The double bed was far too small. Was not adequate for the price paid for the room. For a lovely hotel in all other respects the lack of sleep spoilt the experience

The location was great right near the centre. Staff were all very polite and could not do enough for you. Only ate the breakfast at the hotel which was freshly made to order with a good choice.

Great position . Breakfast excellent.

Shower not connected on arrival and only cold water for a bath. I was tired after busy day and just wanted to go to bed. Reception busy when I rang to report and I phoned several times with no answer before giving up and having a cold wash. They eventually rang me back and apologised they had been busy. It was fixed that evening.

Well appointed public areas, breakfast was good with a selection of hot and cold items, the room overlooked the sea which was nice and always good to have complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits as well as bottles of water in the fridge. White company toiletries were also good

For a basic room it was on the expensive side, the bathroom door opened onto the toilet which was annoying and there was no air con in the room only a floor fan that you couldn't adjust the temperature below 25C. I'd also invest in new pillows or a pillow menu option as they let down a comfy bed

The hotel is ideally located for all Lythams shops & restaurants. With beautiful views of the Ribble Estuary.. Great car parking facilities & v helpful staff.

There was a wedding and the music in the general area was uncomfortably loud. In the bedroom it was too loud to sleep

Breakfast was amazing. Staff in dining room were so lovely. Great sea view too. We didnt get a seaview room but it was clean and quite sufficient. Checking in was a different experience. Woman on reception not interrsted almost rude. But would stay again just for the delicious breakfast

Excellent service from walking in. Helpful and professional throughout. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with the added bonus of a fan in a heatwave. Immaculately clean, so hats off to the cleaners for their detailed work! Breakfast was great breakfast and the location convenient.

Perfect location for centre of the 1940s festival. Hotel was lovely very clean and service was excellent. Breakfast was lovely too.

Our room 211 was nice but views out the window were of other rooms so felt we had to keep curtains shut. Would be better with blinds up. Bed was very hard and pillows too firm for my painful neck. But thats personal choice. Room needed painting around the edge of the ceiling lots of black which could have been sorted. Overall nice room.

Location is superb

It may sound picky but at breakfast the toast machine is self service and the typical “feed” the bread through as many other hotels use - while your breakfast is sat on the table going cold ! The choice of breakfast on menu is varied

Staff were so helpful and friendly particularly the ones on duty on the Thursday and Friday. Great for my 87 year old mum using a wheelchair and being central.

We were initially put in a room on the first floor next to a fire exit which didn't feel as clean or comfortable but we managed to change to a better one

Breakfast was very good although I asked for hard yolks on my poached eggs and they came completely runny and had to be sent straight back. Toast was warmed up bread until Pam got involved and we got some new properly toasted stuff. Pam was a great breakfast host.

Our room was unbearably hot and the kitchen extractor fans started at 6am. Decor is tired and dated.

Fantastic location, though I was too late in booking to secure a sea view. Well decorated and maintained. Excellent breakfast and service.

Great location, disappointing service The hotel is very well located, which was the main positive of our stay. Unfortunately, the welcome let it down. On arrival, the receptionist greeted us with "oh, you're the last ones I'm waiting for, I thought you were corporate!" It was not the warmest start. The rooms themselves felt tired and dated, and for the price we paid they did not represent good value. Breakfast was enjoyable, but again the service fell short. Before sitting down, we asked whether we could move away from the middle of the room and were met with "oh, you want to sit somewhere else?" The whole thing felt rushed, as though the staff were simply keen to finish their shift. A good location cannot make up for a poor welcome and rooms in need of refurbishment.

The service staff and the quality of food was very good

Nothing in particular. I needed a walk in shower owing to a disability and was told I had one but there were some stairs. When I got to the room there was a shower over the bath which is difficult for me, but we managed.

Location is excellent -the staff are friendly and the food is good.

Room was far too hot and I could not park in the car park on two occasions during my stay.

All staff were excellent, polite, cheerful and clearly very well trained.

Small issue, shower cubicle was extremely small but that's the only negative comment.

Room was excellent, very clean, bed comfortable and was everything I needed it to be, The staff were very helpful and i couldn't have asked for more, on the Saturday I stayed, I went for breakfast at 8.00am, everything was laid out very well and the English breakfast was lovely, on Sunday I had to leave early and asked for a breakfast muffin to take away, the lady who served me was great, she wrapped the muffin in tinfoil to keep it warm and put it in a box, and also offered so cold pastries and put them in a box, A hotel I would stay in again no problem,

The only thing was the parking car park was small and filled up quickly, I had to park out on the street on the second night as I arrived back at the hotel around 9.00pm but that was fine.

Unclean room, somebody else’s beer bottle left behind curtains which were not clean and curtains not fitting correctly. Bathroom basin loose from wall !

Lovely hotel I would definitely rate as 4*. We had a standard double room and it was a really good size with a large bathroom. Loved the White Company toiletries and even biscuits to go with coffee and tea. You don’t get that with some of the large chains today. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Very friendly staff great position of the Hotel and Sea View. Very close to lots of Restaurants and Bars. We ate at the hotel first night outside on the patio in the evening sunshine.

Room 204 was like an oven we had a large fan in the room on 24 hours a day but this just moved the hot air around and only avery small opening on the window itself must have been 100 degrees at times and didn't sleep under the duvet at all. Reception made aware but nothing done about it or even commented upon by staff when mentioned

We love staying at the Clifton Arms can’t fault anything the food is excellent room very clean and bed really comfortable staff are very friendly and helpful just got back and looking forward to our next visit

The room was uncomfortably hot obviously because of the sunny weather. When you opened the windows it was so noisy. Think the aircon duct ran under the window. Staff launching crates of empty bottles in the bins.Not what you expect at the Clifton Arms tbh. Took the edge off our stay

Lovely hotel down stairs, bar and conference rooms. Great location. Brilliant breakfast.

Tatty lace curtains, stain on the carpet. Only 3quarter bed? Seal on the shower door coming off. Looking out on the back, hole in the lace curtain in the conference room. Not acceptable for a 4star hotel??!! I pay just over 100 pound in hotels nicer.

Communal areas ok rooms just ok , price on the high side for quality of room ,reception staff not over welcoming, Stayed here before and decided to book a more expensive room but to be honest the only thing difference was a bit more room and a sea view the balcony was tiny and too small to sit on really.for the price we were expecting a bit more.

Position on the green was fantastic. Super staff and delicious breakfast. Room was very clean and had iron etc. Fabulous place to have a wedding. Would recommend cocktails!

Bathroom was large, but room felt cramped as had quite a lot of furniture. Had to move chair to open wardrobe. Our price was discounted as booked well in advance, but still almost £200. Full price would have been too much for a standard room. Car parking was free but limited.

Our room overlooking the car park at the back of the hotel was a little noisy- mainly from I presume emptying bottles into a bin periodically & the sound of a generator? Starting up at 6am - was very warm so had the windows open

Bedroom was basic, no AC and bath shower.

The room we had could of been cleaner but was soon sorted once i spoke to reception, and having to ask for towels as we had none when we arrived food could of been a bit cheaper for what you got but it was ok as we went out to eat, breakfast was excellent

service a little slow but staff very peasant but towards the end of the meal felt pressurised to let them clear our plates, we spent a lot of time chatting and eat slowly

waiting staff in the lounge area behind the bar would not take an order for tea if the only option was as told, order from the bar, this should be advised in your table menus or posted signs

Wow! From the moment we walked in ANN welcomed us with a big smile and lovely greeting! We stayed in The Chairmans Room (205) which was fabulous! Nice seating area, sofa, big king size bed, stunning sea views! Staff were fantastic. We attended a secret wedding which no guests knew anything about! It was handled brilliantly by the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, freshly cooked to order. I told Ann I did not want to leave and we will be back! THANK YOU, IT WAS AMAZING!

Only very slight negatives was the size of the shower cubicle, too small and the middle bay window had blown and couldn't see out of it unfortunately.

The room was lovely, but it would been nice to have a fridge.

Didn’t affect our stay at all but we couldn’t really see out of the window as the double glazing seal had failed and it was all misted over with condensation . On the morning of our departure the maid knocked twice to gain access to clean the room , once before we had even gone to breakfast ,but checkout not til 11? She could have checked with reception to see if we had checked out. There was a burn mark in the carpet where someone had obviously put down a hot iron . It would have looked better with a patch in carpet rather than that .

All staff very good but the bar staff need to be more efficient We went to the bar 3 times while we was there First time waited a while for drinks then they forgot the coffee had to ask twice Second time made the wrong drinks had to start again then when settling bill tried charging us for food which we didn't have it got sorted but not a good impression so far The third time had to ask for the coffees again waiting 20 mins when they did come was only Luke warm

We both loved the location of the hotel...Central to the town & onsite parking ...the overall ambience of the hotel was lovely..tastefully furnished..The bedroom had lovely furnishings & plenty of room both in the bedroom & bathroom .

The room we were given overlooked the hotel car park...not really a room with a view but couldn't fault it otherwise .
