Booked a superior suite and it was huge. Clean comfortable. Staff friendly. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order. Booked first evening meal which was good home cooked food. Could not fault this hotel
Cleaners didn't come in for our second day of stay. We saw them and they gave us fresh towels in the morning but no extra shower gel (one tiny bottle) for two people to last 2 nights. Not good enough.
The location and room quality
Nothing, fourth stay and will return
The lady on the reception desk who greeted me was so friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately the chap who was in the breakfast area was not friendly or particularly helpful.
The restaurant
Shower and receptionist
Friendly and helpful staff. Location was nice. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Room was a bit basic for the price. There was a reception on downstairs which was quite noisy until late. Cooked breakfast buffet was disapponting with low quality ingredients, though the fresh fruit was good.
Beautiful location
The room was very characterful, comfortable and spacious. And the staff very friendly.
The latest time for ordering food was 8.30, which seems quite early, especially for a location catering for people travelling. The food though was excellent with very generous portions
Nice location
Really dated Fusty smells, seen better days Nothing like pictures on hotel platforms
Room was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was good and choice of dinners was good too.
All was ok.
Lovely place to stay. This is my second time
Location is good to get out and about
Not stuffy.. just a really good hotel
Nothing too much trouble
Great evening meal was very hot and well presented Breakfast service was excellent and staff so attentive to our needs good selection offered. The cold section had lots to offer with toast, fruit, yogurts, cereals etc.
The only thing in the room is the bathroom upstairs and so in the evening for safety the stairs lights needed to be kept on. This would not stop me staying in the same suite again.
The lovely lady in reception who was there for check in and checking out was such a lovely friendly person. We felt like we were having a chat with a friend. She explained everything helped us with freezing an ice pack as I have arthritis. So so lovely greeting and wishing us well on our journey. An absolute credit to your hotel, thank you
Nothing
Olde Worldy yet tastefully modernised
Nothing
Food was excellent. Restaurent, reception, hallways and outside clean and tidy
My bed linen was clean and fresh but otherwise there was dust on all the surfaces and the lip of the shower tray on the outside was dusty and had hairs on it. Dust on light fittings in bathroom and next to bed. A dirty mark a few inches long on tongue and groove next to bed
Didn’t have time for breakfast
Nice but could have been cleaner
The wedding barns were beautiful
Lovely hotel, great location for us , going north on to Scotland, Nice restaurant and tasty food, including breakfast.
The excessive noise from the Aircon units outside the bedroom window, causing a poor night sleep, not good when on a long journey north.
The room was amazing, great value, the staff were also fantastic, nothing was a problem, food also brilliant
Our room
Corridor were noisy
Lovely quiet position, surrounded by countryside. Nice room, good staff and good food
Exceeded our expectations
Nothing
Accommodation was amazing, great space and very comfy
Nothing to say here
Lovely location, very friendly staff. Room was lovely and spacious
TV was tiny and there was not enough light in the bathroom - my husband struggled to shave. Some maintenance required as overhead shower was broken and lights in the bathroom either did not work at all and the bathroom mirror light only partially worked making the bathroom very dim unless the curtains were fully open There was a wedding party in the room next door on the Friday night/Saturday morning who were very noisy and woke us up at 6 am
Great location just off the A1
Some areas need a bit of tlc
Warm welcome, lovely venue and the grounds have been immaculately kept. Good choice at breakfast. Male receptionist who greeted us on the 21st August is a credit to the company , very professional and very helpful .
The bathroom needed attention, soap dispenser hanging off the wall, which l did report to reception. Did not have the full compliments of towels, which l reported to reception. No change of towels on second day. Shower flooded the floor. Very hard pillows.
Friendly, good location for exploring, great hotel to return to at the end of the day
Nothing
Lovely location and incredibly friendly staff.
Not much! Tiny thing- croissants at breakfast were stale and fishcakes for lunch were heavy. Food was the weak spot but everything else was fab.
The room was great, very spacious and comfortable. Friendly welcome at arrival.
The staff were a little slow, the bar was unattended for a good length of time it was quiet but there were people drinking also for lunch we were on a tight turn around but when we were seated we weren't told that we needed to order food at the bar. This is just a bit unfortunate rather than a big problem.
One of the rooms was ok in size. The young man on breakfast duty who was very pleasant.
Everything, from the cloying smell of room freshener all over the property to the rather surly lady on reception. The rooms were awful and were not cleaned. One room was particularly depressing, dark and painted grey. The whole place had a joylessness about it. Rooms are strangely hot, walls are paper thin and corridor/room conversations audible to all. Just avoid this ‘hotel’ at all costs. We usually like to support independent properties but this place is really taking the proverbial. It would almost be excusable were it a cheap stay, but it’s not.
Great facilities, kind staff, delicious breakfast

The building was sublime.
The cold on the shower didn't work, we were there only for 2 days and never reported it as the shower was nice and warm.
Great location for area . Great value fir pricre although i was just staying on thursday night suspect weekend pricing may be different. Bathroom had plenty if space to .manoeuvre . Cooked Breakfast excellent Evening meals at attached bar good typical prices for pubs . Unfortunately no real ale on but Murphys was
Unfortunately given bed frame was solid wood including area where put mattress over and it was a thin mattress it did feel like sleeping on bench for night even though slept on top of duvet .
Complete in every way
Nothing
Lovely location with very friendly staff. Great room with very comfortable bed and a clean and modern ensuite.
As it’s a wedding venue, the evening disco was loud but we didn’t mind it.
Lovely and clean, very quiet, food was great and the staff were absolutely brilliant (even down to the young new starter (your training programme is clearly working - very polite and courteous)
Nothing, great place
Lovely room, very modern, loved that it had air con. We were attending a wedding we couldn’t hear anything from the wedding party from the room, which was a bonus as we took our newborn.
Only issue we had was we couldn’t get out of the building easily after hours.
Good Hotel excellent service Lovely garden
Part of a wedding party we couldn’t fault any of our stay The meals the staff the building rooms & gardens were exceptional
I couldn’t fault anything
Lovely setting, great outdoor seating, lovely breakfast, nice staff
Small room, dreadful pillows, smell from the shower, poor outlook on to roof with numerous aircon units, which made a water sound all night
Breakfast was great. Bed could have been bigger as we were hot. Dinner was very good, lovely and hot, except the chips were soggy
TV didn’t work on many channels
Great location. Easy to find with lots of parking. Large room and fab shower Great staff and I really appreciated the flexibility about my morning arrangements thank you
being such a fabulous and picturesque building it is clearly a great wedding venue but unfortunately my room was above the function room which mean loud music until late into the evening. It was surprising and rather annoying that there were no plug sockets (or extensions) near the bed even with my 2m charging lead I couldn’t get it anywhere near and as I use my phone to both go to sleep with (music / podcast on a sleep function) and then wake up to an alarm this proved tricky.
Dinner was very good
Can’t think of anything
Lovely country hotel with a warm, Yorkshire welcome.
Clean tidy rooms with air conditioning, great for the very hot weather. Friendly staff. Very quiet considering there was a wedding party in the same hotel. We had made our own arrangements for meals. We were only staying one night one the way down and one on the way home to and from our holiday in Norfolk, because it was too far to drive in one day.
I can't really think of anything we disliked.

Beautiful setting, friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel

Nice room, comfy bed. Superb breakfast and a good variety of options for dinner. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
A/c not working in bedroom but they had supplied 3 fans to help make up for that. Some of the fixtures were tired e.g worn carpets and toilet flush buttons needing replaced. But altogether a good stay.
Really regal, nice, cozy and on amazing grounds. But non compare to the friendliness of Lisa on reception. So nice, friendly and welcoming, just what you need after driving half way up the country to visit kitchens , concrete and bifold doors
Nothing
Room was lovely
Unfortunately we booked when there was a function on so was a bit noisy, but to be fair we were warned in advance also was woken up at 2am with loud noises, not sure what it was
We stay once a year to combine the Doncaster craft fair and meeting up with our friends in pontefract. Love the location, staff are always welcome and happy.
Only one concern was the pressure in the shower wasn't very good which caused the water to be not as hot, but apart from that the stay was wonderful.
Beautiful historic building, peaceful location, quiet room, clean bathroom, lovely shower, friendly staff, good air conditioning, easy parking
Lack of power sockets, no fridge.
Very friendly staff. Good choice of breakfast food. Thermometer was very clean and well equipped. Lovely location too.
Nothing
Welcoming staff, quirky old building in attractive grounds with countryside views. Comfortable room with air conditioning which was wonderful on a 35C day. Ideally positioned for a stopover on the A1. Excellent breakfast with good choice and proper fresh fruit salad.
Nothing.
Beautiful historic property set in grounds surrounded by open countryside. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are comfortable all having air conditioning which has been a godsend with recent weather. Food in the restaurant is well thought out, and a great selection catering for all.
Can’t think of anything that I didn’t or don’t like about this hotel.
Bed was erg hard.
Big room. Good breakfast. Fantastic location
Bathroom badly smelt of mould & damp
I can't praise you enough all the staff made me feel so comfortable and treated me with much respect when I'm next up I won't hesitate to book you again thank you so much I would recommend you to my friends in fact already have
Impossible I loved everything
The staff particularly in the restaurant/bar in the evening were fabulous. It was extremely clean and welcoming.

Stayed here overnight, and arrived to find that we'd been unexpectedly upgraded. The room was fabulously huge with everything spotless and working. Beds were very firm, but still comfortable. We had dinner in the Jacobean pub next door; which was tasty; my husband's fish and chips were spot on. For breakfast we had the continental which was fresh and enjoyable. The machine-brewed coffee was actually quite good for a change, and we checked out rested, fed and watered for our onward journey south. We'd stay here again for definite, even without an upgrade.
Stayed here for two nights on business. The first night was fine - pleasant staff - clean and comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. Unfortunately that was totally overshadowed by a very unpleasant second night. The hotel was hosting a school prom. This meant that there was incredibly loud dance music playing until 11pm. Despite my wearing noise-cancelling headphones I could not escalate the music as the volume was so loud and the soundproofing in my room was so poor. Whilst I'm sure the kids had a wonderful time I lit meant I had a very late night - or what I had planned or needed on a business trip.
Lovely Hotel situated between 2 country villages but only 10 minutes from Pontefract. Room was very clean and comfortable and excellent breakfast buffet with very good choice of freshly cooked hot breakfast. Staff were very helpful and cheerful and a choice of a conservatory or lounge to sit and relax in.
Lovely room clean and tidy and the staff were very nice also the breakfast was really good
Location was beautiful, lots of garden space for the wedding. As we were guests for a wedding it was great to stay the two nights and not have to worry about transport etc Pizza was very tasty. Staff were generally very helpful and polite.
The decor was a little tired in places. It was a bit confusing getting around in the hotel - signage for breakfast etc. breakfast - long waits for food to be restocked and toasters took an age to put any colour in the bread, even when turned up. Would have liked more egg options too. Room - our bed in room 8 was extremely hard and uncomfortable - hotel was fully booked so unable to rectify this. Bottled water in the rooms would have been a nice touch since it was summer and very hot. It was quite expensive for the two nights stay when the bed wasn’t very comfortable.
Exceptional nights sleep, very comfy bed, spacious and clean. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
Nothing
We have stayed before and the area is a convenient stop off for us.
The only complaint was that the single beds were really hard - not a comfortable nights sleep ! the rooms looked out on a flat roof .
Prachtige Manor
Staff excellent .Room good .Very good breakfast.
Bar prices getting pricey . Poor shower in bathroom.
Very handy EV charger
Mycket intressant hus med sin historia och korridorer.
I loved the rooms here, the suit i stayed in was amazing
nothing
The staff were absolutely fantastic. So helpful.
Very dated rooms
The room was lovely and spacious. Food was excellent Staff very friendly and quick service
Great location and nice restaurant
It had an oldie worldie feel to it, breakfast was outstanding, staff were friendly and accommodating
No tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom
Nice from the approach to the property. It’s really dated and needs serious money spent on it
If I hadn’t been a man I’d have struggled to turn on the shower. Even then the water trickled out of it. Massively overrated property.
Nice comfortable room and clean. Food was typical pub grub but all good. Good breakfast selection of cooked and continental.
No real complaints although our waiter in the morning at breakfast was rather grumpy!
Arrived out of hours very helpful and accommodating night staff.
Stayed in Room 6. Could hear the hum from AC units on the roof through the window. Sunday breakfast finished at 10.00 - we missed it ! Saturday breakfast disappointed with half of English breakfast selection empty. Very very slow at being refilled.
The staff were pleasant, however, the buffet breakfast is not a four star experience. A very small and poorly designed shower. Insufficient towels. And below average toiletries. And very expensive for the standard of room. Room above the function room so loud music until midnight prevented me going to sleep.
Quiet setting
It's in a beautiful setting, our room was lovely and the staff were very friendly.
Convenient and comfortable
Small admin issue (someone had charged their meal to our room before we even arrived!) which was sorted out immediately by the charming staff.
We were very impressed with the staff, friendly, helpful and professional. The "Pub"/dining area was very pleasant, relaxed and the food for breakfast and dinner exceeded expectations
The walls between the rooms were a bit thin so noise levels between rooms was quite high.
Excellent location and really good food
Nothing
Venue is lovely and convenient. Parking convenient. Ok for one night, but not for extended stay. Suites were available, but didn't see them so can't comment.
The room we stayed in was dated. Evening meal average but staff very helpful.
Nicely located in countryside, great pub on site, comfortable beds and good nights sleep.
Room tad tight, but was the budget room last minute booking.
Very pleasant staff. The room was very large with good facilities.
Some areas are showing their age. Dated bathroom. The view was non existent which was a shame as the surrounding area is lovely.
It was a lovely building, decorations were in keeping with building. Brilliant location. Was there for a wedding which was beautiful
The staff were very helpful and friendly especially the guy in reception as I arrived been travelling for over 5 hours with a 3 year old and a 8 year old and he made it so easy to check in and made me feel at ease the building was really lovely and everything smelled so clean and fresh would definitely stay there again.
Nothing
The accomodation and surroundings and staff
It was expensive f
We spent the day and night for our friends wedding and the location is perfect. The staff are so helpful and friendly and the rooms are a bit dated but comfy and clean. The buffet breakfast is excellent with a continental buffet and cooked breakfast. Thank you for the lovely stay.
Breakfast were excellent. Super range of choices and everything was just perfect. The fresh fruit and yoghurt was wonderful.
Difficult to think of anything really. However the salmon , crushed potato , green beans and dill and lemon sauce was not very pleasant for me. Sorry everything just dripping in some melted fat - not a sauce.!
We went when there was no wedding on and it was peaceful and beautiful. Stayed in the hideaway which was glorious and private and such a beautifully decorated and well thoight out space.
Convenient location. Stayed before.
Nice location, good breakfast and friendly staff.
We booked a superior double room, ended up being sent out to a suite that was a converted barn. We had hoped for a nice double room in the manor but ended up it what felt more like a luxury hostel. Perfect for family of 6 but not what two of us were hoping for.
This hotel excels at the food offering at lunch and dinner time. Reasonable value but good wholesome food. The room was quiet and had air conditioning which was appreciated as it was warm.
The pillows were quite firm which disrupted my sleep. No other real complaints.
