visit again.
The staff were absolutely amazing So lovely and helpful Highly recommend this motel and also loved the town. Ended up staying longer
Beautiful bar and amazing restaurant
The room was lovely and the location very central.
The receptionist on arrival was borderline rude.
Journeying south and visiting National Trust properties, we stayed for a night at this delightful Hotel. So much bigger than it appears from the outside, and the interior is very nicely set out with different themes in adjoining areas. Lovely courtyard to the rear, and the food served in the downstairs restaurant area was fine. Do remeber that if you wish to dine on a Sunday, then the restaurant last orders are 8.00pm. The bedrooms are extensive in number, and the one we were allocated had air conditioning which was certainly needed. Cool and quiet. Quality of the room was first class with really nice amenities. If there is any draw back to this Hotel, then it has to be the lack of a car park, although there is a set down point adjacent to the front door.
Every thing
Could have been a little cheaper
Beautiful building in centre of Cirencester Rooms comfortable great breakfast.
elevator not working so getting to upper floors was a chore
We had an amazing stay at the Kings Head. The hotel is a great central location for the Cotswolds. The check-in process was efficient, the bar staff were great and the food and service at the restaurant was very professional. We stayed in room 109, a large room which had a massive bed and bathroom. There can be some noise from the street outside, with people having a drink, but that noise ended by about 10.30pm. There is a large gym on the lower ground floor which has all the equipment you would ever need.
We had such an amazing experience staying at the Kings Head! We ended up there quite by accident after a terrible snafu with a third-party booking company, and we could not be more happy that we did. They took such good care of us, going above and beyond over and over again–even though it wasn’t even their mistake! Our room (a junior suite) far exceeded our expectations–it was so elegant, and probably the biggest and grandest hotel room we have ever stayed in. The bathroom alone was larger than our hotel room in London, and contained the most luxurious bathtub and shower. The building itself has loads of charm (parts of it date back to Roman times!), and two beautiful restaurants with some of the most delicious food we have had in England. (We had a free dinner the first night, but it was so scrumptious that we went back every night that we were in Cirencester. We got to know the head of food for the hotel group, and when we learned that he trained with Gordon Ramsey, it all made sense!) The hotel is located right in the center of Cirencester, surrounded by beautiful shops and restaurants. (Cirencester is only 18,000 people, but it has more interesting shopping and dining options than many cities.) We were there for 3 nights, and twice there were markets set up right across the street. We enjoyed the Corinium Museum, walking the grounds of the Bathurst Estate, checking out the 1000-year-old church, and more. It’s also very easy to take a bus to some of the other Cotswold villages. I *highly* recommend staying at the Kings Head–the customer service, facilities, food, and location make it a no-brainer.
Book here! If you are looking for a hotel in the Cotswolds that’s as much an experience as a place to stay, the Kings Head in the center of Cirencester is a good bet. My daughter and I stayed at this historic property, which was recently refurbished and updated. It’s super convenient located on the main street, close to the town’s famous 1,000-year-old “wool” church and excellent museum as well as interesting independent shops and pubs. We were impressed that the hotel’s new look complements the building’s original architectural features with a warm and comfortable decor, and our stylish room exceeded expectations. We also loved the breakfast and dinner menus — we tried several choices during our stay and all were so delicious that we were not tempted to try other spots in this “capital of the Cotswolds.” We enthusiastically recommend the Kings Head and hope to get back on our next trip to England.
Tuesday curry night is just exceptional, presentation is so fantastic, food is unreal and clearly authentically made. Id highly recommend for a fantastic experience to try it!
Everything was superb
Nothing
Modest rooms, but adequate for the price. View of brick wall, but who cares? Air conditioned bedrooms very welcome in heatwave.. Of course, no dedicated parking, but adequate and affordable (£10 for 3 days) parking a 5 minute walk.
Dinner service on our one visit to the brasserie was exasperatingly slow.
The staff are amazing 👏 Friendly smart and happy to help. Food 10/10 Drinks 10/10 Its a MUST VISIT BAR!!! ALSO FAMILY FRIENDLY and has outside seating Definitely give the restaurant and bar a visit Its ace 👌🏽
The whole thing is so underestimated. Much better than expected.
Parking is a small issue - no car park.
My wife and I visited the Kings Head Hotel for a meal recently. Although it was quite busy, the staff were welcoming and quickly found us a table. Our food arrived promptly, and the starter was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, while eating my Chicken Caesar Salad, I discovered a thin black metal object in the food that I very nearly swallowed. When I bit into it, it broke into several smaller pieces. I managed to remove the largest piece from my mouth and immediately went to the restroom to try to rinse out any remaining fragments. The manager was initially very concerned and took the object to the kitchen to investigate where it might have come from. When he returned, he explained that they had been unable to determine how the object had ended up in the food. He took my contact details and said that he would get back to me with further information. After this incident, however, the atmosphere changed noticeably. No desserts were offered, and the staff seemed to avoid our table until I eventually asked for the bill. To their credit, they did remove the Caesar Salad from the bill. I decided to delay leaving a review, hoping that the hotel would contact me with an explanation. However, more than a month has now passed, and I have received neither an explanation nor any indication of what the object was or how it came to be in my meal. The lack of follow-up was disappointing. It left me with the impression that perhaps the staff suspected we were simply trying to get a free meal. Had that been the case, I doubt we would have been drinking water throughout rather than ordering a bottle of wine, and we certainly were not looking for compensation beyond a proper explanation of what had happened. Finding a piece of metal in food is a serious matter, and while mistakes can happen, I would have expected better communication and follow-up from the hotel after the incident.
Very centrally located. Very nice bar and dining facilities. Nice comfortable spacious suite. Friendly staff.
Quite alot of stairs, unfortunately lift wasn't working but we were notified of this prior to our stay.
I love the location of the Kings Head. I have stayed numerous times and it is comfortable and clean. Stay are really helpful and professional.
Some rooms are a little noisy, but due to the location and the fact the bar and restaurant are downstairs.
Fantastic pub and atmosphere in a great location. The room was spacious, immaculate and characterful.
The lift was out of order.
Perfect location on the square for the shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a carpark 5 minute walk which is free from 6pm til 8am mon to fri but any money that takes you beyond 6pm is carried forward to the following day so no rush to pay at 8 am.
We should have asked for extra pillows, they were very soft and didn't realise until we got in bed.
Location was excellent. Food was good. Quite and safe
Had to walk numerous flights of stairs and corridors into another building. No help offered with our luggage.
Good location . Comfortable room. Clean bathroom.
Terrible stairs. Trip hazard in room with rug with curled edges.
Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
Repeat visit , has been refurbised since last stay, many the same staff - reception is friendly & professional Rest staff likewise - nothing too much trouble Look forward to return😊☀️
lift sadly out of action - it happens
Lovely hotel but not suitable for kids/babies or those with access needs. Tons of stairs and no working lift. But the room was lovely.
Breakfast very good rooms were up stairs with Lift out of order, couldn't access delux room took a standard room instead.
Lift broken, baggage porter service needed NOT offered
A lovely long w/e I. Such a lovely venue. The only issue was lift not working but we were informed with plenty of notice. We just took it slowly up the stairs!
The layout of the hotel and the room
Nothing Lift not working but hay ho
Nice location and comfortable beds
Stay in the hot spell and had no Air conditioning in our room We were advised there would be no lift working but wasn’t informed of the AC not working if we had if been we would have booked a different hotel
Got upgraded to a suite, was an absolutely amazing room. staff were friendly. Breakfast is excellent quality. Nice vibe in general in the hotel, classy interior with a nice bar inside. Surrounding area is clean and relaxed.
Nothing everything was great.
Its full of little attention to detail and excellently presented
We had lunch here with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons from Australia having first visited the Abbey. The two boys, aged 10 and 12 had the two course children’s menu which was outstanding value while the rest of us shared a variety of starters, all of which were beautifully cooked and presented. Service was friendly and efficient although a little on the slow side.
Location ideal, first impressions excellent. I had asked for a quiet room so was surprised to have been put in a room above the outside terrace. I felt that 20 people were in the bedroom with me. Asked to be moved, which I was, to the top floor, on the hottest day of year with no air con - but quiet enough :(. Food was excellent in the bistro for dinner and at breakfast. Audrey and her team at breakfast were super friendly and efficient, please pass on praise as its hard to keep good staff. Girl on reception not welcoming or chatty at anytime coming and going except when I left! I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Location was fantastic and the hotel has unique features. Room was really nice and bed comfortable.
Disappointed with the breakfast. Very basic selection. Had to wait a long time to get a drink. Food was tepid and eggs under done.
We had a delicious hot meal and the service was excellent. We wish we had eaten here on a previous occasion rather than going to The Fleece - where we were fleeced!! We would definitely eat here again. Superb.
We stayed at the kings head on Saturday 20th June. We started with coffee in the courtyard went out for an explore of Cirencester which was lovely. Then back to kings head for some drinks (live music was a bonus). We also ate in the restaurant and had a nice meal before having a good night sleep and a nice breakfast in the morning. Recommend staying here if you are visiting Cirencester.
The room, bed and bathroom were spacious and comfortable: a pleasure to be in and the cookies were a very nice touch! The bar and brasserie areas were ideal for being both in a large group and smaller groups. Bar staff were so helpful when we requested wine coolers to fill with water to keep our flowers fresh!
I had to go out and buy a shower cap as there wasn't one provided and I'd forgotten mine. There wasn't any (requested) decaf tea nor enough (requested) decaf coffee. I prefer a little fridge with real milk in it - again, we went out to buy some and kept it on the window sill. I find those fiddly hangers annoying - a real hanger is much easier to use.
Ideal location in the main high street rooftop terrace and very large comfortable bed.
Attractively decorated with large rooms. Good atmosphere. Very nice. Air conditioned room with king sized bed, very comfortable
No specific car park but one close so that was ok
The location of the hotel was very good. The bar, restaurant and room was excellent. General service was very good. Would definitely recommend to others.
We’ve had some lovely family meals here, but yesterday it was atrocious. Highlights were scallops as hard as rocks and an expensive “wagyu burger” which was also overcooked and on closer inspection was not a wagyu burger at all, it was a standard frozen burger. I returned the burger to reception and asked to see the manager twice, to no avail. I then left my telephone number & email address, nobody has contacted me. Sad really because a simple apology would have been fine, these things happen sometimes, maybe the regular chef was away. You’ve now lost a regular customer.
Bar staff excellent, room great, especially cookies!
Not able to accommodate early check in which was fair enough however we were attending a wedding and was surprised no provision of an area in the spa area to change. Also reception staff not overly welcoming especially late night when we arrived back from wedding. No smile or conversation from male receptionist or information offered up regarding how to get to our room etc. Other staff all great
Location, the hotel and bar and restaurant
I asked for no added salt on my food in the restaurant but unfortunately the chips came out salted.
Great location and very comfy room
No parking
Location is excellent. Public spaces better than the room but couldn’t complain about it; just needed a refresh (especially the carpet) Food was fabulous both at breakfast and dinner
Service was mixed. Some excellent, others seemed like they couldn’t be bothered. Young girl in bar was asked if we could order food; she had an iPad in her hand but told us to ask someone behind the bar; moments later she was behind the bar!!
Absolutely everything!! What an amazing hotel in the heart of Cirencester! Food, staff, rooms were all 10/10!! Would have stayed longer but we shall return! You are literally in the heart of the shops, restaurants and pubs, very little walking needed unless you like a stroll so there is a park opposite to stretch those legs or walk the dog!
We didn’t have a view and were unable to open a window! We had a dog with us so would have been helpful to be able to ventilate the room! Would recommend asking for a view over the road/town next time!
Large room, good location comfortable bed. Room was quiet No parking but plenty of car parks nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in possible on-line and we weren’t strong armed into having a credit card blocked for incidental expenses that we weren’t going to incur. We liked this hotel and would readily stay there again .
Beautiful hotel, food was excellent. Located right in the middle. Highly recommended.
La ubicación
Nos dieron un cuarto interno. El baño no ventilaba. Incomodo
Had a lovely stay at the Kings Head in Cirencester again. Staff very friendly and professional especially Margarita in the restaurant when we had Sunday lunch which was delicious and the staff at breakfast. The room was roomy and clean. Enjoyed the fresh cookies in the room. Breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay here again.
2nd time we came, location, staff and restaurant bar are very good
We were given a room at the far end this time. The room was a little noisy at times due to some appliance or pump in the wall going on every now and then
Poor service. Arrived at 1830 for booked table for four in main restaurant. Mains arrived at 1925. Maybe three other tables occupied MAX! The restaurant was deserted! I know you will explain and excuse this experience but I have to say, at the end of the day, this was well below average and hence why I scored 2 out of 5. Probably will not bother coming again based on this encounter. As an aside, the fish & chips was very average.
Closing the outside door on the way out
Not sleeping. 1 attempted brake in and 1 successfully brake in. Staff blaming me for someone sneaking into much room at 4am The only photos I have is of the crime number we got from the police.
Love this hotel and the location is second to none. The hotel is huge inside and full of charm and character. The bar, dining and seating area looks really classy
Nothing
Awesome location, spacious comfy room with aircon, staff nice and helpful! Downstairs has a great pub and restaurant and live music.
No complaints!
We wanted a relaxed lunch on Cirencester with visiting friends and decided The Kings Head looked a good option - right on the Market Place and a good choice of food. We couldn't have chosen better! The food was excellent, very competitively priced and the service was friendly and faultless! The hotel has been recently refurbished and offers a range of different places to eat - pub or formal and a lovely terrace for fine days. We will be going back without any hesitation!!
Lovely hotel, really spacious rooms, clean, stylish. Really friendly staff. Great facilities and bar/restaurant
Location and staff
The spa and gym were not available - considering this was my 4th time visiting , I expected to be informed of such because that is one of the reasons I choose to stay there . Our window was screwed down so couldn’t get any fresh air which made it very stuffy.
Staff friendly & accommodating. Location perfect, facilities and room perfect.
A lovely meal, very good table service (Alice) - efficient, personable and attentive
Today was our 10 year anniversary so we decided to celebrate at the Brasserie in the Kings Head hotel and this turned out to be the perfect decision for us. This place has recently been renovated and it they did an excellent job! On top of the beautiful location, we were given what felt like a tailored special experience by all of the staff there although I must say that Zack, gentleman that looked after us was an absolute pleasure and a credit to the level of excellence this place has to offer. He was amazing in every aspect! And to top it all off he brought us two of his own delightful cocktail creations along with a lovely happy anniversary dessert to help make our already perfect evening even better. Thank you Zack you are an absolute gem :-) We will be back to sample more of your cocktails soon!
Lovely room although no view. Great facilities - aircon, fan, iron, kettle and coffee machine. Amazing shower. Comfortable bed.
No car park. No fridge in room.
Room was comfortable and clean with a lovely bathroom and shower. Great breakfast and a good evening menu. Restaurant staff very attentive Very crowded bar in the evening and noisy but couldn't hear the noise in the room. Very centrally located and great for all local amenities.
Lighting system was most strange and I never got to grips with the way the lights worked, no slot to turn lights on with the key card. I think this is most strange lighting system I have seen in a room for awhile. No information in the room. There are a lot of stairs and a very long corridor to some of the rooms, I would have preferred something with fewer stairs. if you aren't keen on stairs then you need to make that clear. There is a lift but not to all floors and areas
The location was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and central to Cirencester itself…a beautiful market village. Food and service at the pub downstairs was excellent, the staff were great. We loved our stay at Kings Head.
Unfortunately the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The bed had a significant dip in the middle and the pillows were as flat as pancakes.
Came in for a drink on an averagely busy Friday evening, and as ever despite a plethora of hard working young bar staff it took a while to get served. This is a recurring occurrence as a local who has visited the bar here regularly over the last 9 months. The renovations have been done tastefully (except the clearly erroneous framed retro style ‘wool’ poster, which was clearly an AI pick rather than from someone who grew up in Cirencester and has seen NZ….). But I hope that this latest incarnation is not let down by absent management, much like the last couple of attempts. The words Brakspear, up, and brewery spring to mind.
Location is fantastic
Receptionist was quite “abrasive” when she asked us why we asked about car parking. The hotel advertise it and my car registration was asked for when checking in on line, so why wouldn’t I ask 🤷♂️
we stayed for 2 nights unfortunately our first room was not at all good smelt damp looked out onto a wall and no hot water at all through the hand basin. I could not get hold of anyone on reception when we discovered the problems as it was around 11.30 pm , the next morning we managed to speak to reception and they promptly moved us to a lovely room which was an upgrade
room 312 not good at all
