Brilliant stay in a fabulous property. The host was super helpful and helped with transport!

Sehr nettes Personal, haben sogar ein kostenloses Zimmerupgrade bekommen. Hat alles gut gepasst - Pool, Frühstück, Sauberkeit etc.

Eher schlecht zu Fuß zum Fort und zur Altstadt zu laufen, aber mit einem Tuktuk geht das schnell und günstig

Énorme chambre au dernier étage. Petit air conditionné bruyant qui ne rafraîchissait pas vraiment la chambre surchauffée,qui était sous le toit. Grandes baies vitrées qui chauffaient énormément. Salle de bain qui n’avait pas d’air conditionné.Il y faisait 40 degrés.Hotel bruyant.Je n’y reviendrai plus.

Leider kein Abendessen, 240m den Hügel hoch im Lady Hill Hotel war das Essen sehr teuer und 3 von 4 Essen waren nicht lecker.

Great location and staff

Could do with a bit of a spruce up in the rooms

L'emplacement, Pas trop loin du fort. Le personnel au petit soin Le bâtiment est très aéré et très agréable. La wifi au top Chambre très spacieuse avec deux bureaux et deux chaises (ce qui est très rare) La salle d'eau très spacieuse. La clartée de la chambre, une grande fenêtre, et, une porte vitrée donnant sur un petit balcon pour les fumeurs. Vue sur des cours, donc c'était calme. Un matin nous avons même vu des singes J'ai lu dans les avis que certaines personnes signalent que effectivement, il y a certaines choses à revoir, que c'est un peu défraîchi .... que les serviettes ne sont pas forcément neuves...etc ... Étant habituée à voyager en Asie..... honnêtement ça ne me choque pas..... étant donné le prix de la chambre...

Although some areas look tired in some places, indoors everything is super clean. There is an iron in the room. For the continental breakfast we received a freshly made omelette, bread, butter, two different jams and a full plate of 5 types of sliced fruits, as well as papaya juice. Swimming pool.

Chaise lounge and terrace could use some updating.

Location to town and fort was good Room was large with a lovely roof terrace, Manager was very friendly and very helpful also very knowledgeable, Realising it was my partner’s birthday he arranged a beautiful decoration on the bed and a stunning birthday cake for her, we were made to feel very welcome with nothing being too much trouble, overall a very good experience

Although we didn’t use it the swimming pool and surrounding area did seem as if it would benefit from some tlc

It was all very nice, the space, the quick warm shower, location keeping the noise away, room size. Very nice place

The only thing that would make it a 10 would be UK sockets, or more 'standard' sockets around the room. They were all 3-pin round sockets, which aren't really used anywhere now.

Fab place to stay, our room was huge with a small balcony. Bathroom had a great shower with lots of hot water. We arrived early and they had our room ready for us which was great. Location was superb, Only 15mins walk to all the restaurants and quirky shops in and around the Fort. Breakfast was a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast which was lovely. All the staff were super friendly and helpful, we had to leave before breakfast on our departure and they did a small packed lunch for us.

Super accueil du propriétaire et du personnel. Ilhal est toujours disponible et très serviable. Il nous a beaucoup aidé durant notre séjour. Il est venu nous chercher à l'aéroport et nous a bien conseillé pour nos visites et nos déplacements. La chambre est grande , confortable et propre. Le petit déjeuner très bon et avec le choix entre continental ou sri lankais. Tout était parfait .Nous recommandons fortement cet établissement.

Purtroppo, rubinetteria bagno, completamente abbandonata a se stessa, rubinetto lavavo fuori sede, pendolava, supporto sapone girato, cadeva il liquido sopra le cose sottostanti, calcare doccia, pulizia da rivedere.

Lovely and comfortable hotel with delicious fresh breakfast and really lovely staff who gave us lots of recommendations and information. Location is great too (about 15 mins from the fort and up a quiet road). Good place to base yourself to explore Galle! Iflal also helped us organise a car from the airport when we landed very late at night after a long delay and our original driver cancelled on us. So helpful in getting us to Galle to begin our trip.

Villa Upper Dickson was the perfect place to end my trip. The rooms are simple, clean, and had everything I needed — but the real highlight is the staff. They genuinely go above and beyond. As a female solo traveller I felt completely safe and so well looked after. Iflal is truly kind-hearted and runs a great team — he even packed me pancakes to take in the car on the way back to the airport because he knew how much I loved them. I’ll definitely be back!

Super vriendelijke eigenaar. Ze maakte een heerlijk en uitgebreid ontbijt en waren niet te beroerd iets aparts voor ons dochtertje van 1,5 te maken. Verder zijn het ruime kamers met een groot bed

Nos atendieron muy bien. Bienvenida con una toalla fría (se agradece después del calor y las 2 horas de trayecto) y un zumo fresco. Nos dio una habitación muy grande (Orchid) en la última planta (era nuestra luna de miel). Hay que subir escaleras, eso sí. Decoración bonita con flores por ocasión especial. El aire funciona bien (hay solo en la habitación). También ventiladores. Hay una nevera mediana. Tranquilo. Bien situado para visitar Galle y con tuk tuk en un momento en Galle Fort si no quieres caminar. Piscina. Nos dieron toallas.

Hay que levantarse para apagar las luces (no se puede desde la cama). No hay enchufes cerca de la cama. Nada dramático y pasa bastante en Sri Lanka. El chico del desayuno no hablaba apenas inglés pero él que nos atendió sí así que sin problemas. Lleno de hormigas cerca de la zona de desayuno (bueno, es algo que puede pasar pero no es agradable).

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Accomodated every request in good time. Facilities all working perfectly and looked after well. Sri Lankan breakfasts were wonderful, and the overall experience was very relaxed and perfect for switching off. In a great location near the coast with everything you need within a short walk.

Wir waren drei Nächte in der Unterkunft. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilft bei allen Angelegenheiten. Unsere Zimmer war riesig und gut ausgestattet. Lediglich das Badezimmer könnte renoviert werden. In die Stadt konnte man gut zu Fuß laufen. Für das Geld ein super Preis Leistungsverhältnis.

Friendly staff and nice spacious room.

Wifi was weak and would stop working every now and then. We had the only room that's next to the kitchen/eating/swimming pool area, so it can get a bit noisy in the morning if there's people.

We had a fabulous stay here, the staff were really friendly and nothing was too much for them! Our bedroom was clean and comfortable! This hotel’s in a fab area, we’re two girls (18 and 20) on our own and we felt very safe here!

It's a well-located about 10 minutes walk from Galle Fort and less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with good air-con and a fridge. The breakfast is good and the staff are helpful. The pool is also nice. The only downside is that the wi-fi was strong some of the time, but very patchy and slow at other times. Apart from this issue, it's a great place to stay.

We were warmly greeted and given an upgrade to our room, which was a very spacious and well-appointed room. The host couldn't have been more helpful. The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in during our trip around Sri Lanka. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. A real bonus is the pool.

The location was great. Walking distance to the fruit market and shops and a short walk to Galle Forte. It was very quiet and the room was very spacious with a good size bathroom and decent shower. The breakfast was delicious. You could have a continental breakfast or a Sri Lankan one. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great location near fruit and veg Market 10 mins walk to the Fort. In a busy area but up a quiet up hill lane. Very clean spacious room with v good aircon. The pool area would benefit from a coat of paint and some new furniture but that said it was a great place with friendly staff and a nice breakfast.

Good room, air conditioned, with a decent shower room. There was a kettle in the room. You are 400 metres from Galle Town, and 800 metres from Galle fort.

Thee's always a challenge getting places to provide brown, or whole wheat bread for toast in the morning. White bread doesn't work when you have a gluten intolerance.

Great location. Staff super friendly and helpful. Gave us lots of advice about where to go and what to do in Galle. Felt really looked after there.

Vi hadde et flott opphold! Servicen er veldig bra og de hjelper til med alt mulig. Maten var også veldig god. Drar definitivt tilbake om jeg er i Galle igjen.

Hotel situated in a green and nice area in Galle, pretty close to the fort. Deluxe room is big and comfortable and breakfast (included) was rich and tasty. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and it is good quality/price. Iflal, hotel manager, was very kind and helpful. He gave us good tip about restaurants, spa, and visit to the fort. He reserved for us the bus to the airport and came with us to make sure we had the seats he booked for us!

Hotel toilet next to the swimming pool could be improved.

A little bit overpriced

It was just 800 m away from the Galle Fort entrance. And pool was a good option when you travel with kids. Staff was super friendly, and they really knew how to keep the guest happy.

I cannot commend this hotel enough!! Communication before hand, location, staff on arrival, facilities were all first class. The staff were exceptional. The manager, in particular, was superb, with advice and guidance. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. Within 15 minutes walk to Galle Fort and only 200 metres from a really good restaurant. They really looked after us and we’re very flexible around our own particular arrangements.

Problem with hot water

Great location and room. Great traditional breakfast. Staff were amazing, The manager was exceptional, he sorted our bus to the airport. Even took us to the bus terminal and loaded our bags. So helpful.

The guys running the place were very kind, made things special for our honeymoon and were quick to help with any issues during our stay. Huge room on top floor with enormous balcony!

Everything was perfect

We had an early check in which was good and greeted with a fresh coconut water drink and a lovely cold towel to cool us down. Manager and owner did everything they could to make us feel welcome and were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the pool was fantastic. Photos on booking.com were as it was, very good! I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Hotel exceeded expectations. The rooms were clean comfortable and spacious. Staff were amazing. Have never felt more looked after at hotel. Help was given freely to arrange transport tours and washing Breakfast was the best. Local breakfast, menu changed every day and every day was delicious. Highly recommend

Everything was perfect and staff could not do enough for us - we felt like family we were so looked after. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and changed each of the three days we had and was delicious and plentiful served with real coffee which was appreciated. Pool was great after a day out exploring with nice fluffy towels available. Owner provided us with exactly what we felt like - some dhal and rice - which wasn’t even on the menu. Also arranged for our laundry to be processed promptly. We were sent on our journey with some lentil vade because we had commented how much we had enjoyed them at breakfast. Rooms were spacious and aircon worked well. Shower pressure fantastic. Loved it and wished we could have stayed longer - was exceptional!

Very friendly staff and helpful manager. Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing. Room (deluxe) very large and provided extra bed for kids. Short 10 min walk to galle fort. Room very clean and great housekeeping. Pool towels provided. Some minor maintenance issues could do with addressing around pool (tile grouting).

The Staff were exceptionally helpful & friendly. Because it was the off season there were few guests and we felt as tho’ we had our own private swimming pool. The breakfast was excellent!

This property was beautiful and was so surprised walking in how close it is to Galle city but also only a 15 minute walk from the fort. The host was amazing and extremely friendly and both the Sri Lankan and the continental breakfast were amazing.

Villa Upper Dickson was the perfect place to stay in Galle. It was outside the fort, so away from the tourist traps and closer to the local town. I regularly walked to and from the hotel alone and in the dark and felt completely safe. The room was comfortable and huge with excellent Aircon. The staff were accommodating and went above and beyond to help me.

The bathroom wasn't very clean but as soon as I alerted the staff, they rectified the problem.

Location is good. Staff were very friendly. Swimming pool is a welcome treat.

1) The villa is a little outdated and could need a refurb but all things considered its a pleasant stay. 2) We felt a little duped in our personal isolated experience; when we arrived a staff member asked us what time we wanted breakfast, we said we would get back to them. We were asked again later that day and we gave them a time. Cut a long story short when we were checking out they had charged us for breakfast, and said our room did not include a free breakfast. The quality of the breakfast should of been deemed free. Its a simple omelette (just eggs) and some cut fruit (which they charged 2,000R's pp). We have nothing wrong with paying for breakfast, we felt duped because they should of asked / made sure the customers were aware that breakfast was not included in our package. We have spent 5 weeks in Sri Lanka and travelled to many hotels and we have never had this issue before. The gentleman agreed to take half the cost of the breakfasts off. So I would say just make sure you're aware if your room has it included for free or not (standard room = no. Duplux = free breakfast). Was just some confusion.

We stayed in Upper Dickson for 2 nights. We stayed in the Rose room which was near the dining area. The room was spacious without any view. We enjoyed the Sri Lankan breakfasts offered by the property. They also arranged a tuk tuk to visit all the nearby beaches and tourist spots. Overall a satisfying stay.
