The food; breakfast, lunch and dinner all magnificent- highly recommend. Good wine and beer selection too. Super clean, very comfortable and quiet bedrooms.
Nothing - amazing venue.
Easy to access. In a great village. Room is cosy and perfect stay!
Bed on the smaller side
Lovely big room, excellent breakfast and we enjoyed a meal in the pub.
We had to pay for parking in the village (£9 for 24 hours) as we hadn’t booked direct with the hotel.
Such a perfect location for a night away and a walk
The property was amazing from top to bottom. Start to finish.
Location, helpful staff, good food, comfortable room.
Parking facilities for guests with minor mobility issues and carrying cases.
The room was very nice and the food was excellent
Broken blind in the room, which management knew about before we arrived. We where unable to close properly so the light came through and affected are sleep a little.
Great place for an overnight in Hawkshead. Comfortable room and bed, good shower. Excellent breakfast, lots of choice. Recommend booking a table in good time for an evening meal; we left it too late and it was fully booked for our preferred times, but we found a good alternative. We would be happy to stay again.
Fantastic stay at the Queen's Head in one of the Brown Cow opposite the main building. A fantastic ground floor room opening into the garden with seats and table to sit outside Brown
Room was very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. A relaxing stay overall and a tasty cooked breakfast.
The room was a bit warm but it was a heatwave and a fan was provided.
Everything was excellent, staff, rooms, location and especially the delicious Breakfast.
amazing breakfast
Staff were amazing, welcoming and friendly. We also ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and it was delicious! Just what we wanted/needed to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you so much.
Nice area nice evening meal exelant breakfast.
It was a comfortable stay in the heart of Hawkshead and the food/breakfast was amazing!
The time of the year / weather meant the room was quite hot but it didn’t spoil our stay.
Well presented, quaint and clean
Would have preferred to be able to open more windows (room 2) or maybe have a reed diffuser to keep the air fresh
Breakfast was very poor cheap ingredients
We enjoyed a wonderful stay. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and we can't recommend this Inn enough. We hope to return soon.
Nice pub in the heart of the village. Lovely decor, comfortable bed and good facilities. Tower fan in the room so that was nice in the heat.
Breakfast could do with improvement. No fresh fruit except and apple or orange. I ordered bacon sandwich which was served in bread rather than toast so I politely asked for it to be changed. Chipped glass at breakfast.
The property was perfect couldn’t fault it. It’s lovely inside I just think we were given the worst room
Our room had a wet room the smell was unbearable, after my shower it didn’t go away. It smelt of urine and was extremely damp. Going off the booking.com pictures it was very misleading. Apart from the room out stay was perfect
It was perfectly situated in the most perfect little village, the staff couldn't help enough all happy and very friendly.
Booking.com advertised the room as something it wasnt but the hotel quickly rectified the situation no questions asked
Good location in the village . Good breakfast and spacious room which seemed to have been decorated recently!
Checkout is 10-30, a little early after a wedding we attended the previous day!
Staff went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special. The location was incredible in such a cute little village with very comfortable room and excellent food.
Our room was fabulous with a great view over the hillside.
I’m being very picky here but both pillows were very plump and quite hard which wasn’t very comfortable for my neck. Maybe put one thin pillow and one plump so that there’s a choice ? 😊
After our original booking having a power cut we was able to book here last thing. Lovely room and food was great
Nothing to dislike, just thought we was going to stay in town not village but great little find
Great location in a lovely village. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the dinner and breakfast.
Our room was not quite as advertised - no bath and had carpet instead of hardwood floors. Also was boiling in the room, which wasn’t anyone’s fault as there was a heatwave, but a better fan would have made things a bit more comfortable. Also mini fridge in the room would be nice.
Parking around the corner, food great, staff great
The sink in the toilet was too small
Excellent
The room we stayed in was amazing. Every detail had been thoughtfully addressed. The bathrooms were modern, and the furnishings suited the period of the property in the suite. We dined in the restaurant for the evening meal, which was lovely at the end of a long day sightseeing.
Nothing
Lovely staff great food
Disabled room just needed a little bit more thought.
Location
Evening meal very disappointed such a great
Central, comfortable and friendly.
There was a slight cleaning issue but we were immediately compensated when we raised it.
1. Comfortable room 2. Excellent breakfast 3. Friendly staff. 4. Great mix of 17th and 21st century. Stayed in Room 10 in the Brown Cow annexe which was large room with big comfortable bed. Also has its own private garden area which was a nice touch ( much more expensive than standard room though).
Stayed here few times before and loved the hotel but this time had issues. 1. Couldn’t open room safe, manager indicated it was a problem with all the hotels room safes ( was awaiting override keys). 2. Room lacked a proper wardrobe just an open rack. 3. The day after arrival our room wasn’t cleaned. Hotel seemed stressed ( was very busy due to nearby Bluebird K7 Festival in Coniston).
Spacious room in great building. Staff fabulous. Nothing too much bother. Food wonderful in bar/ restaurant. Village was really good to stay in with quirky buildings
All good
Beautiful place , excellent food
Everything
Location and food was good.
Fire alarm woke us up at 1:20 am and no one mentioned it. Housekeeper seemed overwhelmed
The two guy, srunning the Queens are so lovely and nothing to much trouble. Definitely recommend.
Lovely staff, comfortable room, great food.

The food
Lovely modern room, great facilities, lovely breakfast and evening meals and great staff. Would definitely stay again.
Lovely pub setting good rooms nice food helpful staff
Nothing
Beautifully presented- excellent staff
Food average - extremely overpriced
Absolutely everything, the pub, the room the staff, the food, especially the Sunday lunch, the nut roast was the best I've ever had. This was our second visit and we will be back.
The people running the Queens Head were fantastic. The food was delicious and breakfast in particular was good value and very good quality.
The parking arrangements are what they are. Hawkshead is a challenging place to drive through/park. However, The Queens Head team have this covered and our parking charge for the public car park was met in full. Just be prepared to carry your bags a little further than perhaps you are used to. (Although I am sure the team will help - they were just great.
Beautiful rooms, superb location, lovely food, attentive staff, great value for money.
Friendly , helpful staff . Great breakfast. Lovely room , comfortable & quiet at night . I left something in the room & they couldn’t have been more helpful- thank you . Excellent location in the centre of Hawkshead - there are good walks from village
No car park but the village pay & display is a v short distance away , & we were able drive closer & drop bags off before we parked
The attentiveness of all the staff was great. A fantastic example of hospitality.
Quirky, warm, homely clean. Perfect given the location.
Lovely old building, comfortable characterful room. Very good breakfast.
No evening meal available due to staff sickness, not anyone’s fault.
ROOMS WERE GREAT AND BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT
Everything we have visited 4 times so that tells you something
Nothing it was excellent very short staffed but Toby made sure we were well looked after doing 3 people's jobs bless him exceptional member of staff
Staff were great. Fantastic location.
No shelf in the bathroom adjacent to the sink for toiletry bags etc. Struggled slightly with storage for our cases due to room size.
Good, spacious room.
Everything was great. A lovely stay.
Nothing
Comfy bed and great food for choice and value. Top staff
Nothing
Clean comfortable rooms. Great shower. Lovely food and very friendly staff. Would absolutely recommend. We also went on the local ghost walk … the guide was brilliant! Great fun!
A lovely little pub nestled in the middle of Hawkshead. Perfect rooms, clean and cosy/country feel to all the rooms and the pub itself. Breakfast included was perfect and plenty to choose from the menu.
Very warm and inviting
Bedroom short on hanger space and no drawers? A bathroom mirror that lite would be good
Immediately welcomed in and taken to our room. We were able to book a table for dinner which was delicious as was the morning breakfast. Tastefully decorated throughout and clean.
Beautiful country pub
Location and friendly staff ,coupled with comfort

Location. Accommodation..Area..Food..Pub...
Lovely staff, very comfortable room with nice decor and cleaned to a high standard. Food was great and location excellent.
Our bedroom was the one in the photos with the massive windows and great view. It was stunning. The location was great too.
When we arrived it wasn’t a great customer experience. We were 15 minutes early and went to see if our room was ready. We were told without any friendliness or check that our room wasn’t ready. The person who greeted us said they hadn’t seen the housekeeper since 10 that morning and she’d got no idea. Then this person proceeded to walk off. Bear in mind we’re stood at the bar. We weren’t even given an opportunity to reply and we weren’t asked if we wanted a drink or to sit down and wait etc. Eventually she did come back and offered us a drink and we waited. When our room was ready we were taken to it and on the way I made conversation that she looked very busy. She replied to say ‘yes everyone else left on Wednesday.’ It sounded like a walk out which made us worry for our stay. Breakfast was good value especially as we’d only paid £110 for our lovely room. The worst bit of the stay was checking out. I’d paid up front by choice via booking.com I told the same woman this and she said I hadn’t paid and I’d just input my card details. I showed her my receipt and my app. She said well they’ve not sent it to me. Obviously that’s not my fault. She didn’t say that’s fine, don’t worry etc I was made to feel like I wasn’t telling the truth. She said did you tell them to send it to us via a virtual card? I said I’ve no idea what that means I’ve just clicked pay now.
Lovely comfortable and clean great food and service
Bedrooms quite noisy could hear conversation in room next door
The room was fabulous and the staff during check in/out and breakfast were lovely and polite. The room in the building opposite was decorated tastefully and to a high standard. The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean and crisp. The shower was hot and powerful.
A member of your kitchen staff was drinking in the bar opposite the pub and slagging off the kitchen/food which put us off eating dinner there on the Saturday night.

Everything
The hotel is really cozy, clean and relaxing. We loved the bar, the food and the ambience created by the open fire.
Nothing, it was great.
Food was excellent as were the staff who were very accommodating with a few hiccups we experienced. Very cosy pub with nice decor.
Rooms are a little on the small size but this is a very old renovated pub.
Very cosy atmosphere, large and spacious rooms which are decorated beautifully, all the amenities you need in the room. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Wonderful on offer and a great range of drinks.
Room got very hot at night so had to open the window therefore got woken by very noisy birds first thing.
All of it

Generally Food was ok but very inconsistent. Onion rings first night where fresh ones and very tasty, but 2nd night they brought out frozen ones from a packet. Breakfast was similar first morning 2 bacon 1 tomato, 2nd morning, 1 bacon 2 tomatoes, Staff kept getting orders wrong and tried to charge me for lunch on Saturday when we where walking the hills and did not eat there on Saturday afternoon. Was able to prove with phone that i wasnt there for lunch. The manager looks like she needs some time out as not very polite or helpful.
Staff were lovely and welcoming, very quaint and gorgeous country pub, room was decorated very tastefully and cosy and came with a large tv and mini fridge. Bathroom was lovely also and the handwash smelt gorgeous!
The only thing I can think of was that the eggs were always a bit overdone at breakfast and never runny as advertised and perhaps the coffee wasn't the nicest as it was a drip type coffee but that is honestly just to be nit-picky. We had a very lovely stay otherwise.
Cosy, friendly staff and the food was great
Nothing
The pub was inviting and the staff were excellent it was a lovely one night stay and I will highly recommend.
Nothing to dislike
Loved everything, overnight stay with breakfast and lunch
All great
