It would be better if a microwave oven could be provided for use.

A chair in the room. It wasn’t a large room ( we knew this in advance). There was only a stool or bed to sit on; not good for an aging back. It’s quite a climb to the third floor. Only book this room if you can the stairs

We were placed in family room but it was difficult to access Luckily family members had reserved family room on ground floor & we managed to place 2 guests into that room

Onside parking was useful being pretty much the heart of Ambleside. Good continental breakfast. Check in was straight forward using App.

Beware some of the upper stairs are steep. There are no lifts so lower floors would be more suitable for those less able. Maybe it would be better to be clearer at the outset that car parking charges apply. Not surecif a thick winter duvet is the best option for a hot room in mid Sept.

Virkelig lækker frisk morgenmad, ingen English Breakfast, men frisk frugt i massevis. God plads på værelset og et dejligt badeværelse, rigtig god bruser. De fleste personaler var rigtig søde og hjælpsomme. Beliggenheden er helt perfekt, der er fantastisk mange vandre muligheder ud fra dette sted.

Der var sat frosting på alle vinduer og døre, så der var ingen mulighed for at se ud, med mindre man åbnede døren. Vi boede i stueetagen, der var utrolig lydt fra dem der boede over os, man kunne hører hvert et fodtrin. Sengene var meget formet på midten.. tydeligt at mærke de er blevet brugt meget.

I am very disappointed with my experience at Brathay Lodge. During our stay, approximately 3 litres of water accidentally spilled on the bathroom floor. However, the hotel informed us that water had apparently leaked into the room below and showed us photographs of damage. They then demanded £590.00 for repairs. When I requested that they handle this claim officially through Booking.com (the platform through which we booked), or contact the police or pursue it through court, the management refused all options. Instead, they demanded that we leave the property within one hour—nearly 22 hours before our scheduled check-out time. Due to time constraints and an important university commitment the following day, we had no choice but to leave. To make matters worse, upon handing back the keys, a staff member rudely said to my son, "Nice to not meet you again." The situation was extremely stressful. I am sharing this review so future guests are aware of how this property operates. I have retained all relevant photos and messages.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Brathay Lodge. You really couldn't ask for a better location to see Ambleside. We took the train/bus from Windermere and it dropped us off steps away from the B&B. All the major hikes around Ambleside were also within walking distance, or a short bus ride away. We had a room on the top floor with a beautiful view of Wansfell Pike! The bathroom was clean and modern with plenty of airflow. I sleep warm at night, so it was nice that they had a fan in the closet we could use.

The breakfast is primarily cold food (toast, store bought pancakes/waffles, muffins) with cereal, yogurt, fruit, and cold meats. It would have been amazing to have some hot food (scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, hot bacon).

This is not a 4 star hotel. It's a nice bed and breakfast accomodation. I didn't like the fact it was rated as a hotel at booking.

Great location in Ambleside. Comfy and spacious room. Fabulous powerful walk-in shower. Breakfast was perfect for us - continental with lots of choice. Friendly helpful staff.

There wasn't anything to dislike.

The location was excellent and so was the continental breakfast. The place was very clean and the hosts were very friendly. Parking was available.

We had a room where the curtains didn't close properly so light came in and it made it more difficult to sleep. Another problem was you couldn't get the main channels on the television- the message came up 'No signal' which was quite annoying.( This did get fixed for us when we mentioned it at reception).

The room was very large and clean. The bathroom was updated even tho the building was old. The staff was courteous and professional and treated the property like it’s their own home. They were gracious. We were on the first floor so that helped (there’s no lift). The location was great. Views were amazing.

The included breakfast didn’t have a lot of options. The bed wasn’t very comfortable.

Everything was absolutely perfect - location, rooms (we had one on the ground floor for family members who struggled to walk upstairs and one on top/roof floor for more mobile members), friendly staff, facilities, breakfast, lovely views onto the park and hills! We have really enjoyed the stay in this friendly cosy hotel in beautiful convenient location!

Excellent location right in the town, making it really convenient for exploring the area. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the check-in process was quick and straightforward. The room was basic but had everything we needed for our stay. Rooms aren’t cleaned daily, but you can request a basic service or ask for tea, coffee and other essentials to be replenished, which was fine for us. The continental breakfast was really nice, with everything fresh and plenty of choice. Breakfast is served between 8:00 and 9:30am, although extending this until 10:00am, particularly during school holidays, would be a nice improvement. Overall, a pleasant stay in a great location.

Overall, we felt it was good value for money for the area. It would have been even better if parking was included in the room rate rather than an additional £12 per night.

Staff were great - very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent. One of the best "continental" breakfasts I've had. Just an excellent place to stay in Ambleside.

I would have liked the 12 GBP per vehicle per night had been included in the price when I booked the room. It's worth paying for the parking - I would just prefer it be declared up front.

Location was fab. Very close to town centre, restaurants and bars. It had parking, had to pay for it, but worth it, as you can struggle to get parked.

We had a super king size room and it was really spacious with a super king size bed. Onsite parking is available at £12 per night. Breakfast is continental only but it was still good.

Parking could have been included in the cost and soundproofing between rooms could be better. Apart from that, no complaints whatsoever and highly recommended for a quality Lake District experience!

Lovely hosts. Good breakfast for activities - not a heavy full English, but fresh fruits, nuts, cereals, breads and strong coffee and juice! Rooms were nice and spacious. Good showers, decent pillows, TV and information provided. I can't really fault it overall and we would definitely stay here again as it was a great location for what we wanted to do and see - even with the issue we encountered it was dealt with efficiently.

First night the person above us was exceptionally noisy, stamping until 4am and running water excessively. This did heavily impact our day following this as we were very tired. There is a rule in hotel that it should be quiet between 11pm and 8am. However - we raised this with the manager and he spoke to the 'offender' and we received an apology, along with a much better nights sleep on the second night. I also found the Masai Mara artwork really odd and I think lake district images would make the rooms much more upmarket.

The view was amazing, staff friendly and the lodge in total was very cozy and peaceful. Short walk to town and bus stops. Lots of fresh fruits at breakfast which we liked. The room was tidy and a lot better than expected with the affordable price. Tea and coffee in the room.

Fantastic guest house in ideal location. Stayed in double deluxe room and it was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. Reception lady was not cheerful at all or particularly welcoming , maybe she was having a bad day . The shower room was modern , powerful and spacious. 10/10 for shower and breakfast.

The room said small but it was tiny to the point my husband kept hitting his leg to walk to the toilet . Clean but very dated .

We had a fantastic stay at Brathay Lodge. The entire place felt incredibly nice and cozy. It is also conveniently located within 2 min walk to the Ambleside town centre, making it the perfect spot to explore the rest of the Lake District. Another major highlight was the excellent complimentary breakfast (8 to 930 am), which gave us a great start to our day. Highly recommend this lovely lodge for anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming getaway!

Requested lower floor but this was not accommodated, also was expected to pay for parking when guests who booked direct with the hotel were not. Either hotel needs to make sure there are no hidden costs or simply stop advertising through third party agents as this policy is very frustrating.

Umfangreiches Frühstück mit vielen Beeren, Obst ... Fische und gutem Tee und Kaffeeauswahl (Maschine). Zimmer abseits der Straße schön ruhig. Bergblick. Central gelegen. Bushaltestellen in der Nähe... Sehr freundlicher Empfang durch geschultes Personal. Zeigte uns sogar das Zimmer.

Haus leicht hellhörig. Aber Nachtruhe war gewährleistet. Mehr Hacken für Handtücher wäre schön.

We had a wonderful large room looking out to the greenery across the road. Fabulous bed and sitting area. It’s just a minute to the centre of the village. The continental breakfast was extensive - loved all the fruit. Staff were very helpful. Did some wonderful local short walks. Recommend the Fresher cafe just down the road for a lovely lunch.

Room very comfortable and unlike many hotels in the room were 2 seats for 2 people. Beds comfortable and hotel generally very clean with good toiletries and bathroom facilities. Good outside seating area and although breakfast was continental in style there was a very good selection of fruits, cold meats, salmon and cheese.

Not really the hotels fault but electric car charger did not work. Its provided by a third party who confirmed with me it had an issue on the day we were trying to use it - I would note that the hotel were very helpful in assisting in trying to get the charger working but unknown to them it had a fault.
