Nice
What an amazing traditional experience! The staff were all so kind and the presentation of the dinner/breakfast was so beautiful. Authentic food and we got to try lots of new things for the first time. Lake views were stunning and a view of Mt Fuji is available on the 7th floor if you’re lucky with the weather!
Not a true Ryokan experience but a beautiful spot. The “comforters” were dirty but the sheets were clean
I had a positive stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, even before the official check-in time, they kindly offered to store my luggage so I could begin sightseeing right away. They also provided a complimentary shuttle to the bus terminal, which was very convenient. It is an easy walk downhill from the bus station to the hotel, but carrying luggage back uphill can be a challenge—so the shuttle was much appreciated. The room itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with excellent shower water pressure. The spa facilities are a highlight, though each has its own character. The 6th-floor spa offers a beautiful view of the lake. It features a small outdoor warm bath (suitable for two) and a large indoor warm bath, but no sauna, steam bath, or cold plunge. The basement spa, on the other hand, is more extensive, with a large outdoor bath overlooking a stone waterfall, a spacious indoor warm bath, a cold plunge bath, and a sauna. The sauna was not operating during my early-morning visit at 6 a.m., though to be fair, this may have been due to the early hour. The traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent, and the dining room provided a gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding mountains, making for a memorable start to the day. Overall, this property offers great service, very good value, and an excellent location. I would gladly recommend it to other travelers.
This property had amazing views and staff that was incredibly helpful.
Not sure why this is a 3 star hotel. I had a 5 star experience with the customer service staff. I booked a standard room and wanted to upgrade. The room I got(although last minute) had a really nice view to the lake. The place is really well maintained and the food was good. I will definitely come back.
食べきれないほどのご馳走でした。 ご飯は勿論ですが、水が美味しかった。
Nice quiet town. Lakeside was nice, dinning was good but many restaurants are only open for 3 hours over lunch. Great place to stay if you want to hike Fuji, close to Kawaguchiko station made it easy to get around. Staff were friendly, no language barriers. Enjoyed our stay, very authentic room (western style Japanese)
Love the room and the food (breakfast). I wished there was more information provided at check in about breakfast menus, dinner, and the hotel restaurant. I also wish that check out time is at 11am instead of 10 am.
.
Great place for our family’s first Ryokan experience. Very helpful and friendly staff. We included the meal plan and it included so much food.
Nice view
Gorgeous view, amazing spa and wonderful staff!!
This was our top stay inclusive of hotels in Tokyo, Lake Kawaguchiko, and Kyoto. So special to be beside the lake, have our own private onsen, and have dinner served right in our room. This hotel and experience was everything we imagined and hoped for.
The staff is friendly, the property is clean and quiet
Everything we wanted after climbing Mount Fuji. Great Lake view from our spacious Japanese style room, hot springs and fresh local food. Great hospitality too!
Brilliant place, amazing service and great experience overall. 100% recommend
Family of nine trip to meet Japanese family and leisure.
We had the dinner and breakfast included. It was the best included meals we have had in Japan. The baths with the water fall was wonderful.
We are right in front of lake kawaguchiko and saw a spectacular fireworks show tonight!
We loved our stay here and the staff were very helpful.
Very nice Japanese traditional style hotel. The location is great, close to the sight-seeing bus line and to the cable car lift. The bath is great, with good views on the 7th floor. it is a pity the room we had doesn't have a view though. The staff are nice, very polite. They also provide car service to and from the Fujikawaguchiko Station, which is nice!
Stayed two nights here while touring Japan from US. Really enjoyed our stay in a traditional Japanese Ryokan. The whole vibe was great, including provided kimonos, private dinner rooms, communal breakfast, multiple onsens, gorgeous garden. Meals were wonderfully traditional.Very laid back atmosphere but very professional and conscientious service. The front desk was very helpful.
Excellent service!
Exelent place
Staff was the best! Everyone was attentive and made us feel like special guests. Would definitely stay again!
The private onsen was so worth it, it was an amazing experience!
Hotel was amazing in a perfect location, the shuttle from Kawaguchiko station is extremely convenient, I ran into trouble with my bus to leave but the staff was sooo patient and helpful. I had a truly special experience at this hotel- HIGHLY recommend getting the private bath with a lake view
Service is pretty personalized and in good attendance. Location is wonderful.
Fantastic experience for 1 night. Enjoyed the Japanese style room with outdoor bath and view of the lake. We opted for the included dinner which they serve in your room and it has many courses, so we were extremely full. Breakfast was served in the dining room which was also abundant. Great stay and well worth the price. We found this hotel convenient with a 10min walk to Kowaguchiko station with a slight hill and 5min walk to the base of the ropeway.
Staff not accommodating.
Beautiful hotel and amazing onsen
Mostly good, but... The Kaiseki meal and Japanese breakfast were flawless in delivery and taste. Room was good, but felt a little worn. Our room opened onto an outdoor area which was badly neglected in every way. It detracted from the overall experience, unfortunately. Also, the private Onsen was really in need of freshening up, not worth the extra cost. The wooden tub was suffering from advanced mould growth. Good location and helpful staff.
What an amazing stay! Room was so spacious with a beautiful view from the balcony, we also had a private onsen which was just what we needed to relax. 10/10 would recommend this place and stay here again!
Amazing Stay, great food and service. Japan rooms were a great new experience. Cherry Blossom around the lake still on the 4th week of April, such a great stay!
Front desk staff speak good English. Room is clean and comfy. Most of us stayed at the basic standard Japanese style room and the huge Mt. Fuji is right behind the window. Huge carpark right across the street. I particularly want to give compliments to a front desk lady named 花梨(a taiwanese pretty lady). I lost my key for my luggage case. 花梨 proactively approached more than one local key man to help me opened the luggage case, which finally saved it from being forced opened and damaged.
Peaceful and traditional Japanese ryokan style hotel with two onsen, sauna, incredible Japanese breakfast and superior staff
We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all helpful and kind. The food was delicious (be prepared for A LOT of food at breakfast and dinner) and we loved our in-room onsen . The hotel is showing its age with some visible wear and tear but it didn’t detract from the enjoyment of our stay. The location can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend staying here. Thank you to all of the staff.
A absolutely beautiful ryokan room. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. The onsen over looking lake kawaguchi was just beautiful even if the weather was rainy! The onsen made it more spectacular. Good amenities and staff very helpful! I would have like to have breakfast on the room rather than in dining hall. As I don’t like the food traditional Japanese breakfast. A Lawson next door was handy.
Honestly, I’ve stayed at a lot of 4 star hotels and I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Kasuiei Ohya! Then setting is beautiful, the room was immaculate, the staff was sincere, helpful and accommodating. They even went out of their way to assist in filling out our luggage transfer paperwork so it arrived at our next destination easily. Pro-tip: most staff members speak enough English for basic discussions. I would love to come back in summer to take in the natural environment!
nice
Nice onsen in the room, amazing rooms. Friendly staff and a great food. Great service.
Amazing! I was fortunate enough to stay one night here and I wish I could have stayed more! The staff is so nice and courteous, the room was a dream, definitely a highlight of my trip to Japan! I booked for half boarding and the food was traditional Japanese style meals that were good and awesome to experience. The room had a lake view that was calming and the hot baths were soothing. I also was fortunate enough to book a massage at the spa downstairs and it was the perfect cherry on top! Thank you Kasuitei Ohya for the amazing hospitality and experience! Hope to have the chance to be back again someday!
The staff spoke great English and were super friendly. We enjoyed both the public onsen options, both really different, clean, relaxing, had great bath prody, and were fun to experience. The traditional breakfast was the best we had. Only complaint might be that the mattresses were pretty thin, but we were only there one night, so it was fine. Overall amazing experience!
Friendly staff and great dinner.
Stayed one night. The facilities are a bit old and outdated but I had a peaceful sleep and enjoyed the dinner and breakfast provided.
Loved the environment and the staff were 1st class, the main activities where walking distance
Wonderful onsen
Very nice ryokan. A little bit away from Kawaguchiko station but the hotel offers a fast shuttle service.
Dated facilities and average sevice
Traditional Japanese room was very relaxing. You could enjoy tea while viewing the lake.
Amazing food included in the meal plan. Service is top notch. English is welcome and they speak well. Definitely recommend.
Open air bath too open, not even private at all, totally not worth the price.
We only stayed overnight and we had a wonderful experience. Wish we could have stay for another night. Definitely going to stay here again next time we visit Japan.
This is the best hotel if you are interested in the Japanese Ryokan experience with a private onsen bath.
Awesome ryokan, if you want to experience a private onsen with a lake view with authentic traditional japanese dinner - Kaiseki this ryokan is a must
Very peaceful retreat!
Good location but hotel is old and has a weird smell. Daily onsen tax due at checkout. Shower had mildewy smell and visible mold on tile. Turned me off to even try the hotel onsen because I was afraid it was too dirty. Very traditional breakfast and nice experience every morning. It will definitely have you try new foods. Shuttle was helpful to the station.
Beautiful view, hot tub outside with view is breath taking, food was good, staff were VERY nice.
Staff was amazing. Location was great, near Lawson convenience store. Breakfast was good. Less than 10 mins walk to Kawaguchiko station. If you have luggage, you can call them to arrange for shuttle pick-up. You can also book private onsen for an additional charge.
Great stay next to Lake Kawaguchi. The room was clean, staff were friendly, and the includes breakfast was a plus. Would definitely recommend!
Fantastic, supreme dinner & Breakfast!
Location is walking distance from Kawaguchiko station and Mt Fuji Panoramic ropeway...and the view of the lake just in front of the hotel..
We had an amazing included breakfast with stunning lake view. Unexpected and amazing!
great and simple property well managed; trad rooms; onsen onsight
I had to leave earlier in the morning than I originally expected, so I was going to miss the complimentary breakfast. When I told the staff to cancel my breakfast, they offered me a lunch bento to take with me instead. Incredible service and very kind staff.
The room is not clean and has quite some dust at the door handle, air grill in the bathroom. The facility was old
We stayed in their condo as a splurge for our honeymoon and VERY glad we did. Things close early in the area so we knew we wanted a great place to stay and relax. As a vacation hotel room, this space is amazing! I will say though, quality of what is within the room was a bit inconsistent with how luxe it appeared, for example: toilet paper was terrible, towels were super thin and rough, the laundry room included was actually super tiny under a staircase and a shock that they'd even want guests to step in there (I ended up paying for the coin laundry down the street which was SO nice). So despite the room aesthetics being super nice, there was definitely some head tilting moments of wondering if some things were neglected and cheap, and just nice at the surface... I don't feel inclined to book again.
Beautiful hotel, amazing service and food. The roof top osen was clean with a great view of the lake.
We paid too much ch for what we got
Great experience, excellent breakfast.
Perfect, only downside is that it isn’t lake facing but didn’t matter for me honestly. I had a decent view of the town but not the mountain or lake.
So the bathroom was slightly dirty, but everything else was absolutely fantastic!
Enjoyed wearing yukata (provided) and private onsen.
The dinner was very nice
This was a beautiful resort right on the lake with views of Mt. Fuji... traditional Japanese style rooms and a wonderful staff!!
Room was very run down, smelt musky and was overall dirty. Mould on the lampshade for example and cushions stained. Foyer and hallways also smelt terrible with carpets looking like they have never been cleaned. Staff were welcoming and friendly, can't fault them... Paid way too much for this place and feel ripped off.
Excellent location and service, thanks for the hospitality service provided by the hotel staff
Very nice hotel
An authentic experience of Japan, this hotel exceeded all our expectations and was one of the highlights of our trip. The private onsen in our room was worth the extra money.
This property worth the money spent. It’s beautiful and the food is so good and we can’t even finish their plates. We will come back again.
Loved the private and public onsens, especially the outdoor but concealed section of the public onsen
The room we booked had a great view of the mountain. Checkout time was early, 10am compared to many other hotels that we were used to. Couldn’t stay in room when they made the traditional Japanese bed. Overall, pleasant experience
Nice and clean Onsen hotel, unfortunately the onsen with view was under construction work.
Excellent location & service .
I had great meals, onsen, views of Mr. Fuji, and hospitality. This ryokan is the best of stay.
The hotel is quiet and relax as well as so clean and the staff professional and very kind
Do not stay in suites 401,402,501,502 it is the worst experience I’ve had in 30 years of travel. The hotel owner also owns a 24 hour access gym located on floors 3 and 4. We had room 401 and the noise from gym music, and people often dropping weights made it impossible to sleep. The bed actually shook from the constant weight dropping. The owner also has apartments and gym showers on the suite floors which are also very noisy. We were given a phone number upon check in to call for any problems. After lying in bed for an hour I got up to call. The rooms don’t have phones. You have to use the staffed phone on the first floor. So I had to get dressed and when I went down there was no staff. So I had to walk outside cross a street and go to the main hotel. Staff offered to talk to the people in the gym and did (I was asked to join) which was a waste of time as people are constantly coming and going from the gym and music never stops. Back at the hotel (this has now been 30mins) I said I still needed a solution that would allow me to sleep. Management replied that all rooms were full. The process was very slow about 1.5 hrs total. I asked them to find and pay for a room at a different hotel. Each exchange was taken by staff to a manager somewhere while I waited for them to determine a reply. A room had ‘suddenly’ become available in a different building without a gym. My husband and I replaced our room and relocated around midnight. It was quiet.
Loved staying here! The room was fantastic and the staff lovely and helpful. The public and private baths are worth staying for here alone. Great location for exploring the surrounding area as close to the station and local sightseeing bus
Wonderful hotel with both view of the lake Kawaguchiko and the Mt. Fuji. Breakfasts are delicious. Room is very clean.
Just a perfect stay. Everything about it was stunning
This is a pretty basic ryokan with a view of Lake Kawaguchiko, but not of Mt. Fuji. The rooms are on the small side and the public onsen are really old/tired looking.
Comfortable services overall.
Very good ryokan resort. Nice staff. Everything was ready when we checked in. We stayed in traditional Japanese room with the view of lake Kawaguchico. Japanese set meals for dinner and breakfast were amazing. We had a good time there!
This was an amazing place to stay. We were only here for a night, but it was the most relaxing stay ever. The private onsen was amazing and there were so many special touches like matching pajamas, a goodie bag and breakfast included. We left very early so the staff gave us our breakfast the night before in a packed lunch and it was so lovely. We also got a massage and it was incredible. Staff were so kind and lovely. Would definitely stay here again, thanks so much <3
Wonderful property. True Japanese experience for my teenagers. Staff was wonderful. Restaurants in the area close early and coffee shops do not open until 9:00 am, so need to plan for that. Breakfast at hotel was wonderful and great variety of local cuisine.
It was a very nice stay! The Food at the evening and the morning was very varied, so each one find something that he likes.
Very disappointing and aware that my views are different to others. I booked here as it said 'spa hotel' - important for me travelling alone if the weather is poor or if I need to adjust for jet lag - spa opens at 4pm, no use to me, meals are by appointment so evening was 6 or 6.30 so if I did want to use the spa it would not have been comfortable to then eat or eat and then spa not great either. Had I not booked with a spa I could have had a hotel much much cheaper than this - too expensive for what was promised and what was received. I had no idea that the meal service was so rigid. Japanese meals served which was fine - little tricky with such a large quantity in one meal and being served in the room was also not very pleasant as the room then smelled of food and I did not get any opportunity to mix with other guests - breakfast my seat was to face the wall, not into the room - so I moved it obviously. I am very aware of different customs/different country and a frequent traveller to Japan. Position of hotel was wonderful, on the lake, condition of the hotel was very aged - all worn, not very clean and Onsen very dirty with black mould, they really need to clean and update. I paid for 1 in a room for 4 so well over and above. Front desk not much help for tourists. Lounge area dark and uninviting with big signs saying 'no food' - it was the only place with a western chair so useful to me as my room did not have a comfortable space to sit.
The hotel is great. The rooms are confortable and beautiful and the lake’s view is very nice. The food (dinner and breackfast) is delicious. The staff from the hotel is really helpfull.
very hospitable and lovely stay for foreigners looking for a somewhat traditional ryokan experience.
