The Lodge Moiwa 834

The breakfast as well as the facilities were very nice no complaints

Doorstep to the ski slopes

Being a lodge/ capsule hotel means we have to accept some inconveniences, also there are no convenience store within walking distance

Staff kept the public areas clean.

Beds were not that comfortable.

Location. Facilities. Breakfast. Staff.

Pillows to firm! A little cold at times in communal areas

Amazing place,

Proximity to chairlifts, affordable

The "single room" is still paper thin

Great location for moiwa and bus to niseko. The staff are fantastic and everything you need for a short stay is there.

I found the air conditioning a bit strong making sleeping uncomfortable.

I've never cried when I left a hotel because the stay was so wonderful. Why do people love Japan, specifically Hokkaido, and Moiwa most of all? Because of the people. The kindness and love of Manager Shiina, the amazing and fantastic Chef Ishii, Chef & resident Francophile Mrs. Keiko, Nagajima, and Thai speaker Saiparn are what guests remember. When I was young, I worked at a family hotel in Aspen (Snowmass) and the guests that returned so wanted to see a friendly face from years prior. Please keep your staff and... Give Shiina & Ishii a raise -they are amazing. When my friend Mike got sick, she made him soup from her home. When I needed snowshoes for back-country, she lent me her Grandfathers.... I could go on about the many gestures of love that the others provided; but I've been blessed by God to see tigers in the jungle in India & stay at the Singita's in Tanzania's Serengeti & in South Africa & visit Kechwo Timbo/Bataleur in Kenya's Masai Mara; but the Lodge at Moiwa outdoes them of all. I am forever grateful to have had the best 2 months of my entire life there with my friends Brett & Mike - thank you from the bottom of my heart, Keiko, Ishii, Shiina, Nakajima & Saiparn. You are welcome in the heart of Texas anytime. Love you always! xoxoxo lee

The staff is absolutely the best! Truly kind and helpful people that really make the stay extra special! Aloha

One of the most clean hotels I'v ever stayed in. Shiina, Nagajima, Saiparn are amazing. The chefs Ishii and assistant chef Keigo are unsurpassed! I have stayed at some of the highest ranked hotels in the world: Four Seasons Denver/Bali/India...etc..., many Ritz Carlton's, La Fonda in Santa Fe, the Aman (Amangani) in Jackson Hole, the Little Nell in Aspen (avoid!!!), Bulgari in Milano & Bali.... - The Lodge Moiwa 834 tops them all! This is heaven on earth and you will be so grateful to have the pleasure to stay there. It was opened by NorthFace but now has a different owner - please give the hotel manager Shinna and the Chef Ishii a GIANT raise. It is employees like them that make visitors want to move here permanently. People love Japan because of people like Shiina and Ishii. We are forever grateful for their honesty and kindness.

I always like staying at this place. It's very convenient quiet location, close to the lift and such an enjoyable staff.

Great

Great hostel for solo travelers looking to ski. Sleepy part of town with infrequent bus services and limited dining options, not very accessible to Niseko mountain but right at the base of Moiwa Mountain. Facilities were nice but the beds are uncomfy. Would recommend getting a car to get around. Would stay here again

It's a dorm for all intents. You have to go out your section via cypher lock, down the hall, down the stairs and thru another hall to get to the bathroom. Many guests have no hotel edicate skills, alarms going off for minutes at a time, phone conversations in the of the night from their bed in full voice. The food was TERRIBLE.

The sleep pods were perfect. Very up to date, lock box and different lighting with mirrors and everything! Very clean, very comfortable. Bathrooms were very clean and spacious. Honestly wish I would've booked all 3 nights here instead of just the one last minute

Great way to stay and skii in Niseko. Very close to the resort, very spacious beds, great storage space, great bathroom.

Capsules had no airflow, hard to get into

Facilities are clean and staff very helpful. Onsite restaurant is ok and serve breakfast (included) /lunch/dinner, has basic bar. Storage locker and garage under bunk are very spacious.

It was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great to basically ski out the door.

Right at the base of a great ski area, remarkable powder, and everything you need.

The staff is amazing! I was 1st here in 2017. Things have changed but the staff is extremely nice and friendly. Especially Shiina at the front desk. She deserves a raise. This trip I stayed for 2 months. The shuttle situation sucks but everything else is great. I’ll surely be back at the 834 next yr and every yr after. AloHa

The place always looks brand new, so clean and efficient. The layout has everything you need as close as you can get to the moiwa quad lift. I have stayed there many times. This time they did not have a shuttle service that was a disappointment but the taxis were available Two great onsens ten minutes walk. Love those!!

Perfekt för att resa ensam

Stay here . I visited in peak summer season. A walk to two onsen hotels for a luxury onsen experience and even a hot good meal without the high price of staying at them. It’s a lovely walk even at night . No bears , just foxes . Not bats either ….,,just too cold for those critters at 800m altitude and the long winter .

Cool place, but it would be more fun if there were activities for the guests who want to socialize as the snow activities finish early.

GREAT LOCATION! The staff was also beyond amazing and helpful! They always had a smile on their face and were always happy to help.

Well kept up. Extremely cordial staff. Were super helpful in any way and all spoke English well. Was fun for gourds and singles. Capsule was fun and easy.

First time in a capsule lodge. We got the cabin type. Though small, it's very comfortable. Best part is its just in front of ski resort! Though it could be better if they have more shittle schedules going to hirafu.

Great staff, very clean. Needs more shuttles from town at night.

Excellent breakfast and helpful staff. Close to ski resorts.

Great clean rooms and bathroom, great breakfast!

They didn't mention which bus to the ski resort, no person in-charge be there and guide, missed the bus, even though they rearranged but still have to walk for 1km

Close to skiing. Free shuttle certain times of day.

the room was cozy for sleeping. safe box, lightning control, plugs in each rooms and large storage under the bed with locks. and locker room for your ski/snowboards. shower room, toilets are shared and clean. fresh towls are available every night. staffs are very friendly and good breakfast was included. izakaya is located in near by, or bar lounge in this hostel. 10min walk to onsen. pretty good for single, couple travelers. but there is no convenience shop.

Toilets were not too clean. Cafe was closed for dinner earlier then advertised.

Staff were amazing, very friendly and fluent in English. Surprisingly, the food was also quite impressive. The only thing that is a very small Ding is that it’s a little loud at night as it is a capsule hotel.Very cool hotel, very cool people. Other thannot centrally located to the niseko united resorts, loved the atmosphere and cleanliness.

It’s my second time staying here. The place was great, ski in/ out. Places were modern and clean, you can meet lots of friends here! Staff were great, food were great! Definitely will come again.

Nice hotel at the doorstep of the ski field. Room is very clean and comfortable.

this is a very nice hindout for a few nights to enjoy the local Moiwa ski resort where it is very quiet and cosy as it is a small village but if you are a ski beginner, it is a much better place to hang out. Less people to share your runway.

It's like a really nice hostel. Everything is clean, there is both a locker for your snowboard stuff and a cubby underneath your bunk that locks for all your stuff. There's even a safe next to your bed for your valuables. The only downside was the food - it's an all Western menu thanks doesn't keep up with the rest of the lodge. Fortunately, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby.

near to ski resort, with awesome powder. - rentals and lift ticket prices cheaper then hirafu - no crowd. - better local food at ski resort hut - only thing, is limited variations of runs. but great for beginners and intermediates. capsule hotel breakfast is a western style - its quite nice - when there are not so many people, they serve you individually in a atas resturant way. - the dining area is gorgeous with high ceilings and huge windows out looking to the ski slopes. capsule - the place is new. its clean. well equipped. - got a safe for valuables - locked dormitory with sex segregation , so safety is ok - capasule is pretty roomy and not claustophobic - got a separate storage space for luggages. - got another locker area for snowboard equipmenf - only thing, you need to be pretty fit and agile to climb up and down from the capsule - there are 2 floors. so if you are from the second floor.... you need to climb stairs to your room. and down the stairs for the toilet on the first floor. - ootherwise fresh towels, conditioner, shampoo, bath gel are provided. - water is only available on the first floor at the dining. they also provide a driver for onsen trips, secomart at hirafu, to go hirafu ski resort. there is a free shuttle bus from moiwa to hirafu ski resort at fixed timing. all in all. i will come back again. this place is great for 1-2 nights stay to hit the powder slopes of moiwa.

The dorm was exactly the same as what described on the website, modern and comfortable capsule. In-room safe, luggage storage and ski equipment storage were available. Complimentary dinner were excellent! Staff were friendly and helpful! Shuttle buses were connected to train station and other ski resort around. I will definitely come back to this hotel again in my next ski trip!

Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. If they don't know the answer right away they will look into it and find out.

This is my second time stayed in this property. Ski in & out. Dinner menu was excellent. I like the onsen selection and shuttle van pick up and drop off to onsen. Excellent set of staff and service.

The staff are really helpful and friendly. The rooms and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. In general, the guests staying here are also nice. The location is exactly next to the Moiwa ski area. It literally takes less than a minute to get your ski gears and start skiing. This helps save a lot of traveling time, especially if you do not have a car. The experience is a pleasant surprise for both my friend and myself - definitely recommend!

The staff was great and very friendly. Free breakfast and lunch included with your stay. Kind of hard to get to from the other resorts at night because the main bus doesn't go all the way to moiwa. Overall though it was a great experience and very comfortable

Staff very friendly Beds uncomfortable Hard to sleep well with all noise from others , everything is noisy safes, storage , alarms No access to town or ammenities Only services small mountain moiwa which u ski in a day Pods are stuffy and mattress uncomfortable , no service for duration of stay
