The House Hostel

Wat een onwijs vriendelijke host die ons lekker wegwijs heeft gemaakt in de buurt. Dankzij zijn uitleg hebben we leuke dingen gezien en optimaal kunnen genieten van Seoraksan National Park. Het is een stadje waar niet bijzonder veel te doen is, maar het is dikke prima als uitvalsbasis voor het natuurgebied. Ook dankzij een tip van de host kunnen genieten van korean bbq, waar alleen vis geserveerd werd. Echt pluspunten! De kamer was basic, maar wel gewoon prima.

Voor ons Nederlanders zijn de bedden wat klein, maar wat verwacht je anders in Azië?

The bed I slept in was exceptionally comfortable, especially for a hostel. I’ve had quite a few different experiences in the past, and this one definitely stood out. The owner was really helpful and, most importantly, spoke quite good English, not just “a little bit.” The welcome was warm, and overall, it was a really pleasant hostel experience.

The view from my room was not particularly appealing, and there was a somewhat unpleasant odor that I couldn’t quite identify. Maybe humidity from the ocean ...

The host was so kind and helpful and gave us so much information on what to do in Seoraksan. The hostel itself was so cute and very well decorated. You could tell so much care went into it.

yoo es simpatiquísimo y lo pone todo muy fácil, la zona común es hiperagradable y está decorado con mucho gusto, y es cierto q está al lado de todo: estación de bus para ir a seúl y la otra, para ir al parque. ideal :)

Tout! Mr.Yoo est très gentil et plein de bons conseils. L'emplacement est idéal avec un arrêt de bus en bas de la maison et la gare de train intercity à 5 min. Et la décoration est superbe!

Ich kann mich den vielen guten Bewertungen nur anschließen: Das Hostel ist wirklich ein absoluter Geheimtipp! Lage super zentral, Ausstattung gut, günstige Waschmöglichkeit, super liebevoll eingerichtet, abschließbare Gepäckaufbewahrung. Das beste war aber Yoo, der dieses Hostel mit so viel Liebe betreibt, uns mit tollen Empfehlungen ausgestattet hat und einfach unfassbar herzlich ist!

Great location, very kind owner and super clean and cozy building! Perfect for visiting Seoksaran (busstop is just down the street) and exploring Sokcho (lake, harbour, market and expo are all in walking distance)

Tolles Guesthouse, gemütlich, super nett. Klinisch sauber. An diesem Guesthouse stimmt einfach alles - es ist besser, als auf den Fotos!

Mein Aufenthalt hier war fantastisch. Der Besitzer ist absolut freundlich. Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön und liebevoll eingerichtet. Alles ist perfekt sauber. Ich empfehle es absolut. Super gerne wieder!!!!!

Cet établissement est exceptionnel! Il est situé à 50m de l’arrêt de bus pour le parc de Seoraksan, le propriétaire est gentil, accueillant, et donne plein d’informations concernant le parc, les activités à faire à Sokcho et les restaurants. Je recommande chaudement !

Great host, position and room

Yoo, the host, was extremely friendly and helpful. The hostel is in a great location, you can easily explore the whole town from there. Bus stop is 1 minute walk. The room is spacious and has everything you need.

Sehr süßes Hotel mit einer sehr gemütlichen und warmen Atmosphäre, auch sehr ruhig. Perfekt gelegen direkt neben dem regionalen Busbahnhof. Der Gastgeber ist sehr nett und gibt viele Ratschläge und Empfehlungen, um Ihnen den Aufenthalt zu erleichtern.

L'acceuil par M. Yoo dès le départ avec de tres bonnes recommandations d'activités et de restaurants. M. Yoo est vraiment un excellent hôte. L'hostel est également très bien situé dans Sokcho. Je recommande à 100%.

Friendly staff, close to the bus station and to restaurants. Building is old an rooms are dated but bed was comfortable.

The common area had lots of mosquitoes in the evening but that's not their fault

Best place I ever stayed in, in Korea. The Hostel is very well decorated, room looks like on photos, spacious bathroom. The host, Yoo, offered me map and 20 minute crash course for what is interesting in Sokcho. He offers the same to every guest. I came in late in the night, way after check-in time and Yoo still with no problem let me self check-in. Hostel is decorated like no other I have seen here and common space has many seats and tables to use. It is conveniently close to bus stop that goes to Seoraksan too and convinience store too. 5/5, 10/10, 100/100 reccommended. Thank you!

The room seemed to be very old and you could smell that a little. Its not positive nor really negative, just an observation.

This was such a wonderful place to stay! As other reviews mention, Yoo is awesome and so kind and provided a detailed explanation of the area and his recommendations at check-in. There's a convenience store and a bus stop right outside that takes you to the national park and to the beach. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and you can walk to the fish market, the pavillion, and smaller beaches too. The hostel was beautiful with really cute decorations everywhere. There's a very cute indoor-outdoor common area, a place to dry laundry, and water dispensers on every floor. My single room was spacious and comfortable! I would highly recommend it!

The only problem I had was that the WiFi didn't work in my room (on the 3rd floor).

The host was extremely friendly, you could tell he loves his job and does it out of passion. We stayed 3 nights and started joking when we saw new person checking in and getting their very thorough run through of where to eat and where to hike. He was honestly happy to meet everyone who checked in. The Intercity bus terminal is also close by

More of a problem with sokcho itself, because the city is quite long, the hostel can obviously not be close to everything, so the city center is not as close, still no problem though

Les lieux communs sont sympathiques avec une bonne ambiance pour discuter le soir. Le logement est bien situé a la limite de la rue commerçante.

L'aspect des chambres fait assez vieillot et il n'y a aucuns rangement possible dans la chambre pour nos affaires. Les chambres sont exiguë et au final le prix est trop élevé pour les prestations proposées.

Great location that was close to public transport, markets and attractions but was tucked away in a quiet street. Yoo was an amazing host who was very generous with his time and local knowledge. He had the best recommendations for cafes / restaurants and for the best way to tackle the national park.

Il proprietario, Yoo, è davvero molto accogliente e disponibile nell'illustrarti tutte le possibili visite ed esperienza da poter fare un zona, comprese tips sui mezzi pubblici e ristoranti locali interessanti. La struttura è pulitissima e comprensiva di tutti i servizi necessari (sala comune, lavanderia...). Super consigliato!

Excellent greeting by the host, who gave us lots of recommendations! Great location and well-decorated. Extremely clean bathroom.

Beds are a little firmer than I'm used to but i understand this might be normal in South Korea.

Il punto di forza é l’host di questa struttura, veramente simpatico e disponibile: si vede che tiene molto agli ospiti e che la struttura sia sempre in ordine. Nell’area comune hai a disposizione tè e caffè. Si trova a 5 minuti a piedi dalla stazione dei intercity bus e dalla fermata del bus che porta al monte seoraksan, in una decina di minuti a piedi si arriva al mercato.

The owner was incredibly attentive, and very kind, offering help and suggestions on what to do and where to go and how to get there and how long it would take. Really lovely atmosphere and incredible location! He even carried my bag up stairs when I arrived!

Nearest Hostel is an excellent hostel. It is very clean, the breakfast is good, and the owner is a wonderful person. He gives you a very warm welcome, is incredibly kind, and takes the time to show you all the important places to visit. And that’s not all—he is always happy to help with anything you need. Without a doubt, this is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Korea. I would definitely come back!

They have really done a great job with the aesthetics and the common spaces creating a warm atmosphere. Had I more time and access to better cafes nearby I definitely would have utilized it more than I did. Also the coin lockers to hold stuff after checkout where you get your coin back after anyway was awesome

I understand The Owner Yoo has to deal with people who are extremely ignorant and assuming versus people who know their way around Korea. I don't knock him for the matter in the least. Just be aware he has to do his job for the sake of his business. He's a really nice guy.

Location is perfect. 2-5 minutes from the bus stop, convenience store and intercity bus station. The beach is a short bus ride away. The hostel is clean and very aesthetic. The highlight of my stay was the host extremely welcoming and friendly behaviour. He helped me plan my trip in Korea beyond Sokcho; with tips on restaurants and activities. Highly recommend staying here.

A very cozy and calm place, with an extraordinarily kind, commited and helpful owner. He gave a full set of information about nearby places to visit, eat and explore, with a map, personalized recommendations and everything. Thank you so much Mr. Yoo!

Prachtige hostel. De eigenaar is super vriendelijk. Neemt de tijd om zaken uit te leggen en luistert naar wat je wil doen en geeft je dan ook de nodige info/tips. Super proper, goed gelegen. Mooie ruimte om te eten en daarnaast om te ontspannen. Wat wil een mens meer?

Host Yoo ist extrem lieb und weiss über alle Aktivitäten der Region bescheid.

Hätte nicht besser sein können, ausser dass es keinen Herd hat.

Good, just as described. I like the common area.

Run by the sweetest host, Yoo, he helped us upon arrival to help plan our 6 nights (ended up extending our stay) here by giving us information of great hiking trails, beaches and local spots to eat which was helpful. Great room size + great bathroom, washing machine (small fee) with rooftop clothes line for drying (as well as dryer). Convenient location for the beach, shops, market and bus stops for National Park. Would happily stay again 😊

It wasn’t a big deal but the wifi can drop out at times. For fast wifi on multiple devic devices we went to Hollys Cafe on the beachfront, 15 min walk away.

Jeden z nejlepších hostitelů, co jsme na svých cestách zažili. Yoo byl velmi milý a vstřícný, předal nám spoustu užitečných informací. Ubytování bylo na skvělém místě. Blízko do centra, na autobusy a k moři. Ubytování jednoduché a prostředí hostelu roztomilé.

Adorable quirky place. En-suite rooms with air con, tv and fridge. Lovely common area with kitchen / dining room and outside tables and chairs. Whimsical decoration gives the place lots of character. Super friendly owner who provides lots of useful information about the town and nearby national park.

Pillows are a bit thin. There is no lift so wouldn’t suit people with mobility issues unless in the ground floor.

Everything was just perfect, location, services, the beautiful common area and a special note for the kindness of the host, Mr Yoo. He makes us feel at home e deeply welcomed

It was really atmospheric of European look. The Staff explained what restaurants are surrounded and he also gave me directions to the mountain hiking. That was really useful. I never seen an electric mosquito killer in a room. Really useful because I found one buzzing mosquito. I used a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Thanks.

No breakfast offered but no problem because a coffee and other te bags offered and a microwave too. Convenient store is next next to it it takes 10 sec.

The place is a good location for everything and it was definitely spacious, especially for the price. Its off the main road as well so its not loud at night either.

The beds are quite hard but not to bad if you dont like harder beds a topper would be best option.
