Location. Within walking distance of parks and restaurants.

No continental breakfast; strong smell in main office and my room. Staff not readily available. Pool not treated properly. Facility not cleaned to my liking. Sink in bathroom did not drain well.

Location. 30 min. to Lockeport. 20 mins to the best restaurant ever. Good food and reasonable prices.

The bed was comfortable. I didn't have the room cleaned every day. I think the host was doing all work. She was the only person I seen on the property. On tfe third day, I put out the trash and dirty towels. We came home at 7pm, the trash and towels were still there. I had to pick up clean towels. There was no ice machine, so I went to the gas station. When I got back, I was about to store the ice, when I found out the freezer was completely frozen. Stored the ice in the two yeti cups and the rest just melted. ($3.50) I turned off the freezer to let it thaw out. By morning the ice had thawed about 3" only find a half a bag of old ice. I managed to get the 2 ice packs in the freezer. I put a towel to soak up any water and washed the area around the fridge. When I finished I put the rag in the garbage. The floor was filthy. Nothing was cleaned. I was paying for other people's dirt. I think it is under new management 🤔 It will be my last stay.

Our room was not clean at all, there were crumbs everywhere, dirty walls, mold on the chairs, and it was consistently damp smelling like mildew. I avoided touching anything and wore my shoes in the shower. The issue is that this is one of the only places to stay in Shelburne.

We had a nice visit to Shelburne and the museums. The town was perfectly located for a rest spot on our journey. It is a quiet town with very friendly people.

These cottages were a huge disappointment. We are okay with clean and basic accommodations, sometimes it is necessary when traveling, but when we saw the level of dirt and grim in our cottage, we attempted to find other options. The worst part is they made us pay upfront before letting us see the room and wouldn't give a refund because we did not give 72-hours notice. This place deserves a -5 star (minus five star) rating. I can't imagine how it receives any higher. There was food left over on the BBQ from the previous guest, I hope it was the previous guest. The staff/owner gave it a brief scrap and told us it was good to use. The state of the stove and quickly scrapped BBQ did not encourage cooking. We purchased cleaners and rubber gloves from the drugstore to clean the kitchen, the table, high touch areas and the bathroom. We showered with our sandals on. The chesterfield and chairs had layers of dust, hair, etc., that didn't happen from one guest. The carpet was covered in a film of hair and dirt. We used the comforter from the bed to cover the chesterfield, just to have a place to sit comfortably. I cannot recommend this location.

It was very dirty and the furniture was in disrepair.

Grounds unkept, grass not cut, sidewalk and curb not swept-dirt and debris. Hose for cleaning pool thrown on ground outside pool. Tap on bathroom sink broken, no internet or tv 90% if the time, chair in room was coming apart-not safe for a heavy person. Overall cleanliness needs improvement, you can tell when floors are not washed.

Decent location.

The owners do not understand cleanliness. This motel is under renovation. The staff have no idea about cleanliness.

The outdoor pool was wonderful on the very hot days. The paint on the pool deck was chipping+++ but water was refreshing. Convenient location. Appreciated the kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave.

The rooms were so humid, our towels never dried out even after 12 hours. There was a strong smell in the room. No smoking policy but no doubt these rooms had been smoked in for years previously. Grass needed to be cut. Our room was swept/vacuumed once during our week’s stay. We had to make that request.

The room we had was fabulous.

The location was good, with convenience stores within walking distance and the waterfront a shirt drive away. The room was "cute" and well-appointed.

There was an air of neglect of housekeeping, with accumulated dust on almost all hiruzontal surfaces. The ashtray on the porch from the room next door was not emptied when the occupants checked out.

The bed was comfy, there was a heat pump, shower was good (despite the DIY tile job and controls in an awkward place). More economical than most other single traveller options.

This place needs attention. I almost left seeing the state of the property but had pre-booked. So many little needed to be fixed: dings in the wall, baseboards in the bathroom, very loose sink faucet. Hopefully the cabins are better. Does no one care about this place?

Price was good. Bed was comfortable.

Looked tired. Did not have coffee or milk in the morning. And no one was around.

We opted not to stay after seeing the place. The lock on the door was a struggle to unlock and since the door locks automatically, we would have needed to play with the key every time just to sit outside. Outdoor space was lacking. They showed us another room but the room didn't smell clean and was right next to the pool which didn't close. The smell from the AC unit smelt like mold in both rooms.

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable.

The room was comfortable and updated. Looked like fairly new flooring and new bathroom vanity. Air conditioning worked very well. The shower was large and worked well. I didn't use the tv but it's a decent size and the room itself was a nice size. Complete with mini fridge.

There were a lot of dead bugs in the pool. It's outside so its normal for bugs but I'm not sure they skimmed it much. The pool & pool area is a nice size but the paint is peeling on the concrete so it gets stuck to your feet when you go in the pool. Just needs repainting or scrape off the old paint and just go with concrete.

The location was perfect, very easy to find. I was greeted very kindly. My room was exceptional, quiet, clean and very comfortable. The motel is centrally located, making it easy to access the museums and other points of interest as well as local restaurants.

The Mackenzie motel exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with my choice to stay there. I have no complaints.

The website advertises free continental breakfast but they do not offer it at the location. The room was spacious and well laid out.

The bed was very uncomfortable. The room was very dirty... the only clean spaces were the bed, the sink, toilet and shower.

The whole place needs a deep clean.All appliances and surfaces need to be cleaned. All windows and light shades . Lots of spiders. Toilet handle broke off , shower and floors need to be cleaned. Beds had stains, crusty spots and they were not changed. But when we let them know they came and mopped and changed the beds and gave us more towels.

I was disappointed with this property. The advertising photo and description show an attractive cottage with a kitchen. I bought groceries so that I could prepare a meal. Instead, we were registered in a bare bones motel room with no cooking facilities. I found the odour of cleaning agents to be overwhelming. There were ashtrays with stale cigarette butts outside the room door, and individuals smoking on a deck adjacent to the office.

It was fine for one night

Mould in door and back wall and around shower and shower curtain. Stove was filthy, oven was filthy, mouse droppings in cupboard.fridge froze everything, carpet filthy, bar b que and utensils were filthy windows and window sills filthy with dead flies and fly droppings. Window coverings difficult and some didnt work. I have pictures to prove the above. I stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage, do not sure about the rest of the facility.

We stayed for a week and used this as a home base while we toured the south shore. The cottage was showing some wear, towels were worn and dishes were mismatched and only enough for two. This property is in an older area and was consistent with the general area. Staff quickly provided a hair dryer when asked. We often saw deer on the property.

Unfortunately the check in was problematic as we did not have a cottage as expected on our first night and there was disturbance from other guests at our drive up room in all fairness we were put in a separate cottage the remaining 2 nights which made the stay more convenient A deep cleaning of the facility would be highly recommended Shelburne area was beautiful and central to our visit to a lot of the local beaches , towns and tourist attractions

The room was dirty which was brought to the attention of the staff with no comment. We cleaned our room and requested clean linens and towels. There was no continental breakfast as advertised on website. Convenient location.

It was clean, very quiet, staff was friendly.

The only negative I have is, we were there for two nights, when they came to check on the room after the first night, they left more coffee for us to make the next morning but didn't leave clean coffee cups.

Good spot

I stayed in the cab8ns six yesrs ago they were really well kept. The beds and linen where clean and comfortable. The main area and bedrooms were clean.The bathroom and shower had mold and a smell of urine. Sometimes mold will give off a urine smell. The stove was very filthy. I wonder if the cabin was used as a long term rental?? The swimming pool was nice and the kids had fun. It's was alright for one or two night stay.

It was good for one night.

Blood stain on blanket, very dusty bed headboard, spider crawling on bathroom countertop and shower Good air conditioning.

The cabins were well maintained and clean. We loved the deck overlooking the Brook. Close to downtown.

The cottages were very nice and spacious. The desk staff were very helpful. And the pool was better than expected!

The cottage was great for our family, we really enjoyed the space. Location is close to town and gas station.

The suite was cute and laid out nicely, but it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned very well in quite a while. Comforter was extremely stained, and the walls and doors were pretty dirty.

The staff were helpful and kind. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Our only observation was that the shower door didnt slide properly and there was a hole in the wall. Its not fancy but it was quiet and great for a short-term stay.

If you are into rooms that don’t have crumbs on the floor, bedsheets that don’t have stains, blinds that don’t have years of dust caked on them, a couch that isn’t falling apart (and without cigarette burns), towels without holes, a range that doesn’t have food all over it and down the adjacent wall, and more than one of each piece of dish wear and cutlery (for a two-bedroom cabin), don’t stay here.

This motel was ok for a night. Walking distance from a Subway sandwiches, inside a gas station. Had issues with wifi and the tv would only work for live tv, cause it would not identify the wifi....front desk guy was pleasant and willing to help when we needed him.shower head was awesome, never seen one that sprayed you from so many angles..good for back pain.

Comfortable accommodation and reasonable price

A nut tired. More cleaning and updating of facilities needed.. Staff v helpful and ensured we had all we needed.

Windows had mould. 2 facecloths 1 had lipstick on it. Stove and bbq filthy not able to use.Don’t let the photos of cottage 15 fool you.The advertising of the place is most likely to be from the previous owners.Lots of damage to numerous parts of cottage.Broken plug covers no shades on bedroom lights and 1 not working.2 night stay only 1 serving of coffee. Avoid this place at all costs

A bed should actually have bedding, not just a mattress cover and quilt. This was very unnerving as it points to a lack of concern for cleanliness and made for a disappointing stay 😞

The cottage was great spacious and very well laid out

The property and room were not clean. The bed sheets had to be changed because they were gritty. The rugs in the entrance, on the stairs and in our room were filthy and had not been vacuumed in quite some time.

Everything was fine but no ice machine

Nice area, easily walkable to town center. Nice pool. Great deck on our two bedroom cottage with table, chairs, BBQ. Bedrooms were large. Kitchen was a bit cramped and the bathroom is right off the kitchen which was odd. Old couch was not in great shape. Ok place to stay for a night or two.

This property had recently been renovated and it was large and very very clean . Big TV .. Big Fridge .. microwave .. coffee maker and real coffee cups and glasses not plastic . The owner lives on site so very very easy to get anything if you need it . Location was perfect close to town although we didn’t use the pool it is huge ..! Definitely will be returning

The tv was not connected and I ran the tap water for 8 minutes before it started to warm up - as a result I did not have a shower. The man next door was shouting in the middle of the night - not sure if he was awake or asleep.

We couldn't stay in the room we were given, as there was a bad smell in the air. I have no idea what it was. When I told them this we were immediately taken to a much nicer room, but the batteries for the remote for the room's heater/cooler had died so we had to walk back to the office to get more. The faucet in the shower was almost coming off the wall, the outlet next to the bathroom sink wouldn't work for my blow dryer. It felt like the rooms were barely cleaned and rarely checked to make sure everything was working.
