Interesting old lodge in nice location.
This is our 4th time staying at the Latch. It has obviously changed hands and is not nearly as well kept as originally. It was a disappointing stay.
Peaceful , charming , not like typical chain hotel , lovely staff, wonderful breakfast
Nothing
The location of the lodge was excellent and the room was comfy and clean even though it smells very very old and stale. Very quiet location.
The exterior energy of the property is dead. There were no chairs set up on the nice wrap around patio. The lower patio by the dinning room had no service even during happy hour. Not a sole around. There was a dead squirrel that had been decaying there for quite some time. The interior of the lodge is a shown in photos and very stately but the smell isn't good.

The outside of the building is appealing. There are few guests and no children. it is very quiet.
It is very tired. The TV did not work. Maintenance is requried. This place is in need of an upgrade.
breakfast was top ! had a lot of choices, and the lady came with the coffee several times, English style historical property, I like that very much, unfortunately could not stay longer. nearby the ship harbor and for the evening 5 minutes walk to a very good restaurant. thanks to the friendly staff, who brought the drinks outside !
Lovely vintage place with character. Away from town but nice boat area near the water. Period decor. Clean.
comfy place.
Feel little difficult to reach
Great location if you are catching a morning ferry. Lovely surroundings and a comfortable bed. Old fashioned and 'quirky'.
Das historische Ambiente war wirklich spürbar. Das Personal war freundlich und bemüht . Das Ftühstück war sehr schmackhaft. Das Auto parkte nah und kostenlos.
Die Entfernung zur Innenstadt war etwas störend. Der Außenbereuch könnte mehr Pflege gebrauchen.
We had to leave before breakfast time but we were given a packed breakfast to take with us. The room was a good size and the shower was great!
This is a small Inn which I liked as I booked 5 rooms of the 6 available and used the lovely living room for our meetings. Location was quiet. The patio was nice and the breakfast room beautifully decorated. Breakfasts were custom made on order so that was lovely. There was a one hour Happy Hour for drinks only-no appetizers. The marina restaurant is very walkable. Parking for the Inn is convenient.
No restaurant and very firm 2 hour only check in time which does not match the ferry arrival times.
Breakfast was served in the little restaurant area or you could also order to go if you were in a hurry to catch a ferry.
Everything was excellent, and the staff were exceptional
The Latch Inn sits in a beautiful spot with genuine charm and character. It has tremendous potential if only the owners would pay some attention.
The rooms and bathrooms need real attention — the shower door and rail were falling apart, the carpets were dirty, and the bug screens hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Towels weren't replaced during our stay, walls between rooms were paper-thin, and breakfast service became slow and disorganized whenever the room filled up. Overall the property felt tired, under-managed, and lacking the hands-on ownership presence you'd expect at a property with this much potential.
A nice quaint heritage style inn. In a quiet location outside of town
Good breakfast, good sized room, comfortable bed
The place is old and in disrepair. The TV didn’t work, there was a sign on the bathtub that the drain didn’t work. The toilet was a very slow flush. The carpets were dirty and the ceiling tiles were damaged and repaired with coloured tape.
Cosy , close to the airport and nice staff and breakfast
A bit old
Great location
Wet carpet, flat worn out pillows.
It felt like going back in time. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and made for you. The dining area and lounge area were very nice.
The room we stayed in had stains in the carpet and the bed sheets are a couple small stains. The room needs some updating
Nice location, good breakfast quiet stay
Rooms could use better cleaning, carpets looked dirty and soiled, room had musty door
Very interesting experience
My husband and I stayed for one night and the rooms were spacious and charming. The house was historical but very comfortable, and the full, included breakfast was fantastic! We also had free parking right around the corner from the property. Staff was super friendly and accommodating
The inn is about a 35 minute walk from downtown Sydney but that was the only downside we ran into. And Uber was $11 and minutes so not a big deal at all
Héritage property with lovely old charm
Some challenges with plumbing. Staff not readily available for assistance
Historic, quaint building right by the ocean. Breakfast was very good.
In need of a refresh, very old carpet and bathroom. Outdoor patio area was tired looking, no flower pots, it needed cleaning and landscaping.
What a find! Very unique property with lots of spaces to relax, some water views, nice gardens and a great breakfast. My new plan for every early morning flight out of Victoria !
Ambiance. Décor. Quiet. Except for person snot ext door
Very nice bed and breakfast spot in a heritage home. Very quiet spot. Great service and lovely breakfast.
Nothing really - the walls were a bit thin and could have used some more air in the room but nothing too bad.
The staff were so kind and helpful. It was exactly as pictured and the breakfast was great. We had a nice view of the marina and enjoyed watching the harbour.
If you didn’t have a car, it would be hard to get to.
Good size room Nice view of marina
Poor shower Bed very high Closed part of day, limited service
Top Lage, angenehmer Service, sehrvgutes Frühstück
Exceptional eggs florentine/ waffles soso. Too sweet.
Waffles.
This quaint heritage inn is situated amongst mature Douglas fir, and across the road overlooking a marina and cove; and ten minutes from Sidney’s centre. The interior decor appropriately compliments the wood finishing and tutor architectural features. The Lady Byng room was comfortable and the bed was superb. Approximately 20 minutes from the airport, and even closer to the ferry, I only wish I was staying longer.
Being lactose and gluten intolerant, the breakfast offered gluten free toast, but no other choices.
Everything was excellent!!
The whole Inn, along with the room and overall vibe itself is very cool and historic, but in a very elegant way. The rooms are very quiet. The Manager Jass was so polite, professional and lovely. The breakfast was very delicious. We would definitely stay at the Latch again.
The location is very peaceful and quiet. Bed was super comfortable, Victorian. and huge. The breakfast was very nicely prepared and served.
The bathroom in the McClure unit is run down and needs some renovation on the bathtb and general decor. The Victorian bathtub is leaking water using the shower. The faucet is loose and not cleanly flowing,l. The garden landscaping needs a bit of work to restore it to the beauty of its existing glamour, and in line with other houses and condo around the neighborhood. The carpet is dated in the room and needs a refresh. The inn's history and setting provides excellent potential with some touchups.
Beautiful location, easy check in and close to the airport and ferry.
Staff were very helpful. Good communications. The room was spacious. The lounge area comfortable and cozy.
The breakfast menu was excellent for a B&B, many choices and fresh fruit. The 'Old Fashion' theme of the building was felt and seen though out the inn.
Charming building at the end of the road. Comfortable bed and quiet overnight.
Remember that the walls are very thin in an old building. The carpeting in our room needed a shampoo cleaning. Unfortunately our room abutted the marina where they started power washing boats at 7am and continued all day. The grounds and building itself is in need of repairs and some TLC.
Charming historical building, spacious room with comfortable bed and good breakfast The breakfast room and common areas are lovely. We made arrangements to check wein late and it was no problem.
The carpet in our room was extremely dirty, window latch was broken so it was impossible to open the windows properly, shampoo seemed to be watered down, towel bar was broken, bath towel was stained, and generally it seemed like updates are needed.
Beautiful heritage building in a scenic location. Sea views. Spacious room. Short drive to Sidney shops, seaside and airport.
4pm check in. Bathroom fittings need some maintenance.
Bed was super comfortable. Large cozy room. Quiet night sleep. Breakfast was yummy. Staff was kind. Lovely stay.
Very nice quaint inn. Great breakfast. Staff was very accommodating.
The room was suppose to a have sea view but not much of a view with a boat blocking the view 🤷🏻♀️
Room is big and comfortable. Nice bay view. Quiet with no traffic noise.
No dairy room cleaning and toilet is old.
Breakfast was great! The staff were very nice and so sweet.
It was clean, cozy, and in a quiet location minutes from Sydney. We totally enjoyed our stay.
I loved the location, the breakfasts, and the people that worked at the Latch Inn.
The bed was too hard for me.
Great staff, amazing food and the ambiance was uniquely historical in origin. Beautiful property and views.
Nothing, we loved it all.
The customer service, and the breakfast was excellent.
Cozy and beautiful location. Clean and amazingly quiet. Wonderful breakfasts
Very quiet and nice location near Marina and restaurant
It is need of some maintenance
A beautiful old inn oozing charm and character with a lovely outdoor patio overlooking the the marina. Beautiful breakfast in the cozy breakfast room
Don’t change a thing but a bit of maintenance and refreshing would be beneficial, the carpet in our room needs replacing and the toilet kept running
Quiet location Served breakfast was good Rooms were spacious
Limited check in time and staff presence. They offer a packed breakfast but it is inedible. The furnishings and decor are tired Bathroom is dated Shampoo was diluted with water It felt like the management was new and they didn’t know yet how to run the place.
Great room, great breakfast, and very friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.
Its location and its charm.
N/A
The breakfast was excellent, and the muffin served with a latch key outlined in icing sugar was a nice touch. Attentive staff. My room - the library - was huge, with various sitting spots, a view of trees and flowers, and a massive comfy bed. Sitting out on the porch area in the evening, watching the ocean was lovely. A morning walk through the neighbour marina was lovely as well.
Nice interior.
Lovely traditional comforting stay with wonderful location for walking along the sea.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was great and they were very accommodating of our late arrival
It was confusing to understand which building we should go to, especially at night
Quiet location Heritage building Lovely view
Take away breakfast not the best …especially compared to the delicious breakfast you get if you are able to stay long enough in the morning to have it.
Sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommens Personal, jederzeit wieder.
Gibt nichts was uns nicht gefallen hat.
L endroit est un peu hors du temps , avec un style ancien et authentique. Le personnel était très gentil. Très bon petit dej .
I loved the historic charm and character of the building. The hot breakfast was good and the location very scenic and quiet.
Only minor things that are more about it being so historic. Really all part of the charm.
The staff were incredibly friendly, polite and truly engaged with patrons to ensure their stay was comfortable.
Beautiful old building in a quiet location. Staff was accommodating.
Fascinating site and area history and most of the original structure and location apparent. Location worked extremely well and good walking around the immediate coastal area. Breakfast was excellent.
Couple of minor technical hitches that were attended to promptly and courteously.
It was unique. The location was quiet despite it being next to a boat maintenance shop. The breakfast cooked to order from 7 selections were done perfectly each day.
We both developed some back issues from sleeping on a bed that is too soft. When we first moved into the room we noticed dust on the headboard of the bed and hairs stuck to the tiles of the shower. I reported this to the staff and requested this be fixed. They cleaned everything up immediately but it should not have happened. Someone did not do their job properly.
The location is lovely, the staff accommodating and the breakfast was good.
Beautiful historical property!
Location was great - also liked the Victorian feel and decor
Got a “to go breakfast “ bag as we had an early flight. It consisted of a small, dry muffin, a small granola bar and a fruit cup. Very disappointing. Also there was no option for early check-in .
Beautiful heritage building on a quiet street overlooking the marina. The staff were very friendly. The formal breakfast area had real table service and the breakfast selections were delicious. Our room had a very comfortable bed and 2 comfortable chairs, and there’s a nice sitting room just outside with complementary coffee and cookies.
Beautiful decor in a charming character home Attention to detail
Nothing bad to say.
Its a beautiful old country in. Great for walking the town. Good bed
We had booked this room specifically for the bath tub. There was no plug. No bath!! Very upsetting. We checked in late there was no one to help. The room (Library) was very dated and in bad repair ( overhead lamp was damaged) it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to shut off the lights. They all had strange configurations. We had what was possibly the worst breakfast ever. The omelet was over cooked. The toast was like cardboard. Skimpy portions. Poor quality ingredients. The eggs benedict were not good. They used cheap ham and it was on some strange bun. Such poor value for the money. Over $300 for 1 night, that was after my genius discount. Don’t stay here.
its old and historic with charming sitting rooms and breakfast room
it is not in town - not on a bus route - if you dont have a car - transport is taxi - its costly if u add it up taxi to airport also costs more from here.
The breakfast was very good as well as the service .
The Inn obviously needs a massive cleaning on the inside and very obvious repairs needs to be done to windows ect. . The outside does not look anything like the pictures online . The back side of the deck where all the table and chairs are, looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in at least 2 years . The moss build up tells me thats it’s not just from one year . The exterior all around definitely needs attention . This place may have been great at one time , but from what I see now it has doesn’t reflect the photos they have listed
Bon petit déjeuner
The person that checked us in very kind and helped us with getting ice for the room.
The infrastructure in the room were below standard. Old room that desperately needed updating. Tub could not be used because of old pumping according to the sign on the tub. Shower was dark and dingy smelling. The window screens on the windows were ill fitting and falling off. Could not take advantage of the breakfast as it started at 08:00 and we needed to leave to catch our flight by 07:30. We were given a muffin and juice box and granola bar.
It’s a lovely hotel - looks the part with four poster bed etc, service was good with friendly staff.
You could hear everything in adjoining rooms, plus the washing powder they used was likely biological which caused my wife’s sensitive skin to flare up. Breakfast on the go was poor - fruit salad that was out of date.
Lovely decor Comfortable King bed Great morning Breakfast Beautiful location Friendly helpful staff.
As an older building, noise from other guests carried through the rooms. We were on the ground floor, The Library Suite, so right next to the dining room, and we could hear guests upstairs talking, walking and their TV late into the night. This wouldn't stop me from staying again. However, I would request an upstairs room next tome.Something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper.
The building was the home of the Governor General, many years ago. It has retained all of its charm. The staff are kind and so helpful. The breakfast was delicious! In the evening I had a light meal in my room, delicious thin crust pizza, loaded with spinach and topped with cheese. Perfect with a glass of wine.
Beautiful room Comfortable bed Excellent breakfast Staff were friendly
The Latch Inn has a warm welcoming vibe. My (Library Suite) room was comfortable, clean and the oak panels on the walls gave the room a cozy feel.
My room ( Library Suite) had a washroom that I have not seen since I visited my grandmother's house when I was ten years old. I had great concerns about the plumbing due to how dated the washroom was. I strongly recommend that The Latch Inn update the washroom in the Library Suite to at least the 21st Century.
The Latch Inn is an old quaint historic building. The Inn itself is quiet and the location was quiet for the most part. The breakfast was delicious and the service was wonderful. Jas and Deeb provided great service. Very respectful and attentive staff.
Would like to stay when it's not raining, as there is a nice open patio that would be enjoyable to sit and have a coffee/tea (or happy hour) on.
Location was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The old house had a great atmosphere and history and was worth staying just to experience it.
I have a mobility issue and had to navigate stairs with luggage. The young man that greeted us helped us with luggage however. Parking area was away from the hotel on a paving stone path. Heating was an electric fireplace. Bathroom didn't have any face cloths;
Same comfortable and convenient location with accommodating staff as our last visit. Will definitely return.
Quaint cottage inn with early 1900s charm. Comfortable beds. Tasty breakfast.
